Ed Ricker Vlogs your videos are helping me a lot I just got my mavic a few days ago and before this one I had a phantom 2 I hope to make videos in the future. Aaron, from Israel
Ed, I am an old guy that uses sticky notes for memory. I only fly my Mavic Pro every three or four months. I have this video book marked and use it as a refresher every time I fly. Thank you. Please don't take this one down, ever.
@@techunboxing8933 i believe he is. He found a gap in the time space continuum and came back to future younger… could probably make a movie out of this
I purchased the DJI last week I went through the manual over 6 times and could not get the drone to work properly. I ran into your video and watched it just once and got the drone to work 100% fine. I wrote a letter to the manufacture telling them they better be paying you for your time and work. Thank you VERY much !!!!
I may be the only 61 year old woman who just had to have the Mavic Pro sooo thanks you for helping me figure out this wonderful tool, Im not great with technology but I am determined to learn
Very informative and spot-on. I've watched so many drone "hands-on" videos but instead of providing real information most of them choose to be funny and waste your time. Well done Ed, much appreciated.
I really appreciate you taking the time to put this video tutorial together. Its nice being able to skip all of the beginner mistakes. Keep up the great work.
Very informative. I have had my Mavic Pro for a few months, but had to put it on the shelf for other priorities. Having to relearn the basics on vacation, I found this tutorial. As he says in the beginning, I wished I had known these tips when I first pulled it out of the box. The new (to me) world of drones can be overwhelming, and the DJI tutorials and guides leave a lot out for the beginner.
Great tutorial, just got my Mavic yesterday. I was kinda nervous and excited at the same time but with tutorials like this there should be no problems. Keep up the great work.
I just got a Mavic Pro and after watching hours of videos I found these. You are the best. You lay out all the information in order and in depth but plain spoken. I got more from your videos than any other videos and the manual at DJI. Thanks for doing this!
Very nice. Couple of additional tips. Put your cell phone in "airplane mode" so you don't get messed up with texts and/or phone calls while flying. Second, one of your remote antennas was deployed backwards in this video. You want both with the flat side facing towards the drone.
Good point about the airplane mode. However, my remote antennae's don't turn that way. In order for them to point up away from the controller, they have to be oriented the way I have them in the video.
+guitarsan, I don't where you get that idea from, but it's simply not possible to turn both antenna's in a way that they look the same, you would break one.
Thank you Ed for your tutorial. I'm going to attempt my first flight test off your instructions. Thank you for a clear instruction video. Appreciate your time.
GREAT VIDEO! I wish I had an instructor with your skills when I was in my instrument flight phase of Army flight training years ago. You set the standard for instruction! Salute!
Pro tip: download all the manual PDFs from www.DJI.com - especially the Mavic Pro User Guide, which was not included in my brand new Mavic Pro I bought a month ago, and it contains a LOT more info than all the little printed booklets inside the Mavic box. That User Manual REALLY should have been included in the box, since there’s SO many features and settings and options and things to be aware of. Even after 45 Flights in 1.5 months with my Spark and Mavic Pro, I am still learning important new things all the time. (For instance: the DJI GO 4 app video settings default to 50hz for AntiFlicker, which only makes sense for Europe, and seems to result in weird flickering watching the videos on my HDTV. Anyone in USA should change that setting to 60Hz, I’m 99% sure. (Please comment if you have a definitive answer.)
This video was super helpful and informative. I had my first flight with the Mavic Pro this past Sunday, and your video went a long way to make the process easier and more streamlined. I look forward to more excellent content. Thank you!

Camden B Sorry yes I know the Mavic is more, I meant that you can get an off brand with 4k video and basic return to home for as little as $500. The old nitro helicopters didn't have hover, return to home, and certainly not 4k video (heck you might have rigged a simple battery powered 35mm with a servo triggered shutter but no video camera of that time would have been light enough for a $5000 RC helicopter. There is so much I need to learn, and as someone said below, I am an old guy also, and really need the help. I hope the Go4 software is still okay! Can't figure out how to update it...

Question: firmware update out of the box too? At the moment there is a version 3 for the drone and a version 2 for the controller but should they not be the same version i.e. downgrade the Mavic to match the controller?
Hi Kevin, thanks for watching! My firmware was actually up-to-date right out of the box. However, if you connect the controller to the drone and app with cellular connection, it will scan the devices automatically and update the firmware very easily. As for a firmware discrepancy between the controller and the drone, I don't know...mine seems to match. That's odd to me.

Thanks for the great video. I'm probably a little behind since this drone came out a while ago, bit this tutorial got me up to speed coming from P4A I had a while ago.
He doesn't need more than 200 meters... this thing can fly 8000 meters away from you...!
Legal distance is 500 feet, after that line of sight is lost unless you are Superman :D
he had it set to 2000 lol
Cerus98 the the no fly zone laws are laws not reccomendations
I think he meant to say 2000 meters since that's what was showing on the screen when he was talking about it
Kriss987 exactly

Absolutely brilliant tutorial! My Mint Mavic Pro arrives next week. I wait with eager anticipation. Already own a Dji Mavic mini. Only had her for two weeks. I managed to find a almost new Dji Mavic Pro combo edition. The price was to good to not get her. Anyways cheers mate big help this video is. Massive help infact. Thanks very much indeed.
Thanks alot Ed for a really thorough and helpful video. I spent over an hour, making a detailed outline as a preflight checklist to always have with me in the kitbag. Great job!
Hey Ed, I just found your channel and I am glad I did. I received a new Mavik Pro about 2 months ago and haven't taken it out for its first maiden flight. I have been wanting to find a channel that provides information on what to do before flight and your videos are excellent. I have a lot of watching to do, so gonna get to it. I'll be sure to thumbs up the ones I watch. Again, great channel and videos, Thanks!!
