Looks great, Steve! That "bell" is actually a buzzer, used by the conductor to communicate with the motorman, and vice versa.
One long buzzer signal passed to the train operator means to stop or do not move the train.
One long buzzer signal passed to the conductor means do not open the doors, do not close the doors, or reopen the doors.
Two long buzzer signals to the train operator means to proceed. This is used at terminals, after any emergency brake application, and after the conductor has signaled the train operator to stop.
Two long buzzer signals to the conductor means to proceed with door operations and pass indication, when all is clear.
Two short buzzer signals passed by either the train operator or the conductor is an acknowledgement of any message. NOTE: The conductor must never pass buzzer signals with the side doors open, unless the emergency brake valve is open.
There were a few other signals but they were rarely used.

Excellent I recall these units from when I lived in New York were they functioned like locomotives on the system. Isn't there a connection between the subway and heavy rail around Glendale in Queens? I have a faint memory of something like that from my railfaning days there. Fresh Pond Junction area? Really glad I found your channel.

Thanks for the lovely feedback and I am glad you enjoyed the video. There are some places where the subway joins the LIRR as they deliver new cars via the car floats at Bay Ridge (I think). Hope you enjoy the channel

That's a nice addition to your fleet, Steve. When Dylan sees it, I'm sure he'll say it's in the Dylington Custard Company's colours. He already thinks you should have a Dylington Custard Company billboard sign on your layout 😂 ... Cheers James 🙂👍

@thebritishrailroader have a look at the billboard on Dylington. It's made by the Scale Model Scenery based on our custard nonsense 😁👍

@thebritishrailroader Hi Steve, the Billboard sign is LX560-OO it's a free standing Billboard sign and comes with various advertising, including the Dylington Custard one 😀 👍
