Saw them on tour for this album in Raleigh. Amazing singer. I’ve seen many of the all time greatest bands and this song may be the best live moment I’ve ever experienced.
Whoa. Obviously they sound really good but then, sometime during minute 4, they suddenly sounded even better because that's when I finally realized that they were outdoors! I was so transfixed on the performers that I didn't notice initially. Wow! Hat's off to them and their sound crew. Absolutely top notch.
Not just outdoors but it looks like in the middle of a pretty heavy rain - check out the upper left of the frame at 4:20 (also all the cameras are covered and the stage looks wet at 4:29)
Female voices were interesting, the lead female vocalist and the heavy riff are the stars of this show. She is a living loud speaker, maybe her mic wasn't even functioning, she just sings loud and proud. Makes me feel both big and small, a child carried in the arms of her soundwaves.
@@stevenbconrad Agreed. We saw it at Lolla that year and it was incredible. Top 25 all time album for me....and I'm old as dirt....The full live NPR debut (kind of) is worth getting your hands on.
Goddamn. I do love My Brightest Diamond but if Shara did more heavy stuff like this song, or collabed with the Decemberists again, i'd be a fainting goat in excitement. She's such a badass.
Yeah so, some of the "fan" base didn't like this album. So, i gotta ask. Were the lyrics to advanced for your high school education? Reading books really help your vocabulary...just saying. I'll tell you what, next time a song carries a word you dont understand. Just go listen to Taylor swift, that beeootch teletubby vocabulary will be perfect for you! 😂
Absolutely insane. There are few albums that I would call perfect, this is one of them. From what I've read, it seems fans at the time didn't like how different it sounded from their previous work. No need to bash other artists though.
Goosebumps every time Shara hits that last note.
Absolutely!
Goddamn she slays as a stage performer.

She’s the glue. For sure. I’ve got chills.
She's an absolute force of nature.
I know a lot of the fanbase didn't like this album, but personally I think it's phenomenal.
personally, I love a lot of the songs on the album, even though I’m not really a big fan of the album as a whole
Annan Water is my favorite song in their whole catalog.
@@prestontucker9922 Love Annan Water. I think After the Bombs is my personal favorite.
I think it's their best album. Better even than the Crane's Wife.
@@simoncordingley3122 For me their best album is Picaresque.
HOLY SHIT!!!! THIS PERFORMANCE WAS INCREDIBLE...when she came out SHIT GOT REALLLLL!!
WTF? This is one of the best pieces of music around!
Shara is a great compliment to the Decemberists. I hope they do more together.
FANTASTIK!!! And what?? By far their best progressive album...and yes, Shara Nova hitting that last high note is awesome, goosebumps!!
Phenomenal. What a privilege it was to see a show on this tour.
One of the best live performances of all time
Damn this song kicks ass

Absolutely beautyful song, but this live performance... WOW! Absolutely stunning!
Shara Worden (Nova) is my inspiration (as a vocalist)
She's amazing, love to sing this song!
Love her power!
I’ll nvr forget this tour! So amazing
My brother and sister got to she the entire album performed live on Chicago. So jealous.
God woke up listening to this one
Wow... Shara owned that, walking away... great post... good sound board... #Gratitude
They did a shortened version years ago on Later With Jools Holland. It was a show stopper
They played this at the Brooklyn paramount show so good!!

She's terrific
Yah, she’s awesome! I think that’s Shara Nova, who did guest vocals on this album
@@TheRandomhobo123 Sure is Shara.
Shara Worden.
@@wayneelliott7011*Nova. She and her ex husband divorced a while back.
Thanks! I’ve been searching for this performance on here for years.
God I wish there was a full recording...was there and to this day one of the best shows I've seen
@@stevenbconrad Agreed. We saw it at Lolla that year and it was incredible. Top 25 all time album for me....and I'm old as dirt....The full live NPR debut (kind of) is worth getting your hands on.
She broke her leg during this performance and continued on. What a trooper. .
so so so SO fantastic..!!!
Not known for the blues rock sound, but damn this one rips.
An amazing live version

A great moment in rock history. And I'm not really a fan of this group.
Her voice is really similar to Florence Welch, but honestly better imo
Do you happen to have the performance of this song on Jools Holland?
I have this performance but unfortunately it is blocked when I tried to upload it. Most of the "Jools Holland" contents are now protected by the BBC.
@@mrhg943 Oh man that's a pity, no worries though thank for the reply.
@@mrhg943 such a pity -- that performance was absolutely outstanding.
Somewhere, Frank Zappa is smiling...
Boa Banda esa voz kkkk , tira a Anita no chinelo kkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Not real pleased with the mix. The lows come through great, but the highs sound tinny.
