It would be nice if you'd identify which guy is Chase Young in the initial clip. I didn't see anyone not trying. One guy missed a tackle but again who?
100%. I'm a Giants fan and saw it twice a year. I worried about everyone else on that dline over chase. That's why you have to avoid the hype trains on these guys coming out of college
As a Commanders fan, the fact that we got a high second-rounder for Sweat, who was subsequently signed to a long term deal by the Bears, while we got a late third-rounder for Young, says it all.
NFL trades are so useless I’ve realized. I guess it’s mostly because of money, but like I don’t even get how a multiple all pro defender gets dealt for a 3rd round pick or something🤷♂️. Like that Stephon Gilmore trade comes to mind. I truly think it’s crazy though.
@@user93279 Dude, this isn't even close to the Gilmore trade. Gilmore was traded b/c the Colts didn't have enough cap space and only got a 5th round pick. But, he was a DPOY, 2x First Team All-Pro, 5x Pro Bowler & Interception Co-leader. I love Sweat but he only made 1 Pro Bowl and that's it. We got him at the 26th pick and had him for 4 years on a rookie contract and traded him for a 33rd pick (No noticable difference in NFL Draft). So, now we're going to get another player on a rookie contract basically where we got Sweat and can use that $$ we saved on an impact free agent. I know that's how the Commanders look at it. They view it as draft capital and that's why they have the most free agent $$ in the NFL this year. Just a little education
I remember when the Dolphins traded Jarvis Landry to the Browns for a 5th or 6th. I was fuming. He was our best WR, Multiple 1200 plus yard seasons, even a 1500 and I think all pro and we get scraps. I feel ya.@@user93279
@@user93279You aren’t trading for past production. The types of players that warrant high draft capital in trades are some combination of young, elite, and on a cheap contract. Basically the types of guys who will never hit free agency.
@fullofmuscledownunde cuz that's the biggest stage. He only performs when he knows all eyes are gonna be on him. Believe me had to deal with this for 3 years in DC as a Redskins/Commanders fan 🙄
@@raymondsmith2040He played great in the Super Bowl but the game was close coming down to the wire where any extra effort could’ve possibly shifted the outcome. Who knows how more effort from him could’ve possibly changed the dynamic of the game. It seems when he really tried he was wreaking havoc and then he’d take full plays off. As a Redskins fan watching this it must be really frustrating because you know and experienced it firsthand on multiple occasions watching this guy. As a niners fan I’m just learning the reason why he’ll never be an elite player despite all his talent. Thanks for the confirmation.
This is the most unbiased take on young I’ve seen. As a Washington fan, dude has talent/ but as you say when he accepts defeat, he just needs to go be apart of the play…you never know when you can punch a ball loose or recover a fumble
@@lc8671 He didn't get paid, yet. He is still in his rookie contract. First off, if that's how little you think of your teammates and your coaches and your team then that weak sauce is on you
That's the thing. As a Commanders fan we already seen it all. He chooses to be exactly what you see. He has no desire to get better. He's the richest Cheerleader on the field. And, why you're excusing him taking any plays off in the SB is beyond me. If you're tired than come off the field. But, nope he's not even a good teammate. He'll just stand out there wasting someone else's opportunities. I feel bad for 49'ers fans because he's an enigma. You see the talent right in front of you and you try and make sense of it but, trust me you won't. Whoever signs him to a long term deal deserves what they're about to get
Probably a cardio issue too, he’s a big boy and we all know they get tired. Also probably more fast twitch than a lot of the more finesse/power guys instead of speed/power guys
Chase Young was nothing more than the highest paid Cheerleader on the Commanders. He was from Maryland & everyone was excited to see him come home and play for the Burgundy & Gold. Anyone telling you they wanted to trade back or didn't want him is lying. He was all the hype in the DMV for his first year & won the D.RO.Y. After his rookie year he was garbage. He did nothing to improve from year 1 to year 2. He had only one move, the swim move and once teams stopped that he was nothing more than statue on the field. His last 2 years he was afraid to get on the field. He just kept saying he was hurt. He was so pitiful, that when he was about to get traded he had his dad call the local radio stations and try to stump for him. A professional NFL player getting his dad to call the radio stations for him?!?! Wow. Then he went to a SB caliber team and still just stands around. 49'ers must've asked Bosa about him. I'd like to know what he said about him. If any team gives him a long term deal, i hope it buries your team for years to come. Garbage, just garbage.
I'm a Chase Young hater because I'm a Michigan fan. However, my main hater comment is gonna be that he only won the DROY award because of hype and how weak the competition was that year. When my Ravens passed up on him and let the 49ers have him, at first I was bummed because he is talented, but then I was relieved after seeing him do almost nothing on the 9ers. Montez Sweat on the other hand... The commanders should've kept him...
@@brennan2553 That's not how the Commanders look at it. They got him with the 32nd pick, had him for 4 years on a rookie contract and now traded him for the 33rd pick. They look at draft capital and now they get another player at basically the same spot for another 4 years without having to pay him big bucks and can use that money in other spots for the team. It's a unique way to look at it but I heard the radio talking about it
Raiders had Marcus Peters, pretty much do the same thing, just play when he felt like it. They would call it, "the bullfighter" where he'd kinda extend an arm out when the ball carrier would come towards him and then he would pull it back, lol. Jack Jones is such a major upgrade!
Seems like they're following a script. See the play in ot where mccaffrey gets like 25 yards on the short pass? Kc guy made no effort to bring him down or even push out of bounds. And Fred Warner let mahomes run right by him on the next drive. Those kind of plays is why people are saying it's WWE
Well marcus peters is playing CB at 31 years old. Chase young is 24 years old. CB is incredibly hard to do at older age cause of how much speed and running you have to do. Marcus injury affected his play and didn't get much playing 2021 and 2022. Peters is way past his prime meanwhile chase young should be in his prime right now.
@@CSM_Kobeni - You still are letting the team down. You as a CSM should know that if you aren't feeling it, you should be a true pro and let your position coach know, they should put in someone ready to do the job!
So glad Washington got rid of him, was glad we drafted him at the time but like most prospects, you draft them off of physical attributes and potential but you just can’t know what’s in their head until it’s too late
He was 100% worth that draft pick until he got injured. Defensive rookie of the year and looked like he was going to be great for us for a long time but just never was the same after his injury. Unfortunately was like RG3.. RG3 was another that was a great pick if he would’ve never had that injury
@RidgeLong I used to think that but I honestly think both Chase and RG3 biggest downfall were they're insufferable ego. The injuries were just icing on the cake.
Chase played well in his rookie season but the next offseason didn’t show up for any of the voluntary workouts and that showed he wasn’t that interested in putting in the work to get better.
A number 2 overall pick, and defensive rookie of the year shows that the ability is there, but a lack of effort at times, and frequently taking plays off isn’t a good look. But the biggest criticism he got in Washington was his lack of discipline in setting the outside edge and maintaining proper position, free lancing instead. It’s an indication of being a selfish player … and it shows up too frequently when he realizes he has lost his one on one, and not getting a sack. He then quits on the play. Washington didn’t actually call Young out by name, but we often heard comments after poor defensive performances like how some guys were not maintaining pass rush discipline, and doing too much free lancing, which was an indirect reference to Young, who was obviously the player the comments were referring to. It’s a shame. The guy could be a top DE in the league, and looking at a huge contract with a Super Bowl contender, but putting bad tape out there never goes away, and is never forgotten. Nothing worse than showing no effort on plays, especially in championship games for crying out loud. It’s one thing if you’re playing a regular season game against a poor opponent, and clearly winning the game, and you just get fatigued and take a few breathers. But taking plays off in a Championship game? That’s totally inexcusable.
He reminds me of Clowny. Lazy and entitled! Look at the other side at Bosa. His motor never slows down! He should be eating playing opposite of him! I'm a browns fan so I feel the same about Clowny with Garret. Then when he ever said they only care about getting Myles in the HOF by giving him the easier matchups SMFH. The most double teamed edge rusher in the NFL and u have the nerve to complain. The fact that u said that says all I need to know about u lol. Ur soft and lazy!
In his second year with Washington he was injured and ended up out for the year. At the beginning of the season he was still injured. Even without him Washington's defense started playing really well without him. Riviera heard Chase had recovered from his injury. Riviera was concerned that Chase might destroy the chemistry of his defense. To me I don't think Riviera thought Chase was a team player. Riviera was kinda saying he was a selfish player.
Yes, he was like that in college. The big difference is when he wins the first contact, he keeps playing. In college, he won the vast majority. In the NFL against better opposition, you see how often he coasts after not winning first contact.
if a dude shows ANY of that in College...then NFL team that takes him DESERVES what they get...his laziness was ALREADY on film!! If he was already doggin it in College...what do you think he's gonna do after you give him $30 million! what a joke
If you watch any all pro highlight a lot of there big plays come off of continuing to pursue after the initial rush or pocket collapse, Bosa understands that
The play at the 10:10 mark of your video, I could picture Chase making a tackle on Mahomes for no gain had he stayed w it. The potential to pop that ball out was there too since he woulda been coming from the side
Fact of the matter is that the last two "generational" "once every 25-30 years" talents at DE have not lived up to their expectations. One of them was Chase Young, and the other was Jadeveon Clowney. Athleticism alone is just not enough to be great in the NFL.
show me one piece of evidence or even one draft analyst that said he was lazy in college. 16.5 sacks. checked every box. at the time in 2020 WASH made the best pic possible given the knowledge they had at the time. i think if anything, his injuries have slowed his motor.@@DarrelWashingtonJr9002
Stop making excuses for the bum, all I hear is, "he's got talent", "he's got talent", as a Washington fan, I never saw any talent, just half hearted effort & cheerleading.
When you expend a lot of effort, double teams, etc., it's important to manage your stamina. Save it for the next play. Jogging? He is moving toward the ball at all times. Also you have to be aware that Mahomes will run it back the other way and if slips back then you have to have someone to contain him. He has an impact every game every snap. How often was Bosa beating his double teams?
@@analyticalinsightReally? You really dont understand what he is saying? First thing he is saying is that the war in the trenches is done anaerobically, and some do that better than others. And when you're the defense who is attacking a high passing offense your stamina either has to be at a high level or you need to choose your battles so that you spread your stamina out. Also, sometimes your job is to contain. This means you need to go vertical to ensure you have not been pushed too far upfield or that your target...the QB has not stepped up into the pocket. On any given drive, the dfense has more energy expended than the offense. If there are three of your teammates getting ready to make the tackle, it makes sense to pursue lightly and save some of your energy. Do you pay this person as much as you would a Nick Bosa? No, always make sure you're not overpaying for average.
@@Chewy_GarageBandDad Having played football for15 years, i can clearly say no matter what your assignment. A players job is 100% effort on each play. Maybe you watched a different video than i did, but the video i watched show a player clearly doggin it half the time.
Chase had a strong Superbowl. I had noticed the lackadaisical effort on his part several weeks back and sent notes on several of the Niners media to that effect, that he's essentially just going through the motions and making an occasional play here or there. I really noticed it after Cle Ferrell went down and Chase was asked to play more snaps. Perhaps he just doesn't have the motor for it? He shows when he hustles, that he has the ability to do the job. And personality-wise, he seems a decent enough guy and will probably fit in well in any locker room. But, if I was in charge of the team, I will go for the slightly less talented player who could be counted on to do his job and give great effort all the time. He's going to command a significant contract and I couldn't justify the dollars spent for a talented player who excels with limited snaps. It pains me to say that, cause I like the guy.
You are on to something. He is no Nick Bosa.. this is why you dont pay him like a Nick Bosa. Some have a higher tolerance to Anaerobics than others. Or as you say..doesnt have the motor for all these reps.. Just make sure your not overpaying for average. Edit: With the right contract and another player in rotation with him, I think you see the lack of effort plays decrease.
@@Chewy_GarageBandDad Yes, I'd be willing to resign Chase to a lesser contract for essentially 30 snaps a game, but the question, as always, is would he and his agent go for it? I doubt it. The 2nd contract is the one where the player has to make hay.
@@kevinbrennan-ji1sothis is true. We have seen players fire their agents for not getting a deal done. Young has to look at his market value. He at least deserves this regardless of what fans think of him. And he is a PFF 74.

Can we talk about Bosa and how little production Niners got from him this year after paying a big contract and then having to pay extra for Chase Young to join the team and help him out.
@@Chewy_GarageBandDad And lack of energy, we can bring that argument to most, outside guys, they were just put on HIGH ALERT, because of their sorry recent time, the past few months...
I'm not understanding why they didn't put Bosa at RE. He's the highest paid DE in the game, one the best pash rushers out. Chase usually played LE in Washington, so why he was switched in SF is beyond me.
He loafed in college too on occasions so this comes as no surprise. It is so frustrating to see such incredible talent wasted. He will blame his injury in year 2 but he did nothing in the 8 or so games he played prior to that injury. He decided he arrived before he actually had. Hopefully a new team/coach can motivate him and see his potential.
This is a wonderful close look at a crucial issue. And it is very fair in commentary. Good points are made on both sides, for sure. On the other hand, Chase lessens effort when he accurately knows he's out of the play. It is difficult to see how his attempts (in this game) hurt the team in any material way. Still, Bosa etc never give up. That's a key difference. Well noted. The evidence here does change my view: there is plenty of room for improvement for Chase.
Chase Young is a slightly better version of Vernon Gholston. NY Jets can relate to having a former Ohio State stud DE that lacked effort but had all the physical attributes in the world.
If he does stay in SF another season I hope he buys in to the team mentality of giving the most effort, I think a full of season and full season will change his mentality, he’s young hopefully he matures.
One of the things that bothered me about Chase was he wanted to rush from the upright stance while in Washington. I think the coaches wanted him down to keep his pads low on his get-off. At least he was willing to change for the 49ers. People in DC constantly made excuses for him, saying he was always double teamed, but that wasn't very often, in truth.
He does get held a lot though. And going vertical or standing up as everyone is saying is also indicative of containment where looking up to make sure you have not been pushed too far upfield and making sure the QB has not stepped up into the box is a necessity.
One thing he did at Washington was he would stop rushing, stand up, and leap up in the air (ball was not thrown his way!). After a while, the O tackle would notice this and push him back when he was in the air. That was funny to me.
It always happens to some players... the money (satisfaction) slows them down. And some make business/life decisions before big hits in the league. While in college, they have a relentless hunger to get paid. Like, mot college students... I don't judge them at all. I'm sure if I made 20+million. I'd give less "effort" getting up in the mornings.
I know he doesn’t always show effort but it’s still good enough that made plays against the holding chiefs so I ain’t really go much hate and plus huge upgrade with the saints

Talent is not enough in the NFL you've got to have the desire the determination to be in on or making the play at all times. Also the commitment to continuously working to improve yourself as a player. If he wants to get a mega second contract he needs to understand these things ASAP. Go Hawks
Idk whether it’s a new level of effort to conserve energy. Like in boxing u can’t go 100% all the time, but I think. This season was too long too many guys playing he while game, it’s either corrupted players and teams with gambling or it’s taking breathers to conserve total energy
Good video. Now do one picking out all the no calls for holding on the Chefs offensive line against Young and Bosa. I stopped counting at 10 in your video.
You could "call" holding on every play in the NFL. It isn't actually holding unless the officiating crew calls it holding. Unless the defensive player is holding on with their arms outside the framework of their body then they aren't calling it. Personally I think the game needs a rules reset and anytime that any player that isn't tackling grabs any uniform it should be holding.
@@gregoryharlston0602 I'll watch that video when someone puts it out like this one. Guaranteed far less and the 49ers Trent Williams did get called for a ticky tack holding penalty. Call it equally or don't call it all as Shanahan said to the refs after Williams was called.
His entire career was built on 1-2 huge games against inferior opponents at OSU. I’ve said this for years. In all the big games at OSU he was quiet and had little impact. Seems he’s the same in the NFL.
Chase was actually showing 90% effort early in his career especially his rookie season, I think the problem is that he’s just coming off a Bad ACL injury & out of shape rn, he probably gets tired quick & needs to condition
Coming from a Washington fan, look at the first game in a 49er uniform, you can see he had no effort in his play. seen this play in him several times. We should of kept Montez Sweat. He had a good super bowl, but I think he had to impress because he might be a free agent.
I'd still like to see a full year with him on the Niners so as long as he learns from this season. I'm not upset at the NFC Championship game jog, there were way too many Niners legs in the way for him to make a diving stop but seeing an idea of it in the SB is a cause for concern. I'd like to see Drake Jackson ready to go a full season.
His problem is he relied so much on his talent that he never built any skill. It worked in college, but not in the pros. He doesn't want to put in the work.
So around 1:53 you knock the left tackle for using both hands but the right tackle does it aswell, left guard and center are saved cause double team and the only one by your metrics that blocked someone well is the right guard
@@justynwilson925 Right, if you want to criticize any of these defensive lineman it should be Bosa for being over aggressive on key downs that cost his team the game. Even worse, he kept fucking doing it even until the last series of the game.
Not everyone has the same sized gas tank and its hard to watch because most people assume people with great athletic talent also have great stamina but they are two different things. Most of the time undersized passrushers get worn down by being run at but because hes big people think he doesnt expend to much energy to hold ground or beat blocks. Truth is hes a passing down olb shaped like a all 3 down DE. I will say this. He did perform at the combine. Thats weird for a passrusher
Maybe his conditioning is not the best so he’s trying to save himself for the big plays or the ones he starts to win. He definitely looks like he gives up too early and doesn’t understand that even though the play may not be in front of him, if he keeps grinding there’s a good chance he can still make a contribution.
As a Wash fan it hurt to let him go since he was a top 3 puck but he was really not making any impact after rookie season. Maybe the knee injury hurt him. I hope we get some good compensation for him 🙏🏼
cant blame Chase, he played for a franchise that did not care about winning! Washington, has been hype for the last 10 years, more so than Dallas. Thanks Dan! Think Champ Baily, Carlos Rogers, Antonio (Raiders Coach), Orakpo, Ryan Clark etc. Wish you well Chase!
A DL w/Chase Young and Randy Gregory in it is loaded with guys who look like Tarzan but play like Jane. Cowboys fans know both, very well. And it’s like Jimmy said, “Exhaustion makes cowards of us all.” That’s a rough take on a line that I believe was first uttered by Vince Lombardi.
Bosa and Warner weren’t good, either. I don’t know what Bosa was supposed to do against the option, but Chiefs were fooling him all night. Warner just ran out of steam in OT.
The most I've ever seen this actually mentioned, or even come close to being directly stated was in his quite low "Stamina" rating in Madden. Even though he's still got a quite overall rating, his stamina is much lower than what you would see for like any other player of a similar rating at his position.

Do you not know how to watch film? It's easy to identify him when the narrator points him out before every play. But I'll help you, jabroni. When the play is running to the right he's at the bottom of the screen. When Left he's at the top
Props to observation and film-breakdown; @7:50, as you put it, he has a tendency to "stand straight up", correct, Chase has a tendency to play with a high-center of gravity, and again @9:10, "accepts" a beat after the snap. He has a tendency to line line up wide, or pursue wide on the snap which is largely the reason he tore his right (outside) ACL, he placed too much pressure on his right knee breaking outside before a sharp inside move. Relies on snap speed, "get off" as you put it, and loses interest of that does not beat his man.
Standing straight up because his assignment is to contain and he needs to see if he has been driven to far into the backfield or is the QB has stepped up into the pocket . Look at his PFF pass grade. Its pretty damn high. This means he is doing what he is supposed to be doing.
I’ve been say it for quite a while now, back when he was with Washington…it appears that if he doesn’t get the results he’s looking for at the initial point of the play, he’ll gear down his effort significantly!
Yeah, he seems to get worn out. As a Washington fan, I've seen this a lot. Starts games out fantastic, then completely falls off towards the second half. You can't do this when you are touted at one point a generational talent #2 pick. We always compared him to Jadeveon Clowney, but he seems to be lesser than Clowney considering the 2023 Clowney had.
there is something to be said for concerving some extra effort and energy for the big money dowms and reps. when your team absolutely needs you to make a play. Chris Jones is exceptionally good at that. I guess you could try to argue Chase is trying to do the same thing. The difference is that Chase Young doesn't seem to deliver much in return when you do need him to. There's not much upside at all with him.
Nothing like going out for a Jog on a Sunday afternoon, so many people do it, I don't know why people Judge Chase Young for doing the same thing.... Goes out for a Jog, then watches the Football game being played around him... Fun times!! 💪🏻
Ive read that coaches in Washington would get frustrated with Chase because he wouldnt play within the scheme or defensive call and freelance all the time.
Chase has not been flashy and persistent in his 4 year stint and a lot of these highlights are problems on him of course. He’s being where most linebackers are with me i know he’s got the poise and urgency he needs a new defense and coordinator. If he came to Lambeau with us he’d instantly be a star him,Luke,Smith if he’s back hopefully i miss him,and Gary hell yeah baby. In Jeff Halsey defense he’d be the greatest everybody gave up on and we’d win the Super Bowl this year in New Orleans we need to make this happen and unleash his talent he’s got alot in him trust me. 👑👑👑👑👑😂😂👀👀👀👀🔥🔥🔥💪💪💪🏈😉👊🏾
One thing I will say in Chase's defense for the plays where you say he 'accepts' the loss on the rep - I think on some of those, he's simply keeping eyes on Mahomes in case he runs back his direction in order to keep contain on him. But I get your point.
What I'm seeing is a player who's aerobic capacity isn't up to where it should be. So he's redlining early but able to push through. Then later in the game it's harder to sustain that fully anaerobic effort so his play drops off.
I remember how before he was drafted, people and scouts made a big deal about chase being dominated by another future 1st round LT while at Ohio state… I didn’t think nothing of it but boy were they right
One thing I will say about chase is if love to see him at 255 instead of 270 I think that would give him alot more juice like in college and I think he’s got the body to where like something like a Khalil Mack he can be 250 and strong as a bull
A big reason Steve Wilkes was let go is speculated to be the under performance of the D-Line this season as a whole. Secondary was great given their injuries but it seemed like the front line was never full insync.
You will never hear a coach say this, but there are times when it makes sense to "give up" on a play. If it is early in the game and you are far enough from the play that your "effort" is not going to make much of a difference, then it might be a good idea to "shut it down" and conserve energy for when you really need it. However, in Young's case it looks like he has made this a habit.
Ohio State fans first really noticed Chase Young giving up on plays late in the 3rd quarter in the 2019 playoff game against Clemson. Late in the game when Ohio State needed him the most, his stamina or some would say effort was underwhelming. Extremely talented, but if the talent isn't being utilized with effort it's worthless.
The war in the trenches is done anaerobically, which means you hold your breath throughout the majority of the confrontation. So you choose your battles. Some can choose more often due to having high tolerance to anaerobics. Add that to being on the defensive side of the ball where the offensive line is holding throughout the battle and I can see why he chooses when to fight his battles. Lastly I am curious to what his PFF scores say. His job on some of these lower effort plays may be to just contain.. Now you add all this up and ask, does it mean we pay him less than a Nick Bosa? Well, hell yes. Don't overpay for average. Edit: after reading the comment section, I feel your title is incorrect. There are plenty of people wanting to admit this about Chase Young.

It was insinuated that SF was only one of two teams that expressed interest. Says a lot.
I remember when the Dolphins traded Jarvis Landry to the Browns for a 5th or 6th. I was fuming. He was our best WR, Multiple 1200 plus yard seasons, even a 1500 and I think all pro and we get scraps. I feel ya.@@user93279

He’s not as expensive as he once was because of his knee injury.. give it some time..

So glad Washington got rid of him, was glad we drafted him at the time but like most prospects, you draft them off of physical attributes and potential but you just can’t know what’s in their head until it’s too late
Well he DID help them get to the SB
He was 100% worth that draft pick until he got injured. Defensive rookie of the year and looked like he was going to be great for us for a long time but just never was the same after his injury. Unfortunately was like RG3.. RG3 was another that was a great pick if he would’ve never had that injury
Just sucks they got rid of Sweat...
Was just wondering if you can tell me What "freelancing" means??

Hei-ni-cke!!!!
He clearly does have talent, he just isnt using it majority of the plays cause he doesnt put in effort
WTF are you talking about
@@analyticalinsightReally?
This channel understands the assignment
A very good and straight foreward analysis.......
Im not sure he analyzed anything. Or "very good" anyways. For that you would need to at least discuss what the players job was each play.

More worried about his hair than a ring 😂😂😂
Realllly good video man. This was very easy to watch and comprehend... Nick Bosa is in a league of his own...
Yeah that’s why KC ran their critical 4th down play at Bosa! They KNEW Bosa would bite on that fake handoff and take himself out of the play!😊
Players do get tired and in-game injuries that don't get reported.
Agreed. He must have been hurt since Ohio State. And it's a weird injury too. It comes and goes randomly during a game.

If he does stay in SF another season I hope he buys in to the team mentality of giving the most effort, I think a full of season and full season will change his mentality, he’s young hopefully he matures.
I'm a Commanders fan and I can attest to this, I was glad to see him go.
Good stuff! Always love to learn the game within the game that is OLine vs DLine.

You could "call" holding on every play in the NFL. It isn't actually holding unless the officiating crew calls it holding. Unless the defensive player is holding on with their arms outside the framework of their body then they aren't calling it.
As an Ohio state fan I still can’t believe that the 9ers really have Nick Bosa AND Chase Young. Nightmare fuel for QBs and O Tackles.
Great breakdown
I didn’t see the lack of effort as a major issue
Maybe his conditioning is not the best so he’s trying to save himself for the big plays or the ones he starts to win. He definitely looks like he gives up too early and doesn’t understand that even though the play may not be in front of him, if he keeps grinding there’s a good chance he can still make a contribution.
As a Wash fan it hurt to let him go since he was a top 3 puck but he was really not making any impact after rookie season. Maybe the knee injury hurt him. I hope we get some good compensation for him 🙏🏼

So you are saying the reason is they like to have less talented players in the positions???
Pausing at 8:35 to comment: I was never overly impressed while he was at Wash. He has fast twitch dominance until he gets gassed (early-on.)
The play against Philadelphia where he lays on the ground and Hurts completes a the pass after hanging out on the sideline
Damn chase was chilling on that first clip!
Chase does not care at all if his team wins. He got paid and that's all that matters to him.
I found this hard to follow because I couldn't tell where Chase Young was
What!!! You shouldn't have said anything...Thats like going into a gym asking for 10lb weights😂
@@ericdarden1255shhh relax
Do you not know how to watch film? It's easy to identify him when the narrator points him out before every play. But I'll help you, jabroni. When the play is running to the right he's at the bottom of the screen. When Left he's at the top
@@ericdarden1255He’s trolling bro 😭😭
It's a useful video in that it's a combination football discussion and IQ test. You got a 95.
Imo the backlash while he was injured changed his approach. He looked like the next great that rookie year
Props to observation and film-breakdown; @7:50, as you put it, he has a tendency to "stand straight up", correct, Chase has a tendency to play with a high-center of gravity, and again @9:10, "accepts" a beat after the snap.
Interesting video, well done.
I’ve been say it for quite a while now, back when he was with Washington…it appears that if he doesn’t get the results he’s looking for at the initial point of the play, he’ll gear down his effort significantly!
nice breakdown
Yeah, he seems to get worn out. As a Washington fan, I've seen this a lot. Starts games out fantastic, then completely falls off towards the second half. You can't do this when you are touted at one point a generational talent #2 pick. We always compared him to Jadeveon Clowney, but he seems to be lesser than Clowney considering the 2023 Clowney had.
I said this when we traded him, he rushes forward and makes no moves. He will get a sack but other than that he is a non factor
there is something to be said for concerving some extra effort and energy for the big money dowms and reps. when your team absolutely needs you to make a play.
That effort is unacceptable the Niners play him in a rotation he should go 100% every single play
He was trash in DC. Benched it for his entire career. Looks big, acts big, but fails to deliver. One of those guys that capped out in college
HOW DID YOU WATCH THAT CLIP WITH JAMYR GIBBS AND ONLY SEE CHASE YOUNG..NONE OF THE 49ERS SEEMED LIKE THEY WAS TRYING TO TACKLE HIM...
Said it for years. He took plays off in Washington. He took plays off in San Fran.
Thats not a coaching problem, thats a player problem.
It's what Chase does. I was glad to see him traded.
