Ever since the Unleashed released it was hard to find a review of the original but I shoulda guessed prime92 had me covered as usual. Its a real shame that this one has been forgotten especially since I think the unleashed is not a valid replacement, but rather a newer rendition of an old kit that still holds its own, it has a much more charming design and the details are a lot more faithful to the original concept of the RX-78-2, also the LED seems to be better on this kit than the new one. Obviously the new one has ridiculous articulation and detail but the charm and build quality the old one provides are also important aspects, and really its down to preference when it comes to the right choice so its unfortunate to see this one becoming increasingly elusive and so overshadowed by its much newer relative
that red piece on the waist, in the show, it opened up to release coolant when the gundam did an atmosphere entry.. So they decided to add that feature in the 1/60 scale..
There is no issue with his voice? He speaks clear, concise, & knowledgeable. Be it a condition, for privacy, or whatever... Why not enjoy his great videos for who he is & the content he provides. I’m thankful for his courage not to use a BOT-Voice..Thanks you ‘Prime2’.
The red piece on the waist section moves inward for atmospheric entry. It dispenses a coolant onto the shield which deflects all the coolant around the Gundam. Great review!
@Wumblew you have to buy the expansion kits, there are two. they come with clear parts for the armor and also has the hyper Bazooka, i believe the mace, another beam rifle, and the gundam hammer.
i think that the red piece on the waist goes in because there it's that kind of pellicle that Amuro used when he was coming on the Earth, and that pellicle saves him by being destroyed by the atmosphere's friction
the red piece with the waist is at the first few episodes, Amuro was gonna land into the Earth's atmosphere, but knew he would burn instantly (as what had happened to the zaku before)so he grabs this plastic bag thing through that waist piece and places it over the gundam, and that helped him to survive the atmospheres heat.
8:02 - 8:08 That's what she said. xD Seriously though, between this and the only other PG I have (the Zeta), I much prefer this. Only issue I had was with the shoulder piston assembly around the arm. It's really weak & they pop out when I try to move the arm, and the arm tends to sag because of it. Also those panels on the arms & legs pop off easily for me too. And the LED you get for the eyes is green, when it's supposed to be yellow. But other than that, perfect kit! :)
The audio sounds like you recorded it using the speaker part of a headset instead of the mic. (yes this is possible) Did you compress it way too much? or is the mic just really bad?
@stryderprime pg meant that they are 1/60, if they were to make it bigger, they'd have to have a new scale. and judging by the RG release this year, I'd say we won't see a new scale soon
If you ever watched the original Gundam show (MSG 0079), you'd know why the red crotch piece goes in. It's for atmospheric re-entry. :D Great review, btw. I get this bad boy in two days.
That's a big fighter for its scale. I wonder if bandai may make this kit in 1/48 or 1/35 scale. This would look very good in 1/35 to match with the hard corp models thats in that scale. I didn't this kit had light up LED eyes. everything else look amazing for this kit. Remember this was bandai first PG kit so they went all out. 5 Stars!
Review a little rushed Prime? Maybe I'm being a little picky, but I had trouble seeing the detail in this review. From what I /could/ see though, this kit looks amazing. Keep up the good work. :D
this old perfect grade is very good in overall except on its body proportion coz i found that its fingers are quite long and its feet are quite big. i think MG gundam ver 1.5 and ver one year war's designs were actually based on this kit coz they have lots of similarities especially on the head, torso, waist, and leg.
ok so thanks 2 prime92 i am now thinkin of gettin bak into gunpla...i have a question tho where is the best place to purchase online cuz unfortunately my city doesnt have any...i want best selection, price and quickest standard shipping(im inpatient)
man i really want this kit and charr's zaku i have the 1/144 hguc gun cannon and gun tank i also have a mg zaku and gouf and early 1980's kit of Z'Gok and Zogok just need to be painted
it would be cool if they made a wing gundam Ver.ka PG because it is like 80 percent the same of wing zero and the they could make a wing zero PG Ver.2.0
so this is what youv been doing the last week or so i forgot about this. are you gonna panle line it i think you at leat need to panle line the colar the red peas gois in because when amuro got 2 low in space fighting a zaku a sheet went over him and cold air came out if the croch to keep him cool so he can re entre earths atmodfhere without going in a ship
Wow. For some reason, I thought that 1/60 scales didn't have very much articulation, like non-bending knees and elbows. Looks like I was completely wrong. I'm definitely gonna need a few 1/60 PGs of some of my favorite Gundams when I get much more experience.
not trashing your reviews or anything, i think you do good reviews, but that voice changer really does annoy the hell out of me.

If i remember correctly, the red panel on the crotch opens up because that's where the thermic sheet for atmospheric re-entry is stored.
That looks so much better than the 'Ohh its so big its awesome' 1/48 scale oversize HG.
probably one of the coolest kits I have ever seen!

Great review!
with that leg detail it makes me wish the 08th ground gundam would get this treatment
the red thing on the crotch releases something to cool off the gundam while entering the earths athmosphere
to me it sounds like michael jackson doing a gundam kit review
@Wumblew you have to buy the expansion kits, there are two. they come with clear parts for the armor and also has the hyper Bazooka, i believe the mace, another beam rifle, and the gundam hammer.
Hey why don't you do a review wth your normal voice
IM GETTIN THIS FOR CHRISTMAS
i think that the red piece on the waist goes in because there it's that kind of pellicle that Amuro used when he was coming on the Earth, and that pellicle saves him by being destroyed by the atmosphere's friction
When you were doing the leg you said it's hard to make work not trashing the review though I love your review's 😀
the red crotch piece that can be pushed in was when Amuro used the Gundam for re-entry. that's where the heat film came from
the red piece with the waist is at the first few episodes, Amuro was gonna land into the Earth's atmosphere, but knew he would burn instantly (as what had happened to the zaku before)so he grabs this plastic bag thing through that waist piece and places it over the gundam, and that helped him to survive the atmospheres heat.

This kit rocks!
i love this pg
@KiraXStrikeFreedom Not much to really panel line. Most of the lines are from the panels that open up.
the crotch panel was in the anime when amuro pulled out the heat proof fabric.
I think the red piece on the waist opens up because of something related to the Gundam's re-entry process.
@stryderprime

Those beam sabers look exactly alike from those Gundam Chopsticks being sold in Gundam Cafe in Akihabara.
I am enjoying the intricacy of the kit.. But since it is the first (gundam perfect grade) I might find myself getting another sometime...
If you ever watched the original Gundam show (MSG 0079), you'd know why the red crotch piece goes in. It's for atmospheric re-entry. :D Great review, btw. I get this bad boy in two days.
@Prime92 but i noticed u didnt panel line a very important part, the lines of the mask
I think that actually looks fine even without doing panel lines. Not every model needs those to look good.
That's a big fighter for its scale. I wonder if bandai may make this kit in 1/48 or 1/35 scale. This would look very good in 1/35 to match with the hard corp models thats in that scale. Hey could anyone tell me which screws go where as... well My japanese is practically non existent
oh that red pannel on the crotch is the heat field for rentry i think.
i got a pg rx 78 2 gundam and lost 3 peaces and was wondering if you know any sights that sell spare parts
where can I buy parts for this because when I bought this it didn't come with parts to build the arm.
Well, I guess when I was first learning about what types of Gundam models existed, I was mislead by a little false information.
its the reatmosfitric entrey collet port
when can we expect the review of the tt hongli PG Gundam Mark II?
if i found this kit or any 1/60 PG kit at a store like walmart what would be the average price?(US dollar plz)
@unicron245 well you could just not put him in when you assemble it
What Volt batteries are they?
does it comes with the bazooka?
It's not waterslides its peel off stickers
Chris Vinson thats what i thought as well
this is the one where they based of the MG rx-78-2 ver. 2.0 right?
can u remove the amuro ray out f the cockpit? i dont have a gundam kit :(
how come you didnt panel line it?
its a bit disappointing that we have to take the landing gear off when turning it to coreblock...
man i really want this kit and charr's zaku i have the 1/144 hguc gun cannon and gun tank i also have a mg zaku and gouf and early 1980's kit of Z'Gok and Zogok just need to be painted
r u going to get the Perfect Grade RX-78-2 Gundam Custom Set
it seems that the MG gundam 2.0 got most of its traits from this guy, since the 2.0 has moving vents and such
I think you should really add a couple of panel lines because some of the parts look plain
where did you get all these models
it would be cool if they made a wing gundam Ver.ka PG because it is like 80 percent the same of wing zero and the they could make a wing zero PG Ver.2.0
@SonicMegamanFan They're called Perfect Grade for a reason xP
the first perfect grade was the evangelion unit 01 to celebrate the end of evangelion movie
i gotta get this kit and if i do i will display it flipping everyone off lolz
Perfect Grade Evangelion was the first Perfect Grade kit, not the RX-78-2 Gundam.
how much is that pg model??
wow looking at this, and comparing it to my ver. 2.0 mg
they really did a great job at recreating this in a smaller scale
I have this Gundam same thing is a blue box but I don't bulid is hard to bulid and to many pieces
It's a slight disappointment that this kit doesn't come with the Bazooka or Mace.
Having the Bazooka in its glorious PG 1/60 scale would be awesome.
theres already a 1/30 S Gundam :o
READ the description.
I find that the PG is somewhat similar to the MG ver 2.0
Actually, the first PG was Evangelion.
Anyone know why this person sounds like a Geonosian from star wars?
If you'd like I can PM you a list of good sites to buy these kits online
@Songy
ya, awkaward position though
so this is what youv been doing the last week or so i forgot about this.
are you gonna panle line it i think you at leat need to panle line the colar
the red peas gois in because when amuro got 2 low in space fighting a zaku a sheet went over him and cold air came out if the croch to keep him cool so he can re entre earths atmodfhere without going in a ship
is it just me, or does your voice kinda sound like a robot?
hi prime thats normal sticker not water slide decal.
And in side have one more box
@TheBigGundam13 About $150.
they have august productoin it surpasses mg articulation and is supposted to look reall
Dude, what happened to your nose? You should seek medical help!
i think she meant first GUNDAM pg
but you dont really build em there just already built
Umm actually this is the second perfect grade kit Bandai ever made... so yeah.
I believe the first was a Eva one
you really should paint some kits. you obviously know why you should....
Shining gundam is a Rx-78 2
It's not the first Perfect Grade... Evangelion was.
you didn't watch anime
dat mic
im always prepared for screwing...
ดีปะพีช
@SonicMegamanFan damn misinformation!

Be prepared for alot of screwing........ =)
さかな
them finger nails tho
Hey idk what u look like
really annoying audio
Mic/voice changer is too distracting.....sounds like a nasal munchkin chewing popcorn or rice crispies while talking...
@KiraXStrikeFreedom Not much to really panel line. Most of the lines are from the panels that open up.
hi prime thats normal sticker not water slide decal.
