Egg Roll in a Bowl..Healthy, Low Carb, Quick, Easy

4-5 cups cabbage
3/4 cups onions
1/2 cup carrots
1/4 cups celery
1/2 cup sweet bell peppers
2 cups shredded chicken..or meat of choice, sausage, ground beef, ground turkey, ground pork
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 tablespoon minced garlic
1 1/2 teaspoon Chinese five spice…may use ginger
1 1/2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
In a food processor chop all your vegetables..
In a large skillet, heat 3 tablespoons olive oil..
Add your veggies..add soy sauce, salt, pepper, Chinese five spice, toasted sesame oil,and soy sauce..stir well..cook about 5 minutes..or until veggies are cooked to your liking..Ready to eat..

My Husband calls himself my ginea pig. He has no choice as he does not cook at all. He does love to go pick up stir fried rice with egg rolls on the side once in a while. But, his health is not good. So, I've made a version of this before and we love it.

This has been a favorite for about 5 yrs now. Ground pork is my meat of choice, and adding extra vegetables is so good! Mushrooms are my newest favorite.
It is one of our favorites also. Never tried it with mushrooms, but I do love adding extra veggies 🌹

Just found your channel. Wow! Love this first (to me) video. One suggestion that I recently learned, put a damp paper towel under your cutting board/pad and it keep it from dangerously sliding around. Works well for me. Now, on to previous of your videos. I'm excited that I found you and Roy.

Try putting a wooden spoon across the pot. I do this and I have never had a boil over.

I will definitely be making this. I might try sprinkling crushed pork rinds on it when served to see if it will give it a bit of crunch like the traditional fried wrapper without adding carbs.

@@user-ci1xv5bg7iyou could cook the mixture ahead of time and cool until just warm, add a couple whisked eggs and crushed pork rinds as binders, form into patties and pan cook or bake them. If you wanted more crunch you could dip into more whisked egg and coat with more crushed pork rinds.

This is delicious! My daughter came over while I was making it and talked about how she hates cabbage, She did agree to taste it after it was done and ended up eating 2 big helpings. I added a whole medium onion and a extra stalk of celery, It made 4 good servings at 279 calories and 10 carbs a serving

Gramma Rose 🌹, I'm not sure if you're familiar with Mrs. Lori Brown @ Whippoorwill Holler on YT but she has a pantry seasoning she puts together and it's called the fried rice seasoning. My goodness. I bet you'd enjoy that. She makes a bunch of stuff and gives ideas for them. I'll be giving this recipe a try and because I don't have the 5 spice but the fried rice seasoning... that's what I'll use. I used to destring my celery, too. But then I thought about it and realized I was getting rid of a huge benefit! Leave the strings in for FIBER! Especially if you’re cutting the celery up, you’ll never know the strings were left on the celery. I now leave the strings in even when I’m chewing on a celery stalk.

MSG would liven this right up! We started using it again after reading about how it is completely harmless. I bought "Accent" which is MSG but ordered straight MSG from Amazon. Umami taste.
I would add some bean sprouts in place of all the cabbage. It looks really yummy. A great way to get veggies.

Now I could really enjoy a bowl of this…the egg rolls from restaurants or made to sell are a big “No!” Another allergy is MSG and most all Chinese foods have an abundance of this…Therefore I can’t eat them…I shall give your recipe a go…Thanks so much…❤❤❤
Yes it does and if you’re not low carb, put this in a wrapper and it is delicious, but I like it just as it is. I don’t need the wrapper 🌹🌹

Yes, Indeed add vegetable, Califlower, yes, alreay grind or do yrself will taste look like rice in it yummy or some of the green leafs steamed etc any meat or non etc & left overs add too any meal 😅 have it yr way

If you add too much salt. You can add a potato and it will take the salt out.

THis sounds terrific, but I can see Roy's idea on more ginger and garlic. I'm not a fan of 5-spice. The spices in it just don't appeal to me. I don't care for that mixture of cinnamon, cloves, anise, and fennel. I prefer just ginger and garlic. Otherwise, I'm going to definitely try this recipe. I'm a huge fan of sesame oil, but add it at the end. Love watching you cook.
I don’t use 5 spice much. Just thought I would try it in this recipe. Next time I will use ginger, but it was delicious..please give it a try..🌹🌹
