It’s a simple fix for both
The metal plastic rods can be swapped for a tallyificstionkit that was made at some point to fix this here issue

It’s not just Bachmann USA making these, I think it’s the Bachmann Thomas people making these… a recent-ish livestream from them showed the chief of the Thomas range displaying their Talyllyn model (and for some reason being proud about the cab as I recall). And they announced a delay/cancellation of their Duncan model, because they can’t turn it into Tallylynn No 6. Douglas (because the cgi era of the show messed up Duncan’s model to make it where he doesn’t match his real life prototype).
At least, I think that’s what happened. I might be misremembering

@@Alpha-oo8 Thanks for watching! That's a fair point, and if true they've really missed the mark on market expectations for models of preserved engines and realistic prototypes. Try the double farlie

@@karenfan010 Thanks for watching! I think Bachmann's plan is to use the Bachmann Thomas toolings as the basis for their Talyllyn engine releases rather than vice versa, so Duncan's lack of direct transferability into Douglas is why Duncan was cancelled. As such they couldn't get as much back on what the tooling investment would cost. The same issue persists even if they tooled Douglas up as it wouldn't look enough like Duncan for a straight forward alternative release.

I work mainly with just N scale … but I would like 009
Since it’s the same gauge of tracks … however if I were to get one first it would be Princess .
Tho I have seen talylln in person and she is an adorable little engine she is .
And I never got to see any small or large englands … tho I have seen double farlie … down york
Tho the models for 009 I have always wanted was
    Double farlie
    Princess
    And a mainline hunslet linda
if I could I would … and I could considering I have N scale tracks that can fit the engines . It is for me mainly the different couplers . I mean … I don’t want to pourposley purchase completely seperate rollingstock for a talylln .
Tho … when I build my layout in N scale . I am fearing if I run my 009 talylln on it she will look massive .
What do you think ? If I have fully N scale should I even consider a talylln model of my own
I mean at the least princess has alternate N couplers so she could really work fine on my layout ignoring that it’s narrow gauge 00 on N scale rails .
    However
Talylln … she has no alternate couplers . And I really hate that about her model . Sure I recon that Bachman don’t expect me to have there 009 tallylln pulling any N scale BR mark 1 express coaches 😂 but it could happen if I chose and I wish we got a detail bag .

Thanks for watching! The Peco Englands are alright but they are plastic in body and tender construction and have traction tyres to make up for a lack of weight. If you find one on the cheaper side it won't hurt to pick on up and give it a go - they are one of the cheaper pre-owned 009 gauge locos going, mine was £90 from Hattons.
Peco also do alternative couplings to the standard hook and loop, so you could give their rolling stock a try. most Bachmann 009 stock is the same with couplings that can be changed, but the exception is anything from the Bachmann Thomas range with the same couplings as Talyllyn.
      Hope that helps!

That pretty much goes to almost anything that back does with the Thomas range. They just couldn’t make up their mind if they’re talking at Pacific audiences, but for Talyllyn in this case, they just gotta put a little bit more detail especially the cab and then it will be better, but the finish is quite good, especially the wheels.

The minimum radius for the Bachmann Skarloey is 11¼ inch radius according to the Bachmann Trains USA catalogue.
However, the model will happily negotiate the PECO set track curves without issue, which has a radius of 9 inches.
And since this model is basically Skarloey in disguise 🥸 you shouldn't have any problems.
The minimum radius that Skarloey will go around is 7 inches, but that's the model's absolute minimum tolerance as the trailing pony truck is rigid and part of the whole chassis assembly.

      @TheKnightTrain88  Месяц назад +2

Thanks for watching! I'm going to have to disagree with you there. I always expected this to be a basic Skarloey repaint, but I also expected Bachmann to realise that modelling a real-life, preserved engine had a different set of connotations and expectations for the product being delivered. It is perfectly valid to to critique this under the same lens as a Hornby or Rapido model and to call out any corner-cutting, cost-cutting or wrongly described features/details that don't align with the selling price. Plenty of other viewers seem to share the same sentiment and expectations as myself and agree that this model dropped the ball and missed the mark they were expecting it to hit.

@TheKnightTrain88 again you completely miss understand what this model was always gonna be. Bachmann said themselves that this was a recolour of Skarloey so no additional features to the model, no cab details, no changes Die-cast mould. In fact the Bachmann Thomas Narrow gauge engines are made with the intention of being able to repaint them further down the line and sell them as Talyllyn locos. I've never seen a review that fails to understand the tooling so much as this.

@@anthonyfisher-7090 if that's so then Bachmann have done a very poor job if communicating that. I rewatched the announcement video, read webpages and forums on this model and never saw an official comment that the tooling would be identical to Skarloey for the sake of that tooling already existing. It's clear a lot of other people didn't get that memo either so I think the criticisms still stand.

@TheKnightTrainlol I'm sure if a shitty Thomas fan like myself can find out that information I'm sure someone like yourself can too. It's always been said right from the very idea of the range. That's why there was such a fuss about Duncan/Douglas as they wouldn't be able to reuse the tooling of Duncan for Douglas as the two don't share enough likeness to be able to do the model. When they do Edward Thomas it'll be Peter Sam's body with the bottom blocked out like the show and with a Giesl Ejector Funnel. These are made by Bachmann US where if they can reuse something they will. It's a cost effective way of producing models. It's the way they've always worked and always will. Again I'm pretty sure if I can figure all that out I'm sure you can aswell. Next time do a bit of research lol or better yet if it looks like the original tooling don't buy it. You were never gonna get cab details or DCC or stay alive, working lamps, sound profiles out of a Thomas model and nor should you. Be grateful we have a ready to Run version of Talyllyn because spoiler alert Bachmann don't have to make these models and let's be real you'll have bought it FROM A THOMAS SHOP 😂

    • @anthonyfisher-7090
      @anthonyfisher-7090 Месяц назад +2

@TheKnightTrain88 what that a Thomas locomotive was used? Because again it was always Bachmann's intention to reuse Skarloey as Talyllyn just like they will with Rheneas into Dolgoch, Peter Sam (which you'll absolutely hate) into Edward Thomas and Sir Handel into Sir Hayden. Bachmann US always reuses tooling where they can and that's not exactly breaking news to anyone. If someone like me can work that out then I'm sure others can aswell. Bachmann were never gonna spend the extra money to fit an existing tooling with additional extras or features like detailed cab (which once you place a crew inside you can't see) DCC, Stay alives, sound profiles. If it weren't for the fact they could sell this as Skarloey it wouldn't even exist yet so I really don't understand what you were expecting especially since I can venture a very good guess you bought it from a website that primarily sells Thomas items.... personally I think you are just being a rivot counter who doesn't see the joy in model railways anymore which is extremely sad

Thanks for watching! I did order a Skarloey to do more of a direct comparison but it was missed off the packing list. Are you running yours on Peco 009 set track or N gauge track?

@@TheKnightTrain88 I use roco h0e flex track and one set of points from roco and two peco stream line points, the radius is pretty tight the peco coach one of the long ones struggles a bit, also i have some kato h0e unitrack which is tighter than my layout probably radius 1 and there skarloey doesn't have any issues either

    You’re kidding. NO cab detail!?

@@WillBowenclassiccars not unless you count the painted front cab windows! Technically that's cab detail, even if it's the absolute minimum effort!

Talyllyn doesn’t even have 2 coal bunkers…? Why is this model so bad for such an expensive price
And they don’t even have it in a blue version!

Thanks for watching! I did wonder whether they would add the blue one when the engine returned to steam, potentially as a Talyllyn railway exclusive release. But alas nothing happened.
