It's a critique of toxic masculinity, Bristol along with other places in the UK is a place where guys get drunk/drugged out of their heads on the weekend and end up fighting each other. It's basically saying "you don't need to be that guy anymore". hence the line "I'll shut my mouth, lets hug it out".
I love these guys. They have a lot to say. As hard as they sound, their messages are meant to be positive. I know they're not for everyone, my wife doesn't appreciate them, so I listen to them when no one's around.
IDLES AT LAST!!! please react to more of these guys! they’re the best new band for the past 15 years. Here’s some songs to check out, Colossus, Well Done, Danny Nedelko, Mother
Gents... lead singer is telling a story about getting his ass stomped by a big guy who got tired of the singers mouth... the band writes about toxic masculinity and social issues... smart stuff by an awesome band.
There's a real post punk revival going on in the uk atm good post punk, Also worth checking out Snapped ankles- "drink and glide", the comparisons the press use are if idles are the fall/the pop group then snapped ankles are devo/this heat.
I was due to see these guys a week before covid all kicked off. You guys are the best always finding great bands.... I think you should give Royal blood a go
Im just getting right into this band just now. Loving it so far. They have a crackin song called June.....please react to a band called Sigur Ros...any song really. A live version may be better

Heard first time in Peaky Blinders and not being from West, I thought it's something about class struggle lol

That's why I listen mostly with headphones. - Greg
I'm female and love them ❤

First saw them on Jools Holland doing Danny Nedelko and I was hooked.
You're not the first person I've heard say that.

Watch a live performance and consider the fact that the guitarist is a dentist...and enjoy!
A brand new band for you guys to check out, called Dry Cleaning.
Editors- smokers outside the hospital doors is a must listen
Love your reactions. Can we get a Protomartyr reaction?
Do a second song! I'd recommend Danny Nedelko from the same album
Thanks for the suggestion.
They are brilliant - not one bad tune!
