Thank You! I've been looking for this explanation everywhere and wasn't able to find anything as good at explaining it as you've done here!
I just got my liquid culture order from you. Super excited for this grow season.
Keep it up with the killer content buddy!
Another badass video gary...right on time as usual..im about to get my fruiting on
Great video Gary.
The Rosebud Pinks grow so fast, thanks again!
Great video bro, thanx for making it and sharing it, we are blessed.🍄🙏💕
Love your info. Thank you. I have learned so much from you.
Thank u for the info Gary
Cool channel bro, amazing knowledge 😎
Just about to set up a fogger in my tent and figured I would get a quick refresher by watching this.
I love automated systems like this. I'm thinking designing these could even be a future career path.
Thanks bro, that was cool.
I envy the space you have yo do your craft😔. I hope i can get there eventually. Thanks for sharing with us
i like your fruiting room i like inspire mine from yours thank youuu
Brilliant 🇬🇧 Thank you
i think thats why my fruits hsve stalled in my martha, ty for your help i will see if i can get them to un stall.
Thank you!
Thanks Gary for your sharing.Dieu vous Protège.
Dude, you are my spirit animal. Tell me you have a video walking us through how to build that humidifier setup.
thanks! I haven’t made one yet but oak and spore has a good video on it 👍
do you run exchange filters on the exhaust to reduce noise and fan wear? if you do how do you have this set up, great vid by the way thanks.
Hey man so I’m doing my first grow, and I’ve got my LM blocks in a mono tub w perlite. Anyways, the tub is in my bathroom, and I keep it roughly 90 RH and and 65-70 degrees. My lions mane is looking a little like coral, and pinkish. I watched your other video, how can I get better FAE into my mono tub, or into my bathroom in general. I fan the lid a couple times a day every 3-4 hours ish. First flush also
Hey! Thank you for all the content. Currently I have a preconditioning tent that is next to my fruiting tent that houses the humidifier, AC unit and a UV lamp. The preconditioned room is fed with a HEPA box connected to an inline fan. I am currently running some top fruiters and have previously cut the bags tops off but experienced a lot of contamination and uneven pin sets. Do you recommend 92% RH, i seem to have issues running that high and dont really get the yields i am expecting.
You can dial it back and see - it kind of depends on the exhaust, if it is too slow CO2 will still build and cause issues. If it’s too much exhaust it will be too dry and energy intensive - there is a balance
Hi Gary many thanks love your videos. Question: how do you control the temp of the fresh air flowing into the fruiting chamber? Is it outside air? Do you have to heat in winter / cool in summer?
we have an ac unit that is insulated to form a little pocket of cool air for summer, for winter we don’t really fruit in the coldest seasons but I would heat the same
way
Thank you for the video!
Can you tell us what pipes are you using for the shelves?
I want to make one but I dont know what would be the best cost-resistence efficiency.
There is galvanized steel, ppr, electrical tubing, etc.
If anyone has experienced with any of these, please let me know.
Love your video. May I ask if i do a indoor shop for msuhroom cultivation, i will have a grwoing room in the shop. Do I have to bring air from outdoor dirctly or I can bring air from yhe shop. Becasue i am in canada, winter here is quite cold. How should i do with air exchange? Thank you!
Wow! Have a grow bag & they just said cut the top, bellow for 30sec & clip once a week
Hi Gary, this came at the perfect time for me. Thank you. Is your intake filtered(hepa) or is it only filtered with the UV?
It has a merv 11 filter on the intake - these are ok Hepa would be best but they get clogged easy so maybe a pre-filter that is cheaper and can swap out would be the best
Hi Gary, just a question. Aren't higher co2 levels necessary for pinning? Or would introducing fresh air exchange help trigger pinning?
Can you do a video on the build on your humidifier and how it all works
sure I have a newer improved one Ill show 👍
Hey FFTFF, I was wondering if you have a few suggested channels that elaborate on advanced mycology techniques? Yours seem to be one of the FEW that goes into good detail about breeding and in depth work. Love your stuff! MushLove.
My favorite channels are Mossy Creek Mushrooms, 90 second mycology, the good funguy, myers mushrooms, oak and spore and freshcap Im not sure how much of a deep dive everyone goes but I gather lots of insights there - I am working on some more experiments and will be posting once or twice a month as the market season moves along and then once the new building is up with the lab I plan to dive deeper into scaling up! 🍄❤️🙏🏻
I like willysworld but I believe most of his stuff is on patreon now
Hi Gary, nice video!
There is one missconception I heard several times already. CO2 is clearly heavier than air, but in moving air it has absolutely no time to separate out. Think of the fog of your humidifier, or fog outside, how long they stay in the air and compare the droplet size to the size of a CO2 molecule. The CO2 molecule falls way, way slower. In a still volume of air the separation takes months or years, so you will not have a notable gradient in your grow rooms. You should be able to see this with your CO2 meter.
Thanks for your impressive and very informative videos!
Thanks for the feedback I will need to research this! 🙏🏻 I do believe the system works well regardless even if this is true or not
I have noticed that once the room is ventilated, if the humidifier stays off, the co2 stays about the same +-500ppm for hours, but once humidity start to come in the sensor start to steadily move to 2000-4000ppm. Dont know, if is possible that humid air is consuming o2 in the room, and the co2 is increased bca of that. Maybe my sensor just dont work properly
Thanks Gary. Just designing my Martha tent "plumbing" and was wondering about some of the designs I've seen exhausting from the top. Considering the weight of the CO2 and your guidance about bottom venting, any reason those of us building small fruiting tents would not want to exhaust from the bottom drawing fresh, moist air in from the top?
Really enjoying your book by the way! Wish I had found it months ago.
maybe if it’s easier and uses less tubing - a martha tent is quite small so it would be a lot easier to exchange the air, but I still think this is the best design maybe the inflatable plastic tubes that run the length if the ceiling for intake would spread it more evenly as well
Thanks for taking the time to reply, I know you guys are crazy busy.
What tent is that? Looks great, I have been using a gorilla but something without poles throughout would be ideal!
It's on our amazon shop here: amzn.to/3iEhBw8
@Fresh from the Farm Fungi Hey Gary! I'm in the process of setting up my mushroom grow/business. You've been a huge help along the way. I was wondering which brand of exhaust you suggest? Also wondering with the hydrofogger, you mentioned you had an inline an hooked up to it for intake? What size/cfm do you have for that?
Thank you!
I use 2 6” exhaust inline fans that are on my affiliate page and one 4” for intake - Ill do a more thorough video with our new setup once it’s up but this method has worked great for 5 years or so www.amazon.com/shop/influencer-a88d1601?ref=inf_pub_influencer-a88d1601
@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi Thank you Gary! You've been an inspiration, and I look forward to learning more from you.
Love it, can i ask, is your fresh air in is also your humidifier? Ya don't have a seperate air in?
yes that’s correct
Can an AC unit double for fresh and cool air both ?
Hi Gary, first of all I would like to thank you and congratulations for your video tutorials. I have a question, how do you manage to keep your grow room at 18ºC-20ºC when external ambient temperatures are high? Again, thank you very much.
air conditioning- unfortunately this is the most effective way
@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi Okay. Do not worry, if it is the most effective it can also be the most profitable. Probably if you tried to refrigerate in another way, more resources would be consumed. In addition, current air conditioners are low consumption. Thank you Gary. Greetings.
You should use RO water because water carried asbestos is allowed by the EPA. Many municipal water pipes are made from cement pipe reinforced with asbestos. Ultrasonic humidifiers will put dissolved solids into the air. Like medicines.
interesting! Well I will be the canary in the cole mine as I have been breathing that mist for years and years now - I had my mushrooms tested over the past 7 months and no limits of harmful chemicals were detected even in concentrates
Thanks for the information! Would you consider this fruiting chamber to be negative or positive pressure? Any recommendation for either?
it’s negative pressure because the exhaust fans are continuously running and more powerful than intake
@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi Thank you for the quick reply!
For exhaust the air how i must to do?
Great information. By the way, what do you use to control the temperature inside the tent?
air conditioning
@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi thank you so much for the information
so exciting! so many phenotypes! MUSHLOVE! :)
🍄 💚👍
Hey Gary, why is it necessary to have the 6 inch inline exhaust fans run every five minutes? Does the fresh air coming in through the humidifier not have enough power to push the older air out? Or maybe if there is a continuous cycle of air seeping out the bottom it just isnt enough to meet the fresh air needs? Would rolling up the bottom of the tent an inch or two of I tried to set up a similar tent kind of get rid of the need for exhaust fans?
continuous air being exhausted makes the humidity go down, then the humidity kicks in when it drops below a certain threshold (90ish %)
just to know; w^^ what's the diameter of thoses shelving tubes of yourr's?
Do you have any info on how the uv light is set up?
we put one in the fogger and one in the reservoir
I have humidity level in my incubation room for shiitake growing 25% RH, it is still growing (1 week from innoculation) but will it make any problems further and should I add humidifier even if bags are closed? Temperature is 22C
if you are using the right bags and hydrated correctly it shouldn’t affect the growth
how do you get airflow if you just have a closet? I cut two small slits in the bag. do I need a fan?
Make micro compartments/micro climates - I would do two separate areas and have one be for fruiting and one for air exchange/treatment - look up the “martha tent” setup 👍 you don’t need much air flow for smaller batches
What's the temperature level do we have to maintain in this stage? And how do you do it?
55-65F is ideal - we use air conditioning
Hi Gary, I was hoping to clarify a few things from this video - If you have the time.
- The Inline fan is ALWAYS running to introduce FAE into tent. However, when RH drops to its set point, the humidifier kicks on too?
- The exhaust fan turns on every 5 mins (With a CO2 monitor, this could be set to exhaust once CO2 reaches elevated levels(Above 900 ppm). Possibly decreasing exhaust intervals)
- Ambient temperature?
Current setup -
Humidifier set same as yours but w/ ducting to feed into tent from outside room. On at 90 off at 95. Fan turns on only to introduce humidity. (On all times?)
4'' exhaust fan @ 105 CFM - Runs every 5 mins.
Chamber size - 60"x32"x80" (Upgrading to the AC infinity 4'' inline w/ HEPA intake - 205 CFM)
*had ducting w/ polyfill from hvac unit tunneled through to keep chamber at 69 F - Removed as I thought this was causing my blocks to dry
My Issue -
RH reads 95, though the blocks and fruits themselves appear slightly dry. Used 2nd humidstat to gauge if meter was defective, It's not. - My only intake is the Humidifer pulling air through
I can't seem to introduce condensation into my tent even with the RH reading 90-95. The tent quickly clears out. No air leaks found. No tiny water droplets on blocks but feel slighly damp.
Begining phase of BO fruit. - stems and caps short and girthy expected to increase in size. FAE doesn't appear to be an issue. The only problem appears to be retaining moisture in the tent.
what are the ambient temperatures? If the room air is warmer than the tent fabric or walls it will pull moisture out like a condenser. You want the tent fabric to be the same temp or warmer than the air coming in from the humidifier.
Do you have any videos on building this fresh air exchange?
no but I may cover this with our new build
@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi that'd be awesome 👍
Hi I am Denver. I am working out of a 3x3 tent. Is it necessary to have an intake or can I get away with an exhaust only
it’s not necessary but it will reduce the amount of blocks because CO2 will build up faster
@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi appreciate the reply. I am only doing one block currently. I have an extra computer fan with controller but with no filter. I currently use a reptile fogger for humidity. Does that also bumb up the o2 content in the tent?
12 inches of exhaust fan would be 1200+ CFM of air exhaust. My question would be how low are those fans running and why not run say a 120MM waterproof computer style fan in tandom with your intake (humidifier)?
they are connected to 4” pipes not sure if that factors in but they run continuously- also, the intake fan is just what I had laying around I am going to revamp this system at the new facility with tighter HVAC ducting and higher quality fans
Can you please make a video on construction of mushroom grow room from A to Z. It would help lots of people like me.
👍
@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi 🤔🙄😕
How do you keep exhaust clean?
It just exhausts outside continuously so as long as the seals are air tight it isn’t necessary to filter the exhaust - you can pipe in a side drain like furnace A/C’s have at the condenser and pipe the condensation out into a drain but If you have enough fan power it should work fine 👍
How about for the mycelium growing phase
That is different, keep temps from rising by spacing out bags, keep air flow so CO2 doesn't get too high but it's mostly for the grower's sake hah the mycelium doesn't mind high CO2 during incubation - thanks for the great question! MUSHLOVE
🎉
If you have grow room (for plants) you could exchange the c02 enriched air into it for higher growth rates and yield, as long as you could keep the humidity levels in check.
yes this has been in the 10 year plan for a while 😂
@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi 😂
Is there a filter before air comes in
yes and a uv light
How important is a sterile environment during the fruiting phase? Isn't it only really necessary when creating the spawns?
(and during the incubation in the substrate of course)
Have you considered adding plants to the room?
yes check out this video ruclips.net/video/SEKwzaP8rpk/видео.html
@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi Yes! Thanks for sharing!
So one complete air interchange every 5 minutes? Cool. That's more than I thought they'd need.
yes with a full room like that - if you are not filling to capacity you can get away with less
White do i buy that máchine
it was built out of a tote like this one ruclips.net/video/vmiO6Z_HLCE/видео.html from oak and spore
With a fruiting chamber of your size, in those 5 minute intervals of air exchange : how long does your exaust fan run to exchange said air? It looks like your intake runs as long as your humidifier does. Mush love!
yes exhaust is running continuously and the intake fan kicks on with the humidifier 80% of the time Id say
Gary, always with the science talk... 1000ppm.... yeah, yeah! Although, oysters especially need that consistent air exchange for the best results. Most of us don't bother recording the exact ppm. We just keep the air moving on a consistent schedule, and that seems to work for the most part. Your mileage may vary. If you are getting long hollow stems, you probably need more air exchange.
Some of us DO understand Gary’s “science talk” and want his professional terminology.
thanks yes I try to explain it how my brain understands it - I would have liked to show a leggy oyster block but my air exchange is dialed in already and didn’t want to disturb the flow 🙏🏻
@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi hi Gary, do you use a fan in the tent to help the air travel all over the tent? If yes, where do you locate it?
Lower Outake Fan: not just because CO2 is heavier… it’s also best because that is where all the ‘particles’ will head - downwards - too.
yes thanks! there is definitely more than one reason 👍❤️🍄
You should partner with a marijuana farm, they need co2.
yes I have talked to some there are products on the market that use fungi to passively produce CO2 but that would be a cool partnership
Do you have an issue with excess moisture building up IN the room? I have an indoor space I am converting into a grow room but if I did that inside my house I would really be concerned that I would destroy the room itself. No one wants wet walls. Is that an Inkbird moisture meter? Thanks for making and posting your vids
all the air is exhausted to the outside so it is contained in the tents and never is exposed to the rest of the space
