    What I love about Quaritch in this film is that he’s literally a different person. Yes he has the memories but he has new thoughts and feelings towards everything. Human Quaritch wouldn’t have hesitated to kill the Navi. And kill his son for the sake of getting back at Jake. This Quaritch is now connected to Eywa, he feels her through the animals. While human Quaritch laughed it off and didn’t believe in it. I cant wait to see how his character develops from here.

      @iamlinda100 Год назад +3

      it doesn't change the fact that this avatar Quaritch is still ruthless and and would do anything to get his revenge on Jake no matter how many Navis he hurts or kills, he would even risk the lives of an entire Navi clan to get his revenge on Jake. Quaritch really hasn't changed much at all, he is still the same old Quaritch as he was before. Sure he didn't want Neytiri to kill Spider, but that's only because he is his son. If Spider was just some random kid that was unrelated to Quaritch, then this avatar Quaritch would not have hesitated to kill Spider. Just because this Quaritch is connected to Ewya, it doesn't change his personality, he's still wiling to kill other Navis and animals of Pandora just to get what he wants. Quaritch is still very much the same person, avatar or not.

      @@iamlinda100 No, I think you're slightly wrong. I've seen a more humane Na'vi Quaritch than human Quaritch. Though, the idea to get back to Jake is still strong, he's tuning down his way through it (notice his body reaction and the way he talks)... It's ironic how Quaritch became more humane in Na'vi form compared to his human form which is clearly brutal.

    • @iamlinda100
      @iamlinda100 Год назад +1

      @@ShefortheStre what part of avatar Quaritch was he "humane"? He's still ruthless, still selfishly willing to hurt and kill as many Navis and the animals he can just to get what he wants. The only time I ever saw him having any shred of humanity was when he didn't want Neytiri to kill Spider, but like I said that's only because Spider is his son, if Spider wasn't his son then he would not have cared about Spider at all, and would have killed him if he had the chance. avatar Quaritch is still ruthless and brutal and would do anything to get his revenge on Jake, that's all he really cares about, besides Spider.

      @@iamlinda100 What I mean Ma'am is he turns down a little bit his brutal ways in getting back to Jake.. He could have killed those Metkayena people but he decides to just burn their homes down, that's just one example...
      And don't get wrong about Na'vi Quaritch being similar to Human Quaritch, they just have the same memories, not soul, unlike Jake... Na'vi Quaritch reacts and deliver himself differently compared to Human Quaritch.
      He's still brutal and ruthless yet he's turning it down a little bit... I'm not saying he's not ruthless or brutal

      @iamlinda100 Год назад

      @@ShefortheStre well from how I see it he is no different to human Quaritch, and how is destroying the home of the Metkayena clan somehow any "less" brutal? And don't forget during the battle Quaritch also killed many Navis from the Netkayena clan, proving he is still willing to kill the Navis and destroy their homes just to get what he wants, proving my point. He really has not changed much at all, he is still the same old Quaritch as he was before when he was a human. Except now he has a son, whom he has grew to care about. But other than Spider, the only other thing or person he cares about is himself and his petty revenge on Jake.

      The original film was tighter and simpler. And none of the fight scenes in this film can top the original Ikran war for the Tree of Souls... or Jake vs Quaritch in his AMP suit. But I can totally respect what Cameron is trying to accomplish. Hes trying to make his own Lord of The Rings saga using his pioneering skills with 3D art direction, set design and cinematography

    I see the relationship between Spider and Kiri representing a symbiosis between Eywa and humanity. That whole detail that Na'vi can breathe Earth air way better than vice-versa maybe a sign that Eywa is adapting a long-term strategy. And I'm in the camp that Spider remains human though the RDA, having the resources, would bribe him with an Avatar.

    What I really like about Recoms (like Miles Quaritch) is that they are not clones. They have the same memories, but are not the same person. It's a really interesting concept. Basically what makes us who we are and would someone else do different decisons even with those same memories? I find that really facinating and I hope it's explored more in the future.

    The popular theory among fans is that Eywa is Kiri's "father". So, you're probably right about the immaculate conception.

    • @youngstar312

      We do know who Spiders mother is. Her name was Paz Socorro, she worked for the RDA and was killed during the assault on the Tree of Souls(Avatar 1). We know this from the Comic "Avatar:The High Ground", which basically covers that 1 year timeskip. Because that was originally part of the movie, but it just got too much(and they didn't want to stretch it out even more after 2 was already broken up into 2 and 3)

    My theory on Grace's pregnancy was she was too weak to transfer her essence to her Avatar body, but Eywa got enough to use that to impregnate that body. So Kiri would be the daughter of Grace and Eywa.
    And the feeling I took home most from this as well as the first movie is how much humans can suck. The first movie was all about deforestation and this one was about whalers. I'm wondering where they'll go with the next three movies. We had the earth elemental in the first movie, and now water. I believe they've hinted at fire being a theme for the next one. So that leaves us with air (and pizza for fans of the Quest for Glory video games) for the remaining movies.

    My review: Avatar: The Way of Water
    The digital technology that brings us back to Pandora surely is the best technical deployment of 3D on film, and the most photorealistic CGI ever created but that’s it, the film has nothing else to offer.
    The Way of Water is less of a narrative film and more an endless tech demo one might expect to endure in purgatory.
    As a result, it’s hard to discuss the characters or story because there aren’t any, really. Most of the first and second act are unnecessary long scenes that adds nothing and there isn’t any dialogue, is just CGI, music and them exploring and Cameron flexing the CGI, the third act had a few good things but not enough to make this an above average movie.
    The plot, is laughable. Returning villains by Stephen Lang’s, his friend and they have motivations so laughably thin that is ridiculous, it doesn’t even make sense. The first and second act is dragged along by a parade supporting characters splashing about on space whales, looking stern and being repetitive with the sons being sorry for what they do. That’s to say nothing of the colonialist politics that the film blithely plays with. the film’s politics are so laughably overused, the colonizers so comically evil, and the natives so one dimensionally noble, that it is all too childishly simplistic to even bother getting worked up over. Subplots are introduced or hinted at and then get thrown away without resolve but hey spending an hour watching completely unnecessary whale hunt and dragged out surprised staring is more important.
    Avatar 2009 wasn’t exactly a masterpiece of narrative innovation but at least had a decent plot, it was emotional at some points and it wasn’t a bad movie. The Way of Water doesn’t have anything. Cameron has become more fascinated with the technology of storytelling, it seems he’s become less so by the actual storytelling. So many years working on this film to come up with this. The ending is completely lackluster. In the end the new waterworld setting and all the people in it are nothing but beautiful background instead of something that actually plays into the plot and characters and what they did with Stephen Lang character to milk more movies is just ridiculous lazy written. If I had to describe this movie would be and empty beauty, for about 2hrs you get is Cameron gloating on how beautiful his VFX are with absolutely zero story. Below average, 4/10.
