I lived this song in the late 80s, I was love struck over my mom's hairdresser... fresh out of the Marines I would get a haircut every week weather I needed it or not. Finally worked up the courage to ask her out, she said not right now , but ask me again some time. My buddy knew about it, and he laughed at me.yeah, a good friend. I kept getting haircuts, and about a month later my friend Dianne , her coworker told me she had broke up with her guy... So I asked again. We dated three months, I proposed. We were married 3 months later. We're still married 33 years later.

I have to thank my grandmother, who sadly passed away in 2011, that made me listen to all of the songs of bands and singers that she used to enjoy. Especially, she got me growing to 6 years old with Abba and The Police. I think I wouldn't need to say that this band is important to me as the other bands I listen to, but The Police have something that always takes me, makes me get a mind trip and then the magic rests in the air

Scorpion's Is There Anybody There is indeed reggae rock as well, released in 1979. I am curious if they have other similar songs? I wonder if that particular Scorpions' song was influenced by The Police, as have many musicians and bands since then (just check out Ride by Twenty One Pilots, Rude by Magic! and Locked Out of Heaven by Bruno Mars)
+Jweeping Er The reggae sound was big in the UK before 1980. Many bands had two tone, ska and reggae influenced sounds prior to the Police. The Scorpions were riding a huge wave of reggae , not necessarily copying the Police.

Fun Fact: This music video was filmed at a recording studio at the time known as AIR on the island of Montserrat, before a hurricane destroyed the studio, which also was the place that recorded, Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Duran Duran ect. Today it sits in ruins....
I was born in Montserrat! sadly the volcano destroyed half of the island, but the north side remains and is where most people live. Still a great and peaceful place to be.
The 80s were only matched, IMO, by the music of the 60s. Think Woodstock, though the Beatles and the Stones weren't there. Still, I'd put The Who's performance there as the best live show for the ages.
the part where they hit around 2:49 is when the party starts and you just really want the song to go on forever. just music, dancing, smiling, good times. everything that's right about the world is in that section.
My husband played this song for me on a jukebox when we were playing pool 🎱 on our very first date, and 3 weeks later we were married! That was 24 years ago this September up in Lake Tahoe, California, and now we're retired and living in Belize! It's been quite the journey! 💜💜💜
I loved this song when I first heard it back in the 80s. It's still - hands down - my very favorite song ever. Pure love. Pure magic. Thank you Andy, Stewart and Sting.
40 yrs later, I can sit back to fully understand, appreciate and emote on why this is my #1 fav song. I probably always assumed that I was "she" since music is the one thing that keeps me six feet above ground. Especially seeing little black boys and girls dancing and having fun in the video....watching the band dancing and goofing off towards the end - all my favorite things rolled up into one. Pure joyous music that always makes me smile to hear it. Indeed, it's magic.
I never stopped listening. Decades. This is actually Sting's demo and the guys playing over it. Sting is incredible. Stewart sound incredible. Sting wasn't able to capture the magic like the demo. So he just went with the demo. It's magic.
Stewart and Andy’s faces as they dance uninhibited with the Monserrat locals in the gorgeous light of the Caribbean sunset... has to be one of my all time favourite music video moments ever. 🙌🏾
I like the Music of Goo Goo and dadada in the Alps d skiing down the slopes together it The police are so interesting and fun to watch while making music 🤍🤍🤍
... and it sounds so simplistic, yet there is SO MUCH going on within the structure. when you see him do this live it's jaw-dropping. Everything structured and thought out.
The contrast between the mysterious, minor 7 chord with shifting bass notes and the major chords that are the basis of the chorus, are always fascinating and pull the listener in. In a similar way to Mahler and the polarized emotional experience that he communicated, the song portrays the highs and lows of love. The steel drums playing in the ecstatic chorus were quite original in commercial pop music, when the song was written. The guitar, unusually takes a back-seat but the rhythmic, chugging chords and arpeggios later on are very attractive. The drumming in the chorus really emphasizes the ecstatic feel of the song and the addition of synth and piano expanded the usual timbres they deployed. A seminal song from the 1980's.
This song never fails at making my heart do quick jumps and a backflip kick whenever I hear it. Such a happy little song. Classic Police! Great ambiance - Feel good vibes
Only Sting can take a song about what could be a depressing theme -unrequited love- and make it the most uplifting, positive, hopeful song ever written. Written for the hopeful romantics of the world.
Solid take. Here’s something your comment made me consider. Pearl Jam’s “I Got ID” is probably the “best” dark and existential telling of this same song.
A real work of art armonically... On the side: That drum fill in 2:56.... Exquisite. And the 6 crash cymbals crossed and bass drum accents beginning in 3:07. Marvelous!!!!
The Police made the 80 for me while they other kids were into Pop like Madonna. Not me. Band's frontman Sting brought in Jean Roussel to record the piano parts on the demo of "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic". However, the group could not better it with the equipment available at AIR Studios; they ended up using the demo as the backing track for the official recording, with drummer Stewart Copeland and guitarist Andy Summers dubbing their parts on. Sting also played all the saxophone parts on the album. Love it when on the boat day or night. How The Police didn't stay more in the Caribbean is beyond me.
The way they were clowning around in the studio told you that they struck gold with this one!!!! Love their catalog but this one holds a special place in my heart❤❤❤❤❤
I often wonder if the kids today listen to this song, and hear it the same way I heard songs from the 30's? Man I hope not. This is just a timeless, gorgeous song...but still...you have to wonder.

I guess it wasn't so bad then when Andy jumped up on the mixing board. I figured the engineers would be pissed, but it all turned out the same.....
It's actually a British Overseas Territory, although it was held by the French for one year during the Revolutionary War.
I was born in Montserrat! sadly the volcano destroyed half of the island, but the north side remains and is where most people live. Still a great and peaceful place to be.
One of the greatest songs ever written
~ My favorite of all. (*_~)
I concur, the intro is just incredible
+Sully Cortez Great song but far from the greatest. I don't think its the best song they have written either.
36 years later and it's still sounds great!!!!!
Jose Hernandez Perfection Jose
50 100 still will be a great song and even though it will be forgotten it’ll always have been
43 years later…still great!
Never gets old
This one of those songs that made the 80’s the greatest decade ever!
The 80s were only matched, IMO, by the music of the 60s. Think Woodstock, though the Beatles and the Stones weren't there. Still, I'd put The Who's performance there as the best live show for the ages.
The first ten seconds of this song are without equal
I agree! Love it
So do I. The climbing instrumental intro is the absolute best ❤️
the part where they hit around 2:49 is when the party starts and you just really want the song to go on forever. just music, dancing, smiling, good times. everything that's right about the world is in that section.
Best song EVER!
Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic: When you fall in love with a girl
Every Breath You Take: When you found out she already has a boyfriend
Ye Olde Krabs Murder By Numbers: When you can’t take no for an answer
Darkness: when you so depressed you can’t even get up
Ye Olde Krabs Can’t stand losing you: when she leaves you
The story of my life 🤣🤣🤣
🤣
Every Little Thing They Do Is Magic
My husband played this song for me on a jukebox when we were playing pool 🎱 on our very first date, and 3 weeks later we were married! That was 24 years ago this September up in Lake Tahoe, California, and now we're retired and living in Belize! It's been quite the journey! 💜💜💜
That's all very nice - but it's a bit unwise to state your year of birth in your thumbnail, don't you think...?
Absolutely Beautiful😘 Many Blessings to you both
I used to ski near Lake Tahoe. It’s beautiful there.
How do you like Belize?
Really what part of Belize my family is from Dangria and Stan Creek Benguche Way is named after my family
Beauty in simplicity 🙏👍😀!!!!
1981: I love this song
2021: '80s was so magical ✨🎇🎆✨✨
Right 👍
my dad and I used to listen to this every day when he was driving me to school. I want that back
Me too!!
can you tell me what it slike to have a dad
Dad sounds like a cool dude.
jean roussel's piano on this song, absolutely makes this song over the top incredible, as opposed to just regular incredible
I loved this song when I first heard it back in the 80s. It's still - hands down - my very favorite song ever. Pure love. Pure magic. Thank you Andy, Stewart and Sting.
They're pretty good, I don't know why people want to defund them...
heh nice one :)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣i needed that!
Rindo pra caralho!!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Apparently they're racist? I dunno
(It's a joke don't be triggered)
It's magic.
the 80s was the most magical decade ever
Agreed especially being born in 1980. Theres no mystery in the world now.
I totally agree, 80s were magical. I have fond memories of a fun childhood
+Dablkwid0w2008 Yup, the last era before the internet!
+Dablkwid0w2008 i never lived the 80's but i strongly agree
yeah if you were dead during the sixties
Still a masterpiece..timeless
I miss the 80´s. This song almost make cry. Young again, just for 3 minutes
and to have that energy to dance as they are.. I'm with ya,,
Mee Too..!!
Big hug bro !!! Peace love and well wishes.
You can be of old age and still have the heart of the young that's all that matters
I wish I was alive in the 80s....
Stewart and Andy’s faces as they dance uninhibited with the Monserrat locals in the gorgeous light of the Caribbean sunset... has to be one of my all time favourite music video moments ever. 🙌🏾
Absolutely!
I like the Music of Goo Goo and dadada in the Alps d skiing down the slopes together it The police are so interesting and fun to watch while making music 🤍🤍🤍
Same here! So joyful...
2:23 probably the most beautifully intricate part of the song...even though all of it is pure fantastic.
Is this what love sounds like in our hearts?
An absolute masterpiece!
2.50....Stewart Copeland`s drum is the best drum touch ever played...pure magic. This is one of the songs in my life
Luis Manuel Martin Villalba Agreed. A fabulous drummer!!
That is my favourite bit too. 😊
The drumming is so crisp. Sharp.
... and it sounds so simplistic, yet there is SO MUCH going on within the structure. when you see him do this live it's jaw-dropping. Everything structured and thought out.
The Copland Snare was and still is a sound to behold. 02:57 most replayed moment. The fill that kills.
I kinda do air drumming during that almost every time, even if I’m at the wheel. So awesome it is
@@icemax7nobody makes me air drum like Copeland
A seminal song from the 1980's.
it doesn't get much better than this, three great musicians having fun and playing off one another. doing what they love
Total joy!
Actually they didn't like each other 😂😂
Four, dont forget keyboard player
@@RavensSoTiredThey did
This song never fails at making my heart do quick jumps and a backflip kick whenever I hear it. Such a happy little song. Classic Police! Great ambiance - Feel good vibes
The song is actually darker than what the chorus is implying.
Completely agree. What a beautiful and almost euphoric song. I love it!
Indeed! ❤
Ah the '80s, back when good music was everywhere...
The 1980's; when music soothe the soul and bitches knew their place in the world.
@@rosalindlewis3523 lol ikr
@@rosalindlewis3523 FULLY KNOWN!!!!!!!!!
@@rosalindlewis3523 nah they used to work in cocktail bars but didn't need men
Yes and today's libtards killed it. You can thank them. 👍
2:52 Eyo-oh, Eyo-oh
Best part.
dude yes
best part
+Rusty Shackleford **slowly leans mouth towards your ear, and whispers** "eyo-oh....... eyo-oh
+happynapkins Don't stand. Don't stand so close to me.
Rusty Shackleford Every step you take, every move you make, i'll be watching you >:)
This song is MAGIC
True
Ayy I see what you did there
kill me
this song is the worst of all the songs i ve ever heard
screw you too
A real work of art armonically... On the side: That drum fill in 2:56.... Exquisite. And the 6 crash cymbals crossed and bass drum accents beginning in 3:07. Marvelous!!!!
Probably my favorite song of this band.
0:01 the beginning is so pretty. I would always hear this song as a child over 20 years ago and I never forgot it .
Haw
Vários comentários de nações diferentes amam essa música. Deve ser igual O nosso engenheiros do Hawaii
They sound so original even after more than three decades !
4 decades 😮
Why are people rioting these guys aren't that bad
Great comment
not necessarily socially correct but still a very funny comment
bec there stupid
Touche.
@@azophi Who cares if it's socially correct or not...it was hilarious!!!
Their #3 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 from late 1981
The way they were clowning around in the studio told you that they struck gold with this one!!!! Love their catalog but this one holds a special place in my heart❤❤❤❤❤
❤😂😢😮😅
Stewart's drumming soooooo epic
One of THE BEST songs ever...people will still love it in 2120.
Oh yes
One of the best songs ever. I wonder why people don't write music like this anymore
Totally agree!
I often wonder if the kids today listen to this song, and hear it the same way I heard songs from the 30's? Man I hope not. This is just a timeless, gorgeous song...but still...you have to wonder.
@@alancollinge9136 I’m 17 and I am absolutely obsessed with the police and so is my girlfriend don’t worry people of all generations can appreciate good music!
The 70s and 80s were the best era for music
