My complete F30 modification list ---> geni.us/f30-mods
don’t even need to watch the video, picking up a rwd, black on red 6 speed 340 this weekend I’m super hyped
Edit: Plans changed and I actually picked it up on 12/8. I found the car in my desired spec only 15 minutes away here in SoCal so I got super lucky. So far I’ve put 300 miles on it and love every second of it. The car is on 513M’s, MPPSK, and Dinan coils. Coming from a manual IS300 I found it way more engaging than I thought I would. My only issue with it is the electric steering of course, but once you get past that it’s a perfect daily. Looking high and low for a 6 speed was 100% worth the effort!
Congrats! You'll love it!
Have a listen to your turbo wastegate and actuator arm. Mine unfortunately has that ticking noise. it's a silly design flaw from BMW. No noticeable boost power loss but I hear it all the time where I accelerate over 2.5k rpm. Hope yours is mint!
@@crouchingchicken007 I checked the car out a few weeks ago it’s super mint for 50k miles. Well taken care of and always been a california car. It’s painful waiting for the day to come 🫠
@@gabe_is300 congrats 👏🏻 😁 the B58 I an absolute beast!
Congratulations
I opted for my 2018 340ix over an F80 M3, mostly for the AWD and cost effectiveness of modifications. Currently big turbo and fbo, on a custom flextune. Runs 10s like clockwork. It's probably my favorite sedan I've owned
The m3 sounds like garbage also
@@iAlwaysSpeakTheTruth I like how it sounds irl :(
@@iAlwaysSpeakTheTruth it doesn’t sound bad with downpipes but the b58 is my dream engine
How is the trans / drivetrain holding up? I also have xdrive so am especially interested in other xdrives with mods
@@prestoiidx generally the closer to 600 torque you get, the closer to the transmission failing. Also should be mindful of axles and driveshaft if launching alot at that level, and manifold if running over 30lbs of boost.
I absolutely LOVE your cinematography in this babe! Was so damn good! 🔥 Proud of you!
Once again, you've kept me tuned in. Your videos have improved so much over the years--the consistent audio levels, video quality, the great angles/shots, etc. I'm still not a Beams fan, but I'll admit, it's YOUR videos I prefer to follow despite "suggestions". As always, keep up the awesome presentations, Jus!! 😎👍
Thank you for continuing to tune in! This means a lot to me!

Hi I've been watching your channel since I was 8 with the E90 videos and you made me a fan of BMW to this day and I'm 14 so keep it up!
I used to watch you when I had my e90. Came looking for a 340i and there you are again!
I know this is an old comment but did you end up finding one?
Well said Justin. I have a 2016 535i xDrive M Sport and recently picked up a 2018 330i X Drive M Sport as a daily driver. Best of both worlds.
Solid review, no fluff, pertinent info from a car guy.
Thanks Justin - Much appreciated - I've seen another vid from you in the past 🤘
Thank you!
My mom has a 2017 M240i that was a great price and very low mileage. She’s loving it!
Aside from the amazing car upgrade and the mods can we talk about the videography quality and improvement over the years you have mastered the the skill sir. These videos are top of the line. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you!! 🙏
Been a f30 owner since march and stumbled across your channel glad I did you’ve put me on to a lot lol
We've just purchased a 2018 340i, over here in the UK 🇬🇧 We are super pleased with it.
Definitely been waiting for the used car market to correct a bit. Although, I do see a nice amount on the market, I'm a slow boy lover and manuals are so damn rare to find unwrecked. Hopefully in a couple months I'll be apart of the b58 crew. Love the content bro!
Good luck with your search!
Rlly I been searching for one for the past 3 months and I couldn’t find one
@@aashirchaudhary4928 I found one and it was delivered today. 🤘🏾 Keep up the search!!
I have owned lots of different BMW over time, but F31 was the first i really liked. I did have the 320d X-drive model not the powerful 340i, but still it was fun to drive. After replaicing the engine timing chains and fixed the transfer box, i was just pure pleasure to drive. Unfortunately i had to sell it, but considering buying something more sportier and 340i is something on my whishing list. :)
Love everything about your video and everything always looks sooo clean!
I agree about your opinion about the looks, think it's one of the best looking 3 series. As it gets older, its looking better
Well done, dude. Thank you for helping to keep our resale value up :D
Justin, your E90 build series was the reason I now own a BMW. I’ve got a 125i N52 E82. Also in black!
Your RUclips videos and reels alone make me want a 340i
I haven't commented in a minute but had to mention how professional the production quality of these videos are! Side-note I need another BMW!
Thanks man!!
the way you film your videos are goals hopefully one day i can get to that level. keep emm coming and you helped me out a lot in building my bmw 440i so thank you 💪💪
Thanks!!
2018 340i msport manual here. VRSF catted downpipe upgrade with MHD Stage I tune. Everything else stock. Everything you said is spot on.
The editing in your video is clean. It looks so good. Love your channel man.
Thank you!
It’s about 5% more compromised, but the trunk in the 440i is unbeatable. Highly reccomend one if you want something that can easily fit a bike in the back. While also looking better in my opinion, especially if you get the exec package headlights that are available on thr M3/M4
First scene was a BMW driver using a blinker. I was blown away, wasn’t prepared for that. I didn’t think BMWs came with those.
Great video. I’ve got a new m340i ordered with all the options. The price tag hurt and I had F80 money but after driving both the F80 and G80, I preferred the daily comfort of the G20. It just felt more comfortable and better city driving/traffic manners.
I also drove a new M5 and honestly that’s what I really want but they’re still out of my price range unless I get one with high mileage and I want a warranty.
Man. This channel has just blown up. So happy for you 🎉
Thank you! 🙏
I have a manual nismo 370z and yesterday I went out with my friend who just got his 340 and OOF 🔥 I LOWKEY WANT ONE NOW !!
Great video as always! I picked up a '16 440i f33 and have been loving it. As a previous owner of a 08 E90 M3 and a '11 335 xdrive, I can't say enough how far they've came over the 8 years. I'll miss the manual v8, insane redline and soundtrack, but for a person in my early 40s, in Michigan, this car really checks all the boxes. Can do a Costco run with the top up, and for the family of 4 with the top down, I couldn't be happier. Coupe in the winter with a set of Blizzaks, RWD, wish me luck!!! Based on your review, coilovers and brake upgrades are on next year's agenda for sure!
You can manage no problem. I run a lowered f80 M3 as a daily through Toronto winters. With winter tires, it's almost as good in the winter as my old Subaru STI (other than from green lights, but throttle modulation + starting in second gear will be your friend 👌)
@@brosephstalin2491 awesome news! Thanks Broseph
I'm actually currently looking at a 2016 340i so this video was great timing. Funnily enough, I never really looked into buying a BMW until I saw your videos on your 340i and it seemed like a good purchase.
How did it go?
@@ooreplayss1588 I ended up getting a 2014 Audi S4. I absolutely love it, but the maintenance is expensive
Like the video, I recently bought a M550i in august. After owning many Hondas it’s different world I love it, I still own my 3 preludes lol
Best way to preserve your engines plastic components is to open your hood after a spirited drive to let all the heat escape. Leave the hood open for 20-30 mins or longer then garage the car if you can.
Video editing quality is top tier😮
Thanks! 🙏
Incredible video! Keep it up man. We love to see it.
Thanks!
the one thing you might enjoy with this more is the comfort when you're not trying going hard. did a 4-1/2 drive in my f80 and my back was shot. but you just can't deny the look of the m3.... still very cool build though
Well made video! The 340i is a crazy value
Thanks!
I’ve had my stage 2 m240i for 2 years.
Put just over 70k miles on it. It’s my daily driver and I dog it daily 😂 I love my car.
Will definitely have another in the future.
Not an f30 but I just purchased a 2023 g20 m340i and I gotta say, the b58 is a quite literally a perfect engine! Has amazing performance when needed but can be tame and fuel efficient as well! Awesome video and I’m super happy to join the BMW family 😎👊🏻
Thank you! Enjoy the car!

Easily the cleanest 340i build on the Internet. I whip a 2018 330 and love it as a daily but man... you makin me want to upgrade!
Thank you!!
im just on stage 2 and its same speed to 120 as a m3comp, so happy :) it did 180 on first try in germany on 91oct, perfect daily
Hey Justin, you have made me enthusiastic for an F30,only in Europe the 316,x18,x20 are most comon versions.
Maybe I should start saving for an nice F30,but the E90 still drives very well.

The E90 is still a great car! 😎
Loving my m340. Absolute beast (0-60 in less than 4s actual) in sport plus but 40mpg in eco!!!
What year
I'm absolutely going to upgrade my 2011 335i to a 2018 340i when the time comes. I have put so much work and energy into my e90, I can't upgrade until its dead! My problem is that it never dies... I always fix it!
Not a bad problem to have hahah
Save a bit longer until you can afford to keep both 🙏🏽
Love your videos dude. Just got an amazing deal on a 228i convertible. Now my son wants your 340i ha!! Thanks for all the info

the B58 engine in the wife's X3 m40i 👌
Your enthusiasm on this channel was largely responsible for me buying 2019 430i. It’s an amazing car with pretty much all possible options available at the time except literally 2-3… and I already am modding it to add them.
Glad to hear it! Sometime I wish I had chosen the 4 series instead of the 3. I rarely use my backseat
@@justinbuice nah man, next in line for you is like G2x ;)
Got a 1 series convertible. Absolutely love the car.
Me too!
Awesome infos, JB rocks💖
Great video. As someone who has owned a few non-M cars, and also a few M cars...I would still chose the M3/M5 every time. Out of the box it is more capable, looks more aggressive, and I don't feel a sense of desire for other BMWs on the road when I am in my car. When I had my 335, I always drooled over the M3, but I don't feel this the other way around. The 335/340 is probably one of the best cars for the money and it still comes in a manual! I like your setup, hope you are well man.
i like the 2018 f80 cs but idk what’s better that or the m340i
F80 m3 hands down. I’ve got one and with the wide body from factory, everyone is looking at you
I agree. the m3 g80 for example, looks wayyyy more aggressive than the regular 3 series... so if you're a show off person, the m3 looks like its double the price of the 3 series... which it sorta is. It also has 100+ hp out of the box, and is way more capable on stock internals.
My stripped g80 comp x was 12k more than a loaded m340 and will hold its value quite a bit better. I agree with you, I have never looked back and wish I bought that. The s58 zf8 combo is pretty damn solid.
I bet m3 m5 guys are jelly of my 128i.
I got lucky, the aesthetics of my car doesn't look like 128i with the few mods I've done.
3:00 the automatic gearbox is the ZF 8HP and is a insane piece of technology. There is software like xHP to greatly improve this transmission even further. It is not expensive and you can flash it by yourself.
6:30 with MHD you can tune the engine safely (very common software, lots of experence) by flashing the software and the MHD OBD2 Adapter is capable of flashing the xHP software to the transmission as well!
BTW: I don't own a BMW with B58 and ZF 8HP yet, but I plan to buy one and I know tuners and owners using the software I mentioned. For me, this is the way to go with my future b58 ;)
Love your channel man! I'm a relatively new owner of a 2017 230i xDrive and totally love it. I've gotten 40+mpg highway, amazing city car (I live in Cleveland), the AWD is really nice to have. Considering a boost to get closer to 300hp... 🤔
One thing I saw in your other vid that I wish I had known earlier - ditch the runflats. I've had to change 4 of them in 2 years from hitting potholes and that cost has really hurt. I'll switch next opportunity. 🙏🏼
You videos always make want to be a bimmer owner again. If everything goes well I’m gonna get a brand new M4 Competition 😁
my dream car right there. if you end up getting it, enjoy it! good luck!
I’m a little late but I recently purchased a 650i with the m sport package :) not a 3 series but I don’t think I’ll ever go back to anything but German it hasn’t given me any headaches besides my speakers are blown 😑 but I’ll fix them lol 98K miles and still strong 💪🏾
Great video, informative and good footage/ format as well as edit. F30 are a lot of car for the money for under 30k. Looks really good too, best of modern bmws imo
Great video once again Justin 👍🏽
FYI you can use 89 octane. Look under your gas cap.
I just copped a 2016 340i coming from a e90 325i greatest transition ever
Great video, I’ve owned an F80 for 8 months now
I drive a lowered single cab ram and recently my cousin let me borrow his x5 with the n55 in it for a couple days and now I want a bmw 😂 thinking of a 340i

Am from Trinidad and Tobago i really love BMW saving money to buy one 🎉
If you want a raw driving experience the M3/M4 is what you are looking for. F3x is a much softer family car in comparison. I went from F36 to an F82. Speed isn't everything, but S55 gets more power mod for mod than B58. B58 is really good and fast if the F3x has xDrive. The M3/M4 is more of a drivers car.
B46 F31 owner here, previously owned a F30 328i, so I got a taste of both. Too bad they don't offer F31 340i in the States, a tuner wagon will be badass. See u at Kies auto show next year?

Definitely agree with the upgrades. Stage 1 tune is pretty good. Don’t need to kill the engine with too much power. Definitely don’t think the car comes with 320 HP. It’s closer to 340 HP stock
320 is the number advertised by BMW but they are known for underrating their engines. When we dyno tested mine stock, it was around 300 HP. Could have been a variance in the actual dyno though.
@@justinbuice I have the 2017 with track package. I have kids so definitely not in the market for upgrades
I did the AGA parking brake retainer. It is an aluminium replacement that will never fail again. I am also getting random coolant loss. There are no signs of leakage anywhere.
A friend of mine told me about those right after I replaced mine. When this one breaks, I’ll go aluminum for sure

Aww yeah here we GO
I loved my 2012 f10, it was my first bmw, a 528i with the n20. It was nicely packaged and when I bought it with 40k miles with one previous owner all maintained at bmw service center for $17k (bought in 2018, sticker price was $58k) it seemed like a steal. I babied it, oil change every 5k miles, really didn’t push it hard since I knew n20 wasnt that strong for a big heavy 5 series, I loved the smooth ride and luxury. Literally not a single issue for 3 years. Except one evening driving home, out of nowhere the dreaded “power train” warning “reduced power”. I made it home, turned the engine off, waited 10 mins to power back on and my engine was shot, blown. You nailed it in your video, the timing chain being in the back of the engine and the guide made of plastic basically disintegrated, totaling my engine. $14k for a brand new engine, I didn’t even have 70k miles! Little did I know there’s a class action lawsuit bmw lost (kind of, all depends on your mileage and year of the car). I was lucky since I had low miles bmw ended of covering 80% of the cost. I got it fixed and then covid hit. Ended up selling it to carvana for $17.5k and got Lexus GS 350 F sport. I love my Lexus but not going to lie, I really miss my bmw. It’s a shame they use sooooo my plastic for critical parts of the engine that with my experience any bmw over 80k miles is such a risk. I love the brand, I love how every time I got in that car I enjoyed driving it, im just at the point I’ll take reliability over anything. Great video by the way. I still love watching your content even though I’ll probably never go back to BMW
All n20s blow up
I have the same car you had. I’m scared about my timing chain.. in the past 2 weeks have changed battery, radiator and tensioner.
@@jesuitscholar2022 You need to change the timing chain before it changes your engine. No, seriously. I had this motor (N20/26) same thing. Just barely caught it. I have an n55 now. F10.

I agree with the thumbnail. Unless you track the car often a 340i/440i with some upgrades will be moreeee than enough fun for average person. B58 is a properly solid engine. Prior to having one i thought nah these guys are all boosting the potential but no. Its thats solid👌👌
