The people complaining in these comments take Ann's vocal range for granted in the original Heart recording. The people complaining in the Heart revival videos are doing the same thing. The original song is *inhuman,* and not even just vocally. The mastery of instruments on display here is pretty astounding as well. I love this performance, it's bold as hell, and expecting it to be as good as the original is sadly missing this for how amazing it is already.
There are so many people who can sing this gong very, very well. Shara did a great job. The other lady was frustrating. It's not hate. I KNOW she has a lovely voice. It makes me smile. It's just that this wasn't her shining moment. It was a bit out of her range and she doesn't carry the power. But at least they had fun. That's what playing should be about first
What do you mean the original song is "inhuman"? You mean that in the positive way I suppose? As in not many could replicate? I love the Decemberists and was really hoping to hear this in Colin's yodely style! That's my only real disappointment since I never expect much from covers of my favorite songs.
Neither is Ann Wilson, but nor is Ann Wilson My Brightest Diamond or Lavender Diamond. And really, it shouldn't be forgotten that this was just a bit of fun they started doing for the encore during these shows.
I saw the Decemberists play this in Portland, their hometown at a venue where Heart was playing in a few weeks. It was an awesome homage from one Northwest band to another. So much fun.
Agreed, in person is the way to see this. They did this live in Nashville last night, sounded great and was an awesome surprise for The Decemberists! Shara Worden stole the show, such a voice, I love her.
This had to be the hazards of love Tour. These ladies have super powerful voices, and Ann Wilson is a freakin alien in terms of what she is able to sing. I like fun, not some note for fucking note playback. This is great!
Every single comment I see is only positive. Are there deleted comments to the contrary that I'm not seeing? I thought the song was a good choice for the vocalists.
Saw them on this tour in Milwaukee, down in the pit no less. They absolutely killed it throughout the whole show, but this song was a delightful surprise and huge highlight. Thrilled to revisit these many years later! Never miss The Decemberists in concert if you get a chance - their live performances are astonishing ❤
They closed the show I saw in Kansas City with this song. @Edazon92, at least when I saw them they played the entire intro that Nancy Wilson plays in the Heart version. This performance also seemed understated to me, but only because in KC Shara Worden _peeled the paint_ off the walls her voice was so awesome!
Shara Wordern, now Shara Nova. Her regular band is My Brightest Diamond - unfortunately, she doesn't rock out as much with them as she did with the Decemberists, but it's still really beautiful
This is about as good of a cover as possible for this ridiculous song. The original is untouchable, but shouldn't take away from the quality here. Well done
True, this song isn't the best to show it, but Shara Worden is a musical genius with an exquisitely controlled, thrilling, and truly beautiful voice, so it's a bit like watching Sonny Rollins doing a Bruce Springsteen cover and saying "The horn player with the beard is no match for Clarence Clemons". Clemons, the Wilsons, fine musical talents, not trying to take anything away from them. Just that Shara Worden is a whole lot more than a pretty songbird.
@@KindCountsDeb3773 I don't know any of the band members names but when you look up "The Decemberists" it's an emo band with a male vocalist. I wanna hear this band with the two women as lead vocals.
@yourhybridtheory, it's good that you like what they do on albums, but don't let this be your song to judge how well they do live, watch some other videos. They are epic and amazing all the time, live or recorded. Watch anything live from the hazards of love tour (probably not called that) but anything live from that album is awesome. Percussion everywhere. Absolutely fabulous in every way.
I was there, and you guys who are saying they didn't rock this tune don't know what the fuck you're speaking of. This was a nice surprise for any Decemberists fan at the show.
Colin is fucking insane in this video. He's jumping around the stage like a maniac and I love it. I can't wait for them to come to chicago... unless they already did...
They were playing it for shits and giggles man, this song isn't in their usual rotation. It was a cover just for fun and it's pretty easy to see by the way Colin, Shara and Becky are dancing around and smiling.
Thank you for coming all the way to one of their videos to let us know this. Now please leave. Don't let the screen door hit you in the ass on the way out. On second thought, please do.
@NMAfreak i must agree with that, but the decembs are something different.. they don't play in the usual way, they had to change some things in order to make the song more playable for them, and plus, i bet none of them actually practised this song very much before the concert, they did, but not in a way to know every chord right

@@shahana_style Becky Stark. Her name is Becky Stark.
Lol, yeah, you know how talented Heart is when you hear other people try to cover it and butcher it. This one is pretty good.
Forget the hate in these comments, this is beautiful and look at the fun they're having.
Jeffrey Koval and her legs are real shiny too.
I saw the Decemberists play this in Portland, their hometown at a venue where Heart was playing in a few weeks. It was an awesome homage from one Northwest band to another. So much fun.
What's super funny is the people dissin' this like their p.c gives some sort of clear representation of the actual event. The decemberists kickass.
I saw Heart live 3 times in the 70's when they were peaking.
This is pretty cool.
This song topped off one fo the better concerts I've ever seen. Totally out of nowhere but when they played it, it was perfect.
Jordan Ducharme and by perfect you mean horrid, right?
I also remember them blowing my mind playing this for an encore after an already brilliant Hazards of Love performance.
Agreed, in person is the way to see this. They did this live in Nashville last night, sounded great and was an awesome surprise for The Decemberists! Shara Worden stole the show, such a voice, I love her.

This. All of this!
I don't care what everyone else is saying. I think this cover is excellent.
Every single comment I see is only positive. Are there deleted comments to the contrary that I'm not seeing? I thought the song was a good choice for the vocalists.
This is a perfect example of a cover. If I’d been in the audience I would have gone, well - crazy.
When did Heart fans become so bitter? Jeez. This is a great cover!!
I was at this concert absolutely epic performance still one of my all-time fav concerts even now. Brotherhood! (its an MN thing)
I was at this show and they rocked it, it was electrifying, and a surprise finale.
This is an extremely hard song to cover. Not only are they honoring Heart they are having a blast doing it. The vibe is so much fun
This is such a good performance I remembered seeing it live 9 years ago :)
Great job.....this is a hard song to do...Heart is no joke !
I fucking love this version!!! Anne takes you to so many heights and emotions. These ladies do the same! It's brilliant!!!
Brave and hilarious! living out their childhood hairbrush is a microphone fantasy.. I love it!
I saw them at Edgdefield (near Portland) and this cover was incredible, I'd never heard the song before but I loved it right away
I was there, and it blew my mind. Absolutely awesome.
They are having so much fun performing this, it's adorable! Love the song; awesome job on the cover.
Great nod to the coolest women in rock. I am sure that A & N would appreciate this cover from a fellow NW band. Rock on!
I just listened to this in sync with my personal recording from the event and it was ORGASMIC.
I Love This Band SOOOOOOOOO Much!!!!!!!!!! The drummer is A DRUMMING GOD!!!!!!!
They're having so much fun, and they're all extremely talented.
Why does this band have to keep making them love them more and more all of the time?
A frequent encore on The Hazards of Love tour. I loved it at Bonnaroo 09.
Amazing performance
God, I loved this.
it sounds very good. Great performance!
That's a great cover right there fans!!!
Shara's voice gives me goosebumps
Damn...solid solid cover. Just discovered the Decemberists through a buddy....great job!!!
As somebody who missed out on tickets for this show, I am so glad I get to see at least some of it on RUclips. =)
Wow you wouldn't know I from lookin at them but these boys and girls can rock. Great take on this classic old song from our youth.
I love this cover so very much
I've heard them play this live twice and I never could clearly understand them or hear their voices all that well. Thanks 4 vid!
That was awesome. I love Heart Ang you can tell they do too
Can we fuckin get this on spotify like NOW
They closed the show I saw in Kansas City with this song. @Edazon92, at least when I saw them they played the entire intro that Nancy Wilson plays in the Heart version. i love this girl w short hair's voice... not familiar with band but shes killer
Shara Wordern, now Shara Nova. Her regular band is My Brightest Diamond - unfortunately, she doesn't rock out as much with them as she did with the Decemberists, but it's still really beautiful
Who is the girl with the long hair?
Becky Stark from Lavender Diamond.
love it , love it , love it!
YES! I just saw them last night in Tulsa. It was nuts!
they're so cute!!!!!!!!!!! couldn't be happier to do the song XD
Very out of (what I thought was) their comfort zone but they rocked it!!!
Shara Worden = ROCK GODDESS. I am in love.
This is about as good of a cover as possible for this ridiculous song. The original is untouchable, but shouldn't take away from the quality here. Well done
I disagree.
found this one: ruclips.net/video/dIuyAJ2lFb4/видео.html
This is the only thing I remember from this show.
I saw them do this in Milwaukee - it was SO GOOD X-D
Awesome. Thanks for sharing. Please post more.
what the hell are these people saying?,this is a TOUGH song to sing, they did VERY well
one of the best cover i've ever seen!
I LOVE her voice so much, always have :) and yes you're right.
@Browncoat1138 they were in Chicago three times last year. I seen them do Hazards of Love start to finish at the Riviera, it was phenomenal!
I was at this concert. It was incredible
Along with First Aid Kit's rendition, the best versions of the song I've ever heard.
Genius! Just like everything they do!
Yes! 😍
I think these ladies did an excellent job!
OK, they're not as "balsie" as Ann and Nancy but I still detected some chills at 2:41. This gang has fun! Wish I could see em live!
wow, They sound just like heart, great work amazing cover :O
Man! Heart Purists sure aren't any fun. But that was great! It's a sentiment to the versatility of The Decemberists. Awesome.
this is awesome!!!
More Rock the Garden footage, please!
The Decemberists own an SG?!?!?!
Damn ....wish I was there !!!
She dances like 'Josie Geller' from Never Been Kissed at one point. Simply fantastic :D Amazing voices!
Damn good cover... The lady with the short hair really did a good job with the vocal. Ann would be proud :)
Damn that's awesome.
the singer has a fantastic voice
Wish I had been there!!!
Can these two just make a band already? I don't even listen to The Decemberists but I'd listen to these two make a record.
who are you referring to?
@@KindCountsDeb3773 I don't know any of the band members names but when you look up "The Decemberists" it's an emo band with a male vocalist. I wanna hear this band with the two women as lead vocals.
Sorry haters, as much as I love First Aid Kit, this is the definitive version of this work of art
LOVE IT!!!!!
ha peeps dissing the two ladies should pick up The Hazards of Love. They are both more Grace Slick than they are Ann Wilson.
@yourhybridtheory, it's good that you like what they do on albums, but don't let this be your song to judge how well they do live, watch some other videos. hey they look like there having a good time!!!!!!! its cool!!!!!
I was there, and you guys who are saying they didn't rock this tune don't know what the fuck you're speaking of. This was a nice surprise for any Decemberists fan at the show.
I got to see a soundcheck of this song with about 15 other people. It felt larger than life.
Love it
Colin is fucking insane in this video. He's jumping around the stage like a maniac and I love it. I can't wait for them to come to chicago... unless they already did...
this is insanely Epic. Nerdgasm
I LIKE IT !!!
This shit rocks. Bump the haters. This cover was everything, are you kidding?!
pretty friken sweet cover
a tuff song 2 cover but i'm happy 2c them do it.
Perfect!
also love those moves!
This is pretty badass :D
They were playing it for shits and giggles man, this song isn't in their usual rotation. It was a cover just for fun and it's pretty easy to see by the way Colin, Shara and Becky are dancing around and smiling.
Thank you for coming all the way to one of their videos to let us know this. Now please leave. Don't let the screen door hit you in the ass on the way out.

❤❤❤
this is really great id give it 4*s
Wow is that Shara from My Brightest Diamond? What a blast!
Sorry haters, but this is epic. AND it's touching and funny and lovely and just the kind of surprise that takes a good live show into the stratosphere
3/4 in and wow.
why is the guy on the acoustic standing in a shadow? but I love the electric riff, its one of the things I warm up with every time i pick up my guitar
@NMAfreak i must agree with that, but the decembs are something different.. they don't play in the usual way, they had to change some things in order to make the song more playable for them, and plus, i bet none of them actually practised this song very much before the concert, they did, but not in a way to know every chord right
