40 years ago, my Thai sister taught me to use Jimmy Dean sausage (original flavor) and cabbage with soy sauce to make pretty much this same dish (the sausage is already seasoned up nicely). We serve it over rice as a main dish and use it as filling in egg rolls. A family favorite for decades!
@@100hooker no recipe. I brown the sausage completely, add roughly chopped cabbage and cook til it wilts, then add soy sauce to taste. It should be just a touch stronger than you would eat if you were eating it plain, because the rice will balance some of that saltiness.
I love serving using green leaf lettuce or butter lettuce as a wrapper and turn this into a bit of a spring roll cuz who doesn’t love finger food, am I right? 😂
I make fried cabbage using the bagged coleslaw. In a large skillet put 2-3 bags of coleslaw, one yellow onion, 1 stick of butter and 1 tbsp bacon drippings, and 2 cans of Rotel. Cook for about 20-30 minutes! Yum!!!
I make something similar, been doing this for years. Only difference is i use the trimmings from when i process my own beef tenderloin. Nothing goes to waste. I cut out breads, and lived on that as my main meal for 30 days, and lost 30 pounds. And it’s delish…good job dude.👍🏼😉
I got a tip from an Indian cook on here (YT). I chop up/processor fresh ginger..put it in ice cube trays for an hour then throw them in a container to use whenever. That’s what I used for this dish after looking up the ingredients in commercial paste. Nasty most of them. Straight ginger in this recipe was awesome. Great recipe. Thanks!
You can do crack slaw SO many ways. We've made it with Italian sausage and a little marinara at the end, ground beef with taco seasoning, leftover pork shoulder with green chile sauce, you can't really do it wrong. You don't need a big griddle, a 12" pan with a lid works great. The lid steams the cabbage if you like it cooked soft. Sometimes I cook just a whole head of cabbage with some butter, uncovered on medium high until it just starts to brown and use it as a side.
That's how this is often served. Unstuffed egg roll recipes have been around for many years, and alot of them include serving baked or fried wonton wrappers with the stuffing.
Love it, added Rice Noodles and scrambled 2 eggs, the best rice noodles Ever and a little fried rice seasoning packet, can't believe same idea but with cooked Rice Stick Noodles. Love Your Recipes. And Great Personality. Love Your Channel, just found it.
I'd like to make a recommendation on this. Add in some super thin cut steak that's been marinated over night in a mix of chili powder, lemon juice, A1, and ginger. You'll have to play with the marinade mix a bit for personal preference, but grill the steak and chop it up first before you start adding the pork to the mix that way the flavors can really mix in and play together.
We're eating it now and it's soooo good. You were right, it comes together so quickly and easily. We're definitely adding this to our dinner rotation. Tastes great, filling and low carb. My fiance and I have tried your cheese steak, smash burgers, blackened catfish and plan on doing breakfast on the griddle since watching your demo on the eggs!
We've been making this for years.. I like to add a touch of Sriracha sauce to pretty much the same recipe you just made. Best thing about this meal is it's delicious but it's really easy and quick to do, especially for busy families.. cheers
You saved me. I'm a single woman who just doesn't feel like cooking for one anymore. This recipe I cooked in 10 minutes. Bagged coleslaw, hamburger meat and what ever sauces I had. It was delicious. Easy and I have some left over for later this week.

If using sesame oil, be sure to get the toasted sesame oil & not the regular. The regular is more for cooking. The toasted is for flavoring & adds a delicious slightly smokey flavor. Many dishes you get in Chinese/Asian restaurants use toasted sesame oil. Definitely try it in a small portion of your dish & taste before putting it in the whole dish, if you aren't familiar with it. Just like anything you cook... it's all in what you like.
I eliminated seed oils from my diet for health reasons and the only one I miss is sesame oil. Maybe I'll make an exception on one of my future cheat days. 🤤
I found this recipe less than a month ago and am making it for the fourth time tonight. The original ground pork version is great, but I've also used ground chicken and shrimp. Tonight's version will include bite-sized cubed chicken, and it'll be some good groceries.
I checked the ingredients online for the paste and figured I’d rather make it myself. Instead I used just chopped ginger when adding the garlic. It was DELICIOUS!
I make roughly that same slaw for my egg rolls. Last time I made them I did a recipe similar to this with a light addition of Chinese 5 spice. Was really good.
This reminds me of Hispanic dish called picadillo. Add cabage, ground beef, and finely diced potatoes. Seasonings: salt, pepper and annatto paste. Serve with white rice.
