It certainly was interesting and helpful. I'm sure the name of the pen will bring back memories of those old films with Captain Nemo and his submarine, the Nautilus. Created, of course, by Jules Verne. I love the little port holes in the barrel. My understanding is that Nahvalur produce all components for their pens in-house. I guess that includes the nibs. Your pen wrote beautifully. Now I want one!
Their website didn't help, but if they are actually producing their own nibs, that's quite technical. The feed was familiar: I've seen it on a lot of pens.
But this pen had a beautiful, well-considered design. And it was fun!
I have an earlier Nautilus, has Narwhal on cap band, yours might have, it blends in with the carvings. It is made from ebonite. Feed is a typical injection molded feed found on many Chinese pens, has a number in a circle on feed, neither Jowo or Bock have that. Navalur pens made in Taiwan, have a CA division. I enjoy my Nautilus for the same reasons as you do. My B nib writes great.
With all the swirls and curlicues, I needed my loupe to see it: you're right, it does say "Narwhal." Yes, I've seen a lot of these feeds, including on a Stipula pen. Thank you for filling in that they're made in Taiwan. I couldn't figure out exactly where they were made from the information I found.

I have the same pen except with a fine nib, which is a wet writer. I love writing with it. The portholes are a great touch to the pen. Enjoy yours!

I love the design of this pen, the portholes and the overall coloring. And I also very much like how it feels in the hand (my first and so far only ebonite pen) and writes (mine has a medium nib). Thanks for another entertaining video. 😊

It's a beautiful pen, with an attractive steampunk aesthetic. I hope to own one some day.

Nice pickup! Sleek looking pen. The porthole ink window has always intrigued me with Nahvalur pens. Their nibs are great. I have an Original+ pen with a wet medium nib that writes excellent but I can only imagine a double broad.

Nice to see your first impression of this wonderful pen. I've been pretty impressed with now Navahlur (nee Narwhal) pens and have added a few. I picked up this exact model to add to my rotation....but it writes so nicely that I just keep inking it up and haven't rotated it out! The steel nib (mine is in F) writes very smoothly and feels to me to be in Diplomat-Faber Castell territory. The portholes are a nice design element though I need some pretty strong light behind them to see until my ink gets pretty low.
I was loaned one once. This is my second one. And I'm really enjoying it! Wonderful design on it: they really thought this theme through the whole pen.
Hey another great 1 imp. For some reason your pix are better for me than other reviewers. Dang, now I am interested, ha, ha, as a despiser of m or b. I could get this BB to learn and get the hang of writing with wider nibs, while normally using it reverse as a normal XF edc. BTW, my “anecdotal info” is that the new spelling for the company name is the Icelandic spelling for the animal, and is still pronounced “narwhal” in English.
I just use an ordinary iPhone 8 for my pictures.
Wider nibs are fun, but not all the time. I like them when I have a fun ink, especially for letter writing.
That would be fun if it's still pronounced as "narwhal"!
Great review. Just a fun fact - The Company is still pronounced Narwahl, it is now written in its Icelandic form.

The pen is a Nahvalur which is an Icelandic translation of Narwhal their original name.
I knew the meaning. I'm a bit curious why the change and why Icelandic particularly.
There is a company called NarwhalCo in Highland,Utah who make wallets and pens, perhaps they copyrighted the name and objected to another company using a similar name?
When a pen keeps anything Parker Quink wet as long as this does... 😁
Shape is kinda pre "Great War," IMO. It looks like a 1910s "safety" shape. (Screw on cap, not the type that the nib retracts.)
Like others, I think I've read that they are actually made in mainland China, and the business end is California. And that doesn't scare me away from the brand in the least. Being Chinese made, I bet that the nibs are either made in house or the same source as many Chinese nibs (which are generally pretty decent nowadays.)
It's seriously the model I'd like to get from the company. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it!

Thanks, Waski. I've always been interested in this pen. I looked at the new Peter Draws version today, too. And the TSBI 580 Iris. I'll probably pass on all three, but they are interesting.
The TWSBI Iris pens are interesting! I've passed on them, but I keep looking at them. I was really impressed with this pen!

The “feel” of this model is outstanding to me, so I have a couple of them and keep noticing when another one comes out and is tempting 😁

It's absolutely a wonderful model! It feels good and it's gorgeous!
The garden harvest was terrible. Growing conditions weren't ideal. More to the point: with my classes, something had to give, and this summer it was the garden. I'm finally harvesting some tomatoes and beans.
Well--at least there's that, but I guess nothing to preserve for the winter. HOUSTON'S heat has been so brutal this summer, that I noticed DEAD trees from lack of water and the heat. Tomorrow is supposed to hit 110-- the hottest ever recorded in Houston recording history, it we hit it. The most anxious thing is worrying about our power grid holding. Sorry about the whine--you do have cold

Apparently they are still pronounced the same way. I’ve got one of the green/brown combo horizons with a stub nib. Writes well as long as you keep using it.

I wrote it down incorrectly once, and then copied from there!
I think this is their best model. Their nibs have been bad for me but they are easy to swap for any interesting jowo or bock I have
That's good to know! I do like this nib, but it's good to know I can swap it if I so choose.
I have a Nautilus with a medium nib. It writes well, but I struggle with the porthole ink window. I really can't see the ink level unless I use a flashlight and angle it just right, and then only when the pen is nearly empty. I think it's because the portholes are not directly across from each other. It's just too dark
Four portholes would have been better. This makes me think of the Lamy 2000: I can't guess ink level there either. But, when the pen is getting close to empty, I know it's time to fill it.

I don’t have a pen from this brand yet. I have occasionally been tempted to buy one, though. Any pen with an ebonite body and a made-in-house nib is a pretty tempting and ideal combination.
I don't know exactly what was going on with the name of the company. I liked the Narwhal name. Those whales just look cool! I'll respect whatever legal problems they're dealing with, and I'm glad they kept this really cool whale as their mascot!
I was not aware there were legal issues with the naming I thought they did it for SEO. I also remember watching i think an sbrebrown video where he said that he heard from them that it was still pronounced narwhal.
SEO makes sense too. I suppose this name is less common than Narwhal.

Yes, I copied the spelling down once from the box, and did so incorrectly. And the mistake multiplied from there.
