Thank you for your videos. Not only are they inspiring but in able to live through your experiences. Having 3 kids in this economical climate is one thing. But having one with cancer is even tougher, i don't get to toss money around. Im hoping on the other side of it we both can start growing our collection. @@ezurg01 ....good luck with that ....their overhead has got to be enormous. What is a few bucks a card going to get you ... Bankrupt fast.
If you buy a card $50.under it's going rate.....you have to factor in your time at the show the expense to get there.....the hotels etc .....now you bring it in house. There is overhead in all functions of the business ..... employees, time, inventory control etc .... Now take all that into consideration and you make him w much on each card they bought for $50k at zero margin? It Isn't how much you spend it is the main gin in which you can sell......yes even at volume turnover. Smh....... You can't buy a card for $60 under retail and expect to make any profit I don't care if you SPENT $500,000 on Select Football......oh yeah he already made that blunder.

They are laying 75-80% value
They will sell close to 100% value and move volume
This won’t be some small cramped store owned by some 70 year old smoker
They will be selling thousands of cards a month

Yo, 17:33 you comped the Pikachu Vmax Character Rare at a PSA 10 price and it was a PSA 9 graded card. Always double check, especially when working outside your personal card comfort zone. PSA 9 is selling $25-$30 so took a wash on that but in the grand scheme not like you lost a ton.

Buying at close to retail doesn’t seem to make sense unless you’re planning to lose money auctioning the cards you just spent 50k on Good luck hope its a success if you make back what you spent it will be a win win to promote the shop.

Everyone loved buying cards at peak covid prices and now are running scared after an 80-90% drop. I'm cleaning up big time won almost every auction I was involved in tonight. I love deals and bear markets don't last forever. I'm already having a hard time finding some old rare inserts from the late 90s that were readily available even a year ago. I'm predicting market bottom into Christmas then a nice gradual climb for low print run stuff. I'm buying kobe and fleer retro marvel let's go!

😂"bare markets dont last forever".....no, the last one just lasted about 2 decades. In over 30 years of collecting I've seen 2 booms, the late 90s and covid with 2 down decades in between. 20 great years to be a collector, not so much for people looking at the hobby simply as a way to make money.
@johnwayne9828 you are correct John. It's a hobby first and if you don't enjoy collecting it's not going to work out well for you. I am blown away at some of the current deals for my pc. I am going to be hoarding as much of the rare stuff as I can for the next few years. Maybe it never increases in value. But it sure makes a long cold Canadian winter go by faster lol
@@savethehobby that's the best mindset to have in the hobby. Ive been getting some nice pc stuff low lately as well. Folks just looking to build pcs are definitely gonna enjoy the hobby for the foreseeable future because I dont think cards will ever reach covid numbers again. That said, I have noticed alot of stuff from the 90s has jumped in price while modern tanks. Happy hunting.

First time I watched this channel I heard him talking about spending thousands on Desmond Ridder & I really thought he was joking.
It’s crazy seeing slabs go for $15-25, it cost that grade it and that’s not considering what you have into the card it self. We are definitely in the junk slab era
We are not lol. It's just idiots who are sending in low end stuff will have junk slabs. Only send in card where you will roughly break even on a psa 9 and you will be fine
Geoff you and Rob Veres keep saving the entire Rookie Cards Industry! Evn if you just pay 30% To70% the money will keep flowing and even if the Junk Era is here it do not matter becuase people will always love to collect and trade and sell!

This is awesome, you should come out to Charleston South Carolina for the card show on December 16th from 10am-4pm at the Citadel mall it’s put together by Collectors Corner which is one of my LCS’ and it’s a good time and local to us I think you’d enjoy man, obviously a lot for travel but just putting the word out there

Shouldn't respectively ultra modern cards grade high anyways? So whats the point of the high multiplier just because its graded? Lol or Is it just me?

For 50K I would of just rather bought a decent vintage baseball card like a Ruth, Shoeless, or Jackie.

@@ThiKuvintage is safer and can still flip. Those low pop high end newer cards have more of a chance to fall off a cliff still. Really low pop high end cards are very risky

The Junk Market crash of 1992 is because it was impossible to sell anything and no eBay!
Um no, it was for the exact reasons we are seeing now minus grading. Tons of investors flooded the market in the mid 1980’s when they saw the price of vintage cards went up almost overnight. These investors though that if they bought everything on the market by the case and speculated on every rookie card that in 30 years they would be able to retire sitting on a gold mine. This in turn, caused the manufacturers to crank up the presses and release multiple sets per year and new manufacturers each week started popping up. Millions of each card were printed, shows were thriving, and a card store seem to pop up on every corner. People started realizing by 1990 that the cards were overproduced and boxes that were $30 SRP were quickly plummeting to $10 a box within weeks of release. This caused all of the “investors” to leave the hobby and the crash. The manufacturers did everything to bring them back with gimmicks like insert cards and parallels but it was too late. By 1995 most everyone was gone and stores were vacant in droves. The true collectors were left. History repeating itself over and over. When those investors bought in they were paying $100 a case, not $500 a box. It’s even worse with grading as people are spending $25 and up a card to get graded and selling it for $10-15. Those of us that have been in this hobby for decades have seen this trend and avoid all of the ultra modern junk to stay away from getting burned. In 5 years so many of these rookies and prospects that people spent tons of money on will be out of the league and just another footnote in the hobby.
