So I am having a Custom 20 built right now....and you can get FACTORY MODS to your choosing !!!! The possibilities are pretty wide open.....you can go with one of three tone basis ...then you can get gain boost switches for both channels ...you can get a deep pot installed in the rear ....A Saturation (diode break up) switch on channel 2 ...you can get a Capn Crunch mod on channel one also....you can add a chassis mounted choke !!!! And I am getting them ALL...lol.....so we will see !!!! But Doug has been super hands on and SO VERY EASY and a breeze to deal with !!!!

Really can't tell how good this one sounds its so tinny and inside a box sounding.
I'm thinking mic placement was really off.

Mic is spot on. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It’s definitely fizzy when it’s cranked up. It lacks tight low end punch and growl in the chugs like my 50-100 watt amps sound.

I’m modding one of these right now and did the depth mod with a pot and NFC mod. About to tackle the Fortin Meshuggah mod which should tighten it up a lot and more modern sounding. Then I’m getting a gold faceplate made for it and make it look like a mini Fortin Meshuggah amp. Also going to get a badge that says Minishuggah 😂 Eventually going to do the octal mod to put in el34s and a good effects loop. It’s super fun modding and learning about amps. Sorry for the long comment and I’ll be posting it in the FB groups when I’m done with it. Hopefully it’ll sound at least 90% to the real Meshuggah amp 😂

This amp is fantastic, has tons of tones, but with this way of playing you get only 10% of his beauty....to be generous. Maybe usesul for chuggy-chuggy players :-)

I still have to say that even with the boost it still sounds like you're playing in a cardboard box..... This amp was my 1st modded amp ever and it kinda made me think modding is a bad idea. With that said I'm sure most players will enjoy the amp but in my old age I want shit to sound a specific way and hopefully Amp Man will get it sorted out. When I get it back I'll send it to you to see what you think about what he does to it to rectify the way it pushes

Agreed it’s very boxy and has a saturated fatness to its tone. However for 70’s to 80’s crunch it works well. For 90’s to modern metal tones this is not that amp. My favorite tones were in the Jayk mod section and I still got great tones but even after the overdrive it’s just a tighter fat saturation. It’s on its way back to AMM Amplified. Thanks Shawn.
