Guerrilla has figured out traversal in video games, you touch the clouds and dive beneath the depths of ocean, this is just crazy
You can actually fly through the clouds ☁️ in burning shores. It’s pretty cool
And Sam Witwer does an awesome job, you can tell he had a lot of fun doing this role.
I loaded up Forbidden West about 4 days before Burning Shores release to clean up a bunch of quests and gear upgrades and re-familiarize myself with the controls. Ended up with a game clock just a bit over 100 hours pre-Burning Shores. Burning Shores has been great, definitely no feelings of burnout even with all I've put into the main game.
The DLC is really good. Beat it and yeah the final boss is nuts.
Downloaded Burning Shores but wasn't really in the mood to start it, but hearing you guys talk about it gets me stoked. Probably gonna play it over the weekend.
the final boss in this DLC is the best moment of all of Horizon, period
Guerrilla has always had stellar technical/artistic chops. Killzone 2 made me a lifelong fan.
Not even a big FPS guy and had played KZ1 somewhat on PS2. Those trailers for KZ2 were insane and the final game was VERY close to those trailers. Bought it at a midnight launch at GameStop and I spent the next several hours playing (remember taking off a day from work to play it).
I loved the 4 characters you could play as in KZ1 and was slightly disappointed KZ2 didn’t offer that. But what they made up for it was in the technical achievement in the game itself. It really felt like some futuristic war. Guns felt heavy, enemies flanked you and were unrelenting, and there were just a lot of cool moments overall.
The Last of US on PC has been patched a lot. It still has some issues but it has received 4 or 5 major updates since release. I played all the way through it and it looks amazing.
just finished the burning shores main quests this morning. i had a lot of fun with this story and the thngs they introduced in the world. hope this is an indicator for things they will do with the next game.
I don't know where reviewers get all this criticisms from but they praise other games that do less with gameplay and everything. I guess it's fashionable for these reviews to criticize horizon forbidden west
im absolutely loving disney speedstorm. i didnt quite get it at first but the game being entirely based around keeping your boost up and the way different characters function being different reminds me a lot of CTR with how much you can optimize your racing
I platinumed West at 99hrs, I’m about 4 hrs into Shores and absolutely love it, completely agree with Bless, I can’t believe how great this game looks from npc to environment and I can not wait for Horizon 3. There has been some minor cutting graphic issues like Janet said. I was hoping Catalina island would be there and have a Easter egg from TLOU2 but that’s just me.
Loving Burning Shores so far. Almost done with the main quest and it's been great. Aloy's progression as a character from Zero Dawn to Burning Shores is a joy to watch.

I got a kick out of the Jurassic Park references
I got a kick out of the fact the only real machine we got besides the second variant of the sun wing that can now serve as a under water mount was a fking frog. A damn frog. I am not hating on the frog or the DLC but I have my issues with it. I wouldn't mind the frog had we gotten a shark, or other under water machine, under water combat, a few new dinosaur machines which would have totally fit with the version of the Jurassic park in the game. I am disappointed by the lack of new machines and was hoping to see a few machines return that didn't make it into the game from Horizon Zero Dawn. I am also disappointed by how many bugs the DLC has and I've rewritten the story in my head where Seyka is Ikrie from the frozen wilds who came to the burning Shores to try and find her place and came upon the Quin and they took her in so she could help them but her friend she met disappeared and she stole to focus to try and find her friend. Everything else is the same in my mind but damn it Gurrilla you should have had it be Ikrie instead of Seyka. I love the actress they chose but Ikrie and Aloy had a spark between them and they should have had her be in Seyka's place so I am pretending the did. 😂 I also wish we got a side quest with Brin and that the DLC story ended with us one small step closer to being able to take on Nemesis in the 3rd game but unfortunately the DLC didn't do a single thing to set that up except improve upon combat and the world. I am not hating I still give the DLC a solid 8/10 but I have those things I was hoping the DLC would bring and it didn't. Another thing I was excited for was a golden fast travel pack and that wasn't added either. If they weren't going to do that they should have at the very least added a water wing spot in the main map so we could get that earlier into the game before we have to finish the game to begin the DLC. I love what they did but I wouldn't complain at all if they gave us an update that added a water wing spot to the main map or a golden fast travel past. I hope this DLC isn't the only DLC because if so it leaves the game feeling less complete then before we had the DLC.

Agreed. It's insane on my LG C9! I also recommend Balanced mode with HDR adjusted to make the colors pop more. The Fidelity mode (1 of 2 modes when I played HFW) always seemed a little too "sharp", but this fixes it while also making it play smoother and with less latency. I dig the uncapped Performance mode they now have, but it just brings it down to a near PS4/Pro level with lower settings and lower res.
Almost done with forbidden west soon as I get done I’m definitely jumping into this, great review KFG!
Love that the DLC takes place after the game instead of like Frozen Wilds being before the end of Zero Dawn. Way less confusing, imo.

The visuals are great, but surprisingly I encountered A LOT of pop-in throughout my playthrough so far (6 hours in)
The Frozen Wilds was one of the best DLC's I've ever played, better than the main campaign even, so it wouldn't surprise me if Burning Shores follows suit.
wasnt better than the main campaign but an amazing continuation, and really builds on alloys character more
the water sections are fun in forbidden west.

I wanted to hear them talk about the toy bow you find in one of the buildings. I hear it is a reference to TLOU2 and I wondered what they thought about it as they are big fans of TLOU2
As much as I love the Horizon series, they have GOT to nail the melee combat. That's what is holding this series back.

Biggest gripe is melee is still weak and better climbing. If GG nails these, it’ll finally be a 10/10 for me and not 9/10

Idk what it is but gurillas horizon dlcs always have more interesting story beats than the main story
I'm surprised that Janet seems to suggest that Alloy is too much of a friendly, helpful hero in the games. I have always seen her as the opposite. Someone who will help, but someone who hates everyone.

Burning Shores DLC is one of the best story DLCs for any game I’ve ever played. The final boss is one of the best boss fights of all time. Guerilla was really working overtime on this and I agree that this DLC felt like a more appropriate way to end Forbidden West’s main story. They still need to smooth some things out in terms of balancing and Alloy’s movement abilities because it becomes very clear towards the end of the DLC that these mega huge machines can move very fast, recover quickly, and dish out huge AOE attacks in such a way that really outpaces what Alloy can do even at hight levels with maxed out weapons and skill trees. They need to give Alloy a few more ways to actually counter certain types of attacks as opposed to just giving her ways to increase damage output. They also need to simplify the geometry of their boss arenas because I feel like I get stuck or cornered by enemy attacks way too often when I’m trying to dodge oncoming attacks or avoid splash damage. I appreciate how detailed the environments are when I’m exploring but they don’t need to be that involved when the player needs to keep the camera on a huge target in a closed off arena scenario. Anyone whose played the game as much as I have will know what I’m talking about.
The Final Boss gave me chills, I can’t wait to see what they do with Horizon 3

Tho, I dont even like to give credence to the idea that characters need to be "established" as gay. Nobody asks that of straight characters. If John Wick was portrayed as a single man in John Wick 1, and then his sexuality wasnt ever brought up, but then he has sex with a woman in John Wick 3, literally nobody would be going "oh it wasnt ESTABLISHED that he was straight in the previous films but now hes banging a woman!?" because those standards pretty much dont exist for straight characters at all.
@@MrBeesknees95 Well, that becomes a different conversation. The argument of whether you're born or develop into your sexuality is a pretty heated topic. Though we've seen Aloy giving out huge hints with Talanah, so her being queer has been in the works for 2 games. lol
the dlc is worth it. but dont expect any new gameplay or ps5 features. the gfx is better in 2 aspects. more flowers and butterflys, and clouds. There was no real reason to not have a ps4 version. god of war 3 on ps3 had more impressive setpieces..
you can see the matrix code when horizon comes up with Kinda Funny. its barely in any conversation but when kinds funny is talking about it it feels like it should be much cooler. either way not for me
Horizon is cool as ice. If it's not for you, it's not for you, but the cool factor is still there in spades, and arguably one of the coolest games you can play both in gameplay and actual setting/story. You just have to like Sci-fi.
@@Lampboi-jp6dt dont accuse me of not liking sci fi or bad ass robot dinos. so much surrounding this game is awesome but the game itself is lack luster. its so boring. aloy is a fuckin cardboard. i would rather be anyone else in that universe than aloy. the dialogue is so fuckin monotonous. its like im talking to someone at a water cooler about the weather. playing a game where you live in a post apocalyptic world with robot dinosaurs shouldnt feel like watching paint dry, but thats exactly what this game is.
