Totally right big guy, kanami is not the most technical of players, its her compositions, feel for playing and not overplaying, she is also a guitarist that has her own style which you can instantly recognise. This puts her into a very special category of guitar players. 🤘🤘
From Japan All members of BAND-MAID prioritize making a song better than standing out. They also value making other members shine. They don't show off their techniques or do things that no one else can do for their own personal use. On the contrary, they value the coolness that anyone can play. This song was performed as a live-only song for fans in order to give vocalist Saiki a break. They have been together for 12 years since their formation, and all the members have remained the same, and they still have that feeling.
There are many experienced amateurs who can copy this lead guitar. Kanami's true talent lies in the way she connects a wide variety of riffs in the background of Saiki's singing, and the fact that she composes them herself. Some people call her a "riff machine."
Band-Maid have these instrumentals to give their vocalist a break while playing live shows. As a whole unit, with Saiki/Miku duets and complex Misa bass, Akane drums and Kanami guitar, they are superb, whether they're the best or not. What actually makes them people's favorite band is their personalities captured in Kanami's music, performed with a passion by the whole band. They are a top five live band for me over my lifetime - and I'm old. Their energy is something very special.
Amateur : one lacking in experience and competence in an art or science. BAND-MAID formed in 2013 and performed more than hundreds of live shows, local and overseas up to now and almost reach a hundred of songs in their catalog.
PRS only selects the best amateur guitar players to be official brand artists. It's not your jam and just say that. But to criticize her ability is ridiculous.
THANK YOU idk why everyone’s acting like the fans are mad just because he doesn’t like it it’s fine music is subjective not everyone’s gonna like the same thing (which is a good thing) but let’s not downplay or talk down on talented artist just because we personally don’t enjoy it.
Kanami is a feel player and has her distinctive style. She's no amateur but not the best either imo. She definitely has a completely different set of mind and sees music as a whole.
Band Maid comes to the stage with a completely different mindset than every other group that I’m aware of. They aren’t looking for accolades. They aren’t trying to impress anyone. The Maids write songs for the fans to enjoy. You will never see them in “show off mode” because they just aren’t wired that way. At the Rockville Festival in Florida, Kanami was asked for her thoughts before hitting the stage. She said, “Thank you. I will try to do my best.” And as they walked down the stairs to applause from fellow musicians and stagehands, they each smiled and respectfully bowed to them.
The first sign of a great guitar solo is what they don't play. They play to add dynamics to the song, they don't play just to show off. (there are lots of players out there that play fast and say absolutely nothing). I appreciate you taking the time to react, but if you're listening while your brain is being clouded during Beer Night, Pretzel Logic isn't going to work on those with a clear head. Again, thanks for listening to this song.
You actually should have watched From Now On. That is a better example of Kanami's guitar work. I think one thing about the band is that all of the are very good at their respective instruments and Kanami is actually the composer of Band-Maid's music. Kanami doesn't like to use tapping as a way to show off, but more for the change in the tone, so what you're saying about the tapping not being too complex is exactly what she is trying to do. She is also uses her guitar to replace the vocals. The whole band likes to play to support the song and not to stand out unless Kanami asks Misa (bassist) or Akane (drummer) to do so.
There is no album version of Onset nor is it on streaming, released on a bonus CD that came with a Limited edition 2 single pack of Glory & Bubble and included Puzzle & Anemone acoustic live and Onset live. A White Room studio version was also included with the limited edition version of the Conqueror album
I could argue that Zack's critique is amateurish and lacking depth. Many metalheads fall into a trap, believing a guitar solo should be minutes of rapid hammer-ons and pull-offs. I had this opinion when I was 13 years old. When I was challenged with learning jazz and classical guitar, I came to realize how much more complex and difficult those genres are compared to metal. There is much more to guitar playing and composition than how fast and long a guitar player can shred.
Nothing more funny like self-entitled nobodies looking down on elite musicians. This situtaion is certainly due to too much beer and sheer lack of finesse. But I had a good laugh, which is already a form of success of yours.
Band maid are a hard rock band that focuses on the song, not virtuoso guitar playing. Kanami writes all the songs and she has her own unique style. That being said, she is an outstanding guitar player. There is nothing amateurish about Band Maid whatsoever. Watch their From now on official music video. It is another Instrumental. I would say that it's better than Onset. Just remember that Kanami is not about shredding, she is all about melody. Her guitar solo replaces the vocal melody.
Kanami is a really good guitarist, but she is rarely very forward in the mix. Solos are short and sweet. She's also the primary music writer for the band. Better examples of her guitar would be DIFFERENT MV, HATE official live, and FROM NOW ON. DAYDREAMING is a slower song but has a really nifty guitar solo.
Oh well. I am listing a couple of "amateurs". Stevie Ray Vaughan, Slash, Carlos Santana, Ritchie Blackmore, Gary Moore, Joe Satriani, just to name a few "hip". What's up doc? :DD
As a huge Band Maid fan myself, the fanboys elevate Kanami into a stratosphere. Truth is there are many metal guitarist with insane skills that Kanami has never demonstrated that skill level.. that being said she ALWAYS plays to the song and does not go showy. Note also that she composes the music and their music is good to the ears.
I see where you're coming from now that you explain but instead of gaslighting us and implying that somehow we are the ones making shit up, you should just be honest and admit that you did call her solo amateurish. I literally just watched that part again and that is all you said...zero additional context and nothing to suggest you meant what you said you meant in this video. It was directly after your friend said it sounded "basic". Considering the actual complexity of that solo (which maybe is not complex by your standards), you should not be surprised that calling her solo amateur level pissed a lot of people off. If you thought it was lacking, you should have just said that. That being said I still disagree with your further articulated opinion as well. As a guitar player as well, there is more to a guitar player's skill than simply shredding. As you said yourself, composition is even more important and the way she goes about creating different riffs/licks and how they kind of phrasing she uses to me stands up with some of the greatest out there. Are there session musicians out there with more technical skill? Absolutely, but there is more to being a great guitarist than that. However, I do not think this song shows this as well as it could. I would recommend From Now On as another instrumental. If you don't see it with that, then I don't know what to tell you.
We did love the song. It's just in the last reaction video that everyone in the comments is making it out to be she is better than any guitar player ever. That comes with a lot of scrutiny, and I hope she lives up to it. I'm sure she will be the number one guitar player on everyone's list coming soon.
@BeerNightYTshow As I said, they most likely mean this in terms of what I said in my comment: composition and phrasing. She is every bit as good as Carlos Santana and he is acknowledged universally as one of the greats.
Thanks for the reaction.Too many words ;-). Not really needed. Yes, bass and drums is what pulls you in. This is Japanese rock ... right. So, talking about it as rock or metal is just going to be always off. They kick ass ... so, if you like it, enjoy. If you don't, listen to something else.
Hey, that was a great reaction! I also thought you handled the criticism pretty well to, I enjoyed listening to Chris go into great detail there 😆. Akane (drums) and MISA (bass) are definitely very noticeable in the Band-Maid soundscape whereas Kanami (lead guitarist) is much more subtle. I personally enjoy her style quite much, since her way of composing makes the songs feel like a seamless whole. She is definitely not a power metal shred monster, which is fine. Chris is right about the deep cuts, Band-Maid often hide their best songs there, and they are also the more shreddy ones.
Kanami wants every member to shine. She doesn't want to stand out alone. But she shreds in this song "H-G-K" : ruclips.net/video/VAFq8-Xnf_8/видео.htmlsi=pQfdcGt5LynubNW1 If you like heavier songs, this newer album named "unseen world" includes many heavier and faster songs than their former albums.Their music style is soooooooooo versatile. That is why Kanami, the music composer of Band-Maid, is called a prodigy. Don't judge them by a couple of songs. Although it's not related to guitars, Jimmy Page visited BAND-MAID backstage and took a photo with drummer Akane. As for Kanami's guitar style, she gives the impression of being similar to Jimmy Page. It's very distinctive and the structure is completely different from other guitarists. In one word, it's structural. It's like a kaleidoscope. Because she is both a guitarist and the main composer. It's meaningless to say "I can finger tap too." Tapping is just one compositional material.
Kanami (th lead guitarrist) is the one who compose the 99% band-maid's songs, she is really technical, but, she don't like to be the star, also, she have killer solos like Alone or Hate
The only comment I have is that I feel head-bangers don't have as much an appreciation for melody and song composition as us old school rockers. I couldn't listen to the full 14-minute spiel. It's just not that important.
Guys, it's OK for not liking Band-Maid or Kanami for hers probably is not your taste. But wise enough not to call someone 'amateur' before you do research and set your bar.
The best guitarists don't play in bands. But Kanami is the guitarist she needs to be, but she is also the composer. She pours out new works for the band to play, and she does that without ego. She is a good guitarist, and she is a good composer, for a good band. It is worth listening to, and it will appeal to people. Not everyone, but enough people. And Akane is a solid drummer, and Misa is a solid bassist -- and the combination is great. Band-Maid is a team -- a great _team_.
Not gonna hate. I think you fundamentally misunderstand how Kanami composes. She doesn't play for speed or skill (which she can) just to show she can. Everything she plays is in service of the song. Kanami isn't going to compose or play a great guitar solo that doesn't work with the song. She also isn't going to compose her way into a song that exists solely to spotlight herself. You're not going to go see Steve Vai for the drums and base...you're there for Steve Vai's solos. In Kanami's style of composing, that result would be a failure because it doesn't make the band as a whole better.
So he's an amateur. Huh? Haha. Kanami Tono ... amateur? Hehehe.. Well, don't... Thank you for noticing how stupid the statement is. Kanami KNOWS. Very. Even if we set aside the bias, still. HEHE. Sorry. :DD
Yeah, the bass & drums are great, but there would be no music at all if it wasn't for that amateur guitar player who is also a classically trained piano player !! 😏❤️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘
Not impressed with the amateurish commentary at all. Laughable really with such a poor understanding of musical composition and how the individual segments contribute to the whole song. Band-Maid's songs are all finely crafted gems and fans of great impressive music really understand how exceptionally good these talented musicians are in live performance.
I don’t know why people would suggest Onset. I don’t think it’s one of the best examples of Kanamis playing abilities. Having said that, her abilities go way beyond guitar as she writes and composes all of Band Maids music and will often highlight the other members in the composition, and makes sure they get plenty of time in the spotlight. She’s usually pretty conservative in her solos and only does what fits the song rather than going off on a crazy tangent which she is definitely capable of doing. Watching you trolling and actually telling us what you think is better than most reactors who rave about how fantastic everything is just for likes and subscribers , that shits just annoying.
To be fair you're only two songs deep in the Band-Maid rabbit hole. If you venture down a bit further I'm sure you'll love what you hear. Also, I don't hate you guys I've seen rude reactors before and you're nowhere close.
Thanks so much for sharing! How about Rinne or Black hole is the next song? Their genre is band maid so it`s pointless to decide something. they never metal band.
It was ridiculous in the extreme to recommend this song, from 5-6 years ago, as an example of how good Kanami is now. And everyone’s forcing this guy into a corner over it still. I love her and she’s my favorite rock guitarist right now, but she’s not a virtuoso. As good as they all are none of them are virtuoso’s, honestly. What they have is, as a group, probably the most aggregate talent of any rock band out there. He makes my favorite point about Kanami… that the writing is very important. I’ll take Band Maid, and Kanami, for instance, over anything Malmsteen has done in a long time.
There's more to music than technical ability, and Kanami is seemingly endlessly creative and - above all - unfailingly tasteful in her musical choices. The comparison I would make is between her and her hero Carlos Santana (and also Dave Gilmour, although I'm not sure how she'd feel about that). Personally I'd gladly swop the super-shredders for players with restraint and humility and soul - Kanami is one of those!
I think the Japanese female guitarists who are really good are Li-sa-X of KOIAI and HAL-CA of ASTERISM. KOIAI - A New Picture ASTERISM 『DAWN』2019_04_20
I very much agree. I saw Asterism in NYC last summer and I was no more than 5 feet from Haruka as she played. She is as talented a guitarist as I have ever seen, and I saw Van Halen in 1979. I would also add the duo of Miyako and Midori of Lovebites. I saw them live at ProgPower in Atlanta. I can't imagine two other elite lead guitarists that can harmonize any better than those two.
I agree with this too. Although Lovebites is my #1 favorite band, I would still pick Li-sa-X and Hal-ca over Miyako and Midori. Here are some examples: Hal-ca (when age 16): ruclips.net/video/v6LJ6Dsvn-4/видео.html Li-sa-X (when age 17): ruclips.net/video/8HbA1aEUSsI/видео.html
Hey, you liked the song. And your opinion is fine. Band-Maid is a complete package as they are about what serves the song. No one really tries to stand out and they all allow each other to shine where it serves the song. That being said, as a Maidiac, I wouldn't use Onset as a shredding guitar song. And to be honest, Kanami's genius is not in shredding, although she can, but in the composition and her "feel" style of playing. She's a master of mixing and matching styles and transitions. Kanami once said in an interview, she tries to create music (solo's included) for anyone to be able to play. As she hopes many will play their songs. Keep rocking with the Maids, as you seem to like their music. Just keep an open mind and I think after you go through a bunch of songs, you will really start to see the genius and what makes this band so special. Just my 2 yen thought...take it for what it's worth. PO!🕊🤘😆🤘
THE best Hard Rock band on Earth. This is an old performance but still a great instrumental, though they've come far in the 6 years since this gig. Try HATE? live at Yokohama from 2023 or the MV for FROM NOW ON to see what they're like today.
What's more important than if you said Kanami was amateurish or not is what she said to me, "If two & two together is twenty two & three & three is thirty three, why isn't eleven onety one"? See that's important.🤔
@@Kevin6059 Hiya Kevin, i'm ok thx. I guess i could've commented "Kanami only plays what serves the song best, not that it has to have a million note noodle yawnfest" but i didn't. idk why.🤷♂️
There is no need to prove anything to anyone, as a whole they are great, Kanami has already proven her skill and mastery, And comments like amateurish just shows what you know or your clownishness, let's hope its not the latter. Everyone has their opinion and should be respected, i afford you yours my friend 🤟(sorry i didn't watch reaction)
The lead guitarist is also the main composer of their songs, and yea, MISA is the best bassist on the planet rn, and Akane is a gorilla on drums. Structurally, this song is very simple. Maybe try Giovanni instrumental or Without Holding Back instrumental. Also, Band-Maid is more trad melodic hard rock with pop punk roots. They are not either speed metal or math metal.
You need simply to listen to more. I kind of agree with you regarding onset. Drums and bass are phenomenal and guitar feels repetitive. Onset has never been my favorite song to show Kanami's skills. I know that many fans disagree and find onset being a masterpiece. That's their call. Personally I would listen to the instrumental MV "From now on" or "Without holding back". Or maybe the live versions of "Hate?" or "Manners and Black Hole". You also have to understand that part of the genius cult around Kanami is that she writes almost all music for BAND-MAID and its a lot and almost all is good.
Over the last 2 years Band-Maid has become my absolute favorite band, and Musicians as a whole, so much so that Misa and Akane got me to pick up the Bass and Drums respectively, cuz as noted, the rhythm section is rad as hell. I have to check my Bias though and will say I can agree with your points to an extent. Its a case of saying the right things the "wrong" way. I believe you know that Kanami is an excellent guitar player and were trying to say as much, but what she played in Onset, correctly said, isnt super impressive on a TECHNICAL level, and its true, Onset is not a showpiece for skill. Its an extremely well written MELODIC instrumental, as noted. Kanami is one of my Favorite guitarists not because she is the most TECHNICALLY skilled, but because as others have stated, she writes what the song needs, according to her. Someone else said the word humble and i agree. Not one member of Band-Maid will ever try to outshine the other, they play for the song, and the fans. That being said I DO believe Kanami absolutely CAN shred in a virtuoso manner I just dont think we will ever see it, Its just not in her nature to show off I think. With that, I appreciate you trying to clarify your position, even if it wasnt in the most eloquent manner lol, I get being in the defensive position and trying to say what you meant and not necessarily getting the words out, and dealing with obsessive fans who dont want to hear anything bad about the Maids can be annoying. Even I have to make myself take a step back sometimes and be like "Okay chill, he has a right to his own opinion" lol. Keep listening to them and youll surely find songs that vibe with what you want, their catalog is over 130 songs deep at this point. Kanamis most Technical skill show piece, in my opinion, is the MV for the Instrumental From Now On, as it focuses on her and her playing for the most part. No hate here, and ill sub just to keep on watching yalls Band-Maid journey. Keep on keepin on!
So if you're listening to "to be with you" from mr.big then you'll say that paul gilbert and billy sheehan = amateurs??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 You guys must be petrucci and myung in disguise 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
As a Maidiac, I’m so tired of Onset being the first reference video for Kanami’s playing. It’s lots of hammer-on. Kanami has lots of other more impressive solos. Why the hell do you guys (maidiacs) keep suggesting Onset? Get off the Onset wagon. Choose another song, guys. Kanami has so much more examples.
When people does get upset, you got to remeber that much of their fanbase was based around RUclips, and you will get some heat! The Maidiacs are very passionate just like many other fanbases. When it comes to Kanami's playing, she always tries to do things that serves the song. She hardly does overplay things. But if you ask musicians about Mincho, they are all over her, because she is a riffmaster and some songs she's all over the place. Even Music Is Win (1,8 million subs) did mention her in one of his videos. As the only female... besides Steve Ts sister! 😁 My favourite Tonò moments? First "Alone" (2016) her debut as a composer, so ofc she had to bring her A game. Then there's "Daydreaming" which is among her most beautiful ones. She brings out her Inner "Gilmour" and gives it just the emotion and desperation it needs. Next? "Choose me" or maybe "Puzzle"?. In "Puzzle" the solo isnt the most impressive. But what she does all over the song. A mayhem of lovely melody lines. "Blooming" is one of my favourite Band-maid songs. It's so complicated that it's hard to replicate live. Except the solos ofc. First she does a standard tap... then in the main she does some intricate pattern, which is slightly harder to replicate than it sounds. Just try. It's always enjoyable to see her trade with MISA, so I love the live version of "Hate?"
This is not a song I would recommend to show Kanamis' talent. It's mostly just basic. She was playing what was written. Different songs have different levels of talent shown. However you are coming off like an arrogant elitist .
Túl sok a "magyarázat". :) Ebből is látszik, hogy: Szar van a palacsintában. :D Too much "explanation". :) This also shows that: There is dirt in the pancake. :D
My two favorite bands ever are featured in this video. One is your t-shirt, the other Band-Maid!!!! Did you notice the foray into 5/4 time on this one? Quiz - what song off of Dark Side of the Moon also has some 5/4 time in it.... you get 100 points if you answer correctly the first time. Oh, one more thing - they have all improved since this video as they've never stopped trying to push the envelope. I'd be curious to know what you think of her playing in From Now On... Also, of course you know as a Pink Floyd that virtuosity on an instrument doesn't mean I want to listen to it more - not necessarily anyway. For example, I do really like Guthrie Govan but I'd rather listen to Gilmour. Kanami is a great guitarist now, but more than that sh'e's a super genius songwriter!! I know what you're saying, I guess is what I'm saying. You know what I'm saying?
You need to listen to the white room version of WITHOUT HOLDING BACK. or watch the live version of HATE? live from Yokohama Arena. She also writes all the music. Not everyone plays eight million notes a measure that mean nothing. I use Buckethead as an example. You'd probably prefer Lovebites.
If ABBA sang in Swedish they would certainly not have had the same success. The Warning sings in English and using it helps a lot. I like that Band Maid doesn't give in and continues singing basically in Japanese. Do you know any great Spanish singers? Julio Iglesias probably because he sang in English. Sabina? Serrat? You've never heard of them and I can tell you that they will never win a Grammy or anything similar. There are many "look what I can do" guitarists, great circus artists, and then there are musicians. Für Elise is a piece that all beginners usually learn on the piano, technically it doesn't seem like much, but it is an immortal work... that's what it is. I'm sorry if I don't appreciate your comments correctly and I'm wrong in my assessment, I don't speak English and I use the translator.
If these two guys allow themselves to call Kanami an amateur, which by the way is almost insulting, there must be some reasons. The first being that they are slightly or very misogynistic and nostalgic for the tough, bearded and leather bands from head to toe. And it must not please them to see that women do better or at least largely as well. While I am delighted. And then there must be jealousy because I do not think that any of them has a quarter of the talent of Kanami who is still a guitarist acclaimed all over the world with Band-Maid while I doubt that they have crossed the borders of their province. So a word of advice gentlemen: do not react to Lovebites, Nemophila, Hagane, KOIAI, Bridear, Rolling Quartz and I forget some otherwise you will find yourself facing a reality that will not please you. And I end by saying that I am an old man of 72 years old who saw all the great metal bands on stage when I was young and who considers Lovebites to be the best band and the best twin guitars in the history of metal. Evolve guys and avoid giving shameful qualifiers to musicians who are infinitely superior to you. Beware of headaches....
“do not react to Lovebites…” As a Lovebites fan myself, I disagree with this. Just because they preferred the drums and bass more than the guitars in Band-Maid, doesn’t mean they shouldn’t react to other Japanese bands. I would also prefer these more critical reactions, rather than those who just praise everything in order to boost their channel. For Lovebites, I would be interested in them reacting to ‘Solider Stands Solitarily’.
@@SomethingToDo360 If they react to other Japanese girl groups, let them at least do it with elegance without defaming anyone like for Kanami. What is their legitimacy to allow themselves this kind of thing? I have been following the various reactions concerning all the groups I mentioned for years (and others obviously because I like many styles of music) and this is the FIRST TIME I have seen reactionaries behave like this. Some do not like it, and that is their right, others say that it is lip-synching but never has one allowed himself to call a musician an amateur.
@@johnpaul4784 Their use of the word “amateur” was incorrect; however, they appear to have been expecting something more based on comments they read from fans (they had higher expectations), while their general underlining point was still correct, the one speaking to differences, insomuch as the standout for Band-Maid does appear to be Akane (as mentioned in their earlier video), while the next to come to mind is usually going to be Misa. This makes sense to me. There are some comments on their channel saying Kanami is actually the best in the world, which I think mainly happens because reactors are often too afraid of telling fans the truth (or because they just want views), furthering a community bubble, that isn’t at all based in reality. I don’t usually comment on Band-Maid videos, but I had to say that I want these guys to react to Lovebites, mainly BECAUSE they seem more honest, or at least more willing to share their own perspective on things.
@@SomethingToDo360 Let's say they react to Lovebites and that, unfortunately, their comment is as you so modestly say "incorrect", what do you say? If their preferences go to bass and drums, what will they say about the 2 geniuses M§M? If that were the case, I imagine the volley of green wood from the members of the Wolfpack (including me) who would be perfectly right. So I prefer that they avoid even if I have no advice to give them. Glad to have exchanged with you but as far as I'm concerned, I'll stop there. Have a nice day.
@@johnpaul4784 If they share something I disagree with, then I share my own perspective in return. Maybe they can convince me, or I can convince them. Agreement in itself however, shouldn’t be a requirement for reaction videos. Any disagreements simply get discussed, and hopefully in the end, result in us being closer to the truth, or at the very least, less inside our own bubble. Needless to say, I’m not the typical Wolfpack member. 😂 Besides Lovebites, I would be curious to see their reaction to ‘Dawn’ by Asterism, and ‘A New Picture’ by Koiai, with both bands having amazing guitarists.
Thanks for your reaction but I don't get who are pro guitar players for you if you say Kanami is amateur. If you can play guitar, try these songs with one of the best guitar shredders in Japan. A great guitarist plays the notes that fits the song. Not the notes that impresses amateurs. She also composes every part of every song . That said I'm not hating on your comments. I totally agree that the bassist and drummer are very talented as well. I also liked and subscribed.
I kinda get what you mean. They are talented no doubt & had some good songs. The bassist (Misa) stood out for me too. But I honestly think the benchmark that has been set by the great, previous rock bands is already very high. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen etc, not even the most talented rock band today, can surpass what they have accomplished. Having said that, Band-Maid are still young. I believe they'll have many more years & wish them well!
@warrenbubbles9028 check out Fallen Hero on Spotify. The album is called through the devils looking glass. Plus, the opening song in this video is his song.
Actually Kanami crafts her solos to fit the song and doesn't do it to impress. But if you want to see some of her virtuosity, check out Without Holding Back. Not available on their official channel but it is on Instrumental Maid. ruclips.net/video/ygdZLBRy1uE/видео.htmlsi=203gaVoXvLddPYY3
It's ok you don't like Kanami, maybe it is more of a metal sound you like, Band Maid is more of a rock band. Kanami writes most all the music, including the drums and the bass parts... its ok, you like what you like, just ironic that's all,lol...
No. The bass and drum parts are all MISA and Akane's creation. Mincho includes bass and drum tracks in her initial demos, but then Bedora writes whatever they think is best for the songs. Mincho will even make alterations to songs at Kobato or Saiki's suggestion. Mincho serves the music, not the other way round.
@@oldschoolsa This is a weird description (what is "Bedora?"). To my knowledge, Kanami early on wrote most everything. Some things have changed over time (such as Misa taking over the bass writing), but one thing hasn't: the band has always worked from within a song already created by Kanami. Early interviews are funny when Akane complains about Kanami's drum compositions requiring three hands to play. Recent interviews are different, as I think it was during an Unseen World interview that Akane said of a particular song that she made few changes because the drums were already written "perfectly." Relatively recently (last 3 years or so I'd guess), Misa has been writing the bulk of the bass parts; her bass writing is brilliant, but she does so within an already-created song after learning what Kanami is looking for. It's more accurate to say that Misa and the other members "serve the music," whereas Kanami creates it.
@drogonr9318 What is Bedora? You'll have to ask MISA. That's how she referred to herself and Akane in her latest letter to the Omeisyusama. Mincho is the band's composer, but the songs they serve us are the band's creations, not hers alone. BAND-MAID's songs are the product of BAND-MAID. No Mincho, no BAND-MAID. No MISA, no BAND-MAID. No Akane, no BAND-MAID. No Kobato, no BAND-MAID. No Saiki, no BAND-MAID. Mincho isn't a drummer and is more than smart enough to know to stay in her lane. She doesn't hand Akane drumlines, she tells her what she has in mind for the song and Akane writes her parts to help Mincho fulfill her vision.
If you liked that they have sooooo much more! Heavy, Light, Instrumentals etc... This is Mild for BAND-MAID. If you want to see a real virtuoso instrumental check out 'Without Holding Back'.
You two of bold men seem to be talking about Mincho’s guitar by looking from above, but what do you know about her musicality? She’s the main music composer, arranger, and director of the band’s music. Maybe you should not talk about BM in the same way you do about “metal” you usually listen to or you have listened to so far.
idk why everyone’s acting like the fans are mad just because he doesn’t like it it’s fine music is subjective not everyone’s gonna like the same thing (which is a good thing) but let’s not downplay or talk down on talented artist just because we personally don’t enjoy it.
@Youmakesickkkkkk 💯 we are definitely not being disrespectful. We are just hearing from the fans that this is the number 1 band EVER! GOAT guitar player. Greatest song writer of all time. Better than the Beatles and pink Floyd. How about we calm that down a little bit.
What can be said. I recall when critics thought The Doors and Yes were rubbish due to not playing similar to Black Sabbath! The difference between the three bands was lost upon them.

Good reaction. The operative part of your reaction is that you liked the song. Reactions are opinions and if everyone's opinion was the same there would not be such a variety of bands and music. I have an idea that you are correct that a lot of the comments were made on cherry picked parts of the reaction.
Thanks for nice reaction and for support the Band Maid. However, If you like strictly metal music, there is another fantastic all -female Japanese band called Lovebites, five ladies extremely talented and skillful. I suggest you take a look at their YT channel where you will find all the videos you want, even the very recent ones (I recommend "Soldier stands solitarily" LIVE). Personally I am a fan of both Band Maid and Lovebites, according to their different musical genre
My two cents: I think you two AND the Maidiacs (of which I'm one) are making a big deal out of nothing. Band-Maid's lead guitarist, Kanami Tono, is also the primary songwriter who composes the basic song, then gives it to the bassist and drummer for their input/additions. She writes the songs with guitar parts in mind only that she feels the song needs and is quite humble. She would probably be mortified by the fuss y'all are making. You probably should move along and try a female Japanese band that actually call themselves a heavy metal band, and that's Lovebites. Watch yourselves some "Break the Wall" from their 2020 show at Zepp DiverCity or "Soldier Stands Solitarily" from their Memorial for Warrior Souls show in 2023 and try to say that the dual leads are "amateurish". You can thank me later.
In my opinion Kanami is not a virtuoso guitarist, but she is not an amateur either... she could easily kick the ass of legends like Angus Young, Joe Perry or Slash (in their prime)... or do you also consider them amateurs? if so we are on different pages. Anyway I'm not going to waste any more time advocating for Kanami, there are enough "maidiacs" who can do it. I prefer to shed light on other Japanese female guitarists on the more metal side, such as: NEMOPHILA, "Seize the Fate": ruclips.net/video/yyKGK1Se4bo/видео.htmlsi=fmQPZ_KVKxsGcjnT ASTERISM, "Down": ruclips.net/video/buQPvINJcA0/видео.htmlsi=YjafGvRVUwYNDUDm KOIAI, "A New Picture": ruclips.net/video/rX6SP5bQZH8/видео.htmlsi=n3ZJKhIvnOyQMVRW LOVEBITES, "Holy War": ruclips.net/video/bgAxpEpEcno/видео.htmlsi=6zZCvbpml7vfbldl SAKURA YOSHIDA, "Zan Tetsuken": ruclips.net/video/9SkfDPwiRaU/видео.htmlsi=ZyErOMgukspolqKE
BAND-MAID isn't a metal band and Kanami doesn't write ultra long, shreddy solos. It's just not her style. If that's all you respect, then just move on to Lovebites. They will give what you are looking for. Shredding galore.
Totally right big guy, kanami is not the most technical of players, its her compositions, feel for playing and not overplaying, she is also a guitarist that has her own style which you can instantly recognise. This puts her into a very special category of guitar players. 🤘🤘
From Japan
All members of BAND-MAID prioritize making a song better than standing out.
One piece of mini-knowledge: KANAMI (lead guitarist and main composer) is one of only two PRS-certified guitarists in Japan.
A lot of guitar players can play her music, but very few can write it then get up and play it live on stage and sound the same as the album
There are many experienced amateurs who can copy this lead guitar. Kanami's true talent lies in the way she connects a wide variety of riffs in the background of Saiki's singing, and the fact that she composes them herself. Some people call her a "riff machine."
Kanami, the guitarist, is the one who composes all of BAND-MAID's songs. Her priority is the music as a whole, she "serve the song"
The more you talk the worse you sound- We just love it.
Onset is not a great example. Kanami has many more solos that show her skill.
Kanami is a feel player and has her distinctive style. She's no amateur but not the best either imo. She definitely has a completely different set of mind and sees music as a whole.
Kanami is amateur for him, because Kanami slaps his ego with her PRS Guitar COLLECTION # 088 Private Stock Custom Made.🤘
Band Maid comes to the stage with a completely different mindset than every other group that I’m aware of.
She is a composer and a main arranger. She wrote more than 100 great songs. Her first song "Alone" has a great guitar solo.
Fair opinion, kanami has more writing credits than Paul McCartney, last i checked it was 92
Band maid are a hard rock band that focuses on the song, not virtuoso guitar playing.
Thanx...sorry i came to the wrong place...😢
No worries!
I for one don't need to listen to someone who is only interested in trolling those who come to this channel. Goodbye from me, I won't be back!
But she shreds in this song "H-G-K" : ruclips.net/video/VAFq8-Xnf_8/видео.htmlsi=pQfdcGt5LynubNW1
If you like heavier songs, this newer album named "unseen world" includes many heavier and faster songs than their former albums.Their music style is soooooooooo versatile. That is why Kanami, the music composer of Band-Maid, is called a prodigy. Don't judge them by a couple of songs.
If you move on to LoveBites, I suggest

Although it's not related to guitars, Jimmy Page visited BAND-MAID backstage and took a photo with drummer Akane.
As for Kanami's guitar style, she gives the impression of being similar to Jimmy Page.
It's very distinctive and the structure is completely different from other guitarists. In one word, it's structural.
It's like a kaleidoscope.
Because she is both a guitarist and the main composer.
It's meaningless to say "I can finger tap too."
Tapping is just one compositional material.
...and then you listen to "From Now On" and then the rest...
It was a song, not a job interview. What a weird reaction.
A reaction you never seen before.
Who are you? If your opening music was you playing...sit down.
Savage af 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
We are just 2 bald guys who love music, epically heavy metal.
Kanami has a wide variety of skills. She can click tone, groove, and play complex jazz-like tension chords that metal guitarists cannot play.
Kanami doesn't shred to show off. She composes her parts to serve the song.
HEHE. Sorry. :DD
Kanami Tōno..Most impressive musician of the 21st Century..Amateurish? 🙈 Bye Bye..
Bye
Yeah, the bass & drums are great, but there would be no music at all if it wasn't for that amateur guitar player who is also a classically trained piano player !!
😏❤️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘
After hating on her you say not hating on her. Don't watch. She also writes and composes. It's fine. They don't need you
Not impressed with the amateurish commentary at all. Laughable really with such a poor understanding of musical composition and how the individual segments contribute to the whole song. Band-Maid's songs are all finely crafted gems and fans of great impressive music really understand how exceptionally good these talented musicians are in live performance.
Funny this comment section. He is spot on. The bassist and drummer are by far the best.
@austinj3881 finally someone with some sense
@boomboom418 thanks! We will definitely listen to more either on our own time or another reaction here.
Thanks so much for sharing!
How about Rinne or Black hole is the next song?
Their genre is band maid so it`s pointless to decide something. they never metal band.
Check out FROM NOW ON. If you dare. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
JMATAB! 🍺😎🤘🏻🕊️
@@RogerChance5309 Yo Roger. JMATAB! 😎🔥🎵
@@interstellardave since odyssey which was way back in 1988 or was it 89 🤘🤘
There's more to music than technical ability, and Kanami is seemingly endlessly creative and - above all - unfailingly tasteful in her musical choices.
KOIAI - A New Picture
ASTERISM 『DAWN』2019_04_20
I very much agree. I saw Asterism in NYC last summer and I was no more than 5 feet from Haruka as she played. She is as talented a guitarist as I have ever seen, and I saw Van Halen in 1979.
I would also add the duo of Miyako and Midori of Lovebites. I saw them live at ProgPower in Atlanta. I can't imagine two other elite lead guitarists that can harmonize any better than those two.
I agree with this too. Although Lovebites is my #1 favorite band, I would still pick Li-sa-X and Hal-ca over Miyako and Midori. Here are some examples:
Hal-ca (when age 16): ruclips.net/video/v6LJ6Dsvn-4/видео.html
Li-sa-X (when age 17): ruclips.net/video/8HbA1aEUSsI/видео.html
🍺🙄
Hey, what's shaking Gary. We missed you, dude. Even if your comment just doesn't add up.
@@RogerChance5309 You missed me really.🤭

Onset is my favourite instrumental but not because of the technicality.
The best live rock band on the planet. Bye, Felicia...we are done here.
Too many words, It would have just suffice to say " I liked it"
So if you're listening to "to be with you" from mr.big then you'll say that paul gilbert and billy sheehan = amateurs??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You guys must be petrucci and myung in disguise 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
As a Maidiac, I’m so tired of Onset being the first reference video for Kanami’s playing. It’s lots of hammer-on. Kanami has lots of other more impressive solos. Why the hell do you guys (maidiacs) keep suggesting Onset? Get off the Onset wagon. Choose another song, guys. Kanami has so much more examples.
I feel the same about "Freedom".
My favourite Tonò moments?
@@tedwatson1743 but I thought every song is gold. She is better than any musician before her. Nobody can touch her talent.
Túl sok a "magyarázat". :)
Ebből is látszik, hogy: Szar van a palacsintában. :D
Too much "explanation". :)
This also shows that: There is dirt in the pancake. :D
Five thumbs up for the Maids 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
The Studio version was never Officially released other than as a bonus on a DVD release.
Onset it just a warm up... do the MV for 'From Now On' .... and then just stum a few bars to demonstrate for us :)
“do not react to Lovebites…”
As a Lovebites fan myself, I disagree with this.
Besides Lovebites, I would be curious to see their reaction to ‘Dawn’ by Asterism, and ‘A New Picture’ by Koiai, with both bands having amazing guitarists.
Thanks for your reaction but I don't get who are pro guitar players for you if you say Kanami is amateur.
If you can play guitar, try these songs with one of the best guitar shredders in Japan.
I would like to know how good or bad these guitar players are for you on your coming reaction videos.

Well, don't. Have you heard one(!) thing from them and decide? They.
I recommend: Listen to ALL of their instrumental tracks and then judge! :D
A great guitarist plays the notes that fits the song. Not the notes that impresses amateurs. She also composes every part of every song . That said I'm not hating on your comments. I totally agree that the bassist and drummer are very talented as well. I also liked and subscribed.

No virtuosity in the guitar playing? Damn you have a really high bar.
@iqbalmuhammad2920 exactly 💯 Band-Maid is a good band, and they have a lot more years to go. But some people on her think they are already legends.
Let’s see Mr guitar play a song for us. Maybe play onset?
@warrenbubbles9028 check out Fallen Hero on Spotify. The album is called through the devils looking glass. Plus, the opening song in this video is his song.
Actually Kanami crafts her solos to fit the song and doesn't do it to impress. But if you want to see some of her virtuosity, check out Without Holding Back. Not available on their official channel but it is on Instrumental Maid.

FROM NOW ON is the instrumental you really should check out
say what you have to say....its your opinion👌👌🤘🤘
Thank you for your reaction. I suggest the MV for the song Blooming. Have fun! :)
If you liked that they have sooooo much more! Heavy, Light, Instrumentals etc... This is Mild for BAND-MAID. If you want to see a real virtuoso instrumental check out 'Without Holding Back'.
Even better bass
You two of bold men seem to be talking about Mincho’s guitar by looking from above, but what do you know about her musicality? She’s the main music composer, arranger, and director of the band’s music. Maybe you should not talk about BM in the same way you do about “metal” you usually listen to or you have listened to so far.
idk why everyone’s acting like the fans are mad just because he doesn’t like it it’s fine music is subjective not everyone’s gonna like the same thing (which is a good thing) but let’s not downplay or talk down on talented artist just because we personally don’t enjoy it.
Ur allowed to have an opinion but when that opinion starts becoming just disrespectful then THATS THE ISSUE 😂
He did like it.
What can be said. I recall when critics thought The Doors and Yes were rubbish due to not playing similar to Black Sabbath! The difference between the three bands was lost upon them.

@@BeerNightYTshow If you react to Lovebites, go with the song ‘Solider Stands Solitarily’
Good reaction. The operative part of your reaction is that you liked the song. Reactions are opinions and if everyone's opinion was the same there would not be such a variety of bands and music. I have an idea that you are correct that a lot of the comments were made on cherry picked parts of the reaction.
Thanks for reacting Band-Maid again. Yeah, the bassist and drummer both are sick, as well as the other three members.
Good advice. Lovebites is metal.
Kanami is the shyest and humblest person you can imagine. Your observation regarding all the fuzz is probably spot on.
@@rolandkarlsson7072 You forgot sweetest! 👍
@@daveminers3404 Yeah, she takes many hearts, even mine.
I prefer to shed light on other Japanese female guitarists on the more metal side, such as:
