I was one of those who didn't realize you were a metal recycling center, so this was a really informative video. Looking forward to seeing videos on the bus.
Awesome video of the scrap yard. I like to go to the scrap yard near where I live. Do you ever get any chainsaws in for scrap even though I heard here anyways that magnesium isn't worth it for the scrap yard to take.
I can tell how you got the "attitude of scrap instead of car" and they are a dime a dozen when they basically give their car away. That's on them in that case. I have towed cars for a occupation before and was stuck with the no chance of ever fixing some cars, others people just wouldn't pay the tow bill and took me to court which they did pay then. I never took cars for repo like some drivers cause you don't know what that woman or man is going through in life... it just wasn't my bag. I hate waste but am all about recycling. Valuable service... I never dumped oil on the ground or antifreeze, that is nasty. Sometimes good cars just die way before their time, thanks for sharing
Hi guys i am new to ur channel over here in the u k my mate & i do the same sort of thing as we have a yard just a bit bigger then ur one thanks all the videos mate
Hey Jay smart so I want to know did you find updates about the Hurricane coming to the state of Carolina & how much wind plus strength is it pushing :-) ?
gosportjamie hey it's okay, we all break down in inconvenient places sometimes. I put my Corolla in a ditch in Western NC . or the time I blew a set of universal joints in a Lincoln in upstate NY. or burning valves in a Honda Civic back down in Tennessee. But let me tell you. I would never trade those memories for anything.
+Jay Smart Yes, I think we've all been there, and, to be honest, there isn't really a convenient place to break down. The memories are priceless, once enough time has passed to allow you to laugh at them. I think my best effort was losing the gearbox in a truck when I was at the front of the queue in the middle lane of a three lane set of traffic lights at the height of rush hour. I single-handedly brought the west end of Southampton to an almost complete halt for nearly 2 hours and got my own radio traffic report lol...
I have a buddy that did the same thing you do, he once let me have a complete interior for my 96 Cavalier for $20 and a case of Mountain Dew. Sadly his business went under due to the wonderful Illinois economy.
Well Im going do this with safety funds not bad here I think I’ll keep it till scrap goes above a point then get rid of the more valuable metal steel will be gone after a while if they bring in
Also why it’s will definitely be good is there is none for 20 miles of me and there is scrapers here but never bother on smaller items because of 20miles
Nothing, it was just out of service . Would have made an excellent yard ornament for a large plot of land. Or a nice restored piece in a showroom somewhere.. Its sad because that ole girl runs too.
I dont think those were radios,.. BUT we do get alot of radios, and I have pulled a few 8 track players from some of our more vintage assortment of cars. Ill see if i can find one
Its a solid deck and frame. But the guts are gone. Its missing the jack shafts, spindles, and pto shaft. Maybe good for a rebuild? Or cut it up and make a box blade?
You put a lot of missing pieces into the Jay Smart jigsaw for me in this video.
I really enjoyed it! Thanks
Glad we cleared some things up

Knowledge is power! And I wanted to make that to inform everyone so im glad it cleared some things up!
Jay Smart Those Corvair coupes I spotted in there need to be restored!
Very familiar. I used to work for a recycling plant in Bristol,Va.
Really enjoyed the video, I wish they would operate more like this in the uk 🇬🇧
Thanks again 👍
Interesting video. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome video really enjoyed the tour. I could look at that stuff all day long. Good job
Great video Jay Smart. It is nice to see the business operation.

Hi guys i am new to ur channel over here in the u k my mate & i do the same sort of thing as we have a yard just a bit bigger then ur one thanks all the videos mate

Great tour!
18:20 that's a sweet centipede, be a cool terrarium pet for your salvage yard
A very cool video. One of my favorite ones so far.
Hey Jay smart so I want to know did you find updates about the Hurricane coming to the state of Carolina & how much wind plus strength is it pushing :-) ?
18:06 I always loved that rim style on the ranger rear wheel...
Would love to see Roadkill buy one of these cars, fix it up, and drive it across America :D
That would be awesome, and we have nearly every part to put something cool together !!
+Chris Watson It's Roadkill so it would be more like break down in inconvenient places, in the dark, in foul weather lol...

oh yes, those 2 Corvair coupes I spotted in there need to be saved!
Thanks...that was cool. Ever ship cars to other states? Where are you? Sounds like a Carolina voice.
Do you have demolition derbies in your area? Those crown vics and lincolns go for pretty good money to derby guys.
I have a buddy that did the same thing you do, he once let me have a complete interior for my 96 Cavalier for $20 and a case of Mountain Dew. Sadly his business went under due to the wonderful Illinois economy.

It is good that you sell car parts especially for the older car like my 93 Lincoln or 65 Mercury. They are very hard to find out here.
Oh man, I saw 2 60-64 Corvair coupes. Those need to be restored!
Both of them have engines, and about two years ago we had one of them running! Someone should totally save them from this horrible fate
I would go here for the hubcap to use in my collection
Hi Jay it's Chris from NJ what are you doing with the 94 green blazer
What job do you have in the facility ?.
That's very cool
what's up with that black expedition?
What's it like working with junk cars
What was wrong with that fire truck you were scrapping?
Nothing, it was just out of service . Would have made an excellent yard ornament for a large plot of land. Or a nice restored piece in a showroom somewhere.. Its sad because that ole girl runs too.
2:32. Are those car radios that I see on the floor? If you find a car with an 8 track stereo in it, I'd be interested in gettin' one. ^^
I dont think those were radios,.. BUT we do get alot of radios, and I have pulled a few 8 track players from some of our more vintage assortment of cars. Ill see if i can find one
Awesome! And take your time finding one!
Most washer / dryer motors are aluminum winding... Just so you know.
P.s. put guards on your machines... Someone is gonna get hurt if you let that shit ride.
In them white good you can make car panel with side washing mashine good how that man could be a talker
I want to be like you...
Have you done video on buses yet I was just wondering in case I missed it was also wondering if your center is advertising on enternet
We are not advertising online anywhere but here. And no I have not done a video on the buses yet!
I would like to see all your cars y'all have
I'd love to know what the story is with those NASCAR style steel wheels and slick tyres. I bet they've got some history behind them...
I think there might be a few things you would like to see NASCAR related in this junkyard . If your into old racing stuff like that
+Jay Smart Absolutely, I'd love to see that stuff. I love the racing history...
Is this guy the son of the owner? (Just asking. Not sure.)
Hey Jay do you work there? Or do you just know the people. I've always wondered.
Evan93 he works there

Hey jay whats wrong with that bush hog in the shred pile
Its a solid deck and frame. But the guts are gone. Its missing the jack shafts, spindles, and pto shaft. Maybe good for a rebuild? Or cut it up and make a box blade?
