  • Progress update on the Kubota B20 restoration project. D950 Diesel engine has been freshly rebuilt. First startup after initial 30-minute run-in and head bolts retorqued. Now starting to apply load to break in the engine and seat the piston rings.
This is the first time the tractor has moved under its own power in many years! Entire chassis has been split, separated, cleaned up, restored and painted.
Also talk about some of the remaining issues that still need addressed in the steering column, and the front gear case on the left side wheel.

Happy with the results on this so far! Midway through repairing the steering column issue now. Hope to have an additional update with that and the front axle gearbox fixed soon. If anybody knows what the typical warmed up engine oil pressure is for the Kubota D950, please let me know!

There can be a lot of work to be done when you buy a used tractor, much of it not apparent when you first see it. The good part is that once it's all taken care of, you'll really be familiar with your machine. Would be a good idea to set up a fan to blow away all the fumes when you run it in the garage.
Even Kubotas can get crapped out.

not sure about Kubota -- but anything over 10psi oil pressure should be enough to protect the bearings
