    It is very important to only consume ORGANIC soy. Conventional soy is heavily sprayed with glyphosate, which destroys your gut lining. This goes for grains, legumes, nuts and seeds as well. They are sprayed to dry them right before harvesting them. So, make sure to only buy organic!!

    You have to be careful with soy as it binds iodine and can slow down your metabolism. The Japanese traditionally eat soy with seaweed, (such as in miso) to boost their iodine levels.

      Hi
      You're welcome!
      Small amounts of soya are fine but a lot of people find that it is quite hard to digest and can cause bloating. Maybe just have once a week, I know the beans can be eaten fresh but not sure about frozen ones, sorry.

    Hi, loving your work ...
    I've noticed my joint pains, and stiffness has reduced quite a lot since Summer. I'm walking just as much, the only thing I'm doing different is the fruit ... I was eating lots of berries in summer. I'm still eating veg, but no tomatoes either. Could this just be coincidence? ?
    I'm vegetarian, and eat nuts, pulses, beans etc xx

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  4 года назад +6

      Hi Lindsay
      Tomatoes are a member of the Deadly Nightshade family (as are peppers, potatoes and aubergines); these are notorious for irritating the joints so giving up the tomatoes can certainly make a difference. Eating too many berries could be a factor too as you would be consuming a lot of fruit sugars which can irritate the joints as well.

    Hi Eileen
    Im 51 still have my periods every month for 5- 6 days.
    A couple of days after I finish, I have a small bleed/spotting for a few days.
    I have started acupuncture treatment. Do estrogen rich foods and supplements help this? Many thanks

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  3 года назад +1

      Hi Mel
      If periods are still regular with spotting afterwards, this can indicate that oestrogen is a little high so the oestrogen supplements wouldn't be recommended. In this situation we would recommend the herb Agnus Castus but I would wait and see how the acupuncture goes first as this can often be really helpful at this point, to help re-balance the hormones.

      Water is the most important thing to change in your diet but make sure that you eat plenty of vegetables and good protein such as meat and fish or if you are vegetarian have a small amount of pulses, grains, eggs and a little organic dairy. I have posted a blog on a good diet for the menopause so please do take a look.

      Bioflavonoids are also helpful for vein issues. It can be hard to find a supplement that has a significant enough amount to help, however I found Swanson do a vitamin C supplement with a good amount of bioflavonoids. Of course diet is important too. You have to target these things from all angles and give it time.

    I have not had a cycle in 5 months and was wondering i should increase estrogen foods. I can't get my doctor to test my estrogen and progesterone because she said that it is a wide range. I have heard that you need progesteron when just starting in peri or menopause because estrogen is higher because progesterone falls first??? So confusing. Please help.

    • @AvogelCoUk

      Hin
      If you have a good varied diet with lots of fresh foods these should provide phyto-oestrogens or you could take a natural phyto-oestrogen supplement such as our Menopause Support or Black Cohosh.
      In some women progesterone call decrease quicker and this often causes heavy or prolonged periods, however, it is really difficult to get natural progesterone supplements so you would need to speak to your doctor about this.

      Hi Barsha
      A healthy diet is going to be of help and adding these foods is a good idea. It is best that your mom asked her doctor what the best exercises are as this could depend on the type of operation she had, however, a brisk walk every day should be fine.

      @@AvogelCoUk thank you so much for responding! :) I'm wondering if fat malabsorbtion can have an impact on the ability to make estrogen? I'm 28 and began premature menopause last year in April, and I noticed that my body stopped being able to process fat, because my stools became very loose and discolored out of nowhere, and they've been that way ever since. It's worse the more fat I eat, so that's why I think it's fat malabsorbtion. My estrogen levels have been on a rapid decrease since April, so that's why I'm wondering if fat malabsorbtion can cause lowered estrogen levels?

      Thank you so much. I was feeling horrible two days ago with feeling cold in part of my limbs. When I took two sea moss capsules it helped and later I took two more and boy oh boy heat!! I am feeling better but I will find Echinacea. I went from 500+ platelets in Aug last year I now have 355 or so as of blood work two days ago. So so know it’s my hormones. I cannot get people to help me here. My Nurse she keeps saying I have to not have any form of period before they can help. SMH 🤦🏽‍♀️ i know that’s not true. But because of such forgetfulness and brain fog I forgot to document last cycle. But it has been a year I just can’t find or remember if I did write it down. I feel so alone and crazy even talking with my nurse. It was the cardiologist I went to in 2020 due to high pulse and B/P as well as irregular heart rhythm starting in 2017 (peri menopause but they kept saying I was too young) anyway the cardiologist thank god she was my age seen nothing wrong and asked my age and said “Oh my girl you’re going thru the change” as a matter of fact every woman at the office who was my age said they knew it was just hormones giving me anxiety, heart rate elevated, heart palpitations etc. they made me feel less crazy. But I still get no help from my nurse. She’s still very young and USA 🇺🇸 they do not focus on menopause like they should.
      Lastly, what form and brand that is here in good old USA would you recommend me get of Echinacea?

      A.Vogel UK that‘s exactly what I‘ve been doing every morning and sometimes during the day, since I saw on here that Miso is one of the good estrogen „replacements“. I‘ve been using Mugi Miso, but there is a great macrobiotic online shop in south Germany, and I‘m ordering an Onozaki and Shirokoshi (I believe they are called) miso type as well. I am still suffering with the painful urination and general feeling of having a bladder infection (not constant, very unpredictable). I believe it flared up because I needed to fly back to Canada to family rather spontaneously and the whole 9 hour time difference (and poorer eating habits while there!) really wreaked havoc in my body. So I have decided to try a urologist and see what they have to say about this pain. Also am starting a colon cleanse probio cult and Mutaflor - not sure what they’re called in English. Maybe it will all help.

      Hi R B
      Yes, in a way it is, the better the ratio between oestrogen and progesterone as they both decrease, the less likely you are to get menopause symptoms. Unfortunately, oestrogen levels can go up as well as down and it is this fluctuation that can cause a lot of the symptoms.
      Phyto-oestrogens are very mild so can help to increase oestrogen if it's low but can also protect oestrogen receptor sites from the stronger oestrogen that can affect symptoms so they are gentle balancers.

    What about progesterone? I keep hearing that estrogen is higher and progesterone is what needs to be increased I am so confused

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  4 года назад +1

      Hi DC
      The majority of menopause symptoms are caused by low oestrogen so this is why we focus on supporting oestrogen levels. In this situation if you take only progesterone, you could make symptoms worse. Very low progesterone can cause severe mental issues such as manic depression, which needs proper medical treatment, so this is not something we can advice on.

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  4 года назад +1

      Hi DC
      The main issue with HRT is that it doesn't stop the menopause but only puts it on hold. It fools the body into thinking there are plenty of hormones (which is great at the time!) so you don't experience symptoms. However, your own hormone production continues to fall. If you need to stop the HRT later on, the sudden loss of hormones can trigger another hormone fall (as your own hormone level will be a lot lower by then) and this can cause menopause symptoms, in some women, all over again.
      We do realise that for some women HRT is their only option for various reasons but if you can get through the menopause without it, it is usually easier on the body in the long run.

      Hi DC
      Yes, there is life afterwards but it can take quite a while for the body to learn to adapt with less hormones. This is why it is really important to look after yourself well and the stronger and healthier you are the less likely you are going to get difficult symptoms!
      Thank you for watching!

      You are not considered safe from pregnancy until you have gone two years without a period, before that time it is wise to use precautions if you don't wish to risk getting pregnant.

      Oestrogen-rich foods can help generally but may not contain enough to help you conceive, but you could seek the advice of a Nutritional Therapist who may be able to formulate a personalised diet for you which may be better.

    If you freeze the seeds does the estrogen “keep”?

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  4 года назад +2

      Hi Lesley
      Most of the phyto-oestrogenic compounds are produced as the seeds sprout. I have never sprouted seeds from frozen so I am not sure if this would work as well.

      Yes, your sister could try these foods but I would recommend she sees a fertility expert for best advice. If she wishes to see a natural practitioner then either a herbalist or nutritional therapist would be good idea and acupuncture can often be of benefit too.
