Carrie-Ann Moss and Keanu Reeves both look barely older considering the 22 year gap. The real world looks so much more real while still feeling decidedly Matrix like. I can't believe how many amazing films are coming out so soon. We've got multiverses and false realities. It's going to be mind blowing for us as well as the characters.

Can't blame you for taking a break. Holidays are always busy and there's so much stuff coming out on top of that. I'll be seeing it multiple times so maybe I'll have it all figured out by the time Erik breaks it down. Ha, yeah, unlikely. Erik is an insane genius. He'll be analyzing Inception levels deep into this film and I'll be Cillian Murphy wondering what's going on.
In the original matrix when Neo gets paid for that program he sells in the beginning it's inside of hollow version of the book Simulacra & Simulation. An examination of the relationships between reality, symbols, and society relative to an understanding of shared existence.
The entire series is full of very on the nose stuff like this, but it weaves a very intricate ethos by its end.
5:04 according to the latest trailer from game awards, he actually walked into this scene through that tear after walking through the train scene and entering a portal. Fittingly that's where "Morpheus" talks about their use of nostalgia to help ease Neo's anxiety about what he and Bugs are trying to reveal to him about himself.
This entire movie is basically the final part of Simulacra and Simulation (the philosophy book that Neo stored his illegal program in during the first Matrix movie): "The fourth stage is pure simulacrum, in which the simulacrum has no relationship to any reality whatsoever. Here, signs merely reflect other signs and any claim to reality on the part of images or signs is only of the order of other such claims.
This is a regime of total equivalency, where cultural products need no longer even pretend to be real in a naïve sense, because the experiences of consumers' lives are so predominantly artificial that even claims to reality are expected to be phrased in artificial, "hyperreal" terms. Any naïve pretension to reality as such is perceived as bereft of critical self-awareness, and thus as oversentimental."
I doubt they would make another one of these movies without knowing they had something truly epic. I’m getting increasingly excited for this

Neo is the newest version of the operating system and some of his memories are being used by the machines to keep him in place.
He can’t let them die cuz they will just be reborn so he decides to keep them under his control

I cant get over the fact that a lot of the "real world" shots are still tinted in blue, which kinda has me wondering if the "real world" is definitely another level. From past books and movies diving into this subject matter, it would not surprise me if they did the simulation within a simulation within another simulation to further strengthen the machine's control over humanity. It would stand to reason that after six iterations the machines have gotten "exceedingly efficient" at controlling humans.
@@GuideToModernFootball So what? That could be the whole point. The Wachoskis art seems to reflect their belief that there is more beyond this world that we live in. There's many people who see our reality as a simulation, and the "meta"-ness of watching a simulation(the Matrix movies) within a simulation(our perceived reality) indicates that there are more and more layers. It's turtles all the way down, and why not so for this film?
@@GuideToModernFootball it has its uses. If handled well it could be rewarding. Id trust whatever the Wachowski’s do. I for one dont think they are doing layered matrixes.

Actually this takes 60 years into the future, Morpheus is dead but neo unconsciously created a duplicate of Morpheus in the update of the matrix and the machines turned his code into an agent

It’s interesting that people read the two pod room as extra security to keep them as prisoners of war. I assumed it was to honor them as they brought about peace and sacrificed themselves to end the virus. I saw them as honorable, sacred pods.

I second this. The machines have great respect for Neo, he was an outlier that taught them humans were more than they'd learned so far. There definitely was some internal struggle between the machines on this subject though, I fully expect the blue machines to be the ones trying to get to his old, not the rebels.
I think all of the thoughts about them are right.
They are representations of the Divine masculine and the Devine feminine energies that are integral for creation.

Love powers the Matrix, not bio-mechanical batteries aka "Copper tops." It would really make both Neo and Trinity equally important that way, so it is their "attraction" that really drives this simulated world with love that machines cant duplicate. It was never about harnessing voltage but something "else" more powerful. That's my guess anyway

A few John wick is a Matrix simulation observations I’ve noticed and not seen commented on.
Adjudicator and Administrator (Wick) and the Architect (Matrix). The Matrix is all about binary code (zeroes and ones). Neo is the One. Zero is tasked with killing John Wick in Parabellum by the Adjudicator who is certainly not coincidentally someone who is non binary.
In John wick 1 when Charlie comes to clean his house there is a window washing scene reminiscent of the window washing in the first matrix when Neo is awakened by his alarm at 9:18 and is late to work and when he gets to his office the window washers are working.
It would be cool but it's a different compagny

Both are shot on film, portrayed by Keanu reeves, male protagonist - both neo and John wick have hands and feet - the similarities keep piling on! 🙄
As long as no other actor takes Keanu’s place I’ll be satisfied. Very excited about the alternate trinity prospects.

The Machines can't kill Neo. So they have to keep him alive but separate him from everyone else. They make you believe Groff is Agent Smith, But I think he is just playing Smith in the movie with in this movie and while rehearsing lines he reminds Neo of what's real.
Right. Or else they would have to do all of this all over again lol

As for Christina Ricci it seems that she's playing Neo's boss at this video game company according to character discriptions. So I don't think she's one of the variations you see when Trinity is screaming. Personally I only see Carrie-Anne Moss and Jessica Henwick

Wow. The wachowski’s opened everybody’s third eye in the possibility of their reality being something of a simulation. After we have all fallen back asleep, Lana’s about to give us a wake up call by breaking that fourth wall of the films lore and going a step further. Was matrix really just a film you once saw? Or was is something more?

You guys should make either a separate segment or separate channel that breaks down the lore of video games, like Halo or even Fortnite because the lore in that game has gotten so deep that you guys would love it, and it has amazing little details only y’all could find.
If there is a civil war between factions then each side might have it's own matrix. A blue matrix and a red matrix. That might be why everything is similar but not quite, it's a copy of the original.
I like this. Possibly direct interaction between the different matrices?

Could the machines have found a way to split the power of the ‘one’ between neo and trinity? Making the powers weaker unless they’re joined together in the action?
The machines never gave the one any power, the power was derived by the remainder in an equation. If the architect changed the equation so that the remainder was two, this could very well be a possibility

I'm in the minority here, and I may regret it, but I'm more excited for this than for Spiderman. This franchise was my teenage years. It might end up sucking, but I'm so here to see these characters again.
I'm sort of bummed about this meta-awareness of the previous Matrix version. The machines seem less sinister if they're just highlighting humanity's apathy in such a direct way.

If the word resurrection is a mock of Remake, redone, reboot, restart. I’m so much in it for the humorous meta fun. 2021 is in high need of a lot of meta fun stuff. Simulatte is definitely used for the fun of it. Not because Lana W thinks we’re going to take that name seriously. Even the kittens name is Deja Vu.
