haha i learned this after i made the video. this was a while back and I don't remember the product all that well, but it didn't wash out that well. it was like a typical grease pomade. it took several shampoo and conditioner treatments to get it out.
Hey man! I tried making my own pomade but kept getting really large clumps after it dried. Is there any reason why? And how I can I fix it? Love the video brother
It’s really tricky! It’s been awhile since I tried my hand at it but I used to get similar results. You really have to play around with ratios. There is a group on Facebook called Oil Based Pomade Enthusiasts. They all were really helpful. Someone on that group would be better suited to answer your question. I haven’t tried to make another one since this vid. I appreciate the support
I know your comment is old but let it cool naturally, don't put it in your fridge, also too much beeswax might end up with clumping up. Generally I don't go above 20% beeswax or any other wax.
@@randallgoulet1550 corn starch, potato starch are commonly used, or your can take it a step further and use clay, the most common being kaolin or bentonite. Be wary tho that with bentonite you can't use any metallic ustensils when making the pomade as it will basically create a chemical reaction that will greatly reduce the effects of bentonite of not completely. Personally I always use kaolin as it is easier to find for me and I don't need to worry about metal entering in contact with it.
From what I can remember the hold was decent and obviously the more build up you have the better. It would have probably been on more of the lighter side tho
It pronounces hohoba oil. I think you overcomplicated everything with oils. You could use just any high monounsaturated or saturated oil (just avoid poly bc they tend to look too greasy) - jojoba, olive or avocado seems to be just fine or coconut oil or she for less shine more heavy product. Petrolatum though would be the most heavy least shiny option. No need to mix em.
Hi! Thank you for the video. How long can this pomade last before it goes bad?
Thank you for posting amazing video :)
No problem 😊
A silicone spatula would make it easier to collect. Thank you for the video.
Very true!
Jojoba is said hohobuh, Shea butter is said shay ;) how well does this wash out.

Can you do this without shea butter
Can you forgo the beewax?
Do you need arrow root? Is that to thicken it up?
It’s to take some of the oiliness out so it’s not overly shiny
@@chanthebarber_1 thanks bro. Anything else I can use to do that?
@@randallgoulet1550 Corn starch can do the same.

Forgot to mention that clay will give more texture to your product and the hairstyles you're doing with it.
Lol might as well say Jaba the hut 😂
😂
Tip: measure your ingredients and take notes.
thanks for the tip
And the hold?

Thanks for the suggestions!
How to mix petro should I need to heat it up before mixing with oils?

haha oops
Weigh your ingredients. Don't just do it by volume.
good tip! I haven't tried my hand at it since but next time I'll be sure to weigh it out
