This is why local journalism needs to be supported. Great work! The commission needs to be federally investigated for potential corruption. They clearly ignored genuine concerns, consistently, and continue to hide behind a shroud of secrecy that they seem to imagine they are owed. No one in any position of public trust, especially those enforcing the law, is entitled to secrecy in their actions. Now I want to point this out. Judge Mark Ciavarella was getting kickbacks to send children to children's prison. Judge Thomas J. Maloney took bribes to rig murder cases. Judge Michael Cicconetti frequently gave out rulings that defy one's 8th amendment right prohibiting cruel and unusual punishment, often in ways that could be dangerous. Judge Otis made fun of people that murdered their child by locking them in a footlocker until he died and gave the son of a victim of a felony a bubble gun and a cupcake. This a good hill to die on?

Of course the review board found no wrong doing... if they had, they might have had to review all the cases this woman presided over, especially the ones where she talked with defendants without their attorneys present. I had a case in Maricopa County a few years ago. I had a corrupt judge who was trying to get me convicted as opposed to making sure I got a fair trial. He violated the law several times. Luckily, I had a good Attorney and finally they left me alone. Nothing worse than corrupt judges. Judges are to be arbiters of the truth, not prosecutors.

Police do not investigate the courts, that is up to the Superior Court Judge to order an investigation which would be conducted by the Department of Public Safety under court order!!! Those that investigate are immune from the judge being investigated and can not be ordered to stop or crate findings in favor of the judge!
Frustrating to see the total lack of respect to law as she sits in the judges chair. Everyone who was found guilty by her should now be considered as having a mistrial. She shows clear prejudice.
Subscribed - will all notifications on. I want to see this whole investigation. Just showed my wife. We’re going to show it to her mom tomorrow. Her mom is a paralegal and is in to true crime. I *know* she’ll find this investigation really interesting as she’s dealt with this type of stuff in the past. She told me a bunch of stories of judges doing similar stuff to this. Worse, in her stories the public defenders were in on it to. Which she said is a huge no no because they shouldn’t be so chummy with the court when they’re defending their clients. I did security for Walmart for 13 years and I’ve been a part of over 200 court cases during that time. Because we prosecuted thieves. I got to become really close with a lot of the regular public defenders, the lawyers defending the client that I am currently charging on the half of Walmart. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve talked with them before a case started and they would joke about how guilty their client is and tell me about what their defense strategy is going to be a.k.a. how they were going to plead guilty and what sentences they were going to ask the judge for and so on. Which I always knew was wrong but I’m just a Walmart associate what was I supposed to do? I always think to myself how terrible it would be if I was ever charged with theft. Especially if I was innocent. Because the defense attorneys usually always support the court and especially people like me, security guards for retail stores This type of unprofessional behavior is rampant in US court rooms. It’s everywhere. And it’s been like that for at least the 13 years I’ve been a part of it across Maryland from Frederick Maryland to Baltimore Maryland court houses
Her actions and those of her staff are tame compared to what a lot of these judges are out here doing all over the country. There needs to be a way to at the least suspend these judges until a fair hearing is set forth to address misconduct allegations and the most remove these bozos all together.....

It takes an insider to bring awareness to these corrupt courts! I tried to file complaints about unfair treatment and partiality in Cochise and Maricopa counties, in the state of Arizona, many times between 2015-2019. But, I was just a defendant in one instance and the spouse of a whistleblower, in another. The only result I got was a transfer of the deputy clerk (Benson Arizona) to another location, within the same county. After having to go through many legal procedures in the state of Arizona, we came to realize just how corrupt the judicial system is there. Sadly, in spite of all the environmental beauty of that state, the way it’s governed, caused us to leave and we will never go back.
My original point is based more on personal experience within Arizona’s state court system. I could give a crazy personal account, but, I don’t care that much… anymore.

I understand and agree with 99% of this, but the birthday party for the 3 year old whose dad was going away really doesn’t seem like that’s a huge deal. I've been watching a lot of vids on law enforcement corruption. From judges to cops in the field and I can tell you from everything I've seen, AZ is the worst of the worst when it comes to corruption. Not a chance in hell I'd live in there. Hell, I'd even be afraid to drive-thru there for fear of civil forfeiture that runs ramped in that state.

Her letting that kid have 1 last bday party with his dad, was very compassionate. His son is also a victim of his crimes. He now grows up without a father. How can people see this judge letting an innocent child to have a bday party with his father one last time, was great.

Of course the review board found no wrong doing... if they had, they might have had to review all the cases this woman presided over, especially the ones where she talked with defendants without their attorneys present.
I’m surprised the State allows her to work for their office as a prosecutor with this type of bad publicity... Shame on them!

I feel completely bad for that 3 year old. Every child's birthday should be a happy one. I think it might be possible that he was just being used as a "prop" to tug at the court's heart during the sentencing. Pity his father didn't think about all the ramifications when he committed his crimes.

I had a case in Maricopa County a few years ago. I had a corrupt judge who was trying to get me convicted as opposed to making sure I got a fair trial. He violated the law several times. Luckily, I had a good Attorney and finally they left me alone. Nothing worse than corrupt judges. Judges are to be arbiters of the truth, not prosecutors.

Yeah, that wasn't a birthday party. Singing a song a giving a baby a toy and a donut is not a birthday party. That is compassion for an innocent child who is about to lose his or her father for a while. Doesn't matter what the dad did. The kid is innocent.
The other stuff the judge did was wrong and it was right to remove her. But I hate the way the media is sensationalizing parts of this story.

Police do not investigate the courts, that is up to the Superior Court Judge to order an investigation which would be conducted by the Department of Public Safety under court order!!! Those that investigate are immune from the judge being investigated and can not be ordered to stop or crate findings in favor of the judge!
Frustrating to see the total lack of respect to law as she sits in the judges chair. Everyone who was found guilty by her should now be considered as having a mistrial. She shows clear prejudice.

Subscribed - will all notifications on. I want to see this whole investigation. Just showed my wife. We’re going to show it to her mom tomorrow. Her mom is a paralegal and is in to true crime. I *know* she’ll find this investigation really interesting as she’s dealt with this type of stuff in the past. She told me a bunch of stories of judges doing similar stuff to this. Worse, in her stories the public defenders were in on it to. Which she said is a huge no no because they shouldn’t be so chummy with the court when they’re defending their clients.
I did security for Walmart for 13 years and I’ve been a part of over 200 court cases during that time. Because we prosecuted thieves. I got to become really close with a lot of the regular public defenders, the lawyers defending the client that I am currently charging on the half of Walmart. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve talked with them before a case started and they would joke about how guilty their client is and tell me about what their defense strategy is going to be a.k.a. how they were going to plead guilty and what sentences they were going to ask the judge for and so on. Which I always knew was wrong but I’m just a Walmart associate what was I supposed to do?
I always think to myself how terrible it would be if I was ever charged with theft. Especially if I was innocent. Because the defense attorneys usually always support the court and especially people like me, security guards for retail stores
This type of unprofessional behavior is rampant in US court rooms. It’s everywhere. And it’s been like that for at least the 13 years I’ve been a part of it across Maryland from Frederick Maryland to Baltimore Maryland court houses

Her actions and those of her staff are tame compared to what a lot of these judges are out here doing all over the country. There needs to be a way to at the least suspend these judges until a fair hearing is set forth to address misconduct allegations and the most remove these bozos all together.....

It takes an insider to bring awareness to these corrupt courts! I tried to file complaints about unfair treatment and partiality in Cochise and Maricopa counties, in the state of Arizona, many times between 2015-2019. But, I was just a defendant in one instance and the spouse of a whistleblower, in another. The only result I got was a transfer of the deputy clerk (Benson Arizona) to another location, within the same county. After having to go through many legal procedures in the state of Arizona, we came to realize just how corrupt the judicial system is there. Sadly, in spite of all the environmental beauty of that state, the way it’s governed, caused us to leave and we will never go back.

I understand and agree with 99% of this, but the birthday party for the 3 year old whose dad was going away really doesn’t seem like that’s a huge deal. If anything I think it demonstrates a bit of humanity from a judge, also seems like a rehabilitation motivator, remind that guy he has something to come home to, so. He needs to behave in prison.

I've been watching a lot of vids on law enforcement corruption. From judges to cops in the field and I can tell you from everything I've seen, AZ is the worst of the worst when it comes to corruption. Not a chance in hell I'd live in there. Hell, I'd even be afraid to drive-thru there for fear of civil forfeiture that runs ramped in that state.
You are getting the wrong information from somewhere. Arizona is a safe place to live and work. I have lived in Arizona almost all of my life and worked for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office for 20 years, but then again, you seem to have an automatic bad opinion of all law enforcement officers. You listen to videos which tell lies and you believe it to be the truth!!!

Honestly the birthday party for the kid isn't the same as them having their own little burn book filled with jurors, defendants, and other courtroom personnel. They shouldn't conflate the 2 because most people are going to see her letting the toddler celebrate his birthday with his parents as a kind thing, whether it's against the rules or not. The focus should be more on the other things.
