Be prepared to look at past favorites and wonder why they didn't do more! BAND-MAID will change the way you hear music, gauranteed. Nice reaction, mate👍
The real deal! For my money, for this old Zeppelin, Floyd, Rush & Yes fan, this is the best rock band on the planet 🌍 right now that I’m aware of. These ladies are remarkably talented - not just as players, but as composers, arrangers. Songwriters and performers. Welcome to the Pigeon hole that is Band Maid 🔥✌🏼 Try - Domination - official live video - Dice - official MV or live - Moratorium - live - YOLO - MV - Rinne - MV - No God - official live - Warning - official MV - Manners - official MV or official live Dozens more as good or better - no bad songs Enjoy!!
@@bartyslattfast In some aspects, yes; in others maybe not. I’d love to see them create something longer like Rush’s Natural Science - there’s no question as to whether they could do it. I’m not sure they could do the heavy blues power of Zeppelin but that’d be cool to see them have a go. But probably just not who they are and that’s fine. But, yeah, I also just love them for who they are and what they are doing.
Similar age and experiences here. Totally agree with you, they are awesome muso's and the songs, Kanami's arrangements are genius. Sometimes they show distinct 70's prog rock sounds and feels. Cheers!
@@bobespirit2112 I agree regarding Zep. And I love BM for their consistent ability to produce excellent songs that have that BM touch; the thing that makes one start grinning while listening.
Band Maid is not the "next" band to check out, they are "THE" band to check out. One of the absolute best rock bands you will ever hear. The greatest thing in life is the birth of your child, the second greatest thing is seeing a "Maidiac" be born! Great job man, your in for a spectacular ride. 🎶🎸🥁🎸🎶🔥🙂
Welcome to the Band-Maid black hole… haha… you’ll see. Epic doesn’t even begin to touch the ride you’re on 🤘 Loved this reaction. So many more Band-Maid songs to check out. 🎸
Excellent first reaction! Your enthusiasm is palpable. My recommendation is to do Domination (live) next. It immediately followed this song at the filmed concert. As an extra bit of trivia, I believe Play and Domination were the 22nd and 23rd songs of a 24 song setlist! Talk about keeping the energy up! As for info on who they are: Miku Kobato (Mee-koo): Band founder, rhythm guitarist, main lyricist, and backing vocals. Originally a pop-oriented singer, the band concept was her idea, and went looking for musicians to help bring it to life. She found… Kanami Touno (Kah-nah-mee): Lead guitarist and main composer/songwriter. A singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Miku found her online performances and reached out. Kanami knew some other musicians from gigs, in particular… Akane Hirose (Ah-kah-nay): Drummer. She had gigged with Kanami before, and is also a multi-instrumentalist, as well as a music school graduate. When they needed a bass player, Akane reached out to her fellow music school graduate… MISA (Mee-sah): Bassist. While Kanami does write the majority of the music, when it comes to the bass, she just gives the key and chord changes to MISA, who then writes all of her own parts. Miku and the band quickly realized that while Miku was (and remains) an excellent singer, she didn’t have a “rock” voice. So she voluntarily stepped back as lead singer, learned to play rhythm guitar from Kanami, and auditioned singers to replace her as the lead vocalist, and she found… Saiki Atsumi (Sigh-key): Lead vocalist and co-lyricist. When she auditioned, the band didn’t tell her about the maid theme out of fear of scaring her off! But her cool attitude and strong vocals were what the band needed to be complete That’s the basic rundown, and of course there’s a lot more detail to learn, but the major takeaway is that the band is organic, naturally formed and not put together by some studio, and focused on their craft. Their music has influences ranging from hard rock, metal, punk, prog, pop, blues, funk, and jazz, and yet they remain unquestionably themselves. Have fun reacting to more of their stuff!
Good job, probably the best concise origin story rundown I've seen. I would just add in "(she had worked in maid cafes)" after "the band concept was her idea." AND your name pronunciations aren't ambiguous!
"How many times do you hear a song where the bass shines/have its moment?" Pretty much every Band-Maid song. There are no bad songs, seriously. Pick anything and enjoy the ride! 🙂
Tons of Japanese rock in general, i mean babymetal, doll$boxx, any of the many bands with the weekend manager, stoic hs, maximum the hormone and many many more have beloved standout bassist
@@delbomb3131 It is very much more consistent with Band-Maid. I find with the exception of dollsbox/gacharic spin the bass is often mixed to low and not as prominent, unless it's live in Japanese rock music.
@@AMetalheadsPerspective i dunno man, I'll give you boh with babymetal, they totally do bury him in the mix. But from the list i gave ue chan is always high in the mix, stoic hs all you can hear is bass most of the time, and the weekend manager? That dude is so funky ichika couldn't even cover him up in ichikoro. And we're not even to punkish bands like yonige, humpback, or even polkadot stingray that all keep their bass fairly high in the mix. I used the word "rock" on purpose cause yeah metal in japan will bury it frequently, frustratingly so in unlucky morpheus, but as a whole i tend to notice the bass way way more in Japanese rock than rock from other places.
@@delbomb3131 I was just mainly commenting on the bands you had listed, I do agree there is many prolific bass players in Japan, but sometimes they do not stand out to me the way Misa does. At the end of the day it is all personal preference but I get what you are saying as well.
8 seconds after they hit the last stinger for "Play," Kanami rips into the opening chords of "Domination (Live)," and they launch into that, taking this crowd even higher. Oh, hey, you're in luck! There's a live video of that, also on their YT channel. :)
G.G You speak the truth. always have, always will. I speak a different kind of truth but it's still true & what i'm trying to say is "I agree with you".🙂
Welcome to the world of Band-Maid! A long road of awesomeness that takes you down the Pigeon Hole to great music! "Domination" follows this song and these songs are number 21 and 22 at this performance! Also I would recommend "Freedom" from this same concert for a epic drum solo! You want bass? "No God", live will give you bass, MISA, The Barefoot Assassin excels in that song! Band-Maid lets all the instruments show through, making every song a emersion experience! More than 100 great songs to choose from, no bad ones! Enjoy the ride, Po!
Wayne i suggested "Domination" live ages ago on a Lovebites reaction opening up myself for potential flak from the Wolfpack, but VSC said "Get lost Gary". He didn't actually say that but i know that's what he was thinking.😏 So i'll leave the link here just in case he changes his mind, after all how can he ignore my Pleading Christmas emoji face.🥺 ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.html
Welcome to the Magic, a lot to unpack but the fans will fill you in as you go. You have found the most cohesive, versatile and insanely talented group in rock today. The stars truly aligned when these 5 members formed Band-Maid.
Band Maid not only lets the bass shine, they shine the spotlight on everyone. I like to think they have a lead singer, a lead guitarist, a lead drummer, a lead bass, and a lead maid.
"Lead Maid" Kobato Miku is quickly coming into her own as a rhythm guitarist tho, and in another year or two, I can see her shredding her own solos interchangeably alongside Kanami! Miku also composes a lot of the melodies for the band as well.
Y'all might not like this but I think their music sounds a bit like old Foghat. I could see them writing a song like "Slow Ride". I love BM too. That silver guitar Maiku is using now was custom made for her and presented before the New York show on their American tour back in early 2022. It's 1 of only 2 in the world and sounds awesome af. She was playing a little lead at the end of the tour. They will be at Cochella in 2023 if the COVID doesn't mess everything up again
Welcome aboard, VSC. You are embarking on (along with many others - 130 million YT views!) an awesome hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:
BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (118 songs with their latest album, “Unseen World” and new single drops), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off the rails spectacular. Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 70 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: ruclips.net/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/видео.html Their later songs from albums Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Warning, No God, H-G-K, Black Hole, Sense, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Glory, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, About Us, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts! And many are represented with over 40 well produced music videos. ruclips.net/user/BANDMAID Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYU-JI concerts. Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA on February 14th (“Domination” ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.html), ZEPP 2018, Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 (bandmaidprime.tokyo) and some of the better 2019 tour Fan vids are excellent. Here’s four of what it’s like to see Band-Maid LIVE at super intimate venues. These two taken by Vladimir Chupin in Hamburg: ruclips.net/video/__1th7ctgMo/видео.html, and a fun, wonderful live performance in Amsterdam of Miku introducing "Don't You Tell Me" (with MISA & Kanami's great instrumental exchange) and "Turn Me On” (with MISA's solo intro): ruclips.net/video/kfYQoWBlSpk/видео.html. The next one was taken by JT Dayo in LA: ruclips.net/video/4uIYBkAybCI/видео.html, and finally by JOSER8845 in LA: ruclips.net/video/usWZvlGGDSs/видео.html. If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, CD, DVD/BD & Merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009 Band-Maid members are: Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 27 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen! Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 30 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!! Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 30 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 31 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 29 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note.. uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA! Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans. [BAND-MAID NEWS] ■ BAND-MAID PRIME - Special Video Distribution Website. ** NEW ** Along with nearly 50 great play-through’s by each member, concerts and skits, Band-Maid management / label(s) have finally included the ZEPP 2018 and Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 concerts at their Prime website! Your reaction made my day. Reminds me my first exposure to the band. Yes it's a great song from BandMaid. Problem: they only have great songs, so imagine what a bliss is a two-hours concert! I've had that chance (before covid times) and I cherish that moment.
Love your reaction to this amazing band. I think you will enjoy the journey as they have so many awesome songs and no bad ones. They are really special, that's for sure.
You will quickly fall in love with this band. What awaits you? Akane, one of the best rock drummers of the moment, crazy drum fills, wonderful double pedal. Misa, undoubtedly one of the best bassists of the moment, the tone of her bass is noticeable in each of their songs, exchanges between plectrum and slap so fast that you don't even notice it. Kanami is the genius behind their music as well as being a perfect lead guitarist. Each composition is dedicated to adapting to the song, you will rarely see crazy guitar solos, but each solo is perfect for the song, if it has to excite you it excites you, if it has to charge you it charges you. Tempo changes, pattern changes, there is everything. Saiki, nothing to say, her voice is wonderful, and finally the one who allowed all this, rhythm guitarist and backing vocal, Miku, started playing the guitar only when the band was created, that says it all. The next suggestion is the classic "domination live".
Dude, you're having WAY too much fun watching this performance :D I love live recordings where the crowd is really into it. When the girls tell you to sing, you by golly SING! :D Oh, about Akane the drummer - she got to meet Jimmy Page after a show, and Page told her she sounded like the reincarnation of John Bonham :D
Great, enthusiastic reaction! You, sir, display the joy that we all felt when first hearing this band. The best part is that you may find yourself loving, and being impressed by, numerous Band Maid songs, and performances. They are not just good, or great, like some other bands. They’re special. I’d recommend their double live video “Manners/Black Hole”, to see 2 completely different sides of the group. Manners is a classic rock style anthem, and Black Hole is a prog-rock gem. Unfortunately those are from an online concert, so no crowd, but great anyway.
Thanks for posting that. I love watching Band-Maid blow away people during the first minute when they watch the band perform live in concert. Congrats, you're the latest in a looong line of unsuspecting listeners, myself included.
Welcome to BANDMAID! You will see many comments saying “There are no bad songs”! It’s true. They have a huge back catalog and everything has something new to offer. These woman are keeping Rock alive! (Plus some jazz, metal, prog etc etc) You get the idea. Try these; Dice MV Alone MV Onset (instrumental genius) Warning Puzzle And many more lol Enjoy the ride! 🤟🏻 (Fellow Aussie here)
Thanks for reacting to my favourite band Band Maid ! You should definately watch 'Freedom' live next you will have a blast. Some people watch Band Maid for the first time and just instantly get it, you sir get it ! Welcome to the home of Maidiacs ! I hope you Band Maid journey is as enjoyable as mine has been. Enjoy !!
Welcome to Band-Maid! Nice you are starting with an LIVE performance... IMO thats the real strength of Band-Maid. The whole intro is NOT on the album and they mix it up everytime live... On one show its an new intro for this song, a new solo section here, an new outro there... They are always surprising their fans with something new, dont know how they are able to remember all these things! My favorite band for a few years now and they are getting better and better! They were on a REALLY high level before, but they are improving anyway, its wild! Greetings from Germany P.S.: Akane had a meeting with Jimmy Page from Led Zepplin, he saw their show in Tokyo and he wanted to meet her backstage, because he was totally amazed by her, there is a picture of it on the internet, i am pretty sure you will find it. Her fills are unique and there are rumors he said: She is the reincarnation of John Bonham (by many considered as the best drummer of all time) But its a rumour, so nobody knows exactly if its true :) I still love that reference! And look at some rankings for female drummers or interviews etc. about Akane Hirose, she has an REALLY REALLY high reputation (like everyone else in this band, i guess)
I am going out on a limb here matey and say your reaction was as good as the performance if not the best I have seen!! Good on ya, definitely worth watching again! For me this is my fav live song by band maid next to domination!! If you like this you will like the rest!! 🤟😎
You noticed a lot of the things that makes Band Maid great on your first time watching them WOW and your excitement was infectious it put a smile on my face what a great reaction! This a rabbit hole you don't want to pass up my friend keep the Band Maid reactions coming the fanbase is great and the music obviously speaks for itself. Zero bad songs you get to pick whatever you want and there is a 100% guarantee that if you enjoyed this, which you did, your mind will continue to be blown.
Play started off life as an instrumental but Saiki thought it was so much fun that she asked Miku to write lyrics for her. Onset is now the stand out instrumental which also is mind blowing. Oh and Kanami normally uses PRS Custom 24 (Purple) Mahogany Body & PRS Custom 24 (Green) Korina Body guitars.
Play is brilliant, but Onset might actually be even better. Parts of Onset give me flashbacks to some of the best Cure songs from my youth, but there's so much more going on there. I can't get enough of it.
I somehow came across this band about two years ago just surfing the net. I saw their video for Thrill, and I was hooked. I so loved their music that I started to check out reaction channels for their takes on this stellar music. That in turn led me to Nightwish, Lovebites, Waggaki Band, Sabaton, Beast In Black, etc. I was not looking for new music, but sooo glad I came upon Bandmaid. Enjoy diving into these talented ladies.
Well you have Rock and you have Metal and you have Band Maid. Want to smile, want to feel buzzed, want to feel sad, it is all there. Like a bit of bass, like powerful drums, like vocal harmony ,like guitar solos. Yes well they have it covered. 8 years of music of the very best music to get though. They just keep getting better. Good music, great music and then there is Band Maid.
Great, very perceptive reaction. The fact that you picked up on stuff like Kanami's lead guitar even though it wasn't right out front in the mix, Akane the drummer playing on the rims, etc., but also got the _context_ in which they put their (constant) flashy bits tells me that you will fall in love with this band if you haven't already. Every song is at least this good or pretty close, but with a stylistic range that's rare in rock yet is always recognizably Band-Maid. The re-listenability factor is off the charts. They're also endearing, funny human beings and their music just makes you feel good even on the occasions where they tear your heart out.
this song live leads into "Domination Live" you will see the end of this video is the start of that video. next one to watch. For drummer "freedom live" should come after that
Really fun to see you experience a truly great band with Lovebites, and run right into goddess mode. HAHA Band-Maid is NOT studio created and one the best stories on Rock today. Domination immediately follows this on the set list AND it's available on their official channel. Welcome to the Pigeon Hole! Heres your Guide for Dummies (Like me!) :p Once upon a time in Japan.... Miku (Who is a 800+ year old pigeon... long story) was in a short lived "idol" band in Japan and ended up working in a "Maid Cafe". She came up with idea to create a rocking band in maid costumes. A "Gap" as its called in appearance to action. Miku found singer/songwriter Kaname (Lead Guitar and main Composer), who knew Akane - AKA "The Gorilla - she likes bananas a lot! (drums - Jazz and Classically Trained), who knew Misa - AKA the "Barefoot Assassin" (Bass, Jazz and Classically trained). [Grab a post-it now and paste to your desk - Miku (B/U and Rhythm,) Kaname (Lead) Akane (Drums) Misa (Bass) Saiki (Vocals)] Putting it together... It became apparent Mikus voice wasn't really suited to the style and so they decided to go find Lead Vocals and brought in Saiki. This basically put Miku out of a job in the band she created, but instead she adapted and Kaname started teaching her guitar. That's right. She couldn't even play in the first video they did 6 years ago. Now she has a 70-80s style aggressive punk style attack on rhythm and Kaname is constantly expanding her guitar parts in challenging ways. All while singing backup. Personally, I never could sing and play ha-ha Their first actual song they wrote and recorded was "Alone". They have changed label since and have joined a new one now for the new album going into 2021. Their look, songs, style etc. are their own. Not studio directed. Pretty cool these days. Note: Miku is the main lyricist and writes in heavy metaphors that can be interpreted many ways and often confusing in translation. So, they often add parts that audiences of any language can sing along.
Yo Jordan, great first time reaction to Band-Maid. I know why you were laughing but Band-Maid is no joke. They may also bring a tear. No egos in this band. ALL members get their time to shine. The best rhythm section in the business. My vote is for the lives first: DOMINATION-LIVE (for the quintessential Band-Maid), FREEDOM-LIVE (kickass drum solo), ONSET-LIVE (instrumental-solos), REAL EXISTENCE (for more fun). Band-Maid has mucho synergy and sense of melody. Resistance is futile. Enjoy the trip down the pigeon hole but always remember that BAND-MAID is Awesome and Fun. Peace.
Well, I’m going to go ahead and like and subscribe. I’ll be looking forward to you checking out more of them :). Play is a great introduction song and this performance is stellar! Very nice reaction man!
The only serious problem that BAND-MAID will have in the future is compiling a set list. Almost every one of their songs is to some fans in the Top 5 favorites. I don't know that is the case with any other band that has such a great discography. Maybe The Beatles and that's it.
That is very true...SCANDAL has the same "problem," trying to play their newer stuff while still giving the fans the songs the paid the admission fee for. I mean, they still end up playing Harukaze and SCANDAL Baby at every gig, even while trying to promo a new album.
I'm sure this always comes off as hyperbolic when I say this is the comments, but I'm absolutely 100% serious when I say; Band-Maid are the best pure hard rock band in the world today. Saiki Atsumi (Vocals, sneaker collecting, being badass without trying), Kanami Tono (lead guitar, president of the Saiki fanclub, all around musical genius), Miku Kobato (Rhythm guitar, backing vocals, world class stage presence, pigeon things) MISA (Bass, funky bass, extra funky bass, whiskey drinking) and Akane Hirose (Drums, gorilla things, smiling like a maniac). Tbh, I'm not gonna make a specific request, cause they only do bangers. If you want to experience the full evolution, just go to their official RUclips channel and start at the beginning. It's absolutely worth it. Peace and love and metal my dude 🤟
You are going to love Band-Maid, because you will use the phrase "I did not expect that" a lot when going through their discography. To say that they are versatile is an understatement. Since you are already hooked, it doesn't matter what song you pick next, because they are all amazing. They shine live so that is usually the goto for any reaction.
Two members (MISA - Bass, Akane - Drums) are classically trained musicians who studied at the Tokyo Academy of Music while Kanami, the lead guitarist, has also been playing piano since the age of 3 or 4 but is concert standard (almost unbelievably, given her skills, she only switched to guitar about 10 years ago!) They all have superb musical ability as well as passion, a lack of ego and the drive to play real, in your face, Rock which is why they are THE best live Rock band on Earth right now. The only band I've seen that is playing live like bands I went to see in the 70's, such as Led Zeppelin or Sabbath or Zappa. Music they write themselves, real guitars, drums and bass played loudly and with passion as well as powerful Rock vocals. They are all really close friends and know how to have fun together on stage, confident as they are in each others’ abilities and skills. They've revived the classic Rock sound and given the genre a much needed kick in the ass, as Babymetal have done for Metal. Future reactions I'd recommend, as they really shine brightest live, would be from the DVD they released in April 2020. FREEDOM: ruclips.net/video/FHpuEqMAcDg/видео.html , PLAY: ruclips.net/video/3LxX_t4vg7U/видео.html , CHOOSE ME: ruclips.net/video/HcqitbXgigU/видео.html , DOMINATION: ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.html and WONDERLAND: ruclips.net/video/x4hxLeHbqZo/видео.html , though they have superb music videos too.
Fantastic reaction! I felt the same way when I first discovered BAND-MAID. They have over 100 songs in their catalog and they all range from good to HOLY MOTHER OF ALL THAT IS GOOD WHAT JUST HAPPENED! Others have suggested great songs to which you should react. If you want to hear where they are recently, checkout their 2 song live MV "Manners, BLACK-HOLE". Both songs are from their most recent album "Unseen World". "Manners" is a groovy bluesy "Classic Rock" style song with BAND-MAID spiciness! "BLACK HOLE" is a 220 BPM sonic onslaught with awesome vocals! Also checkout the MV to their new single "Sense" and then the two other songs included (B and C sides? There is a playlist for the 3 songs on their official channel) Hibana and Corallium. Liked and subscribed! I am looking forward to watching more of your journey into BAND-MAID. 🤘😎🤘
Subbed! Looking forward to your journey with this band. They're gonna hit you with so many different styles and sounds and genres, and it's all so good. Saiki: Lead Vocals Miku: Backing Vocals/Rhythm Guitar Kanami: Lead Guitar MISA: Bass Akane: Drums Kanami does the lions share of the composing of songs, but all members contribute in arrangement or other ways. Miku writes almost all the lyrics. Their earlier work was written for them by other writers but now they are almost completely in charge of all their songs. They may have an odd guest writer here and there in later albums, but not the most recent ones. Their live performances are a lot of fun. Freedom, Domination are a ton of fun like this one. Onset is an instrumental that will make you fall in love. Other great intro songs would be DICE, Blooming, Manners, Warning. If you want to see where they started, Thrill is the song that got them noticed. If you want to check their newest stuff, Sense, or anything from Unseen World. They really don't have a BAD song, and there's a lot that's not on RUclips either.
Welcome to the club 😊 great enthusiastic reaction with an ear for details 👍 You just opened the door a little bit to an incredible journey. I’m around in the rock scene since the days of Led Zep, Black Sabbath, Rush, etc. Band-Maid is hands down the miste versatile, interesting, creative, fun band - just the best rock band I discovered since decades. Every single member pushes herself and the band constantly forward to break boundaries. Band Maid play in their own league above the rest in my humble opinion and Kanami Tono the leadguitarist is just a pure genius in composition, Misa (Bass) and Akane (Drums) form one of the best if not the best rhythm sections ever in rock. Saiki (lead vocal) and Miku (second vocal and rhythm guitar) are great singer and harmonize perfectly. Miku btw is also the lyricist of the Band. She writes very meaningful lyrics - no bullsh**. There is a lot more to discover - 100+ songs already, no stinker in the basket. I would recommend Domination LIVE as a second and then try something of their new stuff, Warning MV, Manners/Black hole LIVE, Sense MV or Blooming MV, Rinne MV and, and, and … 😊 Enjoy your journey.
👍One of the best reactions I've heard in a long time! Great ear for bandmaids technical brilliance! Try puzzle official live video next! You are now an official maidiac like the rest of us!👌🤘🤘❤❤
After a short career with a unsuccessful idol group, singer/guitarist Miku Kobato ended up working in Japanese maid café and envisioned forming a band that juxtaposed the maid image with rock music. Kobato recruited lead guitarist Kanami Tōno after an Internet search. Kanami had performed as a singer-songwriter and suggested her occasional backing drummer Akane Hirose for the new band. Hirose in turn suggested bassist Misa, with whom she had attended music school. The band decided that Miku's vocals weren't strong enough for rock, so they recruited an additional lead singer, selecting Saiki Atsumi during auditions. Kanami started teaching Miku to play guitar to fill out their sound, and as you can see, Miku has come a long way!
The band as a collective decided they needed a rhythm guitar to complete the band and had to decide who would do it, so Miku said she would learn. Kanami and Misa told her to buy anything she liked and not to worry about choosing the wrong guitar. She started out with a Rickenbacher until someone from Zemitis asked Kanami and her to use theirs. Kanami declined because she is already contracted to use the PRS you see in the video. Miku really liked Zemitis, so now she has her own signature line with them, which is also in the video.
@@ichichu In the 2016 MV for "The Non-Fiction Days" Kanami's still playing her Addictone while Miku's Zemaitis makes its first appearance, although in "Alone" from the same album she's still got her Rickenbacker. Similarly, Kanami is still playing the Addictone in the MV for "YOLO" from _Just Bring It_ but in "Don't You Tell ME" from the same album she's finally got her PRS.
@@Metal_Auditor I am pretty sure you are right. I was simply generalizing it as I think Akane did suggest someone play guitar, which everyone agreed and it was up to Miku or Saiki to do decide.
They have a song on their latest album that Kanami wrote (lead guitar, main song composer) and the guitar part she wrote for herself was so difficult it took her 2 months to learn how to play it. That says something about their musicianship.
Awesome reaction! I really enjoy when someone sincerely gets lost in the moment of discovery Big respect for your ability to still extract individual drum elements and song structure despite the onslaught of joy! I can imagine how well you’ll do when you’re prepared for it Band-Maid makes us all better listeners of music
Best rock band on the planet and you'll likely have a similar reaction to anything you hear from them. This band made me rediscover my love of music. The first video had me intrigued, the second one had me sobbing tears of joy I was so happy. Two suggestions on a next one, "Domination" live is a great introduction to everything they do and "Freedom" live if you want to hear more from their once in a lifetime drummer, Akane.
If you go back to where the lead singer Saiki is singing and facing the drummer in front of the drums, you can see the drummer Akane make a face that causes Saiki to laugh while singing. You have to listen carefully to notice it.
Great Reaction !! With comments that you've made here, watch your hits and subs fly. Picked up a lot on a 1st listen. They are phenomenal musicians. Wait to you listen to their other live material. it will just add to your understanding why so many fans (maidiacs) think The Maids are the best band. Songs like Real Existence and Onset. Then you have MV's in Warning, Manners, Bubble, Choose Me, Daydreaming. Listen to Hibana on their latest EP release. Gotcha Gotcha Gotcha..So many more. Here's their names. Kanami on lead guitar who is the genius composer over the last 5 years. Misa on bass Akane on Drums Miku on vocals and rhythm guitar Saiki on Lead vocals Miku thought of Maids concept. She thought the contrasting of the outfits and rock music would be interesting and attract attention. It certainly has done that!! One thing you'll learn to appreciate as you go through their catalogue is their diversity and creativity often within the 1 song. Enjoy the musical journey. The magical mystery tour of the past decade. You'll never look at music the same way again..
Bitten on your first song... Band maid doing band maid stuff... The "Gorilla" (Akane the drummer) is a gem.. And everysong has a thick bass line presence.. After all Misa is one of the best.. You need to see Freedom live so the drumming becomes more obvious.. And Lead/bass battles do "Take me higher" and "Turn me on" live.. If you dare.. :) Best wishes from France.;
I can't wait until their pent-up live show energy is finally unleashed on the maidiac fandom!! These girls thrive in a live show and are just, well frankly - the best hard rock band around, and without a doubt the most fun show of any kind going! COVID GO AWAY!!!
Great reaction. I have similar reaction with your when I first time listened to band maid XD. I was so happy that I discoveried this band. DOMINATION (live) would be a good one for next reaction. You will definitely love it XD

MISA (Yes, her name is all caps) is a driving force of the band. She's never in the background. Her bass playing is just as important as Kanami's guitar or Akane's drums. For more bass watch Onset (instrumental), Freedom live (drum solo), Don't Tell Me live for bass/guitar battle, Domination live for a solo from each member. These ladies are phenomenal and you've just entered the pigeon hole. Welcome on your journey to becoming a Maidiac.
And the Pigeon Goddess creates another Maidiac.... Great reaction, your face was a picture. You are going to have a lot of fun exploring BAND-MAID my friend.
Would you believe this is typical of them? lol It's a good one to start with I think. All of their live videos are great. You'll love Domination and Real Existence. The live online are not as good without the crowd but still excellent. Their MVs are great too. My first and still favorite is Dice. This is a band with more personal hit songs for me that many other bands put together! I mean they've only been together since 2013 and have as many songs I love as the Beatles! They have a combination of highly talented women with the right sound and know how to hook you in.
BAND MAID is celebrating its 8th year of formation. BAND was formed by a girl Miku Kobato who came to Tokyo from a rural area of Japan to become a singer when she was about 19 years old. Five unique and talented girls gathered. The members have not changed, and they are continuing their efforts to improve their playing ability. They are constantly writing new songs and cool songs. Three new songs were released at the end of October. BAND MAID is a hard rock band, but it's a very diverse band. Listen to different types of songs. 1 Thrill : The first music video that saved them from dissolution. Classic rock 2014 2 Sense : The theme song of the anime "Platinum End". Dramatic, fast hard rock with a classic intro. 2021.10 3 Bubble : A tribute to the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, funky rock 4 Different : First anime opening song, new sense of high-speed rock. Anime is Log Horizon 3rd season. 2020.12 5 Daydreaming : Beautiful power ballad. Saiki and Kobato vocals and Kanami's guitar solo are wonderful. 6 Dice : Rhythmic hard rock singing women's independence 7 about us : A gift for fans who cannot meet in a pandemic. Beautiful ballad. 2021.02 8 Freedom : A power rock that walks around the stage and conveys a smile. The transition from drum solo to lead guitar is the best. 9 Manners : Declaration to create new hard rock while inheriting classic rock. Cool hard rock. Rock'n'Roll never die. 10 alone : The song they wrote, composed and released for the first time. Medium speed Hard Rock 2016 11 Secret My Lips & Secret Maiko Lips : Funky Hard Rock. A gift for fans of April Fool's Day . 12 Blooming : Vocals and chorus are impressive, and various types of music are fused. 13 RINNE : High-speed rhythmic heavy rock, inspired by the Japanese horror movie "RINNE : Reincarnation". RINNE (Reincarnation) is also found in Eastern thought and Buddhist thought. 14 onset : Instrumental song for lead singer Saiki breaks, their great playing power and harmony. 15 Before Yesterday : Record of the first overseas performance, Sakura-Con in Seattle 2016. Melodic Rock with great lyrics. 16 Choose me : An insert song of the concert scene the Netflix movie KATE, they appeared as BAND MAID. Cool rock song. 17 Dragon Cry : The only song produced by Tony Visconti. It's not their lyrics, but it sings about the future of human society and the earth. Great Heavy Classic Rock . 18 After Life : A homage to the maid cafe and band formation where Kobato worked. BAND-MAID Hard Rock . 19 Corallium : The song that Saiki wrote all the lyrics for the first time. Hip pop style dancing hard rock. Added ★ Peace & Love : Founder Miku Kobato's solo project. Pigeon saves the world. Funky pop rock.
@@ShikataGaNai100 Thank you, Certainly, it would be more accurate to say that it is a large local city (740K). It is one of the largest cities in Kyushu, ranking 20th in Japan and 3rd in Kyushu (Kumamoto prefecture is 1.74M and 23rd in Japan). Japan is a small country, but it is long from north to south, Hokkaido is at the northern end, Kyushu is at the southern end, and Tokyo is almost in the center. Kumamoto is located in the center of Kyushu and was recently hit by a big earthquake. I think it's a difficult decision for a young woman to go to Tokyo alone without becoming a talent school or scout.
@@toshimatyu6654 Ayumi Hamasaki was 16 when she left Fukuoka for Tokyo. Rina Suzuki (SCANDAL) was 15 when she joined SCANDAL...Haruna was her legal guardian until she turned 20.
@@ShikataGaNai100 Ayumi Hamasaki was scouted by SOS modeling agency Fukuoka when she was in elementary school, and at the age of 14, she made her first appearance in a TV Asahi TV drama and made her debut as an actress. The scandal was formed on August 21, 2006 by four members, TOMOMI and RINA, who belong to the Caress Vocal & Dance School Osaka School, and HARUNA and MAMI, who belong to the Nagoya School. Even though Miku has dropped out of college, I think it's difficult for a woman without a backing to succeed as a singer in Tokyo. There may be other examples, but it's miraculous. And it is a miracle that 5 of BAND-MAID gathered under Kobato. Ayumi Hamasaki was Japan's best singer for a while, and Scandal has been Japan's number one female rock band for many years. They are one of the few special successes.
@@toshimatyu6654 1. It is Caless Vocal and Dance. 2. Do you go out of your way to try to one-up me? 3. Could you be a bit less combative when replying to me? Stop trying to one-up me.
Welcome to the world of band-maid. Best band in the world. You can listen to every song from them. My favorites are moratorium and day dreaming. But i love all of their songs.
Band Maid is one of the few bands that can melt you face and your heart at the same time. The guitarist Miku Kobato conceived the band to have the image of demure maids that worked in cafes yet melt your faces off. I love her as she plays Zemaitis guitars. She has used them so extensively that they made a custom model for her called "Flappy Pigeon". They are currently my fave band atm
The best rhythm section in rock (MISA and Akane), coupled with the amazing vocals (Saiki), along with the two tiny guitar dynamos (Kanami and Miku). Meeting them was amazing for me: You have the impressively tall MISA (~5'8") and Akane (5'6")...and the 5'1" Kanami and 5' Miku...and we have the normal sized Saiki (5'4"). All at the absolute top of their game. Miku is the music business brain and lyricist (she founded the band and it is basically her band), and Kanami is the composer. I have not seen a band this good in many, many years. These girls will one day be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. I hope that we get Covid under control, so these girls finally get a shot at playing Budokan and all of the major Domes in Japan. They seem destined to inherit the #1 J-Girl Band spot from SCANDAL in the not too distant future. Amazingly, their international following is bigger than their Japanese fan base.
@@5Melig Gee, god forbid that this gaijin boy who has spent years studying Japan on every level be tested here. The average American woman is NOT 5'8". I have probably spent more time on a Japanese toilet in Japan than you have spent in Japan in any sense. Go pull your bullshit with your anime type buddies, not with someone who has live in Japan for more time in the last 20 years than he has live in America. たわごとの袋を食べます!
@@ShikataGaNai100 I'm not American. Well, just looked up average female height in different countries, 156,5cm is what it said about Japan. Did that because I got bored with all those people calling Haruna and the rest of Lovebites 'tiny' and 'cute' all the time, tried to shut them up. It's about the music, and their interaction. And no need to be rude, in any language.
MISA MISA MISA! yep these ladies KNOW how to get the crowd involved I have seen them twice flew from Tullamarine to LAX (via Auckland) to see them in 2019
Thanks VSC for picking up immediately on the nuances that make this band so special. Band-Maid has an incredible array of talent, but it's much more than that: they are consistently creative, catchy, and their songs are stuffed with more hooks than Moby Dick. Suggestions: Domination (live), Warning, Black Hole, Blooming, Rinne (hard rock oriented); Anemone and Daydreaming (ballads); Manners (Bluesy); Wonderland (jazzy and layered). They are doing an all-acoustic set on 12/25.
One of the most genuinely positive initial reactions I've ever see. Bandmaid deserves it. You may want to stay with performances from this concert for awhile. Domination and Freedom official live videos would probably be to your liking. Also, from 2018, Real Existense live and Onset (an instrumental) are great live performances. After that, only about 100 more good ones to react too. Cheers from Canada
Their live 2020 another songs Freedom(long drum solo), Domination, Don't You Tell me(bass/guitar battle), On Set(bass solo), Take Me Higher(bass solo), live 2021 No God(bass solo), Dice(bass solo), Thrill(bass solo), Bro, check also another all females Metal Band NEMOPHILA - songs Revive, Hypnosis, Dissension, Raitei(Thunder, best dual guitar solo's and outro) HANABIE - song We Love Sweets ASTERISM - songs Faced, Gunfire, Church, Rising Moon, Dawn All Japanese females Band their drummer is crazy..... 😁
Akane Hirose< The drummer AKA The Gorilla. Jimmy Page caught a show and was so impressed with Akane he requested a meet and greet and photo with Akane. She thought the girls were pranking her when they said Jimmy Page wanted to meet her. There are over a 100 songs in their catolog and not a bad song.
Band-Maid are together with Lovebites for me the best two female bands on earth. You should try the live songs of this concert "Freedom" and "Domination", both have a little drumsolo in it !
If you are a metal man watch "Rinne" (music video, not live), the "Manners / Black Hole" double video (Manners is grooving rock, Black Hole is closer to thrash metal). Also "Different". "Blooming" is good too. Overall, Band-Maid is heavy rock, but draw from many genres. They are always fast and complex and talented. Watch the live Domination and Freedom from this same concert -- core Band-Maid. If you are still hungry for more, anything on their playlist is good -- they don't release garbage. They have high standards, and they are real musicians. Miku Kobato -- founder, lyricist, rhythm guitar, backup vocals -- and designer of the maid costumes. She used to work as a maid in a maid cafe, and got the idea there. Background: pop singer. Kanami Tono -- composer, lead guitar, taught Miku how to play guitar. Idol is Carlos Santana. Background: singer/songwriter/guitarist Akane Hirose -- drummer, graduate of Tokyo School of Music - can also play trombone, band leader (practical organiser). Praised by Led Zeppelin drummer, who came to watch a concert. MISA -- bass, graduate of Tokyo School of Music - can play trumpet. Plays in stockinged feet (tallest band member) Saiki Atsumi -- lead vocals, quality control (the song isn't ready until Saiki is happy) Background: singer/dancer
Band Maid is extremely talented and considered one of the best hard rock bands in the world . They have over 100 great songs on RUclips alone . Some suggestions "Domination" Live "Real Existence" or "Dice" MV ! Welcome Aboard the Maidiac Express =)
"Play, Live" Was the go-to song to recommend for the first-time reactors, It's a simple concert singalong filla, but even their filla's are better than what most bands put out as an A-side. What's next, well I'll leave that to everyone else cos it doesn't matter what you go for, they're all as good or even better than this!
Band-Maid is one of few bands where the bass regularly plays solo. MISA is one hell of a bass player, you have already figured :-) With Band-Maid the bass is not hiddden in the mix, you get MISA straight in your face in every song. Forgot to say, Band-Maid are the best hard rock band since the 70s and they are every bit as good as any of the great bands of the 70s or even better. Band-Maid is the best on crowd participation, there is no one like them, and the Maidiacs love to participate on live shows and it shows. Greetings from a Madiac from Norway. Forgot one more thing, Band-Maid are world class musicians and they write all music themselves. Please react to everything Band-Maid, Maidiacs will approve and support you. Their latest album "Unseen World" is a rock masterpiece and easily the best hard rock album of all times.
Domination and Freedom from the same concert... Then pretty much go anywhere with these gals. Not a bad track in their inventory, only levels of awesome...
It just doesn't get any better than this! I've been listening to pop/rock/blues/soul/disco/metal/classical for the last 50 years and this band has breathed new life into the metal genre. Go Band Maid!
I had the same reaction as you when I discovered them last year. One thing that was positive about the pandemic was the discovery of many amazing Japanese bands, having more time on my hands without commuting due to working from home.
I love the history of how Band-Maid got together. Miku (rhythm guitarist) used to work in a Maid Cafe. After a failed Idol career, she decided to fuse the Maid look with hard rock, so in 2013 she started BAND-MAID. Miku found Kanami (lead guitarist) via RUclips. Kanami had a channel where she wrote her own songs and played the guitar. Kanami, in turn, knew Akane (drummer) from having her play the drums on some of her songs. Akane then got Misa (bassist) on board, who she knew from Music school. With this, they were 4. Miku was the lead singer, with Kanami on guitar, Akane on drums, and Misa on bass. They did one gig in 2013 as a 4 piece, but afterwords decided Miku didn't have the type of voice they wanted for a hard rock band, so they did auditions for a lead singer, which is how they picked up Saiki. Bonus fact: They didn't tell Saiki about the Maid outfits, instead telling her just that they would be wearing "some cute clothes". Miku was afraid Saiki wouldn't accept to join if she knew they were going to dress up in Maid outfits. Saiki later confirmed in an interview that if they had told her beforehand about the Maid outfits, she probably wouldn't have joined lol. Good thing they kept it a secret, cause she has an amazing voice. Saiki found out about the Maid outfits literally when she arrived to perform at their first gig as a 5 piece. Here are some recommendations, all of which can be found on their official youtube channel: Live: BAND-MAID / Choose me (Official Live Video) BAND-MAID / DOMINATION (Official Live Video) BAND-MAID / FREEDOM (Official Live Video) BAND MAID / REAL EXISTENCE (Official Live Video) BAND-MAID / onset (Official Live Video) (this one is an instrumental) Music Videos: BAND-MAID / After Life BAND-MAID / Warning! BAND-MAID / Manners BAND-MAID / Dice BAND-MAID / 輪廻 ( RINNE ) BAND-MAID / Blooming
Always fun watching a Band Maid first timer get blown away. Never gets old. 😁👍
Welcome to the Pigeon hole that is Band Maid 🔥✌🏼

@@bartyslattfast You said it! This is the po-fect band!
Welcome to Band Maid Brother! 100+ songs 8+ years. One of best rock and roll band's on the planet! Great Reaction! Rock on!😊😎🤘🤘🤘🤘
Welcome to the Band-Maid black hole… haha… you’ll see. Epic doesn’t even begin to touch the ride you’re on 🤘 Loved this reaction. So many more Band-Maid songs to check out. 🎸
Pigeon Hole.
"Black hole" is much better than the "rabbit hole" that's been frequently used for describing the addiction to this band.
As for info on who they are:
Miku Kobato (Mee-koo): Band founder, rhythm guitarist, main lyricist, and backing vocals. Originally a pop-oriented singer, the band concept was her idea, and went looking for musicians to help bring it to life. She found…
Kanami Touno (Kah-nah-mee): Lead guitarist and main composer/songwriter. A singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Miku found her online performances and reached out. Kanami knew some other musicians from gigs, in particular…
Akane Hirose (Ah-kah-nay): Drummer. She had gigged with Kanami before, and is also a multi-instrumentalist, as well as a music school graduate. When they needed a bass player, Akane reached out to her fellow music school graduate…
MISA (Mee-sah): Bassist. While Kanami does write the majority of the music, when it comes to the bass, she just gives the key and chord changes to MISA, who then writes all of her own parts.
Miku and the band quickly realized that while Miku was (and remains) an excellent singer, she didn’t have a “rock” voice. So she voluntarily stepped back as lead singer, learned to play rhythm guitar from Kanami, and auditioned singers to replace her as the lead vocalist, and she found…
Saiki Atsumi (Sigh-key): Lead vocalist and co-lyricist. When she auditioned, the band didn’t tell her about the maid theme out of fear of scaring her off! But her cool attitude and strong vocals were what the band needed to be complete
That’s the basic rundown, and of course there’s a lot more detail to learn, but the major takeaway is that the band is organic, naturally formed and not put together by some studio, and focused on their craft.
Well put Erik!! This is the best band overview I've seen. And I've seen a lot. Nice touch with the pronunciations.
"How many times do you hear a song where the bass shines/have its moment?"
Pretty much every Band-Maid song.
MISA I like to say plays lead bass
8 seconds after they hit the last stinger for "Play," Kanami rips into the opening chords of "Domination (Live)," and they launch into that, taking this crowd even higher. Oh, hey, you're in luck! There's a live video of that, also on their YT channel. :)

Welcome to the Magic, a lot to unpack but the fans will fill you in as you go.
You have found the most cohesive, versatile and insanely talented group in
rock today.

And many are represented with over 40 well produced music videos. ruclips.net/user/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYU-JI concerts. If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, CD, DVD/BD & Merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo
Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009
Band-Maid members are:
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies.

Band-Maid is an awesome band, my favorite hard rock band. They are just fantastic, thanks for the reaction.
Band Maid = Happiness. It’s that simple.
👍🏼
Your reaction made my day. Reminds me my first exposure to the band. Yes it's a great song from BandMaid. Problem: they only have great songs, so imagine what a bliss is a two-hours concert! I've had that chance (before covid times) and I cherish that moment.
Love the bass shining? That’s every band maid track, although the drums, guitars and vocals shine in each one too. Best band there is right now. Po!
They are rock'n'roll guardian angels and the best hard rock band on the planet 🤘 Keep an eye on them! ️
Dude, you're having WAY too much fun watching this performance :D
I love live recordings where the crowd is really into it. When the girls tell you to sing, you by golly SING! :D
Oh, about Akane the drummer - she got to meet Jimmy Page after a show, and Page told her she sounded like the reincarnation of John Bonham :D
Gotta agreee-----"Manners/Black Hole ! Yessssssssss
Thanks for posting that. I love watching Band-Maid blow away people during the first minute when they watch the band perform live in concert. Congrats, you're the latest in a looong line of unsuspecting listeners, myself included.
Nice to see a reactor who gets the feeling right away. See ya on the next Band-Maid reaction.
Welcome to BANDMAID!
You will see many comments saying “There are no bad songs”! It’s true. They have a huge back catalog and everything has something new to offer.
These woman are keeping Rock alive! (Plus some jazz, metal, prog etc etc) You get the idea.
Try these;

Alone MV
Onset (instrumental genius)
Warning
Puzzle
And many more lol
Enjoy the ride! 🤟🏻
(Fellow Aussie here)
According to Mincho, they have a lot of bad songs. You'll find them in the wastebasket.
@@GlennWH26 lol - yep, rather than filler on an album! 💕🤟🏻
“Play! Shut up!” 😜 Except when the pigeon tells you to sing, then you sing. 😊 Band-Maid are very special and the world ought to know their name.
Greetings from Germany
P.S.: Akane had a meeting with Jimmy Page from Led Zepplin, he saw their show in Tokyo and he wanted to meet her backstage, because he was totally amazed by her, there is a picture of it on the internet, i am pretty sure you will find it.
I have a lefty PRS SE Custom 24...about the only lefty axe PRS makes.
Ah the green PRS Saiki's fav of Kanami's axe stash
@@threemonkeysk Mine is blue.
Welcome to Band Maid VSC!
Heres your Guide for Dummies (Like me!) :p
Once upon a time in Japan....
[Grab a post-it now and paste to your desk - Miku (B/U and Rhythm,) Kaname (Lead) Akane (Drums) Misa (Bass) Saiki (Vocals)]
Putting it together...
Personally, I never could sing and play ha-ha
Their first actual song they wrote and recorded was "Alone".
💯% true
Great comment RWS.👍
I agree there! Just so many fantastic songs, it's hard to even make a spotify list!
That is very true...SCANDAL has the same "problem," trying to play their newer stuff while still giving the fans the songs the paid the admission fee for. I mean, they still end up playing Harukaze and SCANDAL Baby at every gig, even while trying to promo a new album.
I see ZERO problem. Just make the shows 5 hours long. Fixed.
I was thinking of making two shows day after day with completely different setlists, at least for big events!
@@patron40silver funny thing is they could sustain it.
And also "This is my new favourite song".😏
@@GaryHolloway-810 the Band-Maid rule: your favorite song is the last one you heard 😀
Uncontrollable laughter after the first minute of BAND-MAID exposure is the universal reaction.
This reaction made my day! 😎
Since our reactor is already hooked, he can safely skip the training wheels and go straight for crazy shit 😁
Subbed! Looking forward to your journey with this band. They're gonna hit you with so many different styles and sounds and genres, and it's all so good.
Saiki: Lead Vocals
Miku: Backing Vocals/Rhythm Guitar
Kanami: Lead Guitar
MISA: Bass
Akane: Drums
Kanami does the lions share of the composing of songs, but all members contribute in arrangement or other ways.
Im like you when i first heard this song…was so pump up didn’t need any caffeine in my system, chorus is super hype👌🏽
I believe it was Miku herself who decided they needed a stronger vocalist, and that it was primarily Akane suggesting that she learn guitar.
@@Metal_Auditor That's what I heared.
I felt the same way when I found them....years latter..still the same..BRILLIANT.
Awesome reaction! I really enjoy when someone sincerely gets lost in the moment of discovery
Big respect for your ability to still extract individual drum elements and song structure despite the onslaught of joy! I can imagine how well you’ll do when you’re prepared for it
Band-Maid makes us all better listeners of music
Needless to say, Akane is a beast on drums! She incorporates so much talent in each song they play! Her technique is way above average! We love her!
"What is this?" THIS is the best live rock band on the planet.
Thanks! GREAT reaction! I enjoyed too.
Misa on bass
Akane on Drums
Miku on vocals and rhythm guitar
Saiki on Lead vocals
Miku thought of Maids concept.
Bitten on your first song... Band maid doing band maid stuff... The "Gorilla" (Akane the drummer) is a gem.. And everysong has a thick bass line presence.. After all Misa is one of the best.. You need to see Freedom live so the drumming becomes more obvious.. And Lead/bass battles do "Take me higher" and "Turn me on" live.. If you dare.. :) Best wishes from France.;
I can't wait until their pent-up live show energy is finally unleashed on the maidiac fandom!! These girls thrive in a live show and are just, well frankly - the best hard rock band around, and without a doubt the most fun show of any kind going! COVID GO AWAY!!!
You know your in for a good time when you already like the band before the actual song even starts!
Great reaction. I have similar reaction with your when I first time listened to band maid XD. I was so happy that I discoveried this band. DOMINATION (live) would be a good one for next reaction. You will definitely love it XD
Only logical step is to check out the live version of Domination which is the song that goes after Play in this concert.

The live online are not as good without the crowd but still excellent. Their MVs are great too. My first and still favorite is Dice. This is a band with more personal hit songs for me that many other bands put together! I mean they've only been together since 2013 and have as many songs I love as the Beatles! They have a combination of highly talented women with the right sound and know how to hook you in.
nice reaction.Three Japanese female bands, Band-Maid, Love Bites and Nemophila, are popular now.
Typically they have outstanding live videos. Check out Freedom, Onset, and Domination from their World Domination tour. Official Live versions.
Classic rock 2014
2 Sense : The theme song of the anime "Platinum End". Dramatic, fast hard rock with a classic intro. 2021.10
3 Bubble : A tribute to the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, funky rock
4 Different : First anime opening song, new sense of high-speed rock. Anime is Log Horizon 3rd season. 2020.12
5 Daydreaming : Beautiful power ballad. Saiki and Kobato vocals and Kanami's guitar solo are wonderful.
6 Dice : Rhythmic hard rock singing women's independence
7 about us : A gift for fans who cannot meet in a pandemic. Beautiful ballad. 2021.02
8 Freedom : A power rock that walks around the stage and conveys a smile.
The transition from drum solo to lead guitar is the best.
9 Manners : Declaration to create new hard rock while inheriting classic rock. Cool hard rock. Rock'n'Roll never die.
10 alone : The song they wrote, composed and released for the first time. Medium speed Hard Rock 2016
11 Secret My Lips & Secret Maiko Lips : Funky Hard Rock.
Great review, but I would hardly call Kumamoto rural...the Kumamoto Metro Area has nearly 1.5M people. 🙂
I am not your enemy; I largely agree with you about almost everything, but you seem to relish attacking whatever I post. What be the deal with that? I am hardly a J-Pop/J-Rock rookie.
Love the reaction dude. Domination from the same concert is really goo too! You literally can't go wrong with Band-Maid!
Looked it up, and in Japan, Kanami is average female size (5' 1 1/2").
And uhm... where I live, Misa is average height.
@@5Melig I was referring to 5' tall Haruna Ono of SCANDAL. たわごとの袋を食べます!
@@ShikataGaNai100 Did someone just say "Weeaboo"?
'cause I think I just heard someone say "Weeaboo"~
MISA MISA MISA! yep these ladies KNOW how to get the crowd involved I have seen them twice flew from Tullamarine to LAX (via Auckland) to see them in 2019
Dave Glim Spanky just uploaded some songs from their live show :)
@@GaryHolloway-810 ohhh am watching as we speak
I don't say much because I think a lot of people talk about them.Just thank you for knowing Band maid.
Their live 2020 another songs Freedom(long drum solo), Domination, Don't You Tell me(bass/guitar battle), On Set(bass solo), Take Me Higher(bass solo), live 2021 No God(bass solo), Dice(bass solo), Thrill(bass solo),
Bro, check also another all females Metal Band
NEMOPHILA - songs Revive, Hypnosis, Dissension, Raitei(Thunder, best dual guitar solo's and outro)
HANABIE - song We Love Sweets
ASTERISM - songs Faced, Gunfire, Church, Rising Moon, Dawn
All Japanese females Band their drummer is crazy.....
Background: singer/songwriter/guitarist
Akane Hirose -- drummer, graduate of Tokyo School of Music - can also play trombone, band leader (practical organiser). Praised by Led Zeppelin drummer, who came to watch a concert.
MISA -- bass, graduate of Tokyo School of Music - can play trumpet. Plays in stockinged feet (tallest band member)
Saiki Atsumi -- lead vocals, quality control (the song isn't ready until Saiki is happy) Background: singer/dancer
he also got Akane's autograph...
Great Reaction 👍 Welcome to Band Maid 😀
Hope to see you soon again in the marvelous world of band maid.
You can not watch them without smiling. Go ahead....One of the very best "audience" bands. They always interact with them.
Love this song and band. You should do Freedom Live next, you will really get to see the drummer, Akane, shine! Thank you for reacting to this video.
This guy is going to do the "This is my favorite Band Maid song" thing , and I am going to enjoy each one of his reactions!
I had the same reaction as you when I discovered them last year. One thing that was positive about the pandemic was the discovery of many amazing Japanese bands, having more time on my hands without commuting due to working from home.
You have just discovered the best Rock band around right now, welcome down the Band Maid rabbit hole !!!
Late to the party, but we, the Band-Maid Armee, welcome you! ;-)
I love that the band is obviously having fun and aren't affraid to share the spotlight and let each other have a moment to shine and show off.
