I hope so. There's a standing message to this song too. In such times, trust yourselves but don't trust what leaders or talkmasters ("important" people) are telling you through the TV screen. For example, you may like, or may not like, Pope Francis. That is up to you. But he has nothing to offer you, like him or not. You are on your own. Sorry if this sounds personal a bit but are you old enough to have seen them in concert in their halcyon days in the early 80s? If not how about older cousins?
Just here to say that I really love the sound of Andy Summers guitar in this song. The muted notes with that chorus or whatever he's using sounds like heaven.
@BobCob-ug3el - It definitely _wasn't_ this Hamer guitar on the actual recording, as he was given it only a few days before this video shoot, and Sting this 8-string Hamer bass, too. In Stewart's movie, there's a scene of Andy and Sting working out these guitar parts together, with both on Strats - This does sound more like his Telecaster, though 🙂
As a guitar player, I have always been fascinated by the wild experimentation with many different effects that Andy Summers used to do in order to get that post punk sound that characterised The Police's music. He would create a very layered sound that would end up on recordings. I know chorus and delay especially were mainstay effects in his rig although he would also incorporate an Echoplex and later invest in a Pete Cornish Board (The guitarists, Glenn Tipton and K.K.
