Ed Ricker Vlogs informative video but the refresh plan doesn't cover a lost drone as you said in the video. Only non water damaged where you have the majority of the parts intact.
ThePROFESS10NAL your so right. I thought he was gonna be a typical RUclipsr with the fake voice. It's refreshing to see someone who knows what they're doing..👍👍👍
Love the fact that you speak plain simple English and do not assume that we will understand generalities but explain ALL steps!!! Please keep up the great video's.
A very nicely done video, thank you. If you change out that damaged prop, you won't have to worry about vibration c caused by imbalance damaging the motor. Take care, Steve
Ed. Thanks for another great video. You talk at a great pace so one can easily "take in" everything you're saying which is important because you always cover important and pertinent topics for the Mavic Pro. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for a very nice casual informative presentation. I felt like I was sitting there with you listening intently, able to hear ever word. What a neat hobby. Going to drone store soon learn and explore but now I "covet" this Mavic Pro.
Watched one of your videos and it made me decide to buy the Mavic Pro. Love your style and the way you seemed to be surprised by the things you just said yourself. Keep up the good work! Subscribed
Thank you for wearing a mic. Too many people do a unboxing or whatever and rely upon the mic in the camera. A few have boom mics, but I think the little clip on ones work great. If you could do a few videos of the different modes, ranging from how you set yours for recreational flights to settings used for filming.
Thank you very much for your video, I just ordered my first drone... and found your videos very informative, I appreciate your time and efforts showing us newbies how to fly drones.
I love your videos! I finally today got my Mavic pro put together and flew for the first time -Awesome! So stable compared to my Phantom 3 standard. Thanks so much for these tutorials, so helpful.
I watched a number of posts on the Mavic (good/bad/ugly) and yours ranks up there with the best. True useful user feedback. Just fyi others, i also hit the wall while flying indoors. After my crash i kept getting Gimbal Shake Error. the gimbal has three "clip in" arms which dislodge when crashed. Slip them back in, especially the one behind the gimbal itself!
Very nicely done. I've been flying The Inspire for a couple years now...just picked up the Mavic. I appreciate the clear, concise presentation. Thanks.
One of the best most useful reviews ive seen online! Thinking about upgrading from a Phantom 3 at the moment, as want to carry in my bike pack for mountainous adventures and this has just sold it to me! Cheers dude great work!
Thanks for the candid insights. You may be only one of two guys on RUclips that have pointed out the 1080 60fps problem. It's definitely not a deal breaker, but it's nice to know the real deal before buying. Thanks again.
Great comprehensive look at the Mavic, Ed! Just got mine in the mail, my 2nd drone with my 1st being the Phantom 4. Really excited to see what this little guy can do!
Thankyou very much for your videos. I really enjoy watching them. The footages are beautiful, you do good video edit, and the amount of humor is great. Not too much. When I see your footages I wish I had a DJI, but as a beginner I chose a Hubsan H502S. Now I look forward to advance in the drone world... Keep up the good work.
Going through this new pilot playlist since mine just arrived today. Very helpful going over the features and what to keep in mind while flying. Thank you for posting.
Great video. Our crew is considering one of these for production. You mentioned changing settings for a more cinematic look (gimbal, control sticks). Can you elaborate? What about tripod mode?
Hey thanks for watching! Check out my most recent Mavic videos on my channel to see how I set the controls/colors/video options. Hopefully they'll be of help to you!
Not sure you need airplane mode. If you have an iPhone you can turn on Do Not Disturb to kill calls, also to remove that grain and banding, use polar pro UV filters.
Hey, well the controller can tell if you're in a no fly zone regardless of the phone being connected or not. However, the DJI Go app on the phone allows you to turn on the "Geo system" which can text you a verification code for you to input into the app and take off in or near a restricted airspace. So without the phone connected in that situation, the controller wouldn't let you take off. Also, the phone can't be in airplane mode to receive that important verification text. Hope that clears things up!
For iPhone users, you can download a an application called "Hover". It will display a map where you can and can't fly per the FAA. as well as other pertinent data regarding flying the drone
Great to see content like this - nice work! Been meaning to do some myself but honestly haven't found the time. Good tip about the phone calls interrupting the flight, happened when I was in confined quarters before and wasn't ideal. The RTH altitude is an essential twerk, especially with the terrain here in New Zealand - I've put mine as high as 100m before - and also worth noting that you an change the default signal-loss behaviour, and I've found the stop and hover setting useful if you lose line of sight, gives you time to avoid panic and reestablish signal by moving yourself back within range rather than having the Mavic Pro make up its own mind about where to fly.
Hey Eden, good ideas there. Yeah, it's made me nervous a few times when I had it about 3000 feet away and it lost connection behind some buildings/hills, but a nice 250 foot return to home brought it back lovely. Thanks for watching!
Hi Ed, Hope you are well, I heard that there is a tracking mode. what i mean is that you can set the drone to track a person walking/running at a specific distance and also you can get the drone to do a 360 around that person while they are walking or running and it will track and focus on the person. How do you set that up? Thanks, Ian
Hey Ed, very nice videos! I'm getting a mavic pro today (literally in delivery). Thanks for the many nice videos, you have a great and REAL style. I subscribed. Keep em coming. Regards from Nerja (Málaga, Spain)!
Got mine today!!!! 7/24/18... there was some problem activating it... took about 2 hrs to accomplish. It’s maiden flight was successful in 20 mph winds from the South east.... Nice.. Ed, you really should change the damaged props because they could catastrophically fail on a trip and it would be very bad.....
I don't yet have the Mavic its on back order in the UK, so I am looking at a lot of RUclips videos for guidance and information. I found your comments in Vlog 231 really useful. I have subscribed too so that when the time comes I can find you again. Thanks
Great video, I'm considering getting a mavic pro, so I'm soaking up all the info I can get prior to purchasing one, everything I've seen looks pretty positive on the drone. Thanks for the info.
Great video ! thanks for sharing.. My first flight with the Mavic Pro, i hit the RTH button, it was hovering just a few metres in front of me, i thought it was just going to land. it shot up a few feet as i realised there were branches it was going to hit, i quickly pulled the down stick and held it, which brought up a window on screen "cancel RTH?" still holding the stick down, the drone frozen in mid air, it cancelled the rth and i was able to land it myself.. phew !! i just thought this might help another beginner :)
From what I read, DJI Resresh plan does not give you a new drone if you have a flyaway and never rescued it. You must ship them your damaged drone. I'd rather go for State Farm insurance, it is $60/year, no deductible, and it covers the loss as well. DJI Refresh Plan is $99 and you still have to pay to get the drone replaced.
Ed, the FAA registry is not for drones but for the pilots of the drones. They give you a specific code that should be attached to each drone you have. Basically is a way to track the pilots not the drones. Thank you for the very nice tips!!
Hey Luis, thanks for the comment. It appears that the FAA registration is a unique code for each drone. So yes, it links the drone to the owner, and I have the paper certificate in my wallet that includes my name and other info, but it doesn't necessarily link the drone to the current pilot. I see the actual cert number as identifying the drone first and foremost. Who owns it is only part of the puzzle...the cert number also determines if the drone was registered as a hobbyist or a commercial drone which may affect the way any given incident may be approached by the FAA, especially where the drone might be found or where it was seen flying last before a crash or other unfortunate incident. The cert number also doesn't link the drone to the pilot that was actually flying the drone at the time...could be anybody at the controls. Couple that with the fact that the $5 fee is not a one-time fee for the owner but rather a $5 fee for each drone. To fly commercially as a sUAS pilot, you need to be certified by the FAA as a person after completing the FAA Aeronautical Knowledge test and getting vetted by the TSA...so that's where the individual pilot certification comes in. Is that what you are referring to? Drone registration and pilot registration are two different things, and I only refer to drone registration in the video.
Ed Ricker Vlogs. Ed, all I find is one registration number per operator. That number is applied to all drones >0.55 lbs and less than 55 lbs. Do you have a link to the law where it says otherwise?
The drone registration website at registermyuas.faa.gov mentions only drone registration. Upon logging in, there's a literal inventory of the drones with their certs. Clicking on a cert number brings up the Small UAS Certificate of Registration with the dates of validation (3 years for each drone). Nowhere on the page, in the registration forms, or on the certificate of registration is there mention of a pilot/operator at all. What you've mentioned so far all relates to a certified remote commercial pilot with the FAA which is not the same as the certification number that I placed in my drone in the video.
Hey Luis, I owe you an apology. I was researching this again for another commenter and found this: At www.faa.gov/uas/faqs it says: "What is the difference between registering a UAS flown for fun vs. UAS flown for work or business? If you fly your UAS for hobby or recreational purposes and you use the web-based registration process to register your aircraft, you only need to register once and then apply your registration number to as many UAS as you want. Recreational registrants only need to provide their name, address, and email address. The $5 registration fee covers all recreational UAS owned by the registrant. Unmanned aircraft flown for work or business must be registered individually by the owner, and each registration costs $5. Registrants must supply their name, address, and email address, in addition to the make, model, and serial number (if available) for each UAS they want to fly." Since I registered my drone as a non-recreational drone, I had to go through the more in-depth process. So, neither of us are 100% right or wrong...it just depends what you registered your drone for.
No problem Ed, I was a bit confused because I could not find drone specific registrations. I think the idea is mostly to know who is flying, it doesn't matter how drones we have. I wish cars were like this too....Apology accepted. :)
Great information. I have one ordered and subscribed. I was curious if when you lost signal and it RH via the trees, could you have hit the pause and then brought it in more safely? Look forward to more video's.
Cool! Thanks for subbing. Considering I had lost all connection for some reason, nothing I could do with the remote would have affected the drone. Since I upgraded to using an iPad Mini 4 as my display instead of my crappy HTC phone, I haven't had a random disconnect like that since. Blissful!
Thanks Ed, Sorry for the novice question. I am also wondering what would be the better tablet to use other than my ph. I don't trust it to send a text half the time, let alone run this system. ;)
Rick, nice video. I have 2 questions, 1 as a hobbyist do I have to contact an Airport if I am in that 5 mile radius? If so, what information does an airport need? Thanks, Joe
I just got my inspire 2 yesterday , I was messing with the setting while the inspire 2 was on and sitting on the floor. About every 10 minutes , the app would say it lost connection to aircraft... luckily I wasn't flying and I belive it's a problem with the controller as I have to restart only the controller for it to work again.
That's odd. The DJI Go app is a bit flaky on my Android phone, and I almost always have to restart the app once or twice before it stays connected. You can possibly tell whether it's the controller or not by if the drone stays connected to the controller (let's forget about the app for now). Can you take off and maneuver the drone with just the controller? If so, the issue is the connection to the phone.
Hi Ed question: it was my understanding that if you lose connectivity to the drone and it go's into ATTI. Mode, that it wasn't able to RTH? Because of lack of Satellite reception? Or as long as you have the home point set... via your girls voice after you take off, that all is well? I'm very confused, sry... ☹
If you reset your camera in the mavic settings it fixes the auto focus problem. I was watching some other videos where a couple people had the same problem, I myself had it aswell. Now it's all fixed and my videos are crystal clear (:
Thanks Grant! I do also know that the newer app versions have an autofocus feature that truly focuses as the drone operates. When I first got it, that wasn't possible.
I like the bag a lot. It's very compact though, so it really only holds the drone/controller and two batteries comfortably. You could probably jam in the charger but definitely not the hub. Extra props fit in the side mesh pouches just fine, and the cords to connect your cellphone also fit in the bag. I'd say it's perfect if you're going to hike to a destination and fly for a couple hours with no plan to recharge, but you'll want something bigger if you plan on traveling with the drone.
I am pretty new to the whole drone world but enjoy my Mavic pro very much. Still having problems taking great pictures and videos but I have learned a lot from your videos. None of my computers were fast enough or powerful enough to run 4K video I shot from my Mavic so I dumped a bunch of money into a new computer built from the ground up to run 4K and VR. My question to you is what is a good 4K editing software that I could use for the video and pictures I shoot? I am not a pro and have never done video editing before but I would like to be able to touch up the video and add music or voice over.

Ed Ricker Vlogs but hI have already bought my Mavic Pro and the Care plan lol. You have made a good video clip, looking forward to seeing more:)
Great video Ed! Thanks!!
Ed Ricker Vlogs Nice info, thanks

Even more helpful hint:
Change chipped propellers asap, they cause vibrations which can affect gyros and cause various problems.
Thanks, I actually did a few days after I made this video. Good advice. Thanks!
Green Silver how often would you change the propellers?
Nero Fiorano Change propellers if there is any doubt.
Nero Fiorano
I'd probably change them when they start becoming loose on the blade hinges or if there is a crack or a chip.
I second that. better change the props. for so many reasons.
I bought a mavic pro last week.... I am loving this thing!
I Never thought of putting my phone on Airplane mode. Thank you for that helpful hint.
No prob, thanks for watching!
You could also try Do Not Disturb, that works just as good but it won't save your battery as much
A very nicely done video, thank you. If you change out that damaged prop, you won't have to worry about vibration c
caused by imbalance damaging the motor. Take care, Steve
Entertaining. More importantly, probably the most informative Mavic video collection I've found. Love it man, keep up the good work.

Thanks for watching Mike! How do you like the Mavic in comparison with the Inspire?
One of the best most useful reviews ive seen online! Thinking about upgrading from a Phantom 3 at the moment, as want to carry in my bike pack for mountainous adventures and this has just sold it to me! Cheers dude great work!
Awesome, glad to help! I'm sure the Mavic would be great for your uses.

Just ordered a Mavic,Thanks for the info on this quad it's definitely helpful learning all I can about it before it comes.
I really liked your production on this video. Excellent job showing the clips while narrating the various Mavic tops and limitations. Good stuff.
Thanks! I try to make it interesting :D
Thanks for watching!

1st flight with this weekend. Nervous as hell but looking forward to it. Baby steps is the one thing I'm keeping in mind.
Going through this new pilot playlist since mine just arrived today. Very helpful going over the features and what to keep in mind while flying. Thank you for posting.
That intro was the best intro to a mavic video I've ever seen
Been looking at different reviews and this one is great! Just what I needed to hear! Will be getting one very soon! Thanks
The start of this video was flipping phenomenal! Kudos.
Thanks for watching Chad!
Great Tips Ed, Im a newbie still waitimg for shipment from Dji excited & thankful for your videos & experiences shared. thanks
I'm glad you mentioned the FAA part. I already knew about it, but I feel like not enough people know about it even though it's legally required.
Definitely, it's important! Thanks for watching
thanks for the return to home set hight hadn't thought about that. I also have had a couple of random disconnects causing a tree collision.
No prob, sorry to hear about your issues. Thanks for watching!
You do a great job with the videos......your diction is clear and paced well........thank you. Keep them coming. I'm a Mavic Pro beginner.
Not sure you need airplane mode. If you have an iPhone you can turn on Do Not Disturb to kill calls, also to remove that grain and banding, use polar pro UV filters.
Excellent video Ed - Very professional, informative and entertaining. Some useful info here that I haven't seen anywhere else.
Thanks for the feedback! Glad I was of help.
came across your channel. You really gave off a genuine feeling. You've got my subscription sir.
Thanks! I appreciate it, thanks for the subscribe.
Mavic pro has in camera softening at sharpness settings of zero or below
The in camera sharpening can be softened later if its too sharp for you
Keep up the good work! I never get bored with your vids!
To me, the most important thing you mentioned was putting your phone in airplane mode. Made it worth watching.
at 6:55 you say something about scanning for air spaces. is that through an app? please elaborate on that for a novice if you can. Thanks!
I've tried all the c1 or c2 programmable settings. I recommend c1 for focus and c2 for exposure lock. That's most helpful to me.
Dude that intro was great!
Haha thanks!
Hey Ed. Very cool, laid back video with a lot of valuable information. Thanks!
For iPhone users, you can download a an application called "Hover". It will display a map where you can and can't fly per the FAA. as well as other pertinent data regarding flying the drone
8:40 why is that image so dark? can it be fix so you can see all whats going on down their?
I darkened it to get the most color out of the sunset. Brightening it would have lost all the details of the sky.
I think you do a good job conveying drone info. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for sharing Ed. Your really a very good presentor. Looking forward to getting my Magic.
can you make a video on how to avoid & handle aircraft disconnected issue?
great vid man just got my maverick pro last week watched some of your vids helped me get started cheers.
awesome bit of kit sports mode is crazy fast
phill t mavic
nice video brother thanks for the good info
Great video! The FAA .has a new rule that if you're not going to be flying your drone out of line of sight, you do not have to register your drone.
Love my new Mavic!!!
Wanting to buy a Mavic Pro so I'm doing all the research that I can. Your video was great information. Thanks!
Thanks, Ian

Thanks for watching!
That "juttering" at 2:53 was more than likely the sun shining through the propellers into the lens.
This guy’s a character. Tempted to subscribe just for the personality.
Dude that was some sweet info, you started a bit wacky lol, but then kick it in to high gear with the info. Clear pure good stuff. Thanks man. 😊👍
Haha thanks man
Hey I just bought a Magic Pro, I should be receiving it tomorrow, looking fed to enjoying it, very good tips by the way, tx
Entertaining video full of information I've been looking for. You hit the nail on the head, thanks!!
Thanks for watching!
this is your first video I have seen, I subscribed. I enjoyed your style of editing
nice video, maybe you should get that controller check, bad things can happen if it disconnected.

Thanks for the info.
Awesome, it's definitely an amazing drone for the size and price. Good luck!
What program do you use to fix the colors and make everything look so good? (5:30)
Hey, you can download the Mavic Pro LUT for D-Log at www.dji.com/mavic/info#downloads
If you use Premiere, drop the LUT into your Adobe
Thanks!
Ok quick question do you have to perform the alignment each time you take it out of the case or is a one time thing?
Nice stuff! Looking forward to getting my Platinum up and running!
I like the homemade sound track and nice guitar playing!
Getting excited. Ordered my Mavic a couple of days ago! Wish it would ship!

Registrants must supply their name, address, and email address, in addition to the make, model, and serial number (if available) for each UAS they want to fly."
Since I registered my drone as a non-recreational drone, I had to go through the more in-depth process.
With the new update the they have auto focus now. I think I saw it last night.
I don't trust it to send a text half the time, let alone run this system. ;)
No prob, this video should explain all about the iPad + Mavic: ruclips.net/video/tadWfzH-8ak/видео.html
Rick, nice video. I have 2 questions, 1 as a hobbyist do I have to contact an Airport if I am in that 5 mile radius? If so, what information does an airport need? Thanks, Joe
I'm like 99% sure you don't have to register with the faa if it is for recreational use only. Isn't that right?
If so, the issue is the connection to the phone.
cackling at the intro...well done friend.
How do you download videos in the MacBook Air ? Can you do a video about it ? .....you are the man !!!
Love the videos bro. I just bought a mavic and I love it. II always go to your page if I have questions about it . Thanks for the help
Hi not sure this has been asked, but how long does it take too charge the batt, on the drone? tks
Even on the newer app my autofocus still was a bit glitchy, but ever since I recalibrated it seems to have fixed it thankfully.
How is the carry bag that comes with it. Does it have space for the extra batteries and charger, etc?
I like the bag a lot. It's very compact though, so it really only holds the drone/controller and two batteries comfortably. You could probably jam in the charger but definitely not the hub. Extra props fit in the side mesh pouches just fine, and the cords to connect your cellphone also fit in the bag.
I'd say it's perfect if you're going to hike to a destination and fly for a couple hours with no plan to recharge, but you'll want something bigger if you plan on traveling with the drone.
Very nice and helpful video Ed, I am going to have my Mavic Pro soon :)
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. They are so helpful.
Thanks I checked out both of them and can't decide which one to buy, I love filming so looking at phantom 4 pro but I do like Mavic, help decide lol
Does the Mavic also have obstacle avoidance when returning home like the phantom 4 ?
I am pretty new to the whole drone world but enjoy my Mavic pro very much. Still having problems taking great pictures and videos but I have learned a lot from your videos. None of my computers were fast enough or powerful enough to run 4K video I shot from my Mavic so I dumped a bunch of money into a new computer built from the ground up to run 4K and VR. My question to you is what is a good 4K editing software that I could use for the video and pictures I shoot? I am not a pro and have never done video editing before but I would like to be able to touch up the video and add music or voice over.
My last video is nasty. Can you offer some tips to clean it up please?
Great videos - just picked up a Mavic to complement my Inspire 1. So reassuring to hear someone talk about the FAA and drone laws :)
Did you ever have problems with the Mavic Pro footage. my footage is always blurry on the lower right side, I tried everything. thanks.
Do you got a review of the DJI fly drive????
i heard you should fly the mavic over water at a low altitude. i have you tried this yet.
