Actually, I think Toruk kind of hunts everyone because he is a predator. I don't think he attacked them because he wanted to bond with Jake. This is only my personal thought, but I don't truly understand people saying that the ikrans are being forced because in the beginning, it is more like a dual. Your ikran will only try to kill you because it wants to know if you are up to them. It is like a challenge. After the connection, it is not like the Na'vi take control of their minds, they are not taking over them, even though Jake says: "You are mine now." it is not true. Avatar 2 Spoiler incoming!! If you take that part in Avatar 2, where Quaritch's ikran is hurt by Jake riding on that Skimwing, it is clear that they are flying and fighting with the people because they choose to. After he got bit, he flew away because he had enough, he chose to do that as well. I truly don't think that they are overtaken by the Na'vi, rather they are co-operating. They are connected like an human and a pet. This is my theory at least.

In an encyclopedia Avatar book, Tsu’tey was actually in love with Neytiri’s older sister and was originally betrothed to her but she got killed and Neytiri was basically next in line for marriage.
The moment that Neytiri holds Jake's broken human body in her arms for the first time will forever be one of my favorite moments in cinema. That moment the heart of this whole movie for me.

There are so many foreshadowing parts for the war at the end and some with how Eywa "chose" Jake. One obviously is with the "jellyfish pure spirits" surrounding him in the beginning. However, the part when Jake is getting his Okran for the first time, there's a one too that many people miss. Jake asks her, "How will I know it will choose me?" She answers with, "It will try to kill you". Once the flying time lapses happen, they were attacked by the big one, The Last Shadow. Notice how they are the same species, just with him, hes the only big one left. So, when they were attacked, it was because Jake was chosen by The Last Shadow. There was one shot in slow motion, showing it trying to bite Jake, only Jake. Watching it back, you notice it wasn't after Neytiri at all.
Definitely watch the second one in IMAX 3D, I know you want us the viewers to enjoy your reaction, but the personal experience you will get watching it in IMAX 3D just isn’t explainable. It’s just out of this world, quite literally.
I love how the plot conceit of the body swapping Avatars dovetails so seamlessly with the technological device of the actors' motion capture work translating to digital avatars on the screen. It makes the result very fluid and natural to fostering believability in the transformation and whole world that Cameron created. In fact, it's such a seamless and obvious combination of the plot and the theater craft that nobody really even thinks of it while watching.
You should absolutely see the new movie in Imax. It’s so worth it, its insane how it looks. A home viewing just cant compare. By the time its up on digital it will be like 6 months. You can react to it again and it will feel fresh and we will watch.

Which is why after Jake and Norm got to Pandora (together, remember) and walked into the lab they were like 'oh, they (their avatars) got so big'. The movie just didn't show the parts between when Jake was offered to take his brother's place at the funeral and when he got to Pandora. It probably consisted of him getting a crash course in what the program was about and seeing his brother's growing avatar before he got on the ship and was put to sleep but it's understood. They were never on Pandora with Grace before that. Norm just was a whole Pandora nerd/ fan of Grace and her work so he knew everything about the place, but he was never there.
@@Tray-5same. Can drag a tiny bit but it was never even close to boring. I’m fully back invested in the Avatar universe 13 years later. Something I thought wouldn’t happen.
So, in our solar system, Pandora is a moon of Saturn, but here its one of 14 moons of a gas planet called Polyphemus in the Alpha Centauri system with 3 stars (one of them a red dwarf) set in 2154. It's about 4.3 light years away from Earth. So even if they have light speed for the spaceships, it takes 4.3 years to get there, but you also have to accelerate and slow down so travel time is a bit longer. But please, go watch the sequal in IMAX 3D for your own experience, you can always rewatch it for the channel. These movies are very, very rare and should be seen in theater.
Man this is why I love Avatar because the setting is real, we’re talking about a real life star system Alpha Centauri A the largest star in the Alpha Centauri system, the alien life forms that call pandora home was also well though out by James Cameron because all of the alien creatures have 6 limbs to make up for the light gravity and it also explains why the Na’vi are 10ft tall to make up for the light gravity too, plus all of the near future technology is one of many reasons I love Avatar. (Btw I kinda wrote the same comment as yours, but longer, I literally realized after I posted the comment before coming across yours, sorry mate)
Honestly, you guys should go see it in theaters as soon as possible. By the time it’s available to stream, it probably won’t be playing on the premium screens it was made for. Highly recommend Dolby 3D for your first outing. I don’t think any of us would mind if it’s a rewatch a couple months down the road.
Note: I am not woke Avatar tackles the subject of colonialism and how it affected the indigenous peoples all over the world. The Na’vi are like mixture of both Indigenous American, African, and Pacific Islander cultures. I noticed that the humans are mostly played by white actors and the Na’vi are played by POC (People of Color). The US Marines represents the Europeans “discovering” a new world, but instead in this film they discover a new planet that’s already been inhabited with an indigenous population and they want their resources. Even though we all know the outcome in reality, but in this film the Na’vi are victorious. James Cameron was deeply inspired by that aspect of human history that he had to get it on the big screen.
When this movie first came out in 2009 I remember people felt depressed after watching this movie and it was all over the news. Like being in a fantasy land and waking up to own reality… for some it was near suicidal. Good thing you guys didn’t have to wait 13 years like us to see the second movie.
The Lorax book that he picked up at the school is a very nice parallel to the movie. It's essentially what they are doing to Pandora. Deforestation to profit from the resources. Never really realized it till now.
When they touch their throats, it is just a radio attached to their neck that they activate to talk and then every important character has a receiver in their ear.
Not so fun fact: A deleted scene depicted a guy in one of the mech suits finding Tsu’tey after he is shot and he tells Tsu’tey as he grabs him by the queue (ponytail), "I hear this is worse than death for you,” and he cuts it off. It also says that’s why Tsu’tey wanted to die. Even if he was able to be saved, he would never be able to fly an ikran, ride a pa’li (horse), bond with another women, or connect to the tree of souls ever again. You can even see in the extended version that his queue is missing in the scene.
Do not wait for the home release just for the channel, you can react as a second viewing. See it in theaters in 3D on an IMAX if you can. It is literally indescribable and probably the closest thing we will get to a Holodeck in our lifetime. Since it was filmed and rendered in 3D it is amazing.
9:56 good question. Pandora is the moon orbiting the gas giant Polyphemus which is indeed the size of Saturn. Pandora is located in the Alpha Centauri system (a star system of 3 stars in the southern sky in the constellation of Centaurus) which is located around 4.3 light years away making it the Solar system’s nearest stellar neighbor. Pandora’s planet Polyphemus orbits the star Alpha Centauri A which is the largest star in the system and slightly bigger than our Sun. All of this takes place in the mid 22nd century, everything is somewhat near future technology and the ways of interstellar travel is done right. This is why I adore Avatar because of the story, the CGI, the alien life forms that call Pandora home, and the near future technology that is in Avatar.
Fun fact. According to supplementary material (or maybe James Cameron’s own words), the gas giant that Pandora serves as a moon for is named Polyphemus (after the famed cyclops that Odysseus encountered in The Odyssey).
I get where you're coming from on waiting to see the new one for reaction purposes. However, if you have the opportunity to go see it in Imax, it's incredible. There is a chance it will be re-released in theaters like the 1st one was.
finally i grew up watching it and loved it my parents took me and my sister to watch it in 3D when it first came out which that was my first 3D movie i saw and i was 8 now im 20 and on Oct 14 this year and i took my family to go watch the re release of it in 3D again i paid for it and the December 16 i took my family to the theaters to watch Avatar 2 in 3D and we loved it
The entire US power grid couldn't handle being only wind, solar, or hydropower. The whole reason that very little of the nation's power comes from wind, solar, and hydropower is cause it always needs replaced and you need such a vast amount of it to be able to compare to oil or coal. For example: Solar panels need replaced every 25 years and they're made out of toxic materials which generate waste. Windmills need replaced every 25-50 years, kill birds, and we figured out that they also harm marine life if you put them in the ocean. Can't speak on hydropower, but if I remember correctly, it's the least energy producing of the three. Same can be said about electric cars. They're quiet and can go the same distance as a regular car, however if you're traveling across the country for example; you will stop WAAAAY more times to charge your vehicle than you will to refill your gas tank in a normal car. Not to mention: If a truck/car breaks down in the middle of no where, you can refill it easily compared to being screwed since there's no charging station around ya. We haven't even gotten into the fact that the materials for solar, wind, hydropower, and electric cars are all collected/transported by oil and coal machines/vehicles... Even charging stations run on gas lol. If people wanna replace oil and coal then we need to stop looking at temporary solutions which will just create problems of their own. Instead, we need to look towards nuclear power and the possibility of plasma reactors which nations like France and Germany are currently working on.
Highly recommend watching in theaters, dolby 3d or Imax 3d! Nothing wrong with watching the movie multiple times in my opinion. I have already watched it three times and each experience was equally as enjoyable.
Definitely enjoyed this movie when it was first released and even though its story line was familiar I think most audience goers had to admit Cameron certainly knocked it out the park when it came to the films visuals; however, I did endure quite a lot of teasing when the film came out, in particular because the Na'vis deity Eywa was similar to the spelling of my surname as well as it's pronunciation. 1:21:50-1:22:12 "He's just rubbing it out?" And once again Jane doesn't fail to provide me with a good laugh. lol😂
So, as this movie is one of my many movie obsessions, the fictional planet was placed in the real world star system of Alpha centauri, and given the time frame they said it takes to get there, they were traveling at 73% the speed of light.
Honestly- don't wait to react to the second movie on YT- make that your second time seeing it... Do yourself a favour & get the full effect of Avatar the way of water (like the full on immersive experience & experiencing the full beauty of the film) by watching it as intended, in 3D Imax or Dolby 3D a very close 2nd (if dolby was Imax size it'd be first IMO).
Got to see this on the big screen in IMAX a month or two ago, looked incredible , up until then, had only ever seen it on TV. Definitely needs to be seen on a big screen
Unabtainium is a super conductor. It such a material would be revolutionary in the feild of electronics, if we ever found one, because it would allow for stronger conductivity and which could be uesd to improve things such as em resonance scanners and even reduce power waste since super conductors don't energy by generating heat when a current is passed through it.
If you notice, they are using filter breathers, not air tanks or any bulky thing Thats because Pandora has an Oxygen rich atmosphere, the problem, besides some trace elements, is that the Carbon Dioxide levels are WAY to high to breath for human life. And its not a huge number but its enough to be too toxic for human life. So they use those Filter Masks, kinda like if you ever watched Apollo 13, the air filtration systems, to filter out the Carbon Dioxide to safe levels and give them the proper Oxygen to breath
Jake and Norm spelman came to pandora together on the same space flight, remember how they were together when they first got to the lab and introduced themselves to Grace? And how both their avatars were in the big tanks of fluid, and how they were in the medical bay at the same time when they first went into their avatars? Just a suggestion but maybe you guys should rewatch the movie again before seeing part 2 cause I feel like you missed some stuff
This movie is so sad. It represents what we are doing to nature in our world today. Not many people know this, but the our trees have a Mycorrhizas network. (like web to communicate) The older the tree the more networks it haves. The one with the most network is known as the mother tree. It has just been found out that these networks help them communicate. For example if a trees will be able to know if a younger tree is not getting enough nutrients and they will help. When we cut them down, or add chemicals to soil we break or harm those connections. It is not just with trees either.
I noticed that in the directors cut of the movie, in the beginning Jake says that his brother got stabbed to death but in the Final Cut in the movie, he says it’s a gun.
As I explain to folks who watch this film in the cinema in 2D, that they are only having half of the experience. This was made exclusively to be viewed in 3D. It is the difference of watching a movie or being IN the movie. The new film is even more dimensional.
"Avatar" (2009) remains to this day the best CGI film, surpassed only by "Avatar: The Way of Water". Both are a unique visual and emotional experience. P.S. The director of Jurassic Park is Steven Spielberg.
Forgive me for not knowing the actress’ name but the woman who plays Neytiri is so fk good 😭😭😭 Whenever she cries or yells out of emotions I get goosebumps. It’s like I can feel what she feels. What a phenomenal actress

"What does the unobtanium do? I really want to know the significance." Unobtainum is exactly what it sounds like. An ore that humans are not supposed to obtain, so they destroy the Naavi to turn it into "obtainium". It serves no actual purpose or have any use.
I watched it back then in the cinema in 3D, those jelly fish things were floating past me in my seat , returned the next day to watch again .Still a fav.
I feel thatGrace being in the system now gives the Navi a good understanding of everything that she knows about science and humanity. Hopefully Grace will make another appearance in the next 2 films as she made in Avatar 2
Avatar is* a movie where the story line is used up and when used again can be bad but Avatar had a way of using a played out concept while being ahead of its time and still amazing with every rewatch and I appreciate that.
a scientist who studies forests discovered that a sapling receives nutrition form it's parent tree. until it can get close enough to the sunlight for photosynthesis.
So, just going by the theatrical release, and totally not read up on the lore online, but it seems like the mineral unobtanium, a superconductor at room temperatures, is not only in the big ore deposits. It's in everything, and is what allows every living thing to connect with each other. Their deity is really their collective consciousness, comprised of everyone and everything that has ever lived. They are all connected through the mineral, in their bodies and in the planet beneath. One big memory card and CPU, rolled into one. Which means they would never agree to allow the mineral to be mined. It would be like carving off pieces of their god.
throat coms were used in WWII bombers. pressing the device activate it. vibrations from the wearer's voice box are transmitted on squadron's frequency.
Unobtainium is a superconductor. It allow for extreme amount of power to pass through it. It supposedly works 10x better than fiber optics and 15x to 20x better than the copper wiring inside coaxial cable.
Tsu'tey was actually originally supposed to pair up with Neytiri's sister Sylwanin. However because she died Neytiri took her spot, to my knowledge neither Tsu'tey nor Neytiri were too happy about that. This is probably why Tsu'tey didn't hold a grudge against him for too long. (Yes, I know Jake became Toruk Makto and earned his respect, but if Tsu'tey really cared about being with Neytiri he would have still felt some form of hate towards him.)
I think the Ring trilogy holds up pretty well CGI-wise too, although it has begun to crack a little here and there in recent years. But Avatar is of course in a league of its own. Turns out it pays off to take your sweet time doing something.
I never watched this cut, there is so much I did not see before. I loved your reactions, thanks guys!. I look forward to seeing your next Avatar reaction.
Man I love this movie. One of my top three favorite films of all time. Watch the second one however you want, but I can say for sure that this movie definitely isn’t one you want to miss the IMAX 3D experience with. No one would blame you if you wanted to see this one in theaters instead. It’s absolutely worth it. The braids are called Queues. It isn’t sexual in nature but it can definitely enhance the experience. It’s a way of connecting to all life on the planet and is essential for co- existence with and to take advantage of most creatures like the Direhorses and the Ikran. It acts as a spiritual connection too, to their goddess. Most people when they see the mating scene immediately think that when they connect to each other it is part of the sexual process somehow but it’s not necessary for intimacy, it’s a deeply romantic gesture and by doing it, solidifies their emotional bond with each other as mates.
Those jellyfish looking things that float around are called woodsprites which is from the tree of souls which is ewya and this woodsprites are sign from ewya like omens.
When Avatar 2 comes out on digital it will almost 100% not be in theaters anymore. And it'll take a LONG while too because it'll be in theaters for a long time.
Are there two versions of this movie? Cuz I could have sworn Jake said “guy with a gun” instead of knife, when he was talking about the murder of his brother.
10:30 The problem with cryogenics is water, we have water in every part of our body and when that freezes the ice is like microscopic shards of glass, it just destroys the cells around it.
Thing with "solar and wind all we need" was an idea back then too, but it's not enough to maintain even current size population. In situation of overpopulation like that it'll be not nearly enough. So it's no outdated things here, it's quite accurate.
10:00 Im not sure if it was in the movie or not, but that (fictional) planet polyphemus, which is the gas giant in the background is said to be located in the (real) Alpha Kentauri system, which is actually the closest star system to us, being *only* ca. 4 light years away.

Note: I am not woke
Avatar tackles the subject of colonialism and how it affected the indigenous peoples all over the world.
This movie was my Childhood and the 13 year wait for the sequel was all worth it
When this movie first came out in 2009 I remember people felt depressed after watching this movie and it was all over the news. Like being in a fantasy land and waking up to own reality… for some it was near suicidal. Good thing you guys didn’t have to wait 13 years like us to see the second movie.
This movie and it's sequel was meant to be *seen in theaters, in 3D*
Do NOT miss the sequel in the theater. Do NOT pass up the opportunity to see it in IMAX 3D. It was well worth the money.
1:06:32 I kept thinking of that until someone reminded me that toruk did try to kill him earlier, so it tecnicaly counts as him being chosen
This movie and the second one is INSANE in 3D.
The new movie is incredible seen it 3 times
Bruh lol
You wasted 12 hours of your life on that crap? lol.
@@justthej It wasn't a crap bro 🤣.
@@justthej hater
@@justthej the amount of revenue it got says otherwise lmao it wasn't crap
After I watch this movie I feel that I can rest in peace now. Everyhting so beautiful
I get where you're coming from on waiting to see the new one for reaction purposes. However, if you have the opportunity to go see it in Imax, it's incredible. There is a chance it will be re-released in theaters like the 1st one was.
finally i grew up watching it and loved it my parents took me and my sister to watch it in 3D when it first came out which that was my first 3D movie i saw and i was 8 now im 20 and on Oct 14 this year and i took my family to go watch the re release of it in 3D again i paid for it and the December 16 i took my family to the theaters to watch Avatar 2 in 3D and we loved it
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS REACTION, u should defenitly watch avatar 2 it’s such a amazing movie
2nd one is incredible. Have to see it in 3d. It is so immersive
1:21:50-1:22:12 "He's just rubbing it out?" And once again Jane doesn't fail to provide me with a good laugh. lol😂
I always skip past sponsors, but I enjoyed this one, and I lost it when she bit into the kiwi, skin and all. 😂👌
SUCH A GREAT MOVIE 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
So, as this movie is one of my many movie obsessions, the fictional planet was placed in the real world star system of Alpha centauri, and given the time frame they said it takes to get there, they were traveling at 73% the speed of light.
Honestly- don't wait to react to the second movie on YT- make that your second time seeing it... Do yourself a favour & get the full effect of Avatar the way of water (like the full on immersive experience & experiencing the full beauty of the film) by watching it as intended, in 3D Imax or Dolby 3D a very close 2nd (if dolby was Imax size it'd be first IMO).
That sponsorship skit was AWESOME!
If you notice, they are using filter breathers, not air tanks or any bulky thing
Thats because Pandora has an Oxygen rich atmosphere, the problem, besides some trace elements, is that the Carbon Dioxide levels are WAY to high to breath for human life.
And its not a huge number but its enough to be too toxic for human life. So they use those Filter Masks, kinda like if you ever watched Apollo 13, the air filtration systems, to filter out the Carbon Dioxide to safe levels and give them the proper Oxygen to breath
I love this movie!
Given that wolves are my favorite animals, the Viperwolves are my favorite of the Pandoran animals.
Go See the 2nd !!!🙌
Must See in theater !
ASAP ... it doesn't feel like 3 hours!
You'll want more I promise 💯
Great React guys ..
you both are cool ⭐️
Yeah I want more when the movie ended
"What-the-freak on a stick!" LMBO!!!!🤣😂🤣😂...best reaction line I've heard so far!!!
Love the sound effects you make whenever explosions happen 😭
"Avatar" (2009) remains to this day the best CGI film, surpassed only by "Avatar: The Way of Water".
Both are a unique visual and emotional experience.
P.S.
The director of Jurassic Park is Steven Spielberg.
Forgive me for not knowing the actress’ name but the woman who plays Neytiri is so fk good 😭😭😭 Whenever she cries or yells out of emotions I get goosebumps. It’s like I can feel what she feels.
What a phenomenal actress
"What does the unobtanium do? I really want to know the significance."
Unobtainum is exactly what it sounds like.
I'm bit surprised you guys haven't watched avatar till now but Im here for it 👍🔥
throat coms were used in WWII bombers. pressing the device activate it. vibrations from the wearer's voice box are transmitted on squadron's frequency.
The brother was not there, he was chosen because he was a brilliant scientist who's learned about the mission for years(on earth) and assist Grace.
Unobtainium is a superconductor. It allow for extreme amount of power to pass through it. It supposedly works 10x better than fiber optics and 15x to 20x better than the copper wiring inside coaxial cable.
RIP Composer & Conductor James Horner Will You Be Missed
By the way, unobtainium may sound silly but thats a legit name. In the Avatar world, unobtainium is a superconductor.
That manscaped ad got me rolling and phantom pain when she bit it lol🤣🤣😵
I never watched this cut, there is so much I did not see before. I loved your reactions, thanks guys!. I look forward to seeing your next Avatar reaction.
i have always liked sam's performance in all his movies.
like seeing jake's avatar getting more muscular. great addition to the character development.
You SHOULD watch it in theaters the experience is worth more than a reaction . It took 15 years to be made and it was made FOR the big screen
Would love to see you react to "The Count of Monte Cristo" 2002 version. A 19 year old Henry Cavill is in this as well. I know you will LOVE it💕🎬😍
Man I love this movie.
I've watched so many of these and finally get to see someone review the extended edition!! Subbed!
Lmao when Jane bit into the kiwi I lost it
So did JV 🤣🤣🤣🤣. I'll do anything to make him laugh like that 😂 💕
Not sure if anyone else let you know, but this is not Jupiter. Pandora is definitely not in our solar system, but in the Alpha Centauri system.
Haven’t seen this in a while but the sequel was just as good
Are there two versions of this movie? Cuz I could have sworn Jake said “guy with a gun” instead of knife, when he was talking about the murder of his brother.
10:30 The problem with cryogenics is water, we have water in every part of our body and when that freezes the ice is like microscopic shards of glass, it just destroys the cells around it.
Thing with "solar and wind all we need" was an idea back then too, but it's not enough to maintain even current size population. In situation of overpopulation like that it'll be not nearly enough. So it's no outdated things here, it's quite accurate.
“Ooh the tree…” little did they know lolol.
I watched it in 3D on 15 of December in the theater and was amazing I'm fell in love with the new Aquatic Avatar..
they were in cryosleep, where u dont age... in stasis, u just sleep, and still age...
10:00 Im not sure if it was in the movie or not, but that (fictional) planet polyphemus, which is the gas giant in the background is said to be located in the (real) Alpha Kentauri system, which is actually the closest star system to us, being *only* ca. 4 light years away.
