I have an F80 but will be the first to admit the B58 and the ZF 8HP is a potent combination. It's almost impossible to compare cars of this caliber. We're living through the golden years of BMW I6's and it's glorious. The next generation will look back like we do to the RX7, 2JZ and Godzilla.

I just picked up a 2013 335i a few weeks ago as the new daily. Absolutely love it and it’s perfect for me since I have to drive up to 700 miles per week for work, and the places I have to go sometimes would definitely be sketchy to have an M 😭 will be driving the 335i til I can get the f30 340i, which is just the dream daily, looks better than g20 imo. Still have an e30 325ix w the 5 speed for the weekend car.
I have the M340i and love it, can’t wait to drive every day, wanted to go up to the M3 for more hp since I live in Cali and don’t mod my cars but was worried about the M3 not being as good as a daily.
As far as comfortability in a daily, the M340i is de wei 😂. Plus you get the newer tech. A custom tune and high flow dp is all you need to get into F80 power
F80 is the only choice. Better seats, better brakes, much better looks, carbon bit and roof everywhere, The chassis are completely different, as such the driving dynamics are completely different, the DCT and M LSD combine to create a unique beast of a car, that must be tamed by the driver. The M has a so much grip - much more planted in the corners. I owned a F30 (n55 FBO) and upgraded to the F80…. The revs to 7.2k with little lag or torque reduction feels NA, the drivetrain is incredible although like a rabid animal trying to kill you every chance it gets. F30 vs F80 is like comparing apples and oranges
@@Trithij I do agree that it sounds really bad and raspy stock but if you look up some videos you'll see people have come up with some ways to make it sound great. That being said, you shouldn't have to modify the exhaust to make it not sound bad on a $100k car, but such is life. They're both great cars.
Awesome comparison on two sick cars. For the b58 transmission, have you considered making changes in the XHP shift map editor? You can manually configure the shift points meaning that you can tailor the transmission performance (e.g. hold a certain gear for longer/shorter or downshift quicker/slower). I’m running XHP stage 3 with a very similar setup (stock HPFP, intake, dp, cat-back exhaust, BM3 stg 2) and just started experimenting with the shift maps. Really didn’t know there was so much you could configure in XHP when I initially got it. Definitely a must with a tuned car imo.
Thanks a lot for the support!! Yeah it’s crossed my mind ever since I flashed it with XHP. Honestly just a bit intimidated by the process 🤣🤣. Definitely going to work on it though and share that in a video. Agreed, XHP is a game changer paired with a tune
I just bought an F80 M3. The 340i has more in common with a 318i than it does with an M3. The handling is on another level as is the delivery of power.
@@skrrtproductions I've returned it man! The tyre noise in the cabin was absolutely awful due to a combination of bad UK town roads, 20 inch wheels with low profile tyres, a lot less noise insulation being used and the car being solid mounted at the rear subframe. It's a great car in all other ways, the handling and performance is amazing and it's comfortable to drive in the bucket seats but I can't live with that tyre roar, it's present at even low speeds. F30 for the win, glad I didn't sell my 330D. I need a do it all car but this one wasn't good enough to be a daily driver with the annoying noisy cabin.
Great comparison fellas! You guys definitely covered all the pros and cons of both, so it's really up to the buyer to decided which car will fit their needs the best. It would be good to see a head to head drag race in Mexico next 😉😂

I've had an F30 330D for 6 years now and loved it, tempted to switch over to an F80 M3 just for the experience of owning an M car. Does the F80 have much better handling than the F30? that would be a deciding factor me. I'm looking for a more agile car.
@@skrrtproductionsI test drove an F80. It was 'too much' lol. Great for a blast outside of the city but as a daily that droning noise of the engine would annoy me. It's sacrilege but my remapped 330D felt quicker at legal city limits due to the huge torque. I haven't completely ruled out the M3 but it's made me appreciate my car more. I think you have to drive the M3 like a maniac to fully appreciate it.

Did you have your car tuned to stage 2 before upgrading to 2+ with the HPFP ? If so would you say there's a big difference ? And what fuel are you running on ? I only have 91 octane available where I live and I'm trying to decide if it's worth over 1 grand from stage 2 to stage 2+
Yes I was stage 2 for a bit before going stage 2+. Definitely a difference even just on 93. More throttle response and pulls harder. Once I added an E50 mix, that’s when it really felt good and increased a lot of power
😂😂 toughhh. The F8X is superior but with the way the economy is going.. idk.. All depends on your personal situation. The 340i is still a super fun and enjoyable car (with mods) 😂
@terrancecollins2696 the thing that keeps me away from the m3 or m4 is that once u start going fbo stage 2+ u needa get the crankhub issue fixed for peacs of mind.
I would say the M3 is a masculin looking car for a real sophisticated Man. The 340i amazing car but a bit teenager car with defined lines. Regardless of power, comfort and a daily drive. Talking about looking and feeling point.
One way to look at it but that’s completely subjective. One is designed more for the track, and the other is designed more for daily use. Hence the entire design and price point. Some ppl buy an M3 for the “status” and some ppl buy one and use it to its actual potential on track. To each their own
The two are markedly different chassis, differential, and transmission…Each individual component contributes to the entire handling differences. Ride height, spring rate, suspension arm geometry and weight, damping rates, elastomer mounts/stops durometer, presence or absence of rigid pivots, tires, steering ratio and leverage, DSC, ABS and suspension software, etc., etc. All of these things are different from a base car to the M car and they all add up in each model in a very noticeable fashion.
