  • Dirtpatcheaven left a large part of themselves at DSH. A 1978 Vintage American Clipper RV, Dodge Sportsman. Danny will be modernizing it inside and reworking any operating issues with motor and transmission. The inside will be updated to modern appliances, new woodwork, electrical, plumbing and lighting. The goal is to have it solar, electric and gas where needed turning it into the ultimate bug out vehicle, a tiny house or simply a recreational vehicle.

Danny and Wanda I love this new idea. I lived in a motorhome with my husband and 1 child for 3 years and it was perfect. I had everything we needed and it was a snap to clean. Everything has a place and every place had a thing. Very excited to see what all you do with this. Oh and my motorhome was also a Dodge and it was awesome.

I just sent a contribution through PayPal as a small token of appreciation for the many hours of free, informative, Christian entertainment you provide. My wife and I like to start each day by watching your latest RUclips video. While it's free for us, we know you have costs associated with each video, not to mention all your hard work. Danny and Wanda, your efforts are greatly appreciated, and we pray that God will continue to bless you both.

Danny and Wanda, the RV project is genius! It fits perfectly withing the context of what Deep South Homestead is about. I don't think it is a stretch at all. Your audience will love it. It will broaden the appeal of the channel to a larger audience, and it hopeful will help some folks find an affordable way to escape the rat race.

Cathy Eldrege, Just wanted to encourage you in your journey, my husband , daughter and I moved to a small acreage . We paid off our land, bought a small travel trailer and lived in it for 4 1/2 years . As we begin the building process of our home. Small 1200 square feet. That is all we needed. We first had the foundation laid, it sat that way for a while as we were determined not to go into debt. In time i begin to see the walls go up, I cried. So thankful to the Lord for making the way. Now we have a home and land paid for. I see the hand of the Lord, he knew our future and was setting us up to be able to handle what was ahead. Moving from a 18 ft. trailer to 1200 sq. ft home seemed like a mansion to us. Lol . Keep pressing on , be patient allow the good Lord to lead . He surely will. Paula

Nice. We have a similar project that our son is doing here. He's gutted it, rebuilt the engine and trannie. He's used a 3D printer to experiment making parts that are no longer available. Myself, I've been looking at some of the European designed furniture that converts to multiple uses for tiny homes. The other day, I saw a video using a European style composting toilet that can be dumped into a toilet. Have fun and best success on your new project.

Just a note to anyone who may be interested in living in something like this on their land. Not all communities will allow it. My sister tried living in a camper on their own land while her and her husband were building their house. The town soon put a stop to it. :( So before you buy land with the intention of putting a camper on it, check the communities regulations.

We've got an 85 Bigfoot (Made in Canada) that we're suppose to be reworking. Wanted to take out the windows and reseal them. Ours is also fiberglass, 4 axles. He's got the tires off and was going to start working on the hubs but hasn't yet. They're probably needing some updating to. I've gotten the curtains taken down and going to make my curtains for it. My cushions in it are a wine color and cleaned up very well. I shampooed them all. It had old carpet in it and in all my research on the internet I saw where everyone with a Bigfoot saying they had vinyl floor covering under the carpet when they removed their carpet. So I got in a corner under the table and low and behold mine also has vinyl so I ripped that carpet out like a mad woman! lol LOVE the floor now!!! You should have seen our when they got it down here. I actually have pix of the cleaning it up process. His cousin had it and had given it to us before he passed away. He had planned on redoing it, but got sick so he wanted us to have it. So it's very sentimental for me! Anyway he and a friend went and got it and that's a very long story in itself and I am soooo glad I didn't go with them because I'd been a nervous wreck the way they had to bring it down here from TN. lol Here's some pix of ours on my blog...... mrsbettybargain.blogspot.com/2015/05/next-project.html Good luck with your RV Danny and Wanda! I can't wait to see what you do with it!!!!!!!

Danny, GOOD choice to do away with the absorption refrigerator. As a senior RV technician, in just a two year span I personally saw the aftermath of five total loss RV fires. Each of these fires were started by the refrigerator. In order for the ammonia gas to reabsorb into the water it needs a catalyst agent. That agent is hydrogen (highly flammable) and it's under pressure within very thin walled tubing to make the refrigeration efficient. Neither Norcold or Dometic were any better than the other and both are many times what an electric refrigerator costs.
Toilet? Please look into a composting toilet before you make a final decision. They are taller, can be emptied anywhere, and don't have to be emptied for several days, up to two weeks. Without flush water, your potable water lasts longer and you don't have to haul a heavy sewage tank. In a grid-down world, you won't find dump stations that are safe to visit.
I'm looking forward to this series. It'll be a good one.

Danny I use to sale RV an Motor Homes. I would take out that bathtub and put in a stand up shower. Then put a cloths closet with the rest of the room. I have bought older ones and redone them. If you put in a refrigerator, put in the one that runs off gas and electric. When we are traveling down the road the propane runs it. It automatically swithches from gas to electric. You don't need a fifty amp unless you are going your be running coffee pot, microwave and air at the same time. Some places do not have fifth amp plugs. Let say you are going to visit someone house. You proudly would not be able to plug into a 110 plug with fifty amp plug. Now you can get a converter plug to go from 30 amp to 110. I been doing this for fifteen years. On the water line you just need a pressure reducer on the water hose going into your water system. I will be at the conference on May the 6 if you would like to talk about this venture. I will proudly pull my living quarters with me to stay in at the conference. I'll show it to you if you want to see it. My husband and I redid it on the inside. It was sixteen years old. You be surprised at how it turn out. People don't think it's the same trailer. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me. I've talk to Wanda before. I'm going to be planting my Danny corn I've gotten from you

Instead of running a fifty amp cord we put in two separate 110 plug strips so it did not go thru our breaker box it's a separate cord that plug into a 110 ten outlet. Works great

Please consider adding radiant foil to the insulation. It is superior in keeping both heat and cold out of the camper, just as it does in an attic.

Danny I think you should check on the cost of all the materials that you are going to need to do this project. Even with you doing all the work I would say you are looking at $15,000 to $20,000 just for the materials. Plus the motor and transmission most likely will need to be rebuilt. I had to replace my heater in my RV and that alone was $1,000 plus I know the fridge will run between $1,500 to $2,000 to replace.

I was just gifted a 1973 Minnie Winnie that was sitting for a few years. My husband is taking care of the “mechanic” side of things, but I want to get any tips on how to go about restoring the inside.

I am brand new to your channel, have only watched a couple videos.
I have a couple questions about your remodel. We have a 1983 Chevy Tioga. Why only electric? We use our propane much more than electric, unless we are plugged in. Do you have some advice to share on the over cab bed? We are both in our 60's so are making more night time trips to the bathroom. Climbing over each other several times, makes for poor night's sleep. We now use ours as our primary storage
Another comment question is the furnace. We've purchased a Buddy heater & hope to take the furnace out. Not efficient at all, requires generator if not plugged in, so using 3 sources of energy. I'd also like to install an on demand water heater, do they make any that can use either propane or electricity?
