It's so interesting how one of the most iconic games of all time almost never made it outside of its home country. This movie is great.
Fun fact: that $5,000,000 check in 89' is the equivalent of $12,000,000 now. Definitely worth the effort
39:46 I was curious about the same thing, so I did some checking to see what Henk's other kids and Alexey's sons are up to now. I learned that Henk's daughter Julie Rogers is co-founder and executive director of the Akahiao Nature Institute, his son Leonard Rogers is founder and CEO of a company called R Bridge, his other son Michael Rogers used to be Chief Agricultural Officer for an app called Smart Yields, and Alexey's son Peter Pajitnov is a lawyer in Seattle.
I also learned that Alexey's other son, Dimitri, passed away in a skiing accident in 2017. RIP Dimitri Pajitnov. 😢
37:13 Nintendo's licence of Tetris expired in 1996, and all rights reverted back to ELORG, which became a private company after the Soviet Union fell, and to Alexey, who co-founded the Tetris Company with Henk. ELORG owned 50% of Tetris until the Tetris Company bought ELORG in 2005. Now, Henk and Alexey (and Maya) own all worldwide rights on all platforms.
Correction 1996
@@WahyuLancer Oh, God! How did I type "1966"? That's embarrassing. 😅
This movie was really surprising. I put it on as a backround movie but started very quickly to watch it with full attention.
yeah they totally added some stuff for dramatic effect, but it makes for a movie thats just fun to watch
Fun fact - actor, who played Alexey, Nikita Efremov, had major role in Russian series "Londongrad" in 2015 and had a joke about Tetris.
For me, in this film there are so much stereotypes for both sides. But I kinda like it anyway.
Thank you!
Both sides of what?
@@ZukoHalliwell, so called "communism" and "capitalism".
@@stasynel Okay.
You know, I think it's cool that all the Russian characters were portrayed by Russian actors (except Gorbachev, who was played by a British actor). I particularly thought Igor Grabuzov was phenomenal.
It makes so much sense that Robert Maxwell was Ghislaine Maxwell's father.
Right.🤨😡
Best use of that song since Shrek 2
Such a shame it's not getting the credit it deserves!
Loved this movie, I don't know if you can call it a hidden gem, since there are so many big names, but I'll count it since I din't expect anything going in watching it! :-)
Same
I think the movie Tetris was brought to life! Thank you, Eric!
I signed up for apple TV just to watch this movie and I loved it!
Cool reaction. Spasibo.
Fun fact, Lebedeva, who plays Sasha, has previously played in one of the best Russian TV series of recent years, The Last Minister, where in the finale she realizes that her leader, whom she considered an example and respected, turns out to be a corrupt official.
Nice reaction! I watched it last night and I really like it.
I think this was (thus far) the best movie I've seen this year. It subverted all my expectations.
You want to hear something crazy? Apparently, because Henk Rogers is of partial Indonesian descent, Taron Egerton's casting was criticized as whitewashing. Which I think is crazy, because like you said, he was brilliant.
The only reactor, to watch this great movie
Dude this was an awesome Movie. Highly recommend it. 👍
wow
Taron Egerton has been killing it. His performance in Black Bird miniseries was also great. Based on a true story, Black Bird is an intense and suspenseful viewing unearthing a serial killer who preys on young girls. Taron obviously plays the protagonist, without spoiling anything. A bit heavy for this channel beyond what Eric usually reacts to, but a good watch away from YT if you're fan of Egerton.
True Detective vibes if you're keen on such thrillers.
Lucky you have apple TV +
