Why are they not more popular? Because western radio channels will almost never air none english music. But they are a LOT more known internationally now than they used to be. They have toured the west multiple times, won some awards in the west, and gained major popularity online. They were about to play the largest venue in Japan just before covid hit and canceled it- but since then have released an amazing new album and more great songs! So im positive they will only get more and more well known.
Band-Maid has dozens more songs like this. "The Gap" worked well again. More than 100 song catalog over 8 years together. You won't find a better Hard Rock band out there today that will engage and assault you at the same time. Spread the word… Band Maid is the real deal. Wait until you see “Blooming”… in some aspects one of their most amazing compositions. There’s no official live video but the MV is great. I’d also recommend the dual video of “Manners” & “Black Hole” live… 2 very different songs from their newest album. One is a rock anthem, the other a prog-rock gem!
Another vote for Blooming! But frankly Manners sounds better in their MV than the live version where it is combined with Black Hole. Manners is my favorite by far, and Blooming is my second choice.

Hey guys, in 2019 the maids did a 5 sold-out concerts in 3 US cities...2 night in NYC,, 1 night in Dalls, and 2 nights in LA...I personally attended both shows in NYC and they were amazing on stage...keep doing more Band-Maid..I suggest the following "Play", " Moritorium", "Dice", "Domination", "Yolo","Different","Wonderland","Manners","Warning","No God","Blackhole", or any of their videos on their RUclips channel or any (and I mean any) of their songs on streaming services...you will not regret it.....thanks - Peace and Respect from 🇨🇦

🤘on the reaction. "Thrill" was my introduction to BAND-MAID. RUclips kept suggesting it and I thought "Maids? Really RUclips? Go home you're drunk" well RUclips insisted so I clicked. WTF? Not what I expected, I checked out a few other songs then went on my way pursuing Nightwish's music at the time. A few months later RUclips suggested "onset", it had just been uploaded. I thought "Oh, yeah they are cool" so I watched it. Same reaction as you three. I immediately listened to everything I could find and have been a fan ever since. To get a pretty good feel for what BAND-MAID can do I would suggest the double song live video of "Manners" and "BLACK HOLE" on their official channel. Manners is a bluesy "classic rock" style song with BAND-MAID spice. It is amongst my all time favorite rock songs. "BLACK HOLE" is a 220 bpm sonic instrumentation assault and vocal goodness with layers of harmonies and counter melodies. "BLACK HOLE" was my favorite BAND-MAID song until their song "Corallium" from their new single "Sense" nudged it from the #1 spot. The three songs in the single are bangers! I have listened to their catalog of music many tines, and there is not one song that I would skip. All their songs range from good to "HOLY SH*T what just happened"?
So Onset was created to showcase each of the ladies talents on their instruments. That's why each and every one of them has a spotlight mark of them. The versatility of this band is absolutely astounding. Check out Manners/Black Hole. You go from hard bluesy rock to just melt your face organized chaos. You want a ballad? Day Dreaming. And their newest video out, Catharsis acoustic. No frills, no costumes, just the ladies playing acoustic and killing it.
Really cool reaction! YES, Band-Maid is different, because they are making music that is missing these days. They don´t care about genres, you can find Jazz, Punk, Rock, Metal, Blues and Pop in their music and Kanami (lead guitar) is a songwriting GENIUS! They work together as a unit, they are really close friends, loving their community and fans, are AWESOME characters and for me personally if you consider ALL points that makes a band GREAT, they are the best rockband out there. Chemistry, Workrate, Musicianship, Showmanship and LYRICS! I don´t speak japanese, i am learning this language just because of them, because the lyrics are totally worth it! They have 120+ songs in their catalogue after round about 8 years and there are no songs that are boring or not good, every single song is at least very good! And some songs have so many changes, different riffs, ideas and creativity in it, other bands would be lazy and would create 3-4 songs out of it, not Band-Maid, they mash it into ONE song and it sounds AMAZING! They've toured worldwide including the US. They had signed with Live Nation for an even bigger tour when Covid hit. So instead of touring they released even more music that's more progressive, faster and harder than ever. You're gonna get a ton of suggestions and they're all great. But Domination Live is one of their best live videos. Their latest MV is for "Sense" which is beyond awesome (and not even one of their top ten songs). I heartedly recommend "Manners/Black Hole" live, a 2-in-1 live video that shows both sides of Band-Maid. They also go hard in the "Warning" mv. Just don't wait too long because they keep coming out with new music. And you can sure bet they will be coming back to the US and elsewhere around the world as soon as they can.

Great reaction guys! Band-Maid has a never-ending supply of kick ass songs, Onset is just one of many. Their hottest release at the moment is their newest single "Sense". A very popular song and for good reasons, because it is major kick ass. Oh, the "Sense" single has two B-sides, Hibana and Corellium. The reason why I mention that, is because they are arguably even more amazing. Band-Maid has no throwaway songs.
gladly for us in the state, band-maid already announce their u.s tour in 2022... so this is a gift for us who miss a live concert back in the day before pandemic hits in.
There are fans traveling to overseas just to check their live, they've done world tour, some US fans traveled interstates to see many shows...so there are still hardcore music lovers. They rejuvenated my love for modern music. Music is not dead.
I know I sound like a broken record, but Miku has become an excellent rhythm guitarist and it's like they have a mind link.......or mind meld, lol, where she is just playing the hell out of her parts in connection with the rest of the band. And the fact that she had never picked up a guitar before forming the band makes it even more special. She had an amazing teacher in Kanami, who is.................well.........just amazing. I had heard when I first started following them that Miku played the violin previously. If it's true, I think that gave her an insight on how she could use her pervious experience to help her on guitar, as she seems to never miss her spots.
Many reccomend live version of Domination, Freedom and Play as taste what they can do live and I totaly agree. There you can see how skilled they truly are. Tbh BAND-MAID is one of the best things who hapened to me in years. Suddenly I start to belive in good music again!

I really enjoyed your reaction. Your right, this band should be more well known. They are great musicians who are dedicated and passionate. They love their fans and you can see and feel it during their live performances. So many songs to choose from, but I recommend Domination live from the World Domination tour 2020. My college soundtrack was the great late 70's fusion bands. They were far beyond most rock bands in skill, creativity, and energy. Band-Maid are one of the few bands since that era that can go toe-to-toe with those groups. Thanks for coming back to them and going for it.
There is a reason this band has the following it does, and you've just found out why that is. They are stellar musicians, composers, and performers. In my opinion they are one of the best hard rock bands on the planet. Domination - Live would be a great next step in the Band Maid journey!

Tip of the iceberg guys! You will be blown away time after time by these serious musicians. They are very diverse, jazz, punk, funk, blues, grunge, instrumentals and some gorgeous heartfelt power ballads! Try Daydreaming, About Us, Play, Rinne, Real Existence ..... damn, too many to mention, just watch them all. At 67 years of age, I have always found with even my most favourite artists, usually at least 1 or 2 songs on most albums that i wasn't impressed with. I saw them live twice on their 2022 US Tour, once in NYC and once in New Jersey and they were on FIRE. The did onset at both shows and it was amazing to hear it live. Of course you don't get the polished feel of the live video, but it was exactly the same live as on the video.

I agree with all of the above. And the scuttlebutt is that there will be 2022 US tour, nothing is set yet as far as dates and venues are concerned, but who knows what's going to happen.
Also, there is the song called "Play" that follows this at this same concert... Actually the song "Play" was originally their onset... But Saiki (lead singer) liked it so much she convinced Miku (rhythm guitar) to put words to it because she wanted to sing it. So, the original onset became the song called "Play"... so Kanami (lead guitar) composed this to be their new onset.

Sadly, this track is one of only two or three not on Spotify. There is a studio version, but it was a bonus track on one of their single releases. It's great, but there is something magical about the live version.

As so many have already said on this channel, you do not know what kind of trapdoor you have opened under your feet! My suggestion for your next reaction would be the LIVE version of DOMINATION to give you guys a real good feel for all 5 members' awesome stage presence and crowd interaction in a large venue. The LIVE version of PLAY is great for the great call and response between the bass and guitars as well as between the two vocalists.
FYI, since the pandemic hit, Band-Maid has been pretty regularly streaming live no-audience shows from Tokyo that you can watch in real time. They're a bit early in the AM in your time zone, but you guys are probably at the age where you'd be up that late anyway. It's not a perfect substitute for being there, but in the current environment we have to take what we can get.
I won’t even bother singing their praises as we all know that you guys will be spending the better part of a couple of months going through their catalog and will not find one single average song , don’t ask for suggestions just pick any song and you’re good to go , best rock band in the world .
In a way - all their songs are like this. When you pay attention to any of their songs, even the instruments "not being featured" (I hate to call them 'background') are still doing very technical things. There is never any lazy playing in their songs (which since their 2nd or 3rd album they write themselves, by the way). Of the 439 best things about Band-Maid is that their music is easily appreciated by the layperson, but it is also appreciated by musicians. And I agree - one of my first reactions was (and still is) "Why are they not more popular!?!" Which is why I've annoyed everyone I know trying to get them to listen hehe. I believe that each of these women would be the featured artist in whatever band they were in separately. Thankfully they are all in one. Each is a stand-out, and there are NO egos! Whatever the song needs - that's the instrument(s) that are featured.
Great reaction. The girls popularity to the general population is often a topic of discussion amongst the fans. Some say it is the fact they sing in Japanese, personally I believe it is the simple fact that there is no profit in it for radio stations, they will only play what they are paid to play. Many fans have sent request in to radio staions on dedicated request shows and no Band Maid song has been played, I would imagine every request is vetted first to ensure it comples with the record companies list of songs allowed. I hope you continue to react to Band Maid and I would suggest 'Warning' official music video next for you. It is the lead track off their latest album 'Unseen World' Keep rocking !!

They have tons of hits, and almost no duds.

It's a love song to their fans about having to cancel live tours because of Covid restrictions. The band included the song during their live stream video. This is not just freestyle jamming. Kanami composed it I believe, and Akane on drums really sets the tone, along with Misa on bass and Miku just amazes every time we see her as she has advanced her technique and has become quite a good guitarist.
Its kinda sad...2020 they were poised to Dominate the World Rock Scene with their World Tour.... So we are all on hold to see if World Wide Touring will ever fully recover. 🤘on the reaction. "Thrill" was my introduction to BAND-MAID. RUclips kept suggesting it and I thought "Maids? Really RUclips? Go home you're drunk" well RUclips insisted so I clicked. WTF? Not what I expected, I checked out a few other songs then went on my way pursuing Nightwish's music at the time. A few months later RUclips suggested "onset", it had just been uploaded. I thought "Oh, yeah they are cool" so I watched it. Same reaction as you three. I immediately listened to everything I could find and have been a fan ever since.
To get a pretty good feel for what BAND-MAID can do I would suggest the double song live video of "Manners" and "BLACK HOLE" on their official channel. Manners is a bluesy "classic rock" style song with BAND-MAID spice. It is amongst my all time favorite rock songs. "BLACK HOLE" is a 220 bpm sonic instrumentation assault and vocal goodness with layers of harmonies and counter melodies. "BLACK HOLE" was my favorite BAND-MAID song until their song "Corallium" from their new single "Sense" nudged it from the #1 spot. The three songs in the single are bangers!
I have listened to their catalog of music many tines, and there is not one song that I would skip. All their songs range from good to "HOLY SH*T what just happened"?

Really cool reaction! YES, Band-Maid is different, because they are making music that is missing these days. They don´t care about genres, you can find Jazz, Punk, Rock, Metal, Blues and Pop in their music and Kanami (lead guitar) is a songwriting GENIUS! They work together as a unit, they are really close friends, loving their community and fans, are AWESOME characters and for me personally if you consider ALL points that makes a band GREAT, they are the best rockband out there. Chemistry, Workrate, Musicianship, Showmanship and LYRICS! I don´t speak japanese, i am learning this language just because of them, because the lyrics are totally worth it! They have 120+ songs in their catalogue after round about 8 years and there are no songs that are boring or not good, every single song is at least very good! And some songs have so many changes, different riffs, ideas and creativity in it, other bands would be lazy and would create 3-4 songs out of it, not Band-Maid, they mash it into ONE song and it sounds AMAZING! This really is an incredible piece of music. Great reaction, it's clear that you respect and admire these amazing musicians.
They've toured worldwide including the US. They had signed with Live Nation for an even bigger tour when Covid hit. So instead of touring they released even more music that's more progressive, faster and harder than ever. You're gonna get a ton of suggestions and they're all great. But Domination Live is one of their best live videos. Their latest MV is for "Sense" which is beyond awesome (and not even one of their top ten songs). I heartedly recommend "Manners/Black Hole" live, a 2-in-1 live video that shows both sides of Band-Maid. They also go hard in the "Warning" mv. Just don't wait too long because they keep coming out with new music. And you can sure bet they will be coming back to the US and elsewhere around the world as soon as they can.

Great reaction guys! Band-Maid has a never-ending supply of kick ass songs, Onset is just one of many. Their hottest release at the moment is their newest single "Sense". A very popular song and for good reasons, because it is major kick ass. Oh, the "Sense" single has two B-sides, Hibana and Corellium. The reason why I mention that, is because they are arguably even more amazing. Band-Maid has no throwaway songs.
gladly for us in the state, band-maid already announce their u.s tour in 2022... so this is a gift for us who miss a live concert back in the day before pandemic hits in.
There are fans traveling to overseas just to check their live, they've done world tour, some US fans traveled interstates to see many shows...so there are still hardcore music lovers. They rejuvenated my love for modern music. Music is not dead.
I know I sound like a broken record, but Miku has become an excellent rhythm guitarist and it's like they have a mind link.......or mind meld, lol, where she is just playing the hell out of her parts in connection with the rest of the band. And the fact that she had never picked up a guitar before forming the band makes it even more special. She had an amazing teacher in Kanami, who is.................well.........just amazing. I had heard when I first started following them that Miku played the violin previously. If it's true, I think that gave her an insight on how she could use her pervious experience to help her on guitar, as she seems to never miss her spots.
Many reccomend live version of Domination, Freedom and Play as taste what they can do live and I totaly agree. There you can see how skilled they truly are. Tbh BAND-MAID is one of the best things who hapened to me in years. Suddenly I start to belive in good music again!

I really enjoyed your reaction. Your right, this band should be more well known. They are great musicians who are dedicated and passionate. They love their fans and you can see and feel it during their live performances. So many songs to choose from, but I recommend Domination live from the World Domination tour 2020. My college soundtrack was the great late 70's fusion bands. They were far beyond most rock bands in skill, creativity, and energy. Band-Maid are one of the few bands since that era that can go toe-to-toe with those groups. Thanks for coming back to them and going for it.
There is a reason this band has the following it does, and you've just found out why that is. They are stellar musicians, composers, and performers. In my opinion they are one of the best hard rock bands on the planet. Domination - Live would be a great next step in the Band Maid journey!

Tip of the iceberg guys! You will be blown away time after time by these serious musicians. They are very diverse, jazz, punk, funk, blues, grunge, instrumentals and some gorgeous heartfelt power ballads! Try Daydreaming, About Us, Play, Rinne, Real Existence ..... damn, too many to mention, just watch them all. At 67 years of age, I have always found with even my most favourite artists, usually at least 1 or 2 songs on most albums that i wasn't impressed with. I have yet to find a song from these ladies that does not speak to me!

I saw them live twice on their 2022 US Tour, once in NYC and once in New Jersey and they were on FIRE. The did onset at both shows and it was amazing to hear it live. Of course you don't get the polished feel of the live video, but it was exactly the same live as on the video.

I agree with all of the above. And the scuttlebutt is that there will be 2022 US tour, nothing is set yet as far as dates and venues are concerned, but who knows what's going to happen.
Also, there is the song called "Play" that follows this at this same concert... Actually the song "Play" was originally their onset... But Saiki (lead singer) liked it so much she convinced Miku (rhythm guitar) to put words to it because she wanted to sing it. So, the original onset became the song called "Play"... so Kanami (lead guitar) composed this to be their new onset.

Sadly, this track is one of only two or three not on Spotify. There is a studio version, but it was a bonus track on one of their single releases. It's great, but there is something magical about the live version.

The Maids have straight-up stated many times that their goal is "World Domination," and while the pandemic hit pause on that (sadly - I only discovered them in mid-2020, so I too have yet to see them live) it's nice to see videos like this one give hope that that goal is still very possible! I have a marked advantage to have lived loooong in Japan and being brought up on a diet of Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher, Pink Floyd, Janis Joplin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin, Santana, Fleetwood Mac, Jefferson Airplane,... and true and honest I feel reborn thanks to to five tiny (from 5' 2" to 5' 7" tall) ladies (they are not girls, in spite of their incredible young looks)!
I am certainly ready to share my passion for them with you all, but know you are slipping down a steep iceberg into a bottomless ocean of bliss!

Great reaction. Just the tip of the iceberg for Band-Maid. My suggestion for your next reaction would be the LIVE version of DOMINATION to give you guys a real good feel for all 5 members' awesome stage presence and crowd interaction in a large venue. The LIVE version of PLAY is great for the great call and response between the bass and guitars as well as between the two vocalists.
FYI, since the pandemic hit, Band-Maid has been pretty regularly streaming live no-audience shows from Tokyo that you can watch in real time. They're a bit early in the AM in your time zone, but you guys are probably at the age where you'd be up that late anyway. It's not a perfect substitute for being there, but in the current environment we have to take what we can get.

I won’t even bother singing their praises as we all know that you guys will be spending the better part of a couple of months going through their catalog and will not find one single average song , don’t ask for suggestions just pick any song and you’re good to go , best rock band in the world .
In a way - all their songs are like this. When you pay attention to any of their songs, even the instruments "not being featured" (I hate to call them 'background') are still doing very technical things. There is never any lazy playing in their songs (which since their 2nd or 3rd album they write themselves, by the way). Of the 439 best things about Band-Maid is that their music is easily appreciated by the layperson, but it is also appreciated by musicians. And I agree - one of my first reactions was (and still is) "Why are they not more popular!?!" Which is why I've annoyed everyone I know trying to get them to listen hehe.
I believe that each of these women would be the featured artist in whatever band they were in separately. Thankfully they are all in one. Each is a stand-out, and there are NO egos! Whatever the song needs - that's the instrument(s) that are featured.
Great reaction. The girls popularity to the general population is often a topic of discussion amongst the fans. Some say it is the fact they sing in Japanese, personally I believe it is the simple fact that there is no profit in it for radio stations, they will only play what they are paid to play. Many fans have sent request in to radio staions on dedicated request shows and no Band Maid song has been played, I would imagine every request is vetted first to ensure it comples with the record companies list of songs allowed. I hope you continue to react to Band Maid and I would suggest 'Warning' official music video next for you. It is the lead track off their latest album 'Unseen World' Keep rocking !!

Guys, you it seems all of you are hard rockers. "Manners" is a really good video, but one video you should listen to, is "About US". It's a love song to their fans about having to cancel live tours because of Covid restrictions. The band included the song during their live stream video. I say they are the one group who can melt your face and your heart in the same concert.

You could do a BAND-MAID song every day and you'd have enough for the rest of the year. They were just in a Netflix movie with Woody Harrelson, called Kate. Every member of BAND-MAID is a virtuoso. They are musician's musicians. You should do 'Real Existence' LIVE next. But don 't forget their Music Videos, like from their April Fool's Day persona, BAND-MAIKO with a more traditional flavor. No matter what genre you're into there is a BAND-MAID song for you. Every song is better than the last one. If you want a drum solo, try 'Freedom' LIVE. Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin said Akane is the reincarnation of John Bonham.
This is not just freestyle jamming. Kanami composed it I believe, and Akane on drums really sets the tone, along with Misa on bass and Miku just amazes every time we see her as she has advanced her technique and has become quite a good guitarist.

Its kinda sad...2020 they were poised to Dominate the World Rock Scene with their World Tour....
So we are all on hold to see if World Wide Touring will ever fully recover. The Loss of Momentum was a hard blow. But Band Maid is still in the Mix and we will just see what happens next!!
