Eaven whit that, it would still most likely get trough. I mean the bolt got trough whit almost no speed loss. Also, the bolt, eaven whit the broad tip, has 10x the power and 1/5th of the surface are as a punch. The ooblek is gona have a Much harder time stopping it than a fist, as it dosent eaven harden fast enough at those speeds.
8:42 lmao it looks like you where having a little to much fun with that bag. I would hate to know what you where thinking squeezing and spanking that bag.
Tyler, if you read this it went all the way through because the ooblek didn't have the time to harden. The arrow would slide through liquid ooblek, with the ooblek hardening behind it. Also, that ooblek looked a little thin.
It looks a little to thin for oobleck. Oobleck I've seen and made in the past was a lot thicker than that. You should re-try this video just mix the oobleck up with less water. But good video and idea man. I'd like to see you revisit this.
"Tell me what you would like me to shoot with my crossbow" ooo, ooo, what if you took a bucket of flex glue, dried it, and then try to shoot it? Will the crossbow be powerful enough to shoot all the way through??
@DJ Phat Phuck he said "alright let's get this into a trash bag" which is a similar line Steve uses when putting rations out onto a tray "Alright let's get this out onto a tray" All it's missing is the NICEEE
So two things: First, it's best to mix oobleck by weight not by volume. As to the bolt. What happened was when the bolt struck the bag the oobleck solidified, but still had enough room to part and allow the bolt through (hence why it was still dry.) Oobleck is great at stopping impacts, but not penetration.
I was thinking that he should've just used the cans to measure half the water. Plus the bowl graduates in size so it's probably not accurate to fill it halfway and it equal half the amount that the bowl holds.
Before watching all the way through, my prediction is that the crossbow will have absolutely no issues with penetration because of the small surface area of the tip.
Too much water... we need a do-over. When you did the punch test... it should have completely stopped your hand at the surface. The "unmixed parts" at the bottom... that was what you wanted. that was closer to true oobleck.
Hi Tyler, Amazing video as always!, I thought it would be an interesting idea to try doing something with the toilet you had a while back for the flush test video to see if a fluid like obleck could be passed through the system, or maybe trying to use obleck in a hydraulic system like a cylinder to see how it reacts compared to a thicker liquid like hydraulic fluid, Thanks and keep up the amazing work!
Great videos see the problem is that I know where your heads at but understand this ;when the oobleck is great at stopping larger surface objects it is not great at stopping aero dynamic especially spear shape points very well since it doesn’t much punch like a fist or slap but cut .but I get it why you were thinking that it would stop . But the keep the videos coming they are great 👍. And if you need any questions regarding an upcoming video , I’m at great engineer in engineering technology , basic physics and chemical compound behaviors .
Ooh! Okay, so new idea; try housing the n/n fluid in a _compressed_ state before shooting it and see what happens! I'm not entirely sure how to accomplish that with a vessel material that won't interfere with the velocity of the bolt while holding the fluid in a state of compression. But I wonder if that would deflect it!
Alright, so each "bowl" of corn starch was equal to about 49 ounces. Therefore, he added about 123 ounces of corn starch, and about a gallon of water. water is 8 pounds per gallon, and when combines with the weight of the cornstarch, he had about 16 pounds of oobleck to work with. Sorry if none of you understand this, I just love analyzing his videos for my personal entertainment. Please comment if I did my math wrong.
Speed is what beat the oobleck. The bolt was able to pass through before the oobleck could fully compress. So it would of been the same as shooting it through water
I love how the bag of oobleck is casually bleeding out behind him while he talks
I feel like that mix was too thin (the unmixed part at the bottom). I think we need take 2 😀
Most definitely, the stuff at the bottom was like concrete, having that mixed in would have made a serious difference.
Agreed. The mix still had a slight bounce factor when he punched it. If the consistency was correct the mix would have been almost solid with a punch.
Tyler's answering questions no-one knew they needed the answer to
It’s too thin. You need more cornstarch.
@Cutting Yoko’s bra! oh
Your not a complete asshole
If you needed a channel motto, maybe try, "Somewhere between Jackass and Mythbusters."
If he doesn’t respond to this SMH!! 😂
Perfect analogy
I think "maybe try" is even better
Assbuster?
Adam Trembath this absolutely sent me 😂😂😂💀💀💀
It's to liquidy still, but good vid
Yeah if you can mix with drill you added to much water.
I've never made it before but it seemed a little a soupy to me as well but still fun to watch. hehehe
Glad I wasn't the only one to see he put too much water in. Better to add small amounts until you get it the way you want it.
That's what happens when you take the time to workout ratios...only to ignore them 😂👏🏼🤦🏻♂️
So half of 2 3/4 is 1 1/4? No wait... 1 1/2.
And his scientific measuring bowl is great
"Can ooblek stop a crossbow?" Is the wrong question.
"How much ooblek does it take to stop a crossbow?"
Now we are getting somewhere...
“Forbidden pancake mix”😂
It’s still edible, just won’t taste great.
I was looking for someone else to say it!
That’s quitter talk.
Thumbs down for the edit commenting on likes🤦🏼♂️
"I put my crossbow in a rock tumbler for 30 days." Next time on TylerTube Z!
"And I did not add water"
@@noone2you622 it's his channel let him do what he wants it was I retesting no matter what
@@pambotts7334 So your not saying I am wrong? and thats exactly what would happen if he managed to rock tumble a cross bow? 😏
Lol
guy: what kind of armor do you wear?
me: this is that level 3A Oobleck... XD
XDDDDDDDDDD
Xd boi

3A sucks dude
bruh i was gonna comment OOBLECK ARMOR!
I feel like if I had a RUclips channel I’d do random stuff like this and I love it cause I genuinely get curious about this stuff too
DO IT!!
He's like a monkey playing with twigs. Nothing seriously scientific but kinda interesting.
Insta?

8:59 Tyler discovers the secret ingredient to create an army of artificial ass toys. His legacy is still known today (2050)
It was too thin. Proper ooblek is hard to mix by hand, let alone with the force of a drill
@Cutting Yoko’s bra! No... just make it like proper ooblek.
8:42 lmao it looks like you where having a little to much fun with that bag. I would hate to know what you where thinking squeezing and spanking that bag.
It was waaay too watery, you should try it again😁
8:05 Seeing that knot I think we need a types of knots tutorial video
Tyler: *Gets out a drill to mix oobleck.*
Me: Someone still doesn't understand non-newtonian fluids yet.
This channel isn't a met to be nerdy it's met to see what a guy with bread can do in his garage
I’ve been watching Tyler for so long I can’t even remember. I always am excited for his videos. He does some of the weirdest but coolest things.
Wouldn't have taken you for a RuneScape guy but clearly you're a man of culture.
Congrats on 500k
is that a rune cbow?!
Yes sir
Yeah they were goin nutz abt it in the last vid
Add me on rs3: Zercues
Lol I was looking for this comment
That knot was so satisfying to watch idek why😂
Plot twist: everything that he used is cocaine and he is a drug lord
I guess I found my new hook up.
The only reason he comes up with these crazy ideas for videos is because he doesn't keep it sealed up very well and is breathing it all day long.
Now listen here JC Denton... You're not supposed to tell everyone!
I'm donating my body to Tyler's channel when I die. Leave me in a jar of something for 30 days
Omg that face of disappointment!:'( I laughed so hard hahahah 🤣🤣🤣
The sad lil “I was wrong” is what got me haha
Netflix: are you still watching?

Why did I click on that timestamp with that thought in my head?!!!!
“Forbidden pancake mix”. 😂😂😂😂
Tyler makes me feel like he uses BLacK and Decker at home but snap on and matco in his tool box at work 😂🤣
Watching a guy punch oobleck, just how I like to spend my Wednesday night.
Tyler is the uncle we all wanted to hang out with as kids.
Tyler, if you read this it went all the way through because the ooblek didn't have the time to harden. The arrow would slide through liquid ooblek, with the ooblek hardening behind it. Also, that ooblek looked a little thin.
His face when he realized it went trough 😂
Community- how does oobleck work
Tyler- science shit
Poor Tyler, he looked genuinely shocked then broken-hearted when the oobleck started dripping from the plastic bag.
I think you added a little too much water in it but it still works.
Ya, I think so too. It would require more force and surface area to have the Oobleck gain the properties of a solid. But it was still cool.
My mind went right into the gutter when he started slapping the trash bag 🤣🤣
“Go somewhere else for your science” - Tyler probably

Wonder what the store clerk thinks when he pulls up with so much corn starch
I recently found this channel. And I'm in love. The show. The premise. The set up. All of it. I've binged so many videos at this point 😅😂❤️
Thank you ♥️
Tyler over here asking the real questions
I’ve certainly never considered this, but as soon as I saw the title I was like “I NEED to know”
If you fill a basketball up with Oobleck would it still bounce?
So two things: First, it's best to mix oobleck by weight not by volume.
As to the bolt. What happened was when the bolt struck the bag the oobleck solidified, but still had enough room to part and allow the bolt through (hence why it was still dry.) Oobleck is great at stopping impacts, but not penetration.
I almost died laughing when the bolt went straight threw and the left side started dropping albino turds😂
10:14 when she asked if you pulled out
“OOOOOBLICK”
The way you just looked up at the cam after the arrow went right thru 😂😂😂
How much yall wanna bet hes gonna make a remix of this?
He does stuff like me. Trying to calculate bowl ratios... When you could just add 1.5 cans of water. Lol
Petition for 'can a crossbow stop Oobleck?'
Imagine if bulletproof vests had oobleck in them
this was the funniest ending to a video i have ever seen😂 the look of disappointment on this mans face when it went through 😂😂
Tyler doing what Bill Nye doesn’t have the balls to do.
The crickets in the background honestly made this video so chill to watch
Do you know how sketchy it probably looked buying contractor bags a rope and two buckets

congrats on hitting 500k dude!!! also the face of disappointment when you saw the arrow went straight through was just funny as hell lol!
Rune c'bow!

It would have been hilarious to just cut right after he said "I was wrong"

You should try to fry the forbidden pancake mix in a deep fryer
I just watched a man that killed a bag of oobleck by hanging it.
I love how curious Tyler is! This makes everything so much more interesting :D

Loving the rune crossbow in the thumbnails lol
The sound of the oobleck leaking into the trash sounds sooo relaxing
Can flex seal stop a crossbow
Definitely think you should do a take 2 of this. The mixture was way too watery, which is why the dart went in no problem.
3:05 had me cracking up 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I NEVER KNEW I NEEDED TO KNOW THIS!!!
Congrats on 500k, Tyler!!!
I think you lost half of the mix at the bottom because it was way too thin. Please try this again, I think it has potential
Grats for the 500k! (Again)
🤟🍻👍😀
Loved the osrs crossbow you put in thumbnail 👌
hahaha your face when it goes thru, priceless! your chanel is awesome bro keep it up!
congrats on half a mill dude! can't wait to see you hit that milly

i 100% knew it would go through it because if you stick your hand in and pull up really hard the oobleck breaks apart into pieces then reforms.
Half way to a million subs. Congrats Tyler
Haha love the shirt man, hope you get more subscribers your content is funny and awesome!

bruh this is why i like u so much
you actually listen to peoples advice and give us what we want
I was glad you brought out that drill, stirring that with a stick or something would’ve been a nightmare haha
I wonder what would happen if you put fire works or some type of explosive in Oobleck and then you ignite it.
Speed is what beat the oobleck. The bolt was able to pass through before the oobleck could fully compress.
So it would of been the same as shooting it through water
I thought it would go through but did not expect it to be clean! Kind of makes sense I guess, with how thick that stuff is.
