Just got mine delivered. Thanks Greg. You’re a positive riff influencer. What a fantastic amp. The clean channel sounds amazing and though it sounds great with my Deadweald (another shout out to you and ThrashDamon) it doesn’t really need it.
Man this looks great! I wouldn't worry about having a mid knob. It has a baxadall style tone stack, which typically have more midrange than the FMV (fender, Marshall, vox/bass, mid, treb) tone stack. The Baxadall tone stack at neutral tone control setting is really flat as compared to a FMV tone stack usually has a slight scoop. Also turning up the mids on a FMV doesn't give you any more mids when you turn it up, where a baxadall tone stack will when you turn back the bass and treble controls. The mids actually increase in volume. I can wait to get my hands on one of these!! Great video!
That’s right! Thank you for checking it out. I absolutely love this amplifier! For only 5 watts and it’s simplicity it really sounds incredible cranked up! Cheers from Nashville. 🤘
this hi gain tone is great. I'm really surprised it come from such a small head. and I appreciate this kind of demo without effects, ODs, drums etc. which just get in the way of hearing how the amp actually sounds. A question though: you say "Not to be confused with the old T5 MkIII"which is the one I find on Hiwatt homepage, so what is the right name/code? Also they got no dealer in Italy, where I live. @@danielcarter3928 yes I recommend the hi-5. The combo especially because I think the little ten inch celestion they put in it is actually doing something special. To be honest the Randall RD1H has way more high gain qualities for thrash or death metal than the Hiwatt Hi-5 and the Blackstar is ok but weak unless it’s modified. I actually have a video showing how heavy the HT-5 is on my channel too. Thanks for checking it out! This Hi-5 is sick but to achieve actual thrash or death tones an overdrive is definitely recommended.

Now is the same amp as what they are calling the 'T-5' ?
No. Completely different animal. T5 MKIII is more of a classic Hiwatt tone 70’s vibes. Hi-5 is designed for High Gain.
Interesting....there is a clip of the T5 small combo (also in a small head version like this one) with a similar control layout to this one and was so shocked by how much gain I was hearing with the knob at 9!o’clock
chatter Hey that’s a great combo. However this is different and the tone stacked gain stage is completely different. Hiwatt is getting into lower wattage Heavy Rock/Metal amps. This was just released. 🤝
@@AngryTonesRiffClips yea I agree...I'm sort of torn between it and the one in your video...they both sound really good!
Nice
How much are these and where can I find one?
Lewis Keller Glad you like it! It’s about $300 and I ordered mine through Motor City Music, they were the first US dealer to receive the HI-5 head from Hiwatt. 🤘
Cant find one anywhere at the price its supposed to be, most seem to be price gouging.
That sucks, yeah they have gone up ever since the 420 series came out with green tolex.
Yup. That high gain setting sounds nothing like a HIWATT.
Yes sir it’s much more modern being it was designed with Mike Fortin. However gain at 9 o’clock it’s pretty awesome, beautiful Hiwatt classic crunch all day! This was a metal demonstration. 🤘
Is it made in China or England???
It’s components and materials are designed in England, but it’s manufactured overseas.
Does anybody by any chance know the difference between the hi5 and the t5?
Yes. The original T5 MKII is a more classic gain Rock n roll amp, whereas the Hiwatt Hi-5 was designed with more high gain for heavy rock to metal tone. It’s a great clean amp as well being the switch/button goes from clean to the overdrive channel.
Sick I have a t5 mkIII and the gain def seems like it lower than what you got there. Funny I can't find almost anything about the t5 anywhere. Also I've see hi5 amps with the back panel labeled " hi5/t5" so that has me confused
