I find myself smiling when watching your videos - you have such a great respect and reverence for the natural environment! Gosh, what a location! Thank you Will.
Stunning images as always. The colours where amazing and I was getting excited just watching them play out on the video. I had a bit of a giggle at the step ladder but remember seeing photos of Charlie Waite and Ansel Adams using one in their photography. Thanks for sharing..
Just amazing, thanks William for taking us along the early morning shoot to witness such beautiful scenery with nature at it's best, being able to use hand held at those slow shutter speeds is just a credit to you. Love watching your work and enjoy the tips you provide us. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your magical moment. I felt like I was right there. You were able to document the feeling that I get when I’m given the gift of a magical moment in nature. I shoot from my gut, but your videos are helping me to learn and use some of the technology available to really make my shots pop. So thank you very much!
Thank you Susan. For me, there’s nothing better than the element of surprise and reacting to something totally unexpected. I think that’s when the best results arise, instead of something pre planned. Thanks for the support and keep shooting from the gut, but make some brief time to analyse the image and make any necessary adjustments.
WOW! Absolutely incredible! Another photographer recommended I watch your videos. I'm glad he told me about you. I'm about to watch some more. Great work!
what a great moment for any landscape photographer to experience, I wish that if you used polarizer with the rainbow shot, it will make it pop even more. The sunset in the background is amazing too. it's difficult to take great photos while shooting videos but you have done it
Thanks. No, polariser wouldn’t have helped much here, it was simply due to be diffused light. If the light was harder, the bow wouldn’t popped. Cheers mate.
Great video, Will. And those shots are outstanding! I'm just always impressed with how you keep your cool when things really light up. Certainly an underrated strength in landscape photography.
Thanks a lot mate. I think the harder part is trying to film it at the same time. I'm comfortable enough reacting to these spontaneous moments but making sure I get footage that can be used really throws another dynamic into the mix haha. Cheers.
Absolutely wonderful to be taken along the morning shoot with you! Those lupins are so beautiful. And then surrounded by the mountains, even more amazing. Cheers Will±
There are no words...you just have to stand thete and admire what mother natures provides, glad we got to share it with even though we are not there....breathtaking 🌿
Oh man, the conditions and images! Dreams of every landscape photographer. I had to laught at the stepladder, but it is a great idea :D If you would fall, then you would have unintentional camera movement :D
Love this content! Conditions don’t get any better than that. I like the ladder, I’ve had the same idea in my head for a while but haven’t thought of an image to use it on. It takes a lot of effort to bring along.
Thank you Craig! Yeah I never ended up keeping or processing the image I used it for after all. Can definitely open up new possibilities though at the right location. Cheers mate :)
@William Patino no kidding, man, makes my heart race. Those are the moments that make up for the numerous outings when things really don't come together.
I wondered how you did focusing stacking handheld. Thanks for the simple explanation. Heading back to NZ late April. Always wanted to visit in Autumn. My only problem now is deciding what area/s I need to leave out due to time. I keep changing my mind.
Hi William. Just came across your video. Just wonderful. Re image stacking. I assume you have no problems aligning the images considering you are shooting hand held? There must be some degree of movement between shots? Thanks
Haha. I’d feel a complete disconnect from the art doing that. Might as well sit in the car and let the camera shoot an 8k video and pull stills out of it 🤪
Those final shots are amazing! So many colours and layers! (So that’s where the stepladder went!😂)
No household item is safe 😅
Thank you for getting up so early to show us this breathtaking scenery and flowers ❤❤
Thank you 💚
What a glorious morning! Really feels like that rainbow was for you mate.
Sure did mate. Had a few instances like that over the years. Cheers!
I find myself smiling when watching your videos - you have such a great respect and reverence for the natural environment! Gosh, what a location! Thank you Will.
Thanks so much for the support and comments Greg. Hope you can join me out here someday!

Haha thanks a lot John :)
Amazing shots William - Just goes to show how fast "weather" can move especially in the mountains. And the bonus rainbow. Just perfect!
Just amazing, thanks William for taking us along the early morning shoot to witness such beautiful scenery with nature at it's best, being able to use hand held at those slow shutter speeds is just a credit to you. Love watching your work and enjoy the tips you provide us. Thank you.
Always appreciate your comments, Ross. Thanks for coming along on the journey with me.

Wow, look at all those lupines!. Fabulous scenery and footage. Saw the photo on fb. I love lupines. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for stopping by! :)
I really like the way you shoot, pretty much counter to the way other guys work. And boy you get great images!
Thanks a lot Geoff :)
WOW! Absolutely incredible! Another photographer recommended I watch your videos. I'm glad he told me about you. I'm about to watch some more. Great work!

Good things come to those who get up at 0430 and drive the Milford Road with a stepladder. Well deserved.
Haha, they’re certainly early start this time of year. cheers mate!
Beautiful views and great shots. Thanks!
Phenomenal shots, William! What a breathtaking location.
Thanks Len
If only every morning could start like this! Love that you have a step ladder with you! That made my day. Total shorty here . . . ..
Something you can add to your kit haha
@@WilliamPatinoPhotography hahaha! If someone ever invents a light weight portable one - it’s in the gear.

Thank you Ross!!
Stunning conditions, great video!
Thanks Warren :)
Wow, the shot with the rainbow is so mesmerizing 👌👍
Thoroughly enjoyed!
Awesome thank you!
Wow... what amazing conditions!!
Perfectly bowed over the mountain range. Unbelievable eh! Cheers Mike.
@William Patino no kidding, man, makes my heart race. Those are the moments that make up for the numerous outings when things really don't come together.
@@metagore exactly. And the possibility of it happening helps drive you.
Brooooo like seriously!!! I'm dead!
LOL, hopefully in a good way?!
Awesome video, awesome conditions.
Thanks brother :)
The best !!
What absolutely beautiful images. If only I could realise a fraction of what you do. Amazing!!
Thank you Maria!
Awesome pictures
Amazing place and conditions, perfect results!
Thanks for sharing 👍
Incredibly beautiful images! What were the critters I could hear in the background…frogs or birds?
Thanks Linda. That’s the black fronted Terns flying around :)
I wondered how you did focusing stacking handheld. Thanks for the simple explanation. Heading back to NZ late April. Always wanted to visit in Autumn. My only problem now is deciding what area/s I need to leave out due to time. I keep changing my mind.
Thanks again. Stay flexible and move with the weather if you can :)
“If you can’t get a good shot here, you might want to rethink photography “ 😆🤣😆
Glad someone laughed at that 😅🤪
wow!!
Fantastic. Where abouts on the South Island is this. Thanks, Brian
So cool, great job man ❤
Where actually is this in NZ (if it’s not a secret😉)
Hi William. Just came across your video. Just wonderful. Re image stacking. I assume you have no problems aligning the images considering you are shooting hand held? There must be some degree of movement between shots? Thanks
Yeah no worries at all with it Dave. I don’t use a tripod unless it’s astro. Been this way for over 5 years. Thanks mate!
Just amazing! I assume you guarantee those conditions for your workshops? 😜👍
I’ve been called the rainbow genie many times, haha.
Awesome mate! Didn't realise you can focus stack without a tripod, is it just as easy?
Sure is mate. Haven’t use a tripod in years.
When you change focus from foreground to ba ckground on a big lens like that how do you line them up later?
Auto align in PS, just as you would even if you were on a tripod.
would you point out where this spot is?
First!!
3000 shots timelapse and you don't need to think about being quick enough 😉 all 3000 frames are in raw anyway.
Haha. I’d feel a complete disconnect from the art doing that. Might as well sit in the car and let the camera shoot an 8k video and pull stills out of it 🤪
I kinda dislike you sometimes haha
You’re probably not the only one ! 😅
Is an image a proper image if a tripod hasn't been used in the process?
(joking! 》 quite the inspiration, well done sir).
In that case I’m happy to be a fraudster, haha. Thanks Tim.
