RIP, Burt Reynolds. The man, The legend, The actor. He was also the lead in the original 1976 film of the same name.
I don't think it was long after this movie was filmed either
@fettel1988 this was almost 20 years ago. Burt passed like 4 years ago
@fettel1988 this was 2005
Absolutely love the longest Yard with Burt Reynold, just as good, not about the comedy it is about the camaraderie of he finally finds with the inmates. I hope you get a chance to watch it sometime
Smokey and Bandit and he Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Man Burt Reynold´s was magnificent in those as well. Burt Reynold´s and Tom Selleck, two guys who can pull out moustaches decade after decade and still be cool.
When so many pro wrastlers are in a movie it's usually a straight to DVD kinda movie, bus this turned out SO WELL!
Stone Cold actually had a pretty hard time saying those lines. He still does a podcast and is a pretty down to earth and reasonable dude.
Kevin Nash after his emotions get crazy is just hilarious lol
Many of the pro “wrastlers” were football players before they were wrestlers, Bill Goldberg sticks out in my mind. There were also a bunch of former pro football players in the cast as well.
Michael Irvin played the dude Adam Sandler played basketball against
@@williambryan3346yeah, that guy roman reigns was one too
This movie is endlessly rewatchable and quotable! “Whatever back freckle,” was the go-to retort for all of middle school 😂
Glad to know I'm not the only one. Most people didn't know what I meant when I said that lol
@@jackgammon1490 you are on the naughty list
And the “brucies time to shine” anytime a bad backup QB enters a game.
Little Fun Fact:
When Crewe is convincing the Warden to have the guards play a tune-up game, Adam Sandler's line was "Back in college, we always open up the season against Appalachian State, it's like some division 2 team. Kick the living shit outta them, get our confidence up." Appalachian State is a real school and they went on the win the FCS (Division 1-AA) National Championship the same year this movie was released (2005), the first of 3 straight National Championship victories. App State would use the clip in their promotional material and the team would watch the scene before they played #5 Michigan in 2007, a game they would win in a historic upset. As an apology, Adam Sandler bought season tickets to App State football games and reportedly is still a season ticket holder now. Appalachian State now plays in Division 1 in the Sun Belt Conference, and was most recently in the news for Upsetting #6 Texas A&M last season and subsequently hosting College Gameday.
I just rewatched this yesterday! Great movie 😅
Love that Burt Reynolds is in it, he played Adam Sandler’s part in the original film, also a lot of the players in the movie were or are real football players, even cheeseburger Eddie aka terry crews, also my favorite Michael Irving! ❤
Even Nelly played football in school.
@@earlonaweary9155 oh wow didn’t know that but that makes sense!
Superstar vs half a star 😂 so glad y’all watched this, knew y’all would like this
A maniacal pillow fight.😂😂😂
Lol I always loved his comeback: "Man, shut up before I slit your throat, and watch the dust come out!" LOL
Burt Reynolds
Stone Cold
Goldberg
Bob Sapp
The Great Khali
Terry Crews
Joey Diaz
Nelly
Chris Rock
Kevin Nash
Tracy Morgan and more
the cast for this movie is kinda crazy
Troy Aikman
Chris Berman
I was glad to see the commitment by Adam Sandler to this role. He got himself in the best shape of his life and learned how to play football better in order to be believable onscreen.
This is a remake of the 1974 film of the same name, which starred Burt Reynolds in the lead role. Both versions feature former NFL players, while this also features pro wrestlers and various other athletes
the original was a LOT darker
As some have pointed out, Burt Reynolds was the lead in the original movie. But as an added bonus, the guy who asked for a picture golfing (the one whose wife slept with Crewe) was Captain Knauer in the original Longest Yard. Nice little cameo. RIP Ed Lauter.
All the former pro football players and wrastlers are great.
In my opinion this is always a good rewatch every now and then
So many old school Football Players and Wrestlers in this movie. LOVE IT
One of the things I love about the movie is that they hired NFL camera men to film the last sequences. That gave it an awesome football documentary feel.
I love this movie
That caretaker joke at the end was perfectly timed
These guys EASILY have the best intro on RUclips. I never skip it no matter how long it is🤣 it’s like half scripted half improv like a WWE promo🤣
If you would like to see the British version, Mean Machine (2001) is basically the same story but with soccer starring Vinnie Jones. The film is an adaptation of the 1974 American film The Longest Yard which this remake is based on.
Mean Machine is amazing. Vinne Jones, Danny Dyer, Jason Statham etc is an amazing cast. That movie has so many hilarious moments. I think I prefer that movie over The Longest Yard any day.
Wasn't Vinnie Jones a soccer or rugby guy?
I recall a story about him getting kicked from a game in like 10 seconds. As soon as the game started he charged the other team and utterly obliterated someone.
@@TimedRevolver played football "soccer" professionally as a defensive midfielder
"Why does everyone hate him?" Because he shaved points off a football game. I'm pretty sure most of them are pissed off they made bets his team would win just to have him take a dive and lose on purpose.
Still one of my favorite Adam Sandler movies!
😎
Adam Sandler playing in the NFL is one of the most urealistic thing I've seen in a movie lol
😅😂 Definitely NOT a Burt Reynolds type but he did a good job.
Can't wait to see what you guys think of Little Nicky and Billy Madison. My favorites from Sandler
14:10 He was The Great Khali in the WWE. (Incidentally, his character was played by Jason Statham’s I’m the British version of this movie, set in an English prison, with a soccer game instead of American Football)
"I got shakes that'll make you quake, frys that will cross your eyes, I got burgers........I just got burgers"
This really is one of the greatest star studded movies out there. All the stars in different categories you got Adam Sandler and Chris Rock, Goldberg, Kevin Nash and Stone Cold Steve Austin, Nelly and Terry Crews with Michael Erivin plus more. This is one of my favorites I own on DVD
This movie never fails to make me laugh especially when Big Switoski hammers Dunham into the ground. Like oooomph.
I don’t even like football like that but whenever the longest Yard water, boy, or the replacements or remember the Titans I always watch my all time faves lol 😁
LETS GOO! Bout to kick back and watch this classic with y’all
This movie is one of my favourite with Adam Sandler, but for me "Reign over me" is the best movie he ever made and you two should totally check it out. Great reaction as always!
Check out Uncut Gems...
@@desmondmaldonado6466 It's my second favourite with him. Fantastic performance there as well 😎
This movie is timeless. very much your sense of humor
"W.e back freckles" 😆🤣 wanted to see that
I actually like this over the original. I just felt like the comedy in the original was outdated and not my type. I did get a few chuckles out of the original though.
However my outlook on the original might have been skewed since I saw the remake first. So that might have something to do with it.
HE BROKEDED MY NOSE lol
This was a super funny movie. I’ve not seen it in ages, and enjoyed watching this reaction from you both.
This movie is is literally… GOLD!!!
Everything Chris Rock says in this movie is PERFECT!
This is a remake of a movie made in 1974, which depending on where you lived in the world was called The Longest Yard or also Mean Machine. Around the same time as this there was another remake in Britain called Mean Machine with ex-football (soccer) player turned actor Vinnie Jones in the lead role and with English football as the game played.
This movie ALWAYS makes me laugh! Never gets old. Lol you two getting it at the end! You made it even more fun! Great review👏🏽🤣🤣
HUSTLE, Sandler's latest sports movie (Basketball), is FANTASTIC!!! You should react to that one, or at least add it to what I assume is an ever growing list. It's on Netflix
Another great football movie from the 70s rarely mentioned or reacted to with NO remake is "North Dallas Forty". It captures the football spirit of the late 70s PERFECTLY. I was in middle school when this movie came out.
Burt Reynolds starred in the original movie. There was also a British remake called "Mean Machine"
Loved this movie growing up. My dad loves cheeseburger Eddie. He can't help but quote baby back b alot. Also nelly's song Fly away is great. I remember when it was on the radio like crazy. 14:15 man survived the chair three times. If surviving the chair wasn't an urban myth he'd be a free man.
this is an underrated movie
Still to this day, I use that line every time someone messes up while reading something... always have, always will lmao
You guy’s reactions are too much fun!!!!😂😂 Love this film also!!!!!
One of my favorite characters in this movie is inmate Unger, played by David Patrick Kelly. He's most famous for his part as "Luther' in both "The Warriors" and "48 hours" -- it's head-canon the two movies take place in the same "reality". More recently he played Charlie the "clean up crew" guy in John Wick.
Warriors... come out and playeeeyaeah!!!
If you like American Football movies, "Any Given Sunday" is a classic. Such a good movie. Lots of stars.
Imagine the bloopers with this movie. 😂
it's awesome it is included on the bluray version, the Fumbles and Stumbles gag reel stuff lol
that for your mother thing in the beginning was hilarious i recognize those drums lol
Love how much you guys jam to soundtracks!
Lowkey been thinking of making a music react channel, but I just don't got the time for that lol. We definitely love music!
@@OctoKrool I think you guys should go for it. You guys have great personalities. If music is something you really love what’s there to loose? Why don’t you guys brainstorm how to do it as a short? The videos only a minute. You could highlight the intro, chorus and conclusion. You don’t even have to introduce the song. Just put it in the title somewhere. Film your guys reaction to two songs a week that’s 12 minutes of video. I know there’s a ton of editing involved and we all have I hard time making time. But trust me guys, yougot something good going,
don’t be afraid to expand. Who you guys are is what’s attractive to your audience.
Also, the guard in the library that intentionally dropped the book, and that was given the pills that made him all emotional, is Kevin Nash, former wrestler as well
Nelly! Great running back and his music hypes the movie.
I like Nelly he never gets old
This movie is great there is such a huge star cast
Fun Fact: Mean Machine as the team name is a reference to the original British version of this movie that came out 4 years prior called Mean Machine staring Jason Stathom and Vinnie Jones
Mean Machine was the name of the team in the original Longest Yard movie from the 70s, with Burt Reynolds playing Sandler's role.
The big guy was the great khalik from work, the receiver was Micheal Irvin from the superbowl.dallas cowboys, and u know the running back was nelly
It wasn’t just wrestlers that I was surprised to see but a bunch of other people as well. Michael Irvin (Cowboys wide receiver, Hall of Famer and one of the best WRs of all time and held most, if not all, team records when he retired, and known for epic anger and entitlement issues (nearly killed a teammate when the teammate refused to get out of a barber chair so he didn’t have to get his hair cut)), Bob Sapp (MMA/kickboxer), Bill Romanoski (Linebacker that won 4 Super Bowls with 2 teams), Nelly (rapper), Chris Berman (one of the most well known sportscasters here in the US), Jim Rome (host of various sports radio shows), and D12 (rap group, Eminem being the only one missing). I think there were others as well but these are the main ones I remember off the top of my head.
Bill Goldberg and Steve Austin played football irl. Steve played in college and Goldberg played in the NFL for Atlanta falcons
#44 at 25:03 That's The University of Oklahoma's legendary linebacker Brian Bosworth "The Boz"- Won 2 Butkus Awards. You see him as the Sheriff of Fansville in Dr. Pepper ads all the time. BOOMER SOONER! 😤☝⭕
Now we need to watch the Replacements
Y’all were outta pocket at the end 😂
the guy at the 13:39 marker is Eddie Bunker. People know him as Mr Blue in Reservoir Dogs. Bunker did time in prison for armed robbery. Inside he turned himself into a writer. He wrote Animal Factory and No Beast so Fierce. Both were made into movies. No Beast so Fierce became the movie STRAIGHT TIME with Dustin Hoffman which I highly recommend.
The first time I saw the ref getting hit in the Mcnuggets with the ball, I couldn't stop laughing for like 10 minutes...maybe more
Glad to see you finally got your gift! At least, now I know it takes awhile for something to get to you. Great review! 😃
Intro gets my hyped everytime lol.
I was waiting for you guys to watch this gold movie. 😂😂
One of my son's all-time favorite movies
The OctoKrool brothers would enjoy watching a movie with a similar topic to this one: *ESCAPE TO VICTORY* (1981 film) starring Sylvester Stallone and the legendary Pele.
It made sense to have Goldberg in this even more when you find out he was a football player when he was younger
Yep, a damn good Georgia Bulldog! A number of pro wrestlers were football players that had an early end to any hopes of making that a career. The Rock played at Miami.
This movie really had Burt Reynolds, The Great Khali, Bob Sapp, Nelly, Goldberg, Tracy Morgan, Kevin Nash, Michael Irvin, Joey Diaz, & Big boy in it 🙌🏾
And Stone Cold Steve Austin
There were a lot of wrestlers but there were a bunch of other big names as well like Bob Sapp, Bill Romanowski, Michael Irvin, Nelly, Terry Crews, Brian Bosworth, and Bill Fichtner. The comedy in this is hysterical, I love watching this! Great job guys!
Brian Bosworth was in this?
and Kevin Nash
@@-tv3009 Kevin Nash was a wrestler, too, that's why I didn't list him.
@@paulgardner5079 sure was. He was one of the other white guards rockin the crew cut. If memory serves, he was one of the guards messing with Nelly in the library.
@@jasonmcnair5294 If you like Bosworth the movie Stone cold is worth checking out
I Don't Care what other people have to say about this version of the longest yard i looooove it and saw it in theatres back in 2005 :) loved it then as well in my opinion never gets old 100%!!!!
This is a Good Remake. I enjoy this segment. The original “The Longest Yard,” 1974 is one of the fun classic sport movie starring Burt Reynolds.
The Mean Machine is a throwback to the movie this was based of called Mean Machine starring Vinnie Jones
You guys may not have noticed, but the older receptionist was Frau Blücher in Young Frankenstein.
Good remake , Nice that Burt was in both of them.
Courtney Cox though in the beginning. Yes Ma'am! Also, @9:54 The white guy at the table behind Adam, next to the guy with long tails. That is me, was a great job as background actor. Met all the wrestlers, Adam, Chris Rock, Michael Irving, and Bert f***ing Reynolds. The big guy is named Dalip Singh, met him. He made my 6'6" 275lb butt feel very very small.
The guard that they gave estrogen too is Kevin Nash, he was one of the two wrestlers who started NWO back in the day. He was in John Wick as the guard that John makes a comment about him losing weight and let’s him live. He also was The Punisher as a Russian assassin, in one scene the Punisher stabs him in the shoulder/upper chest area, however they forgot to swap the knife with a fake one so he actually gets stabbed but keeps going. That scene is pretty nuts to see how he doesn’t even react to having a good 3-4” blade stab into him.

By watching this movie, you've now signed a contract with the people promising you'll watch the original 1974 film, and by association, the soccer version called Mean Machine.
If you think he got his butt whooped in this one, you should see the original longest Yard with Burt Reynolds. He straight up got his butt whooped
Hell yeah. Just watched the waterboy reaction and was wondering if you guys were gonna do this
15:04 idk how Adam Sandler could've kept a straight face 🤣🤣
This is NFL Blitz the movie! Best video game movie parody
10:35 - When Crew suggests a tune-up game, he says 'We used to start each season against Appalachian State or some slack Division 2 team.' Later this same year, Appalachian State University went on to win it's first of three CONSECUTIVE national championships. (GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!)
13:18 - Burt Reynolds was the star of the original The Longest Yard that this movie is a reboot of.
29:12 - In the TV edit, the line is "I think I broke his freakin' neck."
The original staring Burt Reynolds, Eddie Albert and others. Is IMHO so much more worth reacting to.
As always, another great reaction!! One of my all-time favorite movies!!
@28:00 “You must always protect the McNuggets.” 🤣
A good hillarious movie! This is a remake and starred by the late Burt Reynolds. I recommend to Watch the Hustle by Adam Sandler as a basketball scout of the NBA.
Me and the homies had the same PE class in high school. We were ruthless as a team. And also ridiculous cuz we played for laughs 😅
Great remake of a great movie. A lot of the cast , both guards and cons were former football players and/or wrestlers and the trainer that helps carry Stone Cold off after his hit is one of the best football choreographers in Hollywood.
Best cast ever plus the big guy is The Great Khali
Burt Reynolds what a Legend. the British version of Mean Machine (The Longest Yard) is brilliant.
I've always felt like there's an alternate timeline where Paul just murders the Warden while they're alone in the locker room. You know, right after the man threatens his freedom and life, after pretty much gloating that he got Caretaker killed. There are so many ways the pro-athlete could snuff out the old man.
Nice! Been waiting for this one😅
Crazy Movie Fact: The Longest Yard was filmed in an actual penitentiary prison, a prison where the convicts took over and executed other convicts by cutting off their heads and started playing soccer on the same field where Sandler and the rest of the actors did their football training or tryouts or tree-outs.
Anyone else notice the trend in prison movies the guards do a lot of unjustified violence? Every real life prisoner I've ever met says that's how it is. Power corupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely
Lol bro on the left did a line before they hit record 😂
William Fichtner really aged in 8 years. He looks quite old in the Mom tv series but looks really young in this movie.
Think you guys would enjoy Gridiron Gang with The Rock ! Great reaction as always ❤
That is such a great film, people like to say Rock isn't a good actor but he's so good in that film and Walking Tall is also another very underrated film and performance.
I would suggest the same.
Classic movie love the video octokrool stay motivated Dream big 1 mill on the way
I was hoping to see you guys react to when Caretaker tricks Brucie with the "who we gonna kiss?" part. That's funny. Anyway, the guard who watched Great Khalid was really named Papajohn. Michael Papajohn as Guard Papajohn. He was the thief who killed Uncle Ben in the first Spider-Man with Tobey.
The Vinnie Jones version of this movie is pretty damn good too... its called "Mean Machine"
The first of the black guys that joins the team is the rapper Nelly, and he does the song "Boom!" Also a few of the dudes at the basketball court are members of Eminem's Detroit based group D-12, and they have a song on the soundtrack too, "My Ballz" lmao
Kevin Nash on estragin is the best part
