I’m currently, slowly, making a pair of stays (1700s precursor to corset). I’ve worn my mock-up around several times and while the waist is a little high and the boning also will poke my armpits (because I did not fully bind it down as a mock up) it is comfortable as long as I keep proper posture. I only am uncomfortable when sitting on modern couches, car seats, or modern desk chairs- all promote you leaning back and have too much padding. However for standing/kneeling/cleaning/crafting or sitting in antique wooden chairs with either caned seats or a minor padding the stays are comfortable enough. No help for pants and corset, I wear skirts. I wish you luck in finding a balance there.

You’ve really got to pay attention to your posture when sitting on modern squishy furniture. I’ve thought about wearing skirts more, for many reasons but this is one of them.
One thing I want to figure out for a stealth corset is the upper back. Like, I don't want a giant muffin top there, but I also don't want a visible high stiff back edge. I've considered combining an underbust Edwardian one with a regular bra, because I want the bust shape from a bra (big tiddy club here). I'll eventually find a solution, but for now... I remain confused.
Same! Having a muffin top or visible high back or front was a big worry of mine! I honestly got lucky with this one and it turned out perfect, I don’t know how. But I’m making another corset right now and that is a huge worry! I feel like there’s no real way to know if it’s right until it’s done, but maybe that’s just because I need to get better at making corsets.
I think that’s a good idea. I’ve actually been considering doing an overhaul of my wardrobe bottoms for a while now. I’ve been clinging to skinny jeans since high school and I think it’s time for a change.
