Agreed. Watched it when i was a kid, still holds up to this day. Wished they’d make sequel but I don’t want the studios to tarnish such a good storyline if the sequel is bad lol
This movie is honestly such a gem. It was my first exposure to Hugh Jackman's acting outside of xmen, so I was really hoping more people would react to it.

If you want people to react to shit you like you have to be one of those poor tards that have no friends and pay for their Patreon I refuse to do that.
This movie was my favourite as a kid and even now it still holds up because they used practical effects and used actual versions of the robots pretty neat
I took my son to see this movie when it came out, he was six at the time. I had never before or since seen him jump out of his seat in the middle of a movie because he was so excited - that final fight was a great theater moment between the two of us. It's too bad they never made a sequel but better that then risk a poor follow up. Great reaction, this brings back the memories.
btw, the girls had no interest in seeing the movie so they stayed home. When we got back my wife asked how it was and I told her she missed out. Anyway, at the time it was a good father/son movie and yes - under appreciated.
The thing with Noisy Boy is that he has a disorder while fighting. He has pre-setting fighting moves and combos that is controlled by the voice command. He can't use regular, or standard boxing methods, to defeat Midas because he is not programmed to recognize it from his fighting data-base.
No, he can, it proofed when Charlie ordered him to do "Right roundhouse" he followed it, if only Charlie let himself to get used to Noisy Control he could've controled him the same way he controled Atom, Noisy Boy one and biggest weakness is that sometime during his "overseas" tour his armor pieces was swapped with cheaper materials (which is how Charlie was able to got him for only 50k), that is why that first blow from Midas immedietly bend his torso armor
@@ariqsyafwan4987 Well the armor pieces could be a true theory, but the roundhouse is not. A roundhouse would mean many things in different martial arts. A roundhouse would mostly be a kick in Taekwondo, Karate and Kung Fu. So it's not movie error or a standard basic move in boxing as that would be called, a cross. So meaning, Noisy Boy would've known a right roundhouse as it's part of his foreign country (Japan) and also a basic pre-setting move in his data-base.

@@ziicmadeit no he was made for speed and combos, from what is said on the mobile game about him. The only reason he lost to midas was because he didn't have a counter to the illgel moves which he was not programmed for.
Definitely an homage to Stallone's Over the Top and Rocky films. This came out at the height Bay's Transformers popularity, so it really didn't get much attention, but I think most people that watch it end up liking it. Man, Hugh's character is rough.
I believe they actually are working on a sequel or I heard they were thinking of it at least. I believe Shawn Levy has said he would like to do it but right now he is working on Deadpool 3 so if it does happen it will be after that. They just want to get a right script that works and is good enough for both Hugh and Shawn.
Real Steel is an extremely underrated movie. Loved it as a kid and still do! If you guys haven't been recommended it yet, Hugh Jackman also stars in The Greatest Showman. Another fantastic film of his. Keep up the great reactions!
Max watching his father do what he loves and in that moment being proud is an amazing part and the kid actor did phenomenal. This is one of the most underrated movies I swear

Real Steel was such a surprise treat when I went to see it after work one day at the theater. It was a $5 Tuesday and I just needed to unwind. I wasn't expecting much, but I ended up loving it.
This movie shouldn't work. When you say the plot out loud it just sounds dumb, but the way it's written, directed and realised it just works so well. The emotional story between father and sopn just binds everything together in the best possible way. Loved this film
I really like this movie..shame not many know about it. Anthony Mackie's character had a mini arc 😂. He told charlie he is a bad bet but then he bets on his side against nico believing atom would make it past round one 😅
This is one of my all time favorites - so glad to see you guys react to this! It was based on a short story published in 1956 called "Steel" written by Richard Matheson - worth a read. Great reaction!
This was one of my favorite movies as a kid, loved the plot and graphics of the robots. Feels like the visuals still hold up well, and felt SO ahead of it’s time to me as a kid. So glad y’all are reacting to this!
They filmed the first fight and court room scenes about 15 minutes from where I was living at the time. Mason, Michigan was overjoyed to have part of a movie filmed there. Hugh Jackman rode the ferris wheel with some of the extras while they were filming b-reel. He was so nice.
I love how into that last tight Oak got 😂 he was literally embodying my reaction watching this the first time 😂 I can't *believe* this movie never got a sequel.
Love this movie. I was lucky enough to see this as my first movie in theaters in New Zealand after spending a year at the South Pole working for the U.S. Antarctic Program. Because of that, this movie will always have a special place in my heart. Thanks for the reaction gentlemen.
This director is re-teaming with Jackman, as well as re-teaming with Ryan Reynolds after Free Guy, for the currently filming (halted production) Deadpool 3.
Dave, Jackman was really in the center of his x-men journey, 4 in the past and 3 to come after this movie (The Wolverine, Days of Future Past, and Logan)
I saw that movie when it came out, but forgot about almost everything that happened. Good thing, I could watch the full length with you guys 💚💪 Loved how invested you were, especially with the final fight 😂
Fun fact: The film is loosely an adaptation of a short story called Steel by Richard Matheson. The only thing that the short and the film had in common was the robot boxing and a human basically "boxing" the robot. The short story was adapted into an episode of The Twilight Zone in the 1960s (it's actually one of many episodes that were adaptations of Richard Matheson's short stories, including Little Girl Lost and Terror at 40,000 Feet, which Spielberg himself was a involved with and had previously done an adaptation of another Matheson short story as his first film, Duel in 1971). Matheson's work is well known with two adaptations that people know, Somewhere in Time (1981) and the multiple adaptations of his novel I Am Legend.
I love this movie for SO many reasons. Practical effects, homage to both Rocky and ALL the famous real-life boxers that have come before, Ali's rope-a-dope, and a true love for the sweet science. Also proving that algorithms can be really, REALLY good, but when it comes to real boxing, nobody can outbox a human being.
I'm so happy you guys finally reacted to this movie!! I remember growing up watching this movie with my brother! So many awesome memories! The music and just the wholesome feeling this movie gives, it's definitely a fun one!! Thank you for reacting to it!
This was one of my favourite films for such a long time! Think Dave brought up iRobot at some point, would be a great movie to react to def should put it on the list. Keep it up!
Definitely an easy comfort movie. You'll find yourself going back to it either with a kid in your life as they get to an age they can appreciate it or just on your own. It's fun for sure.
When this movie came out, I was working at a Cinemark theater. That first week it was out we had a special event booked early one morning at our theater so the 5 openers were supposed to show up 3 hours early. I was the only one who showed along with the 2 managers and we made snack boxes and small drinks for 150 kids (8-10 yrs) to watch the Lorax. Because I showed up like I was supposed to, the managers started Real Steel in our largest theater (XD) for a private show while the rest of the openers had to clean the Lorax theater with all the spilled popcorn and drinks and 3 overflowing garbage cans. I loved the movie, and it may be the most epic theater experience I'll ever have, getting a private showing on such a huge screen. Always show up to work on time, my friends!
My favorite thing about this movie is the sly smart script. It gives us everything we want from a father and son movie, a fight movie, and a robot movie -- but it also swerves unexpectedly. The dad starts out as SUCH a jerk, the aunt is a actually a good person, etc. All the usual cliches somehow don't show up. I love the film and it was great seeing you guys cheering on Atom by the end.
Went to see this in theaters, it was amazing the whole theater was hyped and cheering and clapping, was really a wonderful experience I'll never forget at the movies
I recently found this channel and have become obsessed. Your ability to watch movies from any genre geared toward any audience and still find enjoyment and deeper meanings is amazing. You have such a,axing insights and sometimes it makes me feel like I’m watching one of these for the first time. This is one of my all time favorite movies and I’m writing this before I watch this video but I never see anyone that talks about it. It just proves why I’ve subscribed, keep doing what you’re doing it always puts a smile on my face. Love it!❤️ (I also can watch this movie and get up and scream at my tv like it’s the first time I ever saw it never gets old)
Man, Reel Steel is still such a great film after all this time... IMO it has a lot of similarities to the Japanese anime Megalobox, also set in the distant future. Instead of robots, humans box with artificial exoskeletons (called Gears) attached to their limbs. The protagonist, Joe, begins his career fighting in underground rings (just like Rocky) and dreams of having a real fight. At first, he boxes with old Gear (even in an exhibition match that he loses against the current champ, Yuri), but upon entering a tournament (in order to fight Yuri again), he decides to box without Gear, earning him the nickname "Gearless Joe". Although the show is actually an homage to the manga Ashita no Joe ("Tomorrow's Joe"), which was published from the late 60s to the early 70s, I'd like to think it also took inspiration from both Rocky and Real Steel.
The moment I heard you guys quoting lines from Short Circuit I couldn't stop smiling. That's one of my favourite movies from back when I was a kid. So glad others knew about it and can quote lines from it..... Oh yeah, and this movie is legendary. It will never have a sequel, but it would have been really cool to see a series of it.
The last scene against Zeus is inspired by the "Rumble in the jungle" Ali vs Foreman fight. Muhammad Ali was taking violent shots during the whole fight and then he came back in the last round because Foreman had no energy left.
One point that I notice a lot in people watching this show is that Charlie was supposed to be a warm up for a fight for the champ, and never realized the fight was supposed to be rigged for him to lose from the start. Charlie gave it his all, only to find out between rounds that he was just there to make the champ look good, yet nearly trashed the champ before he found out he was supposed to lose and he took his prearranged fall after he was told that he was supposed to lose.
One of the best sports movies ever created, and damn does it get you invested in the _characters_ of the movie. It's a fave for me, and I don't even like boxing. ♥
The thing about Noisy Boy being such a good bargain. He was a retired champion from an aging generation of robots that was on its way out. In his heyday Noisy was lethal, but that was behind him. This isn't canon, but my guess is that Noisy's part of the G2 bots like Atom. I think G1 bots were built not just to look human, but to mimic more human boxing styles that were driven purely off efficiency in a fight. When the crowd moved on from that, G2 picked it up and added more flash to still very effective technique. This is seen in Noisy Boy's accented design and fancy moveset that's still technically grounded in boxing fundamentals. Then when the audience demanded carnage, G3 went all out and ditched conventional fighting styles for raw power and brutality. That's why in the Underworld you have the no holds barred Midas and the freakish Metro, and the WRB you got the flashy and ferocious Twin Cities and the Ubermensch Zeus. Most of them rely either on their tech being better or the lack of restraint to win. This also explains why Charlie wasn't having much success at the beginning, against thse G3 fighters. He tried emulating their flash when he himself was a high-caliber pro boxer, trained on efficiency over style. It was only when he programmed Atom to fight the way he fights was he able to come back to his fundamentals, exploit the weaknesses of these bigger bots, and finally find success.
Back in the day a lot of critics decried this film as 'formulaic'. But they wer also quick to point out the formulas are formulas because they work, and it certainly did in this case!
Only recently found your channel and been going through your videos and they are all great and another great reaction here. The last scene against Zeus is inspired by the "Rumble in the jungle" Ali vs Foreman fight. Muhammad Ali was taking violent shots during the whole fight and then he came back in the last round because Foreman had no energy left.
I laughed so hard at your reactions 😂 Thanks guys
There's my guys to start my Monday. Glad you y'all are doing this. I have this on dvd.
Fun fact that court house at 4:51 is in my hometown, and the cop that’s blurred out in the back was my step-dad.
The kid in this played young thor in the flashback scenes in the first thor movie
Why does the guy in the white shirt sound like my eighth period senior year science teacher 💀
Your reactions were so much fun to watch, but Oak's investment was the best😂
Never thought i see the day you guys reacting to this movie, with full crew at that
🤜🤛
I love this movie! I remember everyone making fun of it back in day but I had faith and saw it in theaters and loved it. What a gem!
So funny when everyone is laughing, and oaks is just 😐
That's his "invested" face! 😄 I feel like every time we see him make it, he's paying close attention to the scene.
No cap I cried my first time watchin this movie😂😂
The truck Jackman drove in this is a 1960 International Harvester Sightliner
One of the best sports movies ever created, and damn does it get you invested in the _characters_ of the movie. It's a fave for me, and I don't even like boxing. ♥
with how much Oak was invested, I wonder if he would pull the same in theatre .... LOL
Absolutely adore this movie. Saw it in theaters and it's been one of my favorites ever since!
Only recently found your channel and been going through your videos and they are all great and another great reaction here. Justice for Noisy Boy, he was put down for the plot
I used to watch this movie religiously as a kid and the last fight made me cry every single time.
Loved y’all’s reactions to this film. Pretty similar to my own back when I watched it for myself!
This movie deserved better than it got, it's such a fun movie!!
One of my favourite movies as a child, but very much under appricieted. Never thought someone would make a reaction for it, and such a great one! New subscriber for sure
I know Anthony Mackie from this movie prior to avengers. This is such a comfort movie, giving such 90s coming of age movies vibe.
I absolutely loved this movie. I have no idea why it didn't do better.
100%. It was just a fun, nice, wholesome surprise.
Amazing choice!!! very few people appreciate this movie as much as it deserves.
thank you for giving me what i needed today (im home and sick and bored), love you guys
Get well soon!
9:23 if I remember correctly they said something along the lines of the bots overseas being more fragile or something and he went against the big guns without taking his bot out for a test drive
Once again, you all got me to watch a movie I had never even heard of before now. Love Hugh Jackman, so figured it would be good. Love the turnaround in this one. Watching you all get so into it was great, too! 😂
I love all the wrestling references you guys were making! I feel like wrestling has been really good across all platforms lately.
hands down one of my favorites, im glad you guys got to watch it 👍🏼
So cool that the court scene was filmed right in my hometown.
This was a duvet day favourite of mine and my daughter when she was a tweenager and now I’m watching it with my nephews, of which I have many!
This is an underrated gem, through and through
