Sirens blaring, dog barking, Aaron yelling *SAY SOMETHING MICHAEL!* and the other patients laughs and yells nervously and Michael Myers as quiet as only Michael Myers can be. Everyone and everything around him goes ballistic! Legendary! The most badass moment I've seen in cinema.
While a lot of people tend to give their own reason and logic to this moment, in my eyes this scene is a downright perfect showcasing of what Myers truly is, the embodiment of evil, something that looks human but really isn’t, something that has a supernatural force or power within them that can’t be seen with the naked eye. When that mask was pulled out it, Michael didn’t move a muscle, yet seemingly conjured up this supernatural force around the courtyard that made all of the patients begin freaking out in utter terror. Quite honestly I don’t think it’s anything Michael did physically, as even the dogs begin to lose it, barking, and then whimpering while cowering away in fear, all while the alarms begin sounding off as everything starts growing more tense, they all see something utterly terrifying in the moment that nobody else can. This is without a doubt one of the greatest scenes in the entire franchise, as for one of the few times it shows that Michael, truly is, not human.
I completely agree. This was the perfect scene to kick off the movie because it shows that evil has finally awaken after 40 years, and it’s coming to kill. This movie deserves more credit.
It reminds me of the original Dracula. In the novel he appears a totally mundane modern man at most times, yet the animals and madmen of London seem to sense his true nature from across the city and are driven wild the night he arrives.
N/A Gaming THAT WASNT IN THIS TIMELINE, IT NEVER HAPPENED, ONLY 1978 Halloween Original, is part of this movie, Laurie, never Shot Micheal in the eyes, he never went to the hospital in this timeline, part 2, and all the other films do not count, only part one, where loomis Shot Him 6x, he fell off the balcony, got up, and got caught, and it picks up right here 40yrs later, so, he only was stabbed in the neck with the pin, stabbed in the eye by Laurie, and loomis Shot Him 6x, and he took a fall, THATS it, part 2 never happened
"Say something Michael!" Michael: "The dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be (turns around to face Arron) unnatural!"
Probably one of the best scenes in the series. I'm not a huge slasher fan but the '78 original, this and Halloween Kills have something more going on. There's just something so intriguing about Michael for me than any other slasher film.
@@SilVelardi I know Ends and Kills were divisive but I legitimately enjoyed them both. I liked the "transcendence of evil" plot line and I didn't mind Corey either. My only issue with Ends is that it felt like a great torch pass, but they're both just dead at the end. If Corey's body disappeared at the end after mulching Michael's corpse, it'd be a perfect call back to the 78 original classic, sequel bait and Corey looked good as The Shape. He should've disappeared at the end. I could nitpick every Halloween film but I still liked this new trilogy.
"Make no mistake, he is aware. He was watching you as you arrived." That's pure evil right there. Pure Evil is always aware of his surroundings; always listening, always observing, and always planning. He doesn't need to speak because everything around him are just objects. Even when he's being forced to talk, he doesn't do it. Simply because YOU are nothing but a toy to him. A toy doesn't need to be talked to. In his mind, you exist for him to play you or dump you as he pleases.
This scene is one of the best introductions to a movie antagonist ever. No words needed, just his mask. A thing of palpable evil, causing everything around it to descend into chaos and violence. A thing of pure destruction with only one desire. To be whole again. To be reunited with its one true vassel. The one being that gives it life and brings its desires to grisly reality.
I love that every action that puts Michael back on this path in this movie are made by people trying to humanize him as a person with psychological motivation because they all desperately want his random actions from the first film to mean something.
Exactly. Loomis was the only person to get it. Because there's no secret, no mystery. The only mystery they have about Michael is the one they made up in their heads. Michael is evil, plain and simple. He is not a man, you can tell just by how he walks. It's robotic without the meaning of the word in mind. He kills people. That's his motivation. Everyone who tries to analyze him to satisfy his own curiosity ends up being the catalyst for his next spree.
I remember when this came out in theaters. As a birthday plan, my friends and girlfriend (who hate watching horror movies) took me to watch it with me (huge horror fan). When this intro happened, I remember being in awe at how great it was. I turn my head to see my company's reaction and they were staring with their hands over their ears. I love my friends for nutting up enough to share in my interests for my birthday. They're the best.
I remember when this came out as well, my friend and fellow horror addict. It was actually MY turn to pick the movie that week, and fortunately, my kids, all 3 of em, like horror films as well. My then-girlfriend/now wife KNEW what she was getting into when we…assimilated her into our little collective…😆!!! I remember Lorelei clutching my hand the entire movie 🍿, and even pressing her head onto my shoulder. Ironic, really…🙄: my “old lady” could endure the physical pain of body piercings and tattoos, but she STILL has a hard time stomaching horror films… 😁🖤🤍🩶
You’re both wrong Michael wanted the mask when he had the mask he wanted to kill everyone because they betray him and at the hospital they yelled at the mask because they were mad.
You're absolutely right. That's why, after he kills these two (in the bathroom), and retrieves his mask from the trunk, and puts it on...the heavy breathing starts again...he's ALIVE, again. Just as, back in 1978, when Laurie pulled his mask off, he becomes almost frozen...stopping his attack, then fumbling for his "face", so he can resume his act...only, he didn't bank on Dr. Loomis standing behind him, with revolver in tow.
A Frustrated Gamer then why the hell would he always wear the same pale white mask in every movie. Other than the fact that it is one of the most iconic masks in horror history, in the Halloween universe’s logic, Michael could have used any random scary mask and went on his usual killing spree like every time. Wether it’s all the movies in the past three decades or the newest one that basically retconned the entire timeline making all the sequels non canon now you still have to wonder why Michael always chooses the same mask. In Halloween 4, he got the mask from a random Halloween costume store and chose the pale Captain Kirk mask instead of literally any other mask in that costume store.
Jokes aside, I love how unexplained the whole event is, just left up to the imagination. It could've been supernatural, or maybe they recognized the mask or something. This whole scene is just one of my favorite openings in a movie
Exactly my thoughts as well. They do something similar in Halloween Kills and Ends with Michael's house and the act of killing.Wish I could say more about it but not sure if you saw Halloween Ends and don't want to spoil anything.
The thing I love most about Michael as opposed to Jason or Freddy, is that in most ways, he’s portrayed as just a human being in a realistic world. Yet, he does things that seem supernatural. Even with them pulling out the mask. Like, he’s been talking to Michael for a min no one freaked out, not even the dog, but the second the mask was in the air, it was like when a cat or dog senses a spirit or demon & the inmates lost it! Why? There’s no clear answer & that’s why it’s so intriguing.
Meh , they kinda ruined his "just a human" characterization in Halloween Kills by taking massive blows & gunshot wounds and still being able to stand and walk like nothing happened to him. I hope Halloween Ends can put him to rest :)
He took a wire hanger to the neck, a stab to the chest, 7 shots and suffered a huge fall and still got up and walked off. I just described the things he did in the first movie..If Halloween Kills ruined that about him, then how do you explain that?
I think there was a misunderstanding. I like the fact that he’s thought of as human, but that he can do seemingly unnatural things. That’s what I found fascinating. He gets injured by things that would kill literally anyone else, but he still gets up? Why? That mystery is why I’m so intrigued. I wanna know, but at the same time, I don’t, because what if they come up with a stupid explanation? Or one that doesn’t do Michael justice? … kinda a double edged sword, unless they can find a reason to explain it that most people will be happy with.
Out of all the horror villains I’ve seen, Michael Myers is the most terrifying. What makes him scary is that he is human, but you can feel there is something not right about him.
Aaron: "Say something! Michael: Their early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.
Michael stares at the mask, and we hear his thoughts: 'Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh my God, it even has a watermark'
Michael’s personal magnetism was so powerful it erupted the other crazies and even made the dog start barking all without him saying anything, making the slightest sound, or moving! Michael is strong in the dark side of the force
Michael is the greatest of all villains, he is the embodiment of all negative energy that the world has created and uts within the darkness of Michael. He is the very thing everyone runs from which is simply the shadow of one's own self.
IMO this scene is perfect, Michael didn’t care about anything until the mask came out, The mask was like a calling card telling Michael it’s time to come home.

After having a glass of warm milk and doing about twenty minutes of stretches before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning. Just like a baby, I wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning. I was told there were no issues at my last check-up. I'm trying to explain that I'm a person who wishes to live a very quiet life. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night.

@@SilVelardi That's your opinion.

They're really cool people and good friends.
This movie didn't come out too long ago. And I remember going ro see it with friends also.

I remember when this came out as well, my friend and fellow horror addict. It was actually MY turn to pick the movie that week, and fortunately, my kids, all 3 of em, like horror films as well. I remember Lorelei clutching my hand the entire movie 🍿, and even pressing her head onto my shoulder.

you're alive?????
That mask isn’t just a mask. It’s Michael Myers’ face. His skin face doesn’t define who he really is.
The Extraordinary Spider-Man oo
woah that was deeeeep
You're thinking of Rorschach....

Also the fact he has no backstory to speak of. The fact he has no motive of any kind makes him scarier
Meh , they kinda ruined his "just a human" characterization in Halloween Kills by taking massive blows & gunshot wounds and still being able to stand and walk like nothing happened to him. I hope Halloween Ends can put him to rest :)
@@LHeyMX yeah I really didn't like that. I was like really? So he's not human then ? 🤔
When he show Michael mask the loonlys & dog can sense dark forces around him and sense danger💀
