You haven't seen anything yet. You know how they say you have to walk before you can run? Band-Maid isn't even crawling here. Check out "Blooming" or "Onset".
By today's BM standards, this is them doing the worm on the floor. By contrast, Black Hole is basically when the girls punch the hyperdrive throttle to ludicrous mode.
This is from 2014!!! I'm going to suggest y'all jump in the deep end and react to "Warning", released last month! Normally I would recommend a live performance, but since Warning is one of B-M's newest songs, you can see how these ladies have come!!!👍👍🤘🤘🤘 BTW, Miku (twin tails, red rose, 2nd vocals, rhythm guitar, lyricist, and band founder) didn't even play guitar when she started B-M (2013). She was originally the lead singer but took a step back and found Saiki to do lead. It was suggested that Miku learn guitar, so Kanami (lead guitar, composer) has been teaching her! She has definitely become amazing at rhythm over the past few years. With Misa (bass) and Akane (drums), this is a world class group of musicians!!!
Live anything is great. I believe Freedom is their most performed song (130ish?) and Domination is up at 110ish. So the band likes to perform them and the crowds love it as well.
I really love the official live performance of "Onset". Though I also quite like the music video for "Domination". Though if you want to see a music video next, I'd recommend "Manners". it is an awesome song, and I think it best showcases what Band-Maid is and who they are. But if you want to see them pull all the stops, try "Different". It will blow your mind.
Another vote for reacting to the live version of these songs (Domination, Onset, Freedom is the order I would pick). Band Maid is great but their live stuff tends to be slightly better. Check out their YT channel BandMaid for the songs. Blooming MV - a bit harder, almost metal, nice finger taps on guitar Play live - also harder, nice instrumental intro, Misa and her bass are on fire Dice mv - rocking intro by Misa and bass, more loud and rock overall. Creepy doll. Guns and Roses style. There's lots more, their whole catalogue is frankly great.
They are in their mid to late twenties in this video...they have been together since 2013 Kanami plays a PRS (lead guitar) Miku plays a Zemaitis Misa plays a Black Cloud Bass Akane plays Tama drums The next song to listen too is either Domination or Freedom...both live performances
This song isn't even their best work. As others have suggested, you really should check out their live versions of Freedom, Domination, Onset, and Play. MISA is a goddess on the bass. Miku and Kanami shred. Akane has received accolades from Jimmy Page on her drumming, going as far as to compare her to the legendary John Bonham. Saiki has the voice of an angel. They're all so technically & musically talented. I can't wait to see them live the next time they tour in the U.S. Definitely one of my favorite discoveries from last year.
"This can't be real?" pretty much the thoughts that have entered our minds the first time we heard a song by them. "Thrill" was my introduction and it got my attention, "Dice" was next and 10 seconds into that song i was hooked and fell into the pigeon hole ever since. They've improved so much over the 7 years that this video came out your jaws will be on the floor. They saved rock and just music in general for me from all the garbage played out in the west. Best band on the planet!
Yeah. Thrill was my first song too. RUclips kept recommending them until I finally relented and gave them a try. It was good, it was good. And then the bass solo and the guitar. That was when I was hooked. I'm a sucker for a good female guitarist.
I'm a 61 year old Maidiac. Been hooked since I seen the MV Thrill and I have just been watching a live MV ( About Us) which was written by Miku to all the Maidiac Fans. Very Strong Emotional Song. Band Maid is Phenomenal in so many ways..Their Musicianship is second to none. Their that GOOD.The more watch the more you'll know how Great Band Maid is..
"Manners", video released last month, will let you listen to their more recent sound. Beyond that, live performances are always amazing, just pick any song.
"This can't be real can it???" was my exact reaction when I first discovered this band. You could've chosen any other of their songs and would've still been blown away.
My first was the older version of Play, live, and I was the same way. I rewound the first 40 seconds or so 5 times, at least, just trying to see if they were actually playing their instruments.
> You could've chosen any other of their songs That's the thing: it's impossible to point out their "best" song. Every song is killer, and every song is different and unique. They are not just amazing musicians, but also amazing song writers. They never take the easy road, but always layer a lot of extras on top, that didn't really need to be there, but adds so much more.
Me: an old(66) rocker headbanger. Judas Priest was my number one favorite band. BAND-MAID has taken their place as my all time #1. And LOVEBITES is right there, waiting to move to #2 position.
You have a great rabbit hole to go down. Miku Kobato - band founder, rhythm guitar, backing/second vocals, main lyricist. The band is her brainchild. She’s their spokesperson and closest to a mascot the band has. She created the concept during her time working in a Japanese “maid cafe” and after an online search, found... Kanami Tono - Lead guitar and main composer/songwriter. Multi-instrumentalist herself (plays drums and keys too). She has a demure energy, but onstage becomes a beast. Recruited her frequent session drummer... Akane Hirose - Drummer, and behind the scenes is probably their dorkiest member. Big appetite, big personality, and big hits on the kit. She brought in her music school friend... MISA - bassist, bass composer, and known as the “barefoot assassin”, since she kills it on bass while playing barefoot on stage. Usually seen with whiskey on stage (though Miku is apparently the real rock n roll drinker of the band), she acts shy, but is probably the silliest one behind the scenes. This was the original lineup, with Miku as lead vocals. But very early she realized her voice wasn’t right for the sound she wanted, so they auditioned people for a new lead singer, and she moved herself to backing vocals and rhythm guitar (literally didn’t know how to play guitar at that point, and was being taught by Kanami). The band found... Saiki Atsumi - Lead vocals and vocal arranger. Known as The Ice Queen, she is the leader on stage, but very quiet off stage. She is the quiet and cool counterpart to Miku’s bubbly and bright personality.
Thanks for reacting, formed in 2013 by Rhythn Guitarist and vocalist Miku Kobato. Seven Major releases so far three mini albums and four full albums with the last released Digitally on the 13th January this year With a Physical release on the 20th January. The idea behind the band is the contrast between the visuals and then the sound and also the sound and the lyrics. Members (ages between 24 to 30) Akane Hirose ;- Drums (A-chan. the beast,Gorilla) Saiki Atsume :- Vocals (Sai-chan) MISA :- Bass :- (the Assasin. Misa, Misa, Misa) Kanami Tono :- Guitars (Mincho, main songwriter) Miku Kobato :- Rhythm Guitar, Vocals, Lyricist (Small Pigeon, wide shoulders, strong grip, Karuppo) Kobato in Japanese can be interpreted as small pigeon and Miku never met a pun she didn't like or a chance to mess with peoples heads Po!!. Also they have a slightly twisted sense of humour, for example the single Alone was released on Valentines day, and for the last two years on April fools day they rename themselves, the bands social media as Band Maiko where they dress as apprentice geisha's and release a video of a song written in the geisha dialect with some traditional instruments in it. Relentless live band due to having played basically anywhere they could plug in they also tend to add extra parts to the songs live , The costumes might have got their foot in the door but they have earned what they have gotten the old fashioned way, Worked hard, Toured hard, and constantly look to improve. Best live rock band today. Band Maid are incredible. This was their first hit. Their catalogue of songs are all great, each and every song. They are even way better then this song now. Because Kanami, lead guitarist composes the songs, Misa, and Akane write respective bass and drums, Miku and Saikei write lyrics. This song was their first hit. This song is great, but their songs are all much better. Puzzle, Domination, Freedom, Play, Moratorium, Warning, Manners, all great songs to try. Onset a live instrumental is a work of art, a true masterpiece. You want drums, oh, boy, so many far better songs. Akane is a beast on the kit. Akane, and Tamu of Nemophila, are my favorite drummers now. But I am a Kanami fan, love how she structures songs, and guitar parts. Puzzle( live) Kanami has so many guitar riffs, other bands could write many songs out of. Domination, and Freedom, you want the live versions. Blooming has fast drums, incredible Kanami solo, beautiful harmony vocal break down.
... to quote Bachman Turner Overdrive: "you ain't seen nothing yet" . This is great, but it was a band in its infancy. A bit like watching The Beatles playing "Love Me Do".
Thanks so much for finally doing a BAND-MAID song (this is one of their earlier videos and is weak compared to the newer stuff). You have now opened yourself up to a comment onslaught from the Maidiacs out there (me too). This ladies are even better live. They have a huge number of songs already but just to get into them I would recommend the live versions of "Domination" and "Freedom"(drum solo). Have fun and enjoy 😀🤘💕
Welcome to the party guys! These girls are amazing,... I ran across a video of the drummer, and thought,...she's phenomenal!! That led me to the video you just watched,... this was back in like 2010 or something?? Not sure,... but it was a while ago! Since then I have looked them up for new material and have never been disappointed!
Somehow this popped up in my RUclips feed today, I'd never seen this channel before, nor heard of this band, nor even been watching music-like content for quite a few months near as I can recall. Good Lord, I'm so glad this video made its way into my feed out of the blue! Instantly subscribed to this channel and also to Band Maid and Lovebites. How did I not know this was missing from my life?
Aah that is such an epic comment! Thank you! We felt the same about these bands. They are amazing! Glad we could point you in the direction of some good music. Enjoy!😁
@@SongsandThongs Thank you! And I guess......thanks RUclips? Feels odd to say that LOL, but in this case the algorithm worked well! *scratches my head*
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single BAND-MAID song. Forget walking, you better start running to catch up. You haven't seen anything yet! Try 'Rinne', 'Domination' live, ''Real Existence' live, 'Onset' live. And those aren't even their most recent songs. I could list songs all day long, but just watch anything from their channel. It's all good!
Oh, you're going to enjoy this trip so, so much. Their skill, their complexity, and their joy playing together just has gotten better and better since this MV!
This is a veryvery old song by them, you should check out their present songs, like Manners, Warning, After life, Blooming, Rinne, The Droagon Cries, Onset, Domination... and the list goes on.
Kanami (lead guitar) is just a genius songsmith. And adding Miku's lyrics and input from the rest of this ultra talented band, it's all GOLD. Looking forward to more reactions! Po!
Welcome, everything about this band will make you smile, there story, musicianship, song writing, vocals, are all outstanding ! They have come a long way since this video, enjoy !😎
I won’t rehash what everyone else is already saying except that you should check out their most recent stuff, either “Warning!” or “After Life.” They have only gotten better over the past 7 years.
I think Band-Maid is now one of the best hard rock band. Their songs are all so creative and they’re extremely talented. My favorite song is Manners, that is so groovy. And other suggestions are Blooming(mv),Dice(mv),Daydreaming(mv),Domination(live video) and Onset(live video). these are all on their official RUclips.
So, lol, welcome to the throng of "Band-Maidiacs" if you would like to see their progression, check out "Turn me on, live Zepp Tokyo, or "Puzzle" live, then you can further progress to more recent. I can say that their music catalog is jam packed with awesome music. The more you hear them, the more you'll be hooked. Strap in!!!
That was the first music video they did, and sense than they have gotten even better. Here is a shortlist of songs if you two want to do more and try a live video. Domination (official live video) who doesn't get a solo Onset (official live video) Instrumental. Freedom (official live video) drum solo Warning (official music video) is off of their newest album Unseen World. To see them from there the first video to one of their latest video Manners (official music video) it’s also off of their newest album. This one has a nice hard rock with a groove. Rinne (official music video) it’s one of their Heaviest songs have.
Glad to see you were both Thrilled with this MV. They are a phenomenal band. Just wait til the Maidiacs comes in to tell you...so I'll just stop. Thanks for checking them out.
Welcome to the world of BAND-MAID. Now that you have been exposed and the fans have spoken in mass you have to check out live performances where they really shine, from their RUclips channel (most have CC now) - Play, Domination, Real Existence, Onset, Freedom etc etc etc and MV's - Rinne, Blooming, Manners, Warning, After Life etc etc etc. You will be amazed and always have a smile on your face.
Welcome to BAND-MAID the best HARD-ROCK band on this planet. I see by reading the comments that the fan-base unofficially known as Madiacs are on patrol, reliable and always give sound advice.
You guys have found one of the best bands out there, this was their first MV, actually this band is superb, this is a little taste of the amazing world of BAND-MAID. I hope you will soon react to more videos from these talented ladies, best regards.
I want to be among those to welcome you down the rabbit hole. Be sure to explore the Band-Maid catalog because it's filled with all kinds of goodies and styles.
I found Band-Maid about two years ago while being bored at work watching silly Japanese Music videos. (see Baby Metal "Gimme Chocolate"). They kept popping up in my recommendations, but the thumbnail clearly showed them wearing silly Maid costumes. But hey, that day I was watching silly videos. OMFG! is all I can say. After you watch and listen to these musicians you will never think of them as silly. The first thing I focused in on was the Drummer. I had assumed this was just another Pop-Idol group where the girls just sing and dance, looking cute as they do their thing. But from the first ("Start Over") the Drummer was clearly playing. It went from this kind of light guitar pop to slowly built up piece that had me clicking on the next one on the list: "Thrill." A total throwback to 80s Hard Rock nearly Metal. The drummer is sprinkling in double pedals and just keeping it rock solid. At this point I'm impressed and had to keep going. "Real Existence" is what put me over the edge. Akane (I had read the comments to find out her name at this point) goes completely Keith Moon wild on the drums while never losing control. Each verse, each chorus and the guitar solo all have multiple sub sections on the drums, and it is simply amazing. Simple, but ever moving, changing and perfectly locked into the rest of the music. So, after watching every last official video on their channel multiple times, made my first iTunes purchase EVER (and first money spent on new music in DECADES) I called up a friend of mine who had played guitar professionally in Japan back in the 90s. "Dude, I just found THE MOST AMAZING Japanese band! and they're all girls! and all dressed up li...." "Oh, you found Band-Maid, here, let me send you a link" ONSET. I think I cried. I've not been THIS into a band since first learning to play drums listening to Rush. They are THAT good.
I know where you're coming from...my journey crammed into the last 8 months. Bought pretty much everything they've released. With MISA's bass and Onset...I find myself almost neglecting Geddy and YYZ :-) BTW: I did see BabyMetal live, supporting Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and man...they near stole the show...awesome energy and solid backing band...but I ain't bought their shiny discs.
I cries, Po! The "unseen World" in effect here. It's been a while since I've seen this "usual" reaction. South Africa, you guys are keepers, sub'd. Be warned! Band Maid Battalion will arrive, immediately, Po! Don't resist, Po! Just a side note, in their 2/11/2021 online concert called "Okyu-ji," the demographics showed that there was 67 countries represented, and SA was well represented. Welcome aboard, Po! BTW, someone will eventually tell you about the Po! thing soon, Po! I'm tapped out! Had too much fun with you guys, Po! I just had to drop one more thing. Miku (backup vocal, founder, rhythm guitar, small pigeon) wore the Rickenbacher 620, I think, as an accessory here in this MV. She didn't really know how to play the guitar. Kanami (lead guitar and lead composer) is her teacher. Miku plays a Zemaitis now. The rest, I'll let you experience and comment on her progress in her playing.
Thrill is their first MV and first real recording contract. Now look up any of their MV's or live videos and you will see what they are really all about. Best rock band in the world IMHO :}
What's up guys. 3 weeks after this review and not a follow up..you love the band and so do fans in at least 66 countries.. Do yourself a favour and continue the journey. Here's the list again..all live Real Existence,Onset in 2018 Dont you tell me MV's. Rinne,Bubble,Warning,Manners,Daydreaming. They're all different. One of the most wanted live bands. Phenomenal musicianship covering a diverse range of genres which attracts a wide range of fans/Maidiacs. Japan is producing some of the greatest talent in the world,in particular, female talent that have to be seen to be believed. Time for that next upload guys..watch those subs and hits skyrocket with more of The Maids clips. It's guaranteed!
My favorite Band. This is their first MV from many years ago. It can be hard to pick a favorite song as every song is very different and will become your next favorite. Live tracks from their channel are great and if I had to choose between a studio MV or live I would pick the live in most cases. I look forward to your next Band Maid reaction.
Great reaction! 4 years ago after listening to what K-pop is about, Band Maid "Thrill" appeared. I saw pretty women in maid outfits and clicked on them. I've been addicted ever since. I grew up on classic rock. Band Maid is the best band going. They have no bad songs and they are better live. You have plenty of great material to review.
"Thrill" remains a great showcase for their music. Even years after it's release, I can still go back and enjoy its raw energy, great riff(s) clever solos and sheer entertainment value. - And they keep on making great songs time after time after time. In years to come, Band Maid be ranked alongside some of the most iconic, influential and legendary bands.
Thrill and its MV are great...and must have seemed like all Miku's dreams come true at the time. I only just learned that she did contribute to the lyrics of this song too.
This is 7 years ago. Since then the singer SAIKI had a voice operation and has just turned 27yo and sounds completely different. Their official live videos are unbelievable. They sound better live than most other bands do in the studio. For a drum solo try FREEDOM from the LINE cube in SHIBUYA. New album is just out MANNERS IS POPULAR. Older songs that get a lot of views are DICE and BLOOMING. They also do acoustic versions. LISTENING to the regular version of PUZZLE and the acoustic version of PUZZLE back to back is really good. Their interviews are funny because they are quite nutty. I will take too long to explain all of their quirks but one of them thinks she's a pigeon and I'm not even joking. THERE is another really good Japanese all girl band called NEMOPHILA. they are just starting but have just released an album and they are all from other bands. One of them is from MARY'S BLOOD. try SORAI, OIRAN or even one of their covers because they are really good.
If you guys like Band-Maid you should probably also check out "Bridear" ... look for a song, the studio version, of "ignite". Very similar poppy metal feel.
My favorite band out at the moment! These ladies rock! The reason no particular songs were recommended is because they are all that good! Warning, After Life, Manners are new releases this year. The newest is a love song to the fans called About Us! Band-Maid live will surprise you with how good they are! The Maidiac army will be along with more information, Po! The idea from the founder of the band, Miku (rhythm guitar and backing vocals), was what she call the "gap" between the look and the sound. Kanami, lead guitar and song writer, is sponsored by PRS now. Misa, the bass, is call the Barefoot Assassin, as she plays barefoot now. Akane, the drummer, after Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin met her after a live performance and compared her to John Bonham! Saiki is the lead singer and has only gotten better! I've been captivated by this amazing group of skilled and talented ladies, they are so great! The road is long and rewarding, Band-Maid is amazing, Po! Welcome to the Pigeon hole!
B-B-B-B-Baby you aint seen nuthin yet..... loved you reaction and subbed, lookin forward to more Band-Maid...best rock band since Guns N Roses imo. there are NO bad songs! 110+ to choose from. Hard to believe this band began with an 810 yr old Pigeon that worked in a Maid Cafe. tru story! po ;) they are truly loved by classic rock fans throughout the world. World Domination is happening...the last live online concert had fans from 67 countries tune in. PS my second favorite band is Lovebites. best heavy metal band currently imo. superb skills! you will soon discover there is no shortage of incredible musicians in Japan. seemingly endless supply of super talented drummers, bassist and guitarists. Thank You Japan!! this rocker loves you!
Best ROCK Band off the last decade without reservation. Best "served" LIVE! Pick any song. (60 year uk Prog enthusiast) :) Enyoy! (Kicking myself for always looking to the West for New Music. In Japan rock NEVER died), there's loads more bands over there, but I listen to more Band Maid than even PF, LZ, YES et 'al .....
They are the most beautiful and amazing band on the planet and you haven't seen or heard anything yet. They blend all kinds of genres seamlessly and fearlessly. Check out Domination live, or Warning music video, Manners music video, Blooming, Play live, Rinne MV.....They have so many amazing songs, I had pretty much given up on new music until I found them 3 years ago!!!! I am a 68 year old jazz fusion prog rock drummer and these girls constantly amaze me.
seriously, theres gotta be something in the water... between band maids and lovebites im sold on the japanese metal/hard rock EPICNESS. wow. i mean, W-O-W......
It's real, and they've gotten A LOT better over the years. Check out Domination (Feb 14 2020 live), or one of the music videos from the most recent album.
Welcome to your next obsession. :D Come on in to the Maid Cafe, the coffee is quite good here. ;) So, quick Band-Maid primer for you: Saiki (sigh-key) - lead singer Miku Kobato (mee-coo)- guitar, backing vocals Kanami (kah-nam-me)- lead guitar Akane (ah-kahn-eh) - drums MISA - bass. (yes, she stylizes her name in all caps) Band-Maid formed in 2013 under the idea of Miku Kobato, a former underground idol and Japanese Maid Cafe worker. She had the thought to merge the sounds of rock and roll with the aesthetic of a maid cafe.... hence... Band-Maid. :) She found Kanami online who was working as a singer/songwriter in small clubs/cafes and writing stuff for other artists. Kanami had worked with Akane doing some gigs as back up musicians for other artists in cafes and clubs. Akane went to music school with MISA and brought her along. The final piece of the pigeon puzzle was Saiki. Saiki was an aspiring singer/dancer/actress (18ish at the time, iirc) employed by the same talent agency as Miku. The 4 of them auditioned Saiki and liked her sound. The rest is history. They now have 4 studio albums and several EPs and mini-albums. They have over 100 songs under their aprons now including a side project known as Band-Maiko (I'll let you discover that fantastic gem for yourselves). If you're interested in hearing more of them I would suggest going in order of oldest to newest songs on their official RUclips channel. Its is worth the investment to see how the band has progressed over the years. Needless to say, "Thrill" isn't even an appetizer for the amazing sonic meal you're about to taste. Good luck, god speed and welcome to the best band you'd never heard of before now. :)
This is their first song, I suggest you do live versions of songs like "band-maid- Onset (live instrumental)" or freedom (live) or choose me (live) or real existance (live)
Enjoyed your Babymetal reaction enough to subscribe so very pleased to see you've also discovered another brilliant band from Japan, Band-Maid. This video was from a few years ago and not written by them, although it's still great. Just for a moment, forget they're all female and forget they're dressed as maids. Two members (MISA - Bass, Akane - Drums) are classically trained pianists and musicians who studied at the Tokyo Academy of Music while Kanami, the lead guitarist, has also been playing piano since the age of 3 or 4 but is concert standard (almost unbelievably, given her skills, she only switched to guitar about 10 years ago!) They all have superb musical ability as well as passion, a lack of ego and the drive to play real, in your face, Rock which is why they are THE best live Rock band on Earth right now. OK, now that's explained, you can go back and marvel at how cute those outfits look and how incredibly beautiful all the band members are. The only band I've seen that is playing live like bands I went to see in the 70's, such as Led Zeppelin or Sabbath or Zappa. Music they write themselves, real guitars, drums and bass played loudly and with passion as well as powerful Rock vocals. They are all really close friends and know how to have fun together on stage, confident as they are in each others’ abilities and skills. They've revived the classic Rock sound and given the genre a much needed kick in the ass, as Babymetal have done for Metal. Future reactions I'd recommend, as they really shine brightest live, would be from the DVD they released in April. FREEDOM: ruclips.net/video/FHpuEqMAcDg/видео.html , PLAY: ruclips.net/video/3LxX_t4vg7U/видео.html , CHOOSE ME: ruclips.net/video/HcqitbXgigU/видео.html , DOMINATION: ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.html and WONDERLAND: ruclips.net/video/x4hxLeHbqZo/видео.html , though they have superb music videos too
Band-Maid? I recommend everything they've ever done. :D Because they're all just that talented. I'd also recommend Lovebites, for something a little heavier. Japanese all female power metal.
Welcome to the Band Maid pigeon hole. Wait until you see the live stuff. This was just the beginning. It gets so much better. Also, MISA! MISA! MISA! you'll learn what that means the more you watch. If you liked the drums, definitely watch the live version of "Freedom".
Best rock and roll band in the world today! I've played in Nashville for over 20 years and they're as good as anyone! Next anything live. I would go with Domination. Freedom. Dice. Don't tell me. Plus they have a couple of songs as Band Mako. More traditional sound and dress. Band Maid Forever!
They are such an amazingly technical and skilled band. As a lot have said, this was very early in their career and they have only gotten better. Amazing energy and sound live as well. I was disappointed how long I slept on this guys because I thought they were more a gimmick band, but they are really so talented and fun.
Jimmy page requested to meet Akane the drummer after a show. She thought people were playing a joke on her, but it was real. He said she is one of the best drummers he has ever heard.
Some people don't care much for the maid theme but I love it. It was Miku's concept and you can tell by her writing that she is very very maternal towards her fans. All of them care greatly for the fans. So the maid theme is just right for them. They can be trusted to sweep the covid blues away. Riffs will shine on the darkest days. Melodies will enchant the unclean people's words from my mind.
MIKU started the band and plays retheme guitar and backing vocals she also writes most of the lyrics. KANAMI writes all of the music and thought MIKU how to play guitar 7 years ago. AKANE on drums and MISA on bass make a retheme section that is unbeatable. You then add SAIKI on vocals and you have a band that if they were in the US would be the number one band in the world by now. A Brief History: MIKU started the band and came up with the maid concept than found KANAMI online and asked her to join the band. KANAMI brought AKANE in from sessions she had played on. AKANE brought MISA in they went to the same music school and played in the same band and did session work. MIKU (small pigeon) PO didn’t think her voice was good enough so the band auditioned vocalist and found SAIKI and MIKU stepped down from lead vocals and learned how to play guitar from KANAMI now you have BAND-MAID. As for videos to watch any live video will rock you. Daydreaming Freedom Onset Manners about us Choose me DOMINATION Blooming Bubble These are just a few I think you should take a look at that shows their range.
This is their first song, I suggest you do live versions of songs like "band-maid- Onset (live instrumental)" or freedom (live) or choose me (live) or real existance (live) or blooming (Music video) There is a lot more to choose from lol
The more I listen to these girls the more I like them. At first I was a bit put off that they don't have any songs in english, but I can tell that they're a very good band and the singer has a great voice. This song sealed the deal for me.
From here I'd recommend watching their progression since you hopped in at their first video. Next up I'd suggest "Real Existence" followed by "Non-Fiction Days" into "Alone"...then off to the races with their live performances. Welcome to the rabbit hole....or "pigeon" hole...strange story :)
This is actually my favorite song from this group all the women are very talented and beautiful they have a great thing together their sound is one that I love but honestly the band BABYMETAL will always be my number one band in the world true to my heart❤️❤️❤️.
'This is EPIC' No truer words been spoken. Welcome to the fandom. :) Check out the following songs of theirs: Bubble, Manners, Dice, Blooming & Domination (live)
This is the first song by them. They are monsters now.
Well not their first song, they had a whole album before the album this song came on. This was their first Music Video.
@@roygillotti4615 oh my mistake, ty
Yes, not the first song, but it’s the MV that made a lot of people sit up and take notice.
Well, for the first video 6 years ago we are blown away!
This was the first song that put them on the path of harder rock. Their first album was more pop-rock.
Ha ha! Well, they managed to crawl into our hearts straight away, so with the next song I suppose they will run away with us! #can'twait!
Blooming is insaneeeeee
i love its guitar arrangement
This is *_Band-Maid_* and they play relentless quality Rock N' Roll!!
Your soul belongs to five Japanese girls now, resistance is futile!
They are even better live. Check out Domination or Freedom live.
and turn on subtitles on domination as it has English lyrics.. Manners their new one does as well
Added to our to do list. Thanks for the recommendations. 😁
definitely watch Domination live. the solos are insane!!!!!!
@@ivanboston8582 It's so hard to try and read subtitles and listen to the music. Only song I recommend subtitles on is About Us.
@@patron40silver you can read them the second time around
Finding Band Maid is like hitting the Rock Band Jackpot. As hundreds of other comments have said, enjoy the journey.
I might have to agree with you on that! Ha ha!
Loving them so far, so can't wait to hear all their songs!
I was gonna give you a little background information but Soba Braddah757 has covered it nicely.
Welcome to the pigeon hole. You've tapped into one of the best of two bands on earth. Catch lovebites also. Holy war live
Somebody else pointed out they're basically a supergroup without the angle of any of them having previously been in any other band.
@@stevehall5128 It was FATE!
If you liked this video you really need to check out their live versions of "Freedom", "Domination" and "Onset" (the last one being an instrumental).
Live anything is great. I believe Freedom is their most performed song (130ish?) and Domination is up at 110ish. So the band likes to perform them and the crowds love it as well.
Yes exactly, they've grown soo MUCH!
And Puzzle, and Play, and Manners, etc. etc.......
I really love the official live performance of "Onset". Though I also quite like the music video for "Domination". Though if you want to see a music video next, I'd recommend
"Manners". it is an awesome song, and I think it best showcases what Band-Maid is and who they are.
Blooming MV - a bit harder, almost metal, nice finger taps on guitar
Play live - also harder, nice instrumental intro, Misa and her bass are on fire
Dice mv - rocking intro by Misa and bass, more loud and rock overall. Creepy doll. Guns and Roses style.
There's lots more, their whole catalogue is frankly great.
Best rocking maids in the world right now.
They are now on the verge of conquering the world...
They are in their mid to late twenties in this video...they have been together since 2013
Kanami plays a PRS (lead guitar)
Miku plays a Zemaitis
Misa plays a Black Cloud Bass
Akane plays Tama drums
The next song to listen too is either Domination or Freedom...both live performances
Added those songs to our to do list thanks! I really wish we can see them live one day!
Same for me thrill dice then play live the one from studio coast
You don't want them to listen to "About Us" until they're fans though... Its not their regular music.
@@firebirdguy3151 this is true David. The more they listen the more they learn just how phenomenal Band Maid is and continues to be..
love about us
Every react video on About Us ends up with the reactors utterly speechless and some in emotional tears.
57 year old new Maidiac
Okay you found the rabbit hole, now dive into the Live videos! Domination, Freedom, Play, Onset. Plus the MV for Rinne and Dice.
"Manners", video released last month, will let you listen to their more recent sound. Beyond that, live performances are always amazing, just pick any song.
"This can't be real can it???" was my exact reaction when I first discovered this band. You could've chosen any other of their songs and would've still been blown away.
Probably even more blown away, but I love when people start with "Thrill" because they really get to see the growth of the band.
My first was the older version of Play, live, and I was the same way. I rewound the first 40 seconds or so 5 times, at least, just trying to see if they were actually playing their instruments.
@@patron40silver Every YT reactor who's a musician: "Ok wait, I gotta go back and hear that part again" several times per song. :D
@@stevehall5128 I'm no musician. I just play one on TV. ^G!
> You could've chosen any other of their songs
That's the thing: it's impossible to point out their "best" song.
Screeeeeeamin', Screamin for vengence!
Victim of chaaaaaanges!!!
Lovebites slaaaayss!!! But I still freaking love Band-Maid. haha
I saw Priest recently and Sabaton opened. They were very good, but I keep imagining how the crowd of thousands would have reacted to Band-Maid
Members (ages between 24 to 30)
Akane Hirose ;- Drums (A-chan. the beast,Gorilla)
Saiki Atsume :- Vocals (Sai-chan)
MISA :- Bass :- (the Assasin. Misa, Misa, Misa)
Kanami Tono :- Guitars (Mincho, main songwriter)
Miku Kobato :- Rhythm Guitar, Vocals, Lyricist (Small Pigeon, wide shoulders, strong grip, Karuppo) Kobato in Japanese can be interpreted as small pigeon and Miku never met a pun she didn't like or a chance to mess with peoples heads Po!!.

From JAPAN ■ Introducing BAND MAID and the latest news. (^^♪ ★ They have over 100 fascinating songs.
Thank you for Reaction BAND MAID. BAND MAID is a 5-member girls rock band. They are hard rock band and are now considered by fans to be one of the best hard rock bands in the world. They usually perform 23 songs and 2 hours live. They were formed in Japan in 2013 by side guitarist Miku Kobato. Kobato had experience working at a maid cafe in Akihabara Tokyo and had the idea of playing cool songs with a maid costume. That's why the band was named Band-Maid. "Thrill" was their first music video in 2014, played 2 million times in two weeks and saved them from breaking up. At that time they were just around 19-22 years old. And then they have been doing LIVE overseas and increasing their fans. Now they are writing, composing and arranging all the songs. 35 songs have been released on their official RUclips, all of which are killer songs.
The new song "Different" released in December last year has become the theme song for the anime "Log Horizon 3rd Season".
BAND MAID's online full live December 13th. Full scale live is 2 hours. 23 songs are played and there is also their cute conversation. ★Ticket site: l-tike.zaiko.io/e/bandmaid1213 ★You can watch it with anyone at any time until March 13th, Japan time .They released a new album 14 songs "Unseen World" in January 20 .

Thrill is an excellent song but it's BAND-MAID on training wheels compared to where they are now. I saw you tweet at the online show, Doc :)
@@patron40silver I love "Band-Maid on training wheels" - the image is stuck in my brain now 😄
I like that analogy! (i might steal it) 🙂
@@johnmatthew102 I'm glad to share with you, John.
Ha ha! We all need some training weels at some stage. Although their talent still shines through, so I know we are gonna enjoy this journey!
Listen ONSET in live (Band Maid), no words exist to explain how good it is!!!

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single BAND-MAID song.
Forget walking, you better start running to catch up. You haven't seen anything yet! Try 'Rinne', 'Domination' live, ''Real Existence' live, 'Onset' live. And those aren't even their most recent songs. I could list songs all day long, but just watch anything from their channel. It's all good!

This was their first Music Video from seven years ago, they've got a ton better. And that says a lot since this was really good.
Po!

Check out their other songs : Rinne, Blooming, After Life, Warning!, Domination

This song was their start point, and they have evolved to another level now. Please react any new songs of them, especially the live version.
Can't wait to hear the newer songs and everyone has been saying to check the live, so consider it done. 😁

This is their first official music video back in 2014 that started it all.
I'm speechless. These Ladies ROCK-N-ROLL and I'm going to listen to more of their music. I will buy their music.
Love Band-Maid.
This too was my first BAND-MAID song. Love these ladies.♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Blooming is my personal favorite from the Maids.
Band-Maid Warning and After-Life would be a good place for you to see where they are today musically.
seriously, theres gotta be something in the water...
between band maids and lovebites im sold on
the japanese metal/hard rock EPICNESS.
wow. i mean, W-O-W......
It's real, and they've gotten A LOT better over the years. Check out Domination (Feb 14 2020 live), or one of the music videos from the most recent album.
Welcome to your next obsession. :D Come on in to the Maid Cafe, the coffee is quite good here. ;)
So, quick Band-Maid primer for you:
Saiki (sigh-key) - lead singer
Miku Kobato (mee-coo)- guitar, backing vocals
Kanami (kah-nam-me)- lead guitar
Akane (ah-kahn-eh) - drums
MISA - bass. (yes, she stylizes her name in all caps)
Band-Maid formed in 2013 under the idea of Miku Kobato, a former underground idol and Japanese Maid Cafe worker.
Hahaha, there's alot more to come!!!! Many many good tracks, that any band would die for......the girls have grown so hang out to your hats.
This is 7 years old. Their latest stuff is just amazing.
Welcome to the Band Maid pigeon hole. Wait until you see the live stuff. This was just the beginning. It gets so much better. Also, MISA! MISA! MISA! you'll learn what that means the more you watch. If you liked the drums, definitely watch the live version of "Freedom".
Best band in the world. Don't believe me? These guys will tell you.
+1 waiting for the rest to arrive
@@xagorvangard I'm here and agreeing with patron...absolutely best band in the world!!!👍👍🤘🤘🤘
Present, lol.
Sorry I'm late but you are 💯% correct 🤙🏽
Best band on the planet, bar none.
The Live Versions of 'Domination' and 'Freedom', and from the new Album 'Manners' and 'Warning!'. But honestly, almost every song is great.
Welcome to the family. There is so much ahead for you to enjoy.
"Just a girl band"? 😲🤤....🤣 Relishing those words are about to be eaten... Just the best rock band on the planet! 😅✌
They also have slower but still hard hitting tracks.
Daydreaming mv
Endless Story mv
Wonderland live
About us live mv
They are such an amazingly technical and skilled band. As a lot have said, this was very early in their career and they have only gotten better. Amazing energy and sound live as well. I was disappointed how long I slept on this guys because I thought they were more a gimmick band, but they are really so talented and fun.
LIVE !!! Freedom Live, ONSET Live (this one instrumental). They are great live !!
Fantastic guitar and Bass solo
A Brief History:
MIKU started the band and came up with the maid concept than found KANAMI online and asked her to join the band.
Daydreaming
Freedom
Onset
Manners
about us
Choose me
DOMINATION
Blooming
Bubble
These are just a few I think you should take a look at that shows their range.
This is their first song, I suggest you do live versions of songs like "band-maid- Onset (live instrumental)" or freedom (live) or choose me (live) or real existance (live) or blooming (Music video)
There is a lot more to choose from lol
The more I listen to these girls the more I like them. At first I was a bit put off that they don't have any songs in english, but I can tell that they're a very good band and the singer has a great voice. This song sealed the deal for me.
From here I'd recommend watching their progression since you hopped in at their first video. Next up I'd suggest "Real Existence" followed by "Non-Fiction Days" into "Alone"...then off to the races with their live performances.
Welcome to the rabbit hole....or "pigeon" hole...strange story :)
You guys popped up on me, freaking CooL, cause I just found another band to follow. So F'n Good
This is actually my favorite song from this group all the women are very talented and beautiful they have a great thing together their sound is one that I love but honestly the band BABYMETAL will always be my number one band in the world true to my heart❤️❤️❤️.
'This is EPIC' No truer words been spoken. Welcome to the fandom. :)
Check out the following songs of theirs: Bubble, Manners, Dice, Blooming & Domination (live)
