“From the Basement” is/was an amazing show where a few bands made “live in studio” sessions of a few songs - check out Sonic Youth’s session, especially Incinierate, epic live version of one of the best late-period SY songs
They started more punk, nowadays they kinda do what they want but a lot of it still has a hard edge to it..Joe the vocalist is a big fan of hip hop and grime but also lots of other styles, the records in recent years are produced or co-produced by one if the guitarists and he /they write pretty much everything in the studio… they are overtly political/woke in the best way, challenging the powers that be, but Joe lyrics are often very personal too, he’s been through lot of traumas(lost his mum who he was carer for, lost a newborn baby..), addiction issues…a lot and he’s a very sweet guy as well as someone not to fuck with 😂 see if you can find their Glastonbury set from this summer
I watch you fellas a lot and have often thought “there’s no way they’ll ever get to IDLES” They are, in my opinion, the greatest band of all time. Please consider reacting to “Never Fight A Man With A Perm” Massive love 💙
