I love what you did with the Squier. I've been souping up strats, sometimes Fenders, Squiers, old Charvels, or total ground up builds for forty years. My typical guitar is some kind of strat with a Duncan Distortion or some other Duncan in the bridge, mot most often a Distortion. Schecter makes great pickups. They are known for this. A lot of players in the 70s and 80s would buy Schecter pups and pop them into their strats and other axes.

I'm a big fan of the Custom 5 and the rest of the Custom series, the Distortion, Full Shred, Alternative 8, etc., but I dig this Pennywise. Great metal tone.

These Mooer preamp pedals are still unmatched in my opinion. I've used the Brown Sound one on tours and it sounds amazing. Got it for like $80.

This amp is fantastic, has tons of tones, but with this way of playing you get only 10% of his beauty....to be generous. Maybe usesul for chuggy-chuggy players :-)

Could hear your guitar’s string sound while playing through the amp. I assume you used a room mic sound vs a close mic setup, which is fine. It’s nice to hear an amp in the room too. But the amp post gain must have been a bit low to have hear the strings and speakers at equal volume. Sounds great but would have been nicer more cranked.

The DSL 1 HR has an ECC82 pre amp tube in the power section. Can I try real power amp tubes like EL34, KT88, 6L6 in the DSL 1 HR ?

I bought a Randall Rd1 about 13 years ago and it was 199$ brand new. I think the RD5 was 299$ what the hell happened? Don’t get Me wrong they are great and all and Washburn is one of My Favorite Guitar Brands as well but these were made for Budget players and now they are ridiculously overpriced. Anyway. Looking for the best Recto in a Box. 2716 Westminster is on the list. Any pointers?

Update This unit makes my original Peavy Rage practice amp actually circa 1989 listenable and usable. I am amazed that POS amp actually can sound decent. Now through my ADA Bipolar stereo amp circa 1994 and a Marshall 4x12 cabinet it's absolutely stunning. 🤘😎 0:04 This little unit has so much to offer for the price. Stoked 💯 % here. This VH4 is the shit!
