-Hello
-Do you know any way that we could cheer Hammond up?
-I don't know... Genesis brings to mind
-I was thinking the same thing...
That was hilarious when they did that to Hamster
B.S.
"HAHAHAHA!!! I HATE THAT BIT!!!!"
That was always classic. They need to carry that over to the grand tour too
It’s amazing how Top Gear essentially introduced this song and genesis to an entire new generation.
Gorgeous bass line.
Amazing!
🎸🔥
Peter and Phil singing together! Really nice!
they have amazing vocal harmonies. it sounds like magic.
Makes perfect sense for Phil to have become the full time lead singer - storyteller/drummer.
Kind of reminds me of Paul & John.
like James Paul and Lennon, only these two chaps are better. they sound like each other's echo.
I wanna wish a Happy 73rd Birthday 🎂 Today to Genesis Bass Guitar Mike Rutherford!!!!

In honour of the final episode of The Grand Tour and the final time we will see the adventures of Clarkson, Hammond and May, I play this song. We will never forget how much these 3 men have shaped our lives. Thank you for all the memories (this song included).
I'm a 23 year old American, and thanks to Top Gear for introducing me, I've been a Genesis fan for some years now 😂
If you listen to it while driving a car Jeremy hates on the Nürburgring, you can summon the Stig

I really hope Jezza and May have this as the theme tune for The Speed of Birds.

What about the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow? 😂😂😂
Why is nobody talking about how great the drums are on this? Phil really was creative in the early days.

Those four albums Genesis produced in the early 70s from Nursery Cryme through to The Lamb are not just albums they're works of art. Utterly timeless.

Back in the mid seventies we were some teens going to religious school. Our Pastor often played tracks from "Selling England" when we arrived in class. When I heard "I Know What I Like" for the first time, I was mesmerized. The whole album was (and is) amazingly good! Thank you very much indeed, Pastor E., for bringing Genesis into my life! Apart from that, I know, you've been schooling a failure: me. But that's another story.
❤
You’re not a failure, mate.

My first concert was David Bowie. The second was Genenis w/Peter Gabrial, an incredable front man; what a show. For me there was only Genesis w/Peter Gabrial! He was & is spectacular. "I know what I like & I like what I know". Music is a lifeline for me. All types of sounds!!!
It’s spelled “Gabriel”
Genesis was better off without Gabriel.
@@user-sh3ob2sm3y, they had two things without Peter, the ability to attract money and females. But I love all the Genesis up through Duke, a record that gets under-rated. They sold out stadiums and made their bank on the Duke tour, which they deserved, and it was nice to see hot chicks at the party. Phil and Peter are two classic prog voices. Years later you could say one vocalist went too earnest and guru-like and the other maybe too poppy, but both were are gifted with melody writing and exploring what they wanted to explore, musically. I love them both =
@@TheCactusjack1 You said exactly how I feel, too. Duke's End especially is a brilliant piece of music and very much like the original Genesis sound.
Thanks God that created for us the Genesis ...
Rutherford is the most underrated bassist of all time. No question.
What does that even mean. He was in fucking Genesis so where does the underrated part come in?
Bravo, Genesis! This Song belong to my life! I love you! 👏🎼🎶🎸🎹🥁🎙️❤️✨
Many say Genesis only went "popular" after Gabriel left, but this song shows they had pop leanings well before that.
Collins went commercial
@@edcunningham202 Well that's exactly the type of comment I'm trying to point out is misguided. Genesis were going commercial even while Gabriel was with them, as this track shows.
I know what i like, Time table, More fool me, carpet crawlers... Genesis always has "pop" songs in the Gabriel era
And many more like "Twilight Allehouse", "Happy the Man"
Gabriel had his first singles success before Genesis though. And he completely stopped doing prog rock after leaving Genesis.
They need to play this at Richard Hammond's funeral.
Clarkson has it on his playlist for the express purpose of annoying Hammond from beyond the grave I’m calling it
