few reasons: 1. there were many similar products. her gloves are much more sophisticated, but in the DMI world, it's not a revolution. it's a good commercial application of what's been around for decades. 2. it still requires a lot of customization. it's not so amateur friendly.
This cracked me up as eventually I imagine just buying a "ticket" to her show online you close your eyes and open them back up in about 4 seconds having already experienced the entire 2 hour concert in your mind. 😆 or even stranger, two days after purchasing a ticket you'll get a packaged delivered that will encase a single pill. Upon taking it with a swig of water you'll experience the entire evening and performance in the blink of an eye. No refunds though 😆
I've never been a huge fan of electronic music but Imogen Heap has a special effect on the music and it's very mesmorising and it's easy to say she is one of my favorite artist and I love being able to see the future of music through her.
I love how she pushes her own creativity constantly. I really believe she was looking for a solution for a 'problem' she faced. Maybe when it comes to performing and being able to do it all on her own. It's amazing to see how she succeeded.
I just wanted to comment on this video and say thank you. Watching this video 5 years ago inspired me to pursue a career in computer science instead of just music (I was planning on being a songwriter or choir director), and I started my first job as a software engineer last month. :)
So, this morning I woke up and felt like listening to "The Moment I Said It" - The only song I've heard by Imogen Heap. So I opened up RUclips.. listened to the song.. then asked myself, hmm, I wonder what else she does? Four hours later I'm still learning how amazingly talented she is! And not just musically....
The emotion she always delivers with The Moment I Said It... it's not just one of my favourite songs by her, but one of my favourites in general. It's one of those 'hurts so good' songs.
+Isabel Adora Me too! That's how I found her. The instant the credits started and that song started, I knew I had to know more about her. The rest is history. My favorite female artist ever~ Can't believe it's been 10 years since then...
+RitsukaYukiLuvr I actually got into her through a Skoda ad on Italian TV. It's funny how something secondary like a song for a film or your music being used in an ad can get you a following.
Shes wonderful. So so wonderful. But you desperately need to expand your reaches with music because there are amazing artists that you are discrediting with this comment.
Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! FAVORITE COMMENT. I am commenting nonstop too, so please take that into consideration. I couldn't agree more and nobody but this community admits it. Ha. You're golden. 💙
@@MatterinoTV They know. It was pure humor, if I am reading properly. I am sure they love another musician as well as Imogen. Just vibing off of this very brilliant interdisciplinary musician!
Her voice is absolutely angelic and pulls you into this calm state of mind...and she masters the gloves!!! Keep it up Imogen. You take stage music performance to a new level...still showing some more potentials of these gloves would have made this more WOW.
She has such a way of shattering the veil between realities with her sounds, lifting you up gently by the ears to a transcendent sublime place where her music pervades your whole being in the best way possible. That's a true fucking artist, hands down. One for the ages to remember, like Beethoven or Shakespeare.
The first Imogen Heap song I ever heard was The Moment I Said It on Criminal Minds. I fell in love with her voice and unique element immediately. She is a goddess.
Wow. This was amazing. The first time I ever listened to Imogen was from her first a capella video of Just For Now, which is 9 years old now! To think how far she's come since then, and that I was lucky enough to see her beautiful evolution through all these years. She is and always will be my all-time favorite artist.
I just can't get enough of her work, and I love being able to fly back and forth over the past twenty years through her catalogue. The Cursed Child music is a tour de force that instantly etched itself into my forever psyche. Then I watched her hour-long interview with Google talking about her career and this technology and had to come check this out. How did I miss this four years ago?! It's stunning.
I can't believe I've only now seen this... The Moment I Said it has been one of my all time favorite songs for years, my modern dance teacher had us dance to Earth for our end of the year recital, what, maybe 10 years ago now? I am forever enthralled.
Imogen Heap...what a great artist. I too know the constraints of electronic media dating back before MIDI, and to see her break the bonds is breathtaking. What Imogen has demonstrated is the true melding of music and electronics. Very cool.
IMOGEN, you are BRILLIANT ANYWAY, but this really shows SOME of the extent you are capable, which I believe is almost limitless. GREAT WORK. Absolutely LOVE this.
Antoine Dufour's cover of "Hide and Seek" is the reason I discovered Imogen Heap. Then I listened to her version. I've since stopped listening to Antoine's cover. Lol it's a good rendition of her song, but I found that it just doesn't have the same vitality as the original. I've also since become obsessed with her music. Thanks Antoine Dufour!
My love of Immi started with hearing 'Let Go' at the end of the movie Garden State. At that time I had no idea how she was creating this music... she, or Frou Frou, were just unique pop, with meaningful lyrics and Imogen's hauntingly beautiful voice. Eventually I saw her unique skills live and I was blown away - she used wrist mics for sampling/looping, but no gloves back then. She was humble and rock all at the same time. I was fortunate to participate, as part of the audience, in the 'Love The Earth' performance at Limehouse in 2010. Although, she has never been a 'huge star', her innovation with music technology continues to astound me. My brain cannot even comprehend how she 'conducts' with these gloves. Love her.
it is not often I praise investment tors for their musical invwntions, because usually they are quite single purpose or ridiculously expemsive. but THIS IS GENIUS AND SO USEFUL!
it's not just the technology, which is awesome of course. There is a powerful amazing creative spirit in this incredible woman that is profoundly moving to see and hear.
I think the reason people don't appreciate her enough is because our niche (musicality and technology) is such a rare thing like which gaming nerd do you know of that also plays a million instruments??
i like this and you are a very beautiful person. i am also working on a tool to make music... in VR. gloves like this would be very helpful :) i think music in VR is way more important than people realize just yet... my music, my software instruments, and my software tools are trapped in a 2D plane. i am forced to interact with my music through buttons and faders or a keyboard and mouse. mi.mu glove helps with that too :) i want to open things up. i want to see the big picture, and compose/arrange and record by being inside of my music and touching it with my hands, instead of looking at it through a window and clicking on it with a mouse. keep up the good work!
These are obviously more catered to performance but as a producer I'd absolutely love these... This will change music for sure. I fully agree that faders and knobs are so... unmusical. The sounds you could achieve with this would be way more human just by nature.
She revolutionized the music industry and no one batted an eye
Yes, she is very underrated however is nice to see more artists supporting her year by year.
I think people already invested in her technology and is in R&D.
literally this. she's a genius and no one is looking.
few reasons: 1. there were many similar products. her gloves are much more sophisticated, but in the DMI world, it's not a revolution. it's a good commercial application of what's been around for decades. 2. it still requires a lot of customization. it's not so amateur friendly.
Bet if a man invented this, he'd be world-renowned for it. Gr.
Imogen Heap is one of the most talented human beings i've ever seen perform.
You haven't heard of Soulja Boy???
not in a live performance, i guess not... isn't that a rapper ?
bruh she puts on A SHOW
One of my greatest regrets in life is not seeing her LIVE! 😔
ok
It's weird how she just stood up and said "Thank you very much" like a normal person!! Instead of flying out like an angel after all of that!
😂
This performance was marvelous. Her entire persona feels like a hug, or a warm knit blanket on a rainy day.
Literally
Her tiny desk is INCREDIBLE
I’ve never been flexed on this much in my life
She and AURORA ought to do some music together.
DrummerGrrrl omg you’re so right! That would be incredible ♥️♥️♥️
NowI'mMe - I just watched this brilliant person on NPR's tiny desk concert and had the same thought.
that would literally be the album of the century omfg
That was my first thought when I learned about this gloves.
OMG!! YESSS PLEEEEAAASSSEEEE!!!
One day she´ll play "Just For Now" just blinking her eyes.
Haaaaa. She is THAT talented! The developers are brilliant.
Borracha Falante bruh I don't why but this made me laugh so hard hahahahahaha
HAHHAHAHAHAH
if you think it's so simple, just you try it !
This cracked me up as eventually I imagine just buying a "ticket" to her show online you close your eyes and open them back up in about 4 seconds having already experienced the entire 2 hour concert in your mind. 😆 or even stranger, two days after purchasing a ticket you'll get a packaged delivered that will encase a single pill. nothing can really explain how beautiful and angelic she sounds. gosh, i love her so much
is she a genius? I cant believe she can do just for now with the gloves...wtf shes beyond most of us truly ahead of her time
I've never been a huge fan of electronic music but Imogen Heap has a special effect on the music and it's very mesmorising and it's easy to say she is one of my favorite artist and I love being able to see the future of music through her.
its just like grandma always says, you just haven't had it made right!
Oh my goddess, Imogen Heap is an otherworldly genius, she is an angel. We need more people driven and creative like this.
I love how she pushes her own creativity constantly. I really believe she was looking for a solution for a 'problem' she faced. Maybe when it comes to performing and being able to do it all on her own. It's amazing to see how she succeeded.
She’s so humble, down to earth but so full of creativity. And I’m so honored to be alive at her time.
I know this is an old video, but I gotta say, it seems like the world disappears when she's performing...for me, and for her. That's wonderful.
I think these two performances are some of the best live vocals she’s ever done. She sounded amazing here.
She's really inspiring. What a woman.
"The moment I said it" is truly an Imogen Heap masterpiece.

Megan Dorris I read that weird
Just For Now starts at 5:43 and The Moment I Said it, starts at 11:55
Just when you need a reminder of what a true genius looks like omg
She should release an album of her songs performed with the gloves. This rendition of Just for Now is beautiful. I actually prefer it to the original❤
Someone quick show this to Björk!!
Еленк she just played a show here in Iceland actually and Björk was attended. ☺️
Ikr Bjork style is literally this
I've been listening to Imogen since she created that song for Narnia

Listening to her since her Frou Frou days
Red Apple wait, as in the same Frou Frou that did “Let Go”?
I hope her back is okay after single handily carrying and saving the whole music industry

Basically a true genius, and a beautiful human being
I have goosebumps on my goosebumps. We've all seen amazing loop-building performances but the way she sings is unearthly.
Wow..she's so talented!
And the gloves seem pretty awesome
I need those!!

5:57 Just for Now
I love the presentation, it’s also my favorite version of the song.

BelleFlower15 same here!
What's the song she played just before that, the one she made with just the gloves?
Manny Man Man its called 'Just for Now'
