valkyrie's charge costs 3 actions, does an AOE heal (worth 3 actions), gives conscious allies 3 actions (stride twice their speed, strike), and gives unconscious allies 5 actions (same as before, plus standing up and picking up weapon). In a standard 4 person party it's a net gain of 9-15 actions. This literally turns a TPK death spiral into a party victory. Absolutely thematic and rightfully powerful capstone type ability for this class.

True, but if you never TPK in optimized party then it still v.good but not as good.

This really is an incredible class. Just wow.
I will say with ready, aim, fire … as amazing as it is, on their turn the characters will spend actions to draw or regrip weapons. Also those secondary weapons may not have all the runes of the primary. But still… amazing ability.

39:22 It's been a week, so maybe this has already been caught, but the Banner trait is a little more restricting than just "you need to have your banner visible".
The Banner trait specifies: "To use an ability that has the banner trait, you must be holding your banner in one hand or wielding a weapon it is attached to"
So your Banner's aura that gives a +1 bonus to Will saves/DCs against fear just requires the banner to be visible, whether that is strapped to your back, in your hand, attached to a weapon, or planted on the ground. Also, the Steed feat allows you to attach your banner to your mount, allowing you to keep the banner mobile while not being on your person.
Something like Form Up, which says "squadmates affected by your banner", just means squadmates within the banner emanation, no matter where it is. It doesn't have the Banner trait because you don't have to be holding it.
Compare to Defensive Retreat above it, which does have the Banner trait. As written, you can't use Defensive Retreat unless you are actively holding the banner, or have the banner attached to a weapon you are wielding. If you plant it, or strap it to your back or horse, you can't use Defensive Retreat

With the "Read Aim Fire" ability I think they should maybe separate some of the free actions. Like you can either pull out a ranged weapon, or reload a ranged weapon, or attack with ranged. Something like that maybe. But doing all of them I'm not sure.

The commander feels like it was designed for me. Wow I can't wait for a chance to play it...

Interesting first take on a commander class, the recall knowledge stuff is very nice without needing to be super flashy. But I can't help myself from thinking about how the multiclass feats will be gated. For example borrowing the Defiant Banner at level 16 will probably far outshadow any feat because it scales like it does. (I think that the kenetisist has similar problems with it's DC less scaling abilities)

Very nice and fun class! That's an additional stone on vancian casters grave. I forsee many more 100% martial parties in the future

Kinda wanna play this with a Marshall archetype. Buff my allies and then Dread Marshall stance to put fear into my foes. Would that work?

I wonder if this is designed with Starfinder 2e in mind. Both of these classes feel thematic in both systems. Not that I think that's a bad thing, I actually think it's great and both these classes are exciting.

I was making a marshal class homebrew that I never published nor finished, it's funny to see some of my ideas in the commander

    Combat sequence lvl 16: 3 Battlecry + Rogue archtype + 1 Haste
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    1. Player A (1 action): Stride (quickened)
    2. Player A (2 actions): Demoralizing Charge (+ Drilled Reflexes)
    3. Player B (free): Stride (into flanking position)
    4. Player C (free): Stride (into flanking position)
    5. Player B (free): Strike
    6. Player A (reaction): Opportune Backstab
    7. Player C (reaction): Opportune Backstab
    8. Player B (reaction): Opportune Backstab
    9. Player C (free): Strike (use when an Opportune Backstab misses to keep the chain going)
    10. Player A (1 action): Fortune Blow
That is a repeatable 2-3 strides + 6 attacks in a single turn. Everyone does lose their reaction though.
I am not sure if the Strikes and Opportune Backstabs can be stacked like this.

This sounds great. I really hope that 90+% survives playtest reviews and editing. If people get miffed that the Commander being "cracked (in a white box)," and "too action efficient (in a white box)," Paizo should raise the bar for everyone else. Not drop this class down. Really buy into the "epic heroes with amazing abilities" theme of the game. Kineticist survived playtesting decently well, so there's hope for these two too.

Looks good but imo not as good as Maestro Bard. However.... Maestro Bard taking Commander dedication with Free Archetype! Might be new meta for ultimate Support build!
Also Commander +2 Fighters .... omphhh :D Can't wait to get my hands on this class in Pathbuilder in future!

I am both loving and hating this class. It looks super powerful and fun to play, but the simulationist part of me is screaming "This makes absolutely no sense!!"

I absolutely love the look and feel of the commander, but this feels overpowered. This playtest reaction feels the same way the kineticist did and they are testing the floor and ceiling of these abilities.
