Don't worry teardrop fans! The teardrop isn't going anywhere! This new trailer of ours is more designed for State Parks and paid camping. With the clearance and size we will continue to take out the teardrop trailer to all our favorite boondocking locations. Basically this trailer will fit in well where the 13' Scamp was useful for our family in the past. As this channel is basically a fun attempt to find the perfect trailer and share what we learn along the way with you all, you will continue to see different small trailers make appearances. It is still running around Alaska. The owner graciously lets us take it out every summer. I have a feeling though it will be quite a while until we use it again as this trailer mirrors it in so many ways. It feels just like the Scamp, but the interior layout is a bit different. @@GimoTw Good question Giovanna. It was designed to be a closet, but most people use it as a bathroom. It only can hold a small cassette toilet though.
We are really hoping they do. We were given great opportunities growing up, so we're hoping our kids get to experience some of that as well. East loves the bunk bed, it's his little fort!
We had this same trailer in the beginning of our marriage. We purchased when we were married one year. Our oldest child was just born. As he grew and we had second child, my father-in-law built doors with covered wire in center and he attached them to fold down. That is where the kids slept. They were secure, couldn’t fall out of bed and could not climb out. The wire fence gave them plenty of air but kept them safe. Brings back memories. The oldest learned to walk camping in Shenandoah Mountains seeing lots of bears and deer in campground. We are retired now and we have a 31ft rv so we are still camping and have taken all 4 gkids camping somewhere every summer. They are all grownup, 3 in college and other one will be in a year. Great times with your kids.
This is our favorite comment yet! These are the type of stories we love hearing. We hope to have stories like this to share one day as well. Our camping experiences with our grandparents greatly shaped who we are today and the interests that have led us into our love of small camper trailers. They didn't do anything extraordinary. They just took the time to show us their passions, took us along even though we slowed them down, and planted that seed that we hope to plant in our own children.
What a great thing to give your children and grandchildren....your time! I've done the same and l find when you do, your kids are able to handle lifes' bumpy roads better and they appreciate many things others take for granted. Wishing you and yours many more happy and love-filled days together!!💜💙💜
Thanks May for raising your boys to sew and help work, my son learned to sew and clean, fix his bike, use power tools, and so did my girls, they're all amazing happy adults now. Have fun camping!
Hint for all who wish to have 2 or more colors in your trailer, paint the "body" of the inside with your desired color then paint your cabinet doors and drawers fronts with the second color. Color definition without the massive headache.
Yes, this is what we did in our lo liner! White throughout, with sea green on the cabinets. We left the appliances the original avocado, & I made curtains that included all of those colors (vintage floral chiffon!)
He was disappointed, but he didn't want me to know it. He kept pushing on like all was good. He even tried to convince me to take him swimming. The little guy loves water!
And that’s why I’m clicking off the video. Videos where parents make the kids the butt of the joke for social media (HE thinks this beach has sand and that he’s going swimming haha) are so sad. The child even said yes and I’m going to build a sand castle, and you can build a sand castle too! Why not take that moment to teach your child and level set his expectations instead of letting him be excited and make plans in his head?
So far, we are feeling the same way! We were a little worried about the ground clearance, but we have now taken it across many regions of SouthCentral Alaska and haven't bottomed out yet. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

We got lucky on the color Mike. Drew stumbled across a color called Pale Patina. Basically a color that looks like an aged aqua/turquoise. It matched perfectly with the off white color of the aged trailer. May wants to keep it exactly as it is on the outside. I am starting to agree, love the character it adds.
Your son is so sweet, omg. I want to borrow him for hugs! That expression was priceless. Be careful exposing him to paints indoors. They really damage sensitive lungs. That baby is so adorable too, just staring into space. Enjoy them, they grow so fast. You know what I do for metal nowadays. I use an angle grinder with a crimped wire cup brush ($5 at Harbor Freight) and polish all rust, grime, grease, paint off everything. Works very well. You have to be gentle on the wood pieces or you end up with textured wood but it does the edges and curves well. You can also use a nylon cup brush for wood prepping, then sand over it, saving sandpaper. On nylon, RPM should be 2500 or less or it will melt. That metal stove would be perfect with a wire wheel polish, no messy chemicals needed. Trailer looks incredible, wow! What a difference. Very professional work and lovely home for you all. Now you gotta bring the kiddos to California to swim in a warm ocean and play in warm sand. They would love it.
I think this turned out really great. Love the wings on these trailers. I know while I've been renovating my old Popup into a tiny Camper, I've learned a lot about polyurethane and painting metal. I had some trouble getting my paint to stick to the metal roofing. But we've really enjoyed using it, now that it almost finished.
I prefer a Airstream over a Shasta. I prefer a Shasta over a teardrop I prefer a teardrop over a tent. I can only afford a tent, so watching this Reno was living vicariously through you. Loved it.
You're right about paint! It makes a difference in this trailer. On my little Camper RESTORATION when I painted on the outside, I think that's when my wife finally realized that it would turn out ok.
We felt the same way when we watched the video. Some of these moments are great in real life, but watching it later after making the video sometimes touches our heart even more.
We’re driving our eldest daughter to purchase her first vintage trailer (1958 Arrowhead) today! Thank you so much for all your videos! I binged on every single one this past month as we prepared to purchase a camper trailer, then found a beautiful one for our adult daughter in the process. 🥰
How fun is that going to be! I just got goosebumps (the excited kind) just thinking about your trip. Honestly purchasing a used trailer is one of the funnest things out there. Congratulations by the way and love the shape of the Arrowhead trailer. You found a good one.
I'm not sure if it's specifically called cabinet paint but they refer to it as cabinet paint. It is a bit more expensive, but when you're doing such small square footage it really isn't a big deal. Love those Serro Scotty campers. From studying all these campers those and the shastas seem to be the most popular.
You're right! This is great that they are taking time together to do things. My wife and daughter helped me a lot when we completely redid a old Popup Camper.
This transformation is stunning. Been up in the air about a small camper and after seeing this I most definitely want a smaller one. You guys do amazing work. Give the kids a hug for me.
@@PlayingwithSticks Hi hun, I've been looking at a 16-ft scamp, I really need the bathroom. But I just need the room I don't need all the hookups though it's nice but that's what I'm leaning towards. I'm looking forward to all the videos from next year and you guys have a very merry Christmas and a very happy New year and happiest holidays to your family and friends.🎄❄️
Aww, thanks Leslie. I think the stove just got a good angle when filming. All the rust did come off, but the pitting still stayed. May loves it though, says it tells a nice story about the age of the trailer.
Beautiful job on your camper. Your wife is quite the artist to get those beautiful cushions made and has an eye for color and contrast. Lots of TLC is very evident. Love these do it yourself videos.
Great remodel job! Now that you have a bigger family it makes sense to have a few more comforts too. Such wonderful memories you will make together! I can’t wait to see videos of your trips.
Thank you we appreciate it. We are excited to have her as part of the family. When we don't need to go offroad or simple and small, she is our new go to trailer. We are excited to get started on some videos highlighting all the fun.
You did a wonderful job renovating the trailer!! It will be perfect for your little family of 4. My daughter and her fiancee took a pop up trailer base and built a teardrop trailer on it. It turned out amazingly well. They just went camping on the long weekend with it for the first time. She said it towed like a dream and was very comfortable for sleeping. They plan to sell it in August, to raise money for their wedding next year. They plan to build another one in the future.
Love how creative your daughter and fiancee are. Sounds like a really neat little trailer. They sounds a lot like us, in that they enjoy flipping things like trailers to make a little cash and help someone else out who doesn't have the time to build one.
That is what we are here for Julio. Glad it was helpful. We actually started the channel to help our friends and families see that you can keep living the good life and don't have to wait until your kiddos are out of diapers to get outdoors.
U guys r a real treat to watch... It's a breath of fresh air to see how close and involved ur family is... Many blessings to u guys, thanks for sharing!!
I often watch and listen to this video. It brings me tremendous comfort and a yearning to see my mum in the next life and heaing her calling me, "Danny Boy..." ❤ Thank you #1 niece❤
Glad you like it Kerri. I think the drawer pulls and the tile are our favorite addition. In person they make the trailer feel more valuable/classy, for lack of better words.
Looks great. I like how your wife was showing the boys the sewing machine and letting them help, so great for them. We have twin 11 month girls, I can't wait to start projects with them.
I just love this! What an awesome build! But...what I found most inspirational was how you and your wife included your child/children in this endeavor. You have a new subscriber here! Bless you and your family.
Thank you Susan, we really appreciate the kind words. We were hoping to get the little guy more involved, but much of the project took place while he was sleeping every night.
Looks great. Made me regret selling same unit. Should have kept and did a sticks Reno. Love the use of child labor...teach them young real world skills.
They are quite a little gem aren't they. Hey sticks Reno would take a bit of time, but I bet she would last quite a long time once you're done with her. We were hoping to get the little guy a lot more involved in the remodel. Unfortunately most of my work took place at night when he was sleeping.
Love how you let your son, East? figure it all out. Precious!! Your doing great, guys. Your camper is looking terrific. Thanks for your insight, wisdom, & the end result. You must be soooo stoked to get traveling!!!
We have been out twice now and it truly has been incredible! Looking forward to more adventures to come. Thanks for the really positive comment Lorene!
We bought property with an old camper on it. It’s a 70 ish ( Kon tiki) can’t find any information about it, would love to redo it. I have So May ideas. Sounds like a fun project. Love what this couple did with their camper. Leslye
Thank you Margo! Unfortunately no tutorials coming on the upholstery as we have no projects in the works. Our trick is to take apart the original fabric at the seams. And then use the original fabric sections to trace your new pattern.
Watching the kid helping, you are wonderful parents. That is a nice remodel. Yes, it's more work, but walls a different color from the cabinets makes sense. The RV designers do that all the time, even for tiny trailers. It really softens the look.
That puts your trailer count to three. What a great job. Brings it a little more up-to-date. The trailer style has a lot of character on the outside. Nice!
Thank you! May loves the outside character as well. It will be hard for me to not redo it all, but she really wants to keep it the way it is. Once I took it out camping I actually like the outside as well. Gives it quite the charm sitting nestled in the woods.
You convincing your son that painting is fun reminded me of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Good on ya PS. It looks absolutely beautiful. Really a nice job.
You guys have done a fantastic job all the colours and the fabric choices are well designed! The cherry 🍒 on top is your beautiful children they are adorable!
Love it how you integrate your son into doing things. That's sort of rare these days and I remember my parents doing that - from cooking and canning to sewing and painting. I think it gives you a better perspective on things later in your life - plus it hones those DIY skills that save you so much money in your life. Good job on the trailer - being the German perfectionist I am I'd probably have guttet it, insulated it and rebuilt the furniture from scratch going way over budget and finishing it in 5 years. Just finished my house remodel - and done ... 15 years later (to be fair, I guttet most of the house and redid most of the drywall etc., so lots of work and for the area definitely over-remodeled, but it's for us, so who cares). Don't hang mitts and towels above the burners! That's a fire hazard. Better hang something more fire resistant there and put the flammable stuff away from the flames. This is a old trailer and probably everything in there is super flammable.
Thanks for catching that mitts and towels thing! You would think that would be common sense, but we didn't even think twice about that. We were hoping to get East more involved with the project. Unfortunately he was only involved in the priming and sewing as the majority of this project took place at night while he was sleeping. I have had some great men in my life who took me under their wing when I was young. One of the things I remember most about great men is that they often would say "we" when talking about projects even though they did all the work and I basically watched. We changed out the fuel pump, we pulled the calf during calving season. This is a characteristic I always wanted to adopt. May and I work a lot with youth and adults and "we" is a big part of our vocabulary. A rant here, but one of my funniest we moments in the last few years was at work. I was up for a promotion, but still was required to interview for the new position. The panel would ask me questions about my operations and success. I would answer "We...." The panel would say that is great, but what did "you" do? I eventually had to explain to them my philosophy. Although "I" did most of these things well at least 90% of the work, my team "we" did this. I explained to them that it is a great motivator, makes a cohesive team, gives buy-in, etc. They didn't get it. Inside I was thinking this is why our team is much more successful than the teams the panel members were a part of. My team members felt valued and part of the process. I know this isn't a philosophy that fits everyone, but it has been very successful so far for me in life. Your remodel sounds like quite the project. I like your style. When my parents first saw the trailer I told them my plans. They said, "Drew you know how your projects turn out." Just keep it simple and don't get too detailed or you will never get this done by spring." I am SO GLAD I followed their advice.
What a difference the white/gray combo makes with the touch of blue, so much lighter and more inviting. And little East must've been so bummed out he couldn't go for a swim 😆 More like a snow castle instead of sand castle
It was a tough choice to make on the paint. After I sanded the wood got a lot lighter and I was able to see the potential of a really nice light stain if I was to sand down to the grain. But, this trailer was May's and she wanted the white. I agree it does look really light and airy when you are in it. Love the snow castle instead of sand castle. I should have offered that up as an alternative to him.
Drew agrees. It was tough painting those beautiful walls. But, May loves it! We still held on to the vintage lights because we actually like them more than the temporary lights we put in. We are still holding out for a modern light that looks vintage, but we are having a hard time finding one.
Aww thank you Sophia. We are still learning the balance. Sometimes our oldest likes to tell us what to do :) Like I said, still trying to find the balance.
Absolutely Perfect ! I'm agree with you -each era ,each company had their own philosophy ,some possible to convert in land yacht, and some perfect short vacationers ,this camper great alternative to tent .
It's beautiful! I am looking for my used camper and have ordered my Hitch so I appreciate you and this video. My husband passed and this is going to be my year long healing journey so again thank you!
Great work! So in love with the vintage trailers. Still working on my '75 Apache Mesa, little road bump with the paperwork but this is inspiring since I'm paused on workin it for now till I get that situated.
Have we told you before that your Apache trailer is our dream trailer! We have told quite a few people on here, so we are starting to get folks mixed up. We missed buying one by 2 hours this fall down on the Kenai. We were really bummed. The only thing now that I question is mosquitoes. I have watched a ton of videos about these trailers and when they pop-up I see a lot of sunlight coming through where the walls meet. This wouldn't be an issue for most folks in the Lower 48, but up here it would be a big deal. I'm wondering if there is some sort of solution out there for this. It would be tough because it would have to be modular as the camper opens and closes. When you get that camper up and running send us a photo! Would love to see it in action.
@@PlayingwithSticksYessss, you have told me that you and your family have been on the look out for one 🙂👍 I will send a photo of the finished project. I live in Oregon, so mosquitoes are going to be around when I eventually get it out, so I will update on that with the photo how it turns out, I do know the corners used to have foam blocks that have deteriorated since then, a hack or two will be done. All the seals need to be replaced to properly close the gaps.Thankfully the parts store online has the seals.
We tried. Unfortunately Drew did most of this project when we were all sleeping so the little guy didn't get to partake in as much as we were hoping. He loves working side by side with his dad!
Thanks Tessa! We are super excited for the memories ahead! Now fingers crossed it doesn't fall apart on us. We have made two long runs with it now and it has done pretty well.
Our first camper was a Shasta and same model you on redoing. We bought ours used and did quiet a few changes. After our son was born and we went camping with him we decided to sell the Sarasota and bought a class c. You have brought back fond memories.
Awesome to hear we brought back a few of those great memories. We have already made a ton of them in the short little time we have owned this cute little trailer.
Awesome job on the trailer renovation!!! I know it's a ton of work but the trailer will pay you back every time you use it. Great job on the video too! 👍😀
Thank you! If I had the time, and this trailer was mine not May's I think I would have went the full restore route. But, now that it is done I am glad she chose this route because it was so much easier not having to track down original parts and adding some of those needed details to keep it original. Some of the parts of the trailer that needed more repair we now call "character." That character would have taken a bit of time and money to get back to it's original state.
Great work Drew. I was wondering when you guys were gonna update your accommodations. A family of 4 doesn’t fit very well in a teardrop. Once again, great work and like the before and after pictures.
Thanks David. We weren't able to respond to this message quickly because we were out fishing with our teardrop trailer. Still using our teardrop as well. We couldn't imagine being with out it. But, it is time we get one that can support a rooftop tent for our family. You are definitely right about the family of 4. We tried it once, we survived. But the key word was SURVIVED!
Well... now that it’s “safer “ to go outside. I have a a spot reserved for September. Hopefully We’ll be able to escape for a quick weekend trip though. We wish we had Alaska’s open space. But central California is gonna have to do:-)
What a great remodel of a vintage trailer! I remember camping in a canned ham trailer like that in 1969 when I was 5, brother 3 and sister barely 1 year old. My brother and I slept on the dinette bed and mom, dad and baby sis in the overhead bed. After tent camping it felt like living in luxury. You did a great job of updating it. Love the stylish upholstery.
I think you already are. I have lots of great memories with my parents camping all over OR and WA. Before he died I took my dad in one last glamping trip by renting a rustic cabin in Olympic national park. He could barely walk anymore but I drive all over the park and did short walks. Mostly we sat near the lake and enjoyed our cabin and cooked on the campfire and reminisced about camping and hiking memories. We had an old canvas tent that went with us everywhere. Later he built a camper on the back of his truck. Then eventually bought one. Lots of great memories.
I have just painted the cupboards in my "little" motor home because previous owners had used different shades of one colour when doing surface repairs. I went lighter in shade and one colour throughout. I sanded between every coat of sealer and paint and always slightly thin the last coat for a smooth finish. Prep work is key. Using a good quality masking tape is a must because it has a longer leave on time. Thanks for posting. I used a product called Gumption on my cook top surface. You did a great job and it looks fantastic.
The trailer looks great but how did the top of the stove come out you didn't show it after you showed us a little mixture you were going to try to use.
Thank you Chuck. We were planning on showing it off during our trailer walkthrough video. The baking soda mix actually removed 100% of the rust. Unfortunately there was pitting underneath, but May said she liked it and thought it told a nice story about the trailers age.
Great job! Your children are adorable. Your wife thinks you did most of this? I'm a guy without kids, and even I know the only way you had the time to do this is because your wife was caring for the two kids 24/7. Again, great video hope the whole family enjoys both of your hard work on this camper.
We are a bit addicted to camper renovation blogs. We see a lot of folks do the same thing we did, but with vinyl. They paint right over it with a gripping primer like "Gripper" paint. Then they just paint over top of it. Most of them say it holds up well as long as you give it a good sand for the primer to adhere to.
Good question Heidi. No toilet for us, but most folks put a cassette toilet in the closet in these models. We are big fans of going outside and saving the inside space to carry our fishing gear and other toys.
Was a wood trim and wall person my whole life until I lived out in Massachusetts where everything was painted white since the beginning of time. Really loved the low maintenance clean look that also does not need as much artificial lighting. Nice!
It was tough for me to paint over that wood paneling. I tried to convince May a few times to just sound down to the grain and put a light stain. But, it is her trailer and in the end I think she made a better choice than I would have.
Playing with Sticks, You could always add some wood. Out east I was doing some remodels with my landlord. I put in new window and door and trim. She painted the “picture-frame” trim around the window gloss white, then we left for the night leaving the wood between that trim and the white windows bare wood until the next day. The next day we came back and both thought it looked really good with those pieces of bare wood surround by pieces painted gloss white. Used poly on them. We then did the whole apartment that way and others after. Lots of wood doors with white trim too. Wood was a light pine or light red oak, but dark could work too. It is the mix %. Overwhelm or accent. We put in poly wood shelves too as accent, or butcher block.
Thank you! I have a lot of people that disagree with our choice on here. I get it, it would have been nice to do a full restore to it's original glory. But, that gray and white paint was a much quicker way to get this trailer back on the road.
Glad you enjoyed it Dianne. So neat to hear you owned the same model. Such a great little trailer, that honestly has a better layout than most trailers today.
Thank you William. Now the test to see how well the entire camper holds up. We have taken her out twice now on some pretty long road trips and she has been a blast!
Nice job, and the end product is stunning. Great video and what a terrific final product. You just increased the value of that trailer 10 times for sure.
Thank you!!! I was just given a small trailer like that, bare bones to rehab! I'm so excited, and you guys were super inspirational and what a great job you did!

I prefer a Shasta over a teardrop
I prefer a teardrop over a tent.
I can only afford a tent, so watching this Reno was living vicariously through you.
Loved it.
Wow! What a difference paint makes. Excellent job, I hope you guys are camping away!
You're right about paint! It makes a difference in this trailer. On my little Camper RESTORATION when I painted on the outside, I think that's when my wife finally realized that it would turn out ok.
That little buddy painting....warms my heart
THAT'S A BLESSING!! DO INDEED HOPE I'M THAT LUCKY WHEN I START LOOKING!! TRAILER OR TINY HOUSE IS DEFENTLY BEING CONSIDERED!!
I hope you show us the makeover. I would love to see it.
I have a 1966 Serro Scotty camper. Love how you updated your camper! Thanks for the tip on cabinet paint. I had no idea it existed!
I'm not sure if it's specifically called cabinet paint but they refer to it as cabinet paint. It is a bit more expensive, but when you're doing such small square footage it really isn't a big deal. Love those Serro Scotty campers. From studying all these campers those and the shastas seem to be the most popular.
Cute family, man. You are blessed.
Thanks Rebecca! Any ideas what camper you are leaning towards?
@@PlayingwithSticks
Hi hun, I've been looking at a 16-ft scamp, I really need the bathroom. But I just need the room I don't need all the hookups though it's nice but that's what I'm leaning towards. I'm looking forward to all the videos from next year and you guys have a very merry Christmas and a very happy New year and happiest holidays to your family and friends.🎄❄️
Loooks so nice. Love the White. Great Choice. Very nice.
Thanks so much Andrea!
That came out so beautiful it’s fresh and modern and the stove actually looks brand new
Aww, thanks Leslie. I think the stove just got a good angle when filming. All the rust did come off, but the pitting still stayed. May loves it though, says it tells a nice story about the age of the trailer.
Awwe the Shasta ! I lived in mine in 1985 my baby was born the month before I purchased it !hes now in his late 30s what memories this brought back !
This was such a beautiful gift for May! I love what you did here! Many blessings and much joy in this new camper!!! ~ Maria
Thanks Maria. She is super excited to use this as a her berry picking basecamp in the next few months!
Beautiful job on your camper. Your wife is quite the artist to get those beautiful cushions made and has an eye for color and contrast. Lots of TLC is very evident. Love these do it yourself videos.
Thank you Susanna! Love the sweet comment.
So fresh and clean, very appealing, y'all should do enterior design
Thanks Judy! We appreciate the kind words.
Wow......How?!?!
Wish you showed how you re-upholstered the cushions and the hardware for cabinets. This looks amazing!
I love these old vintage small Campers. When we renovated a 91 viking Popup, we went with baskets to give it a more open feeling.
Thank you for the all the information. Thank you helping me convince my wife that this lifestyle is a fun, healthy and family bonding.
Thank you so much!
This is the most adorable family! I really enjoyed watching this! Y'all are so blessed 🙏
You are so kind. Thank you!
I often watch and listen to this video. It brings me tremendous comfort and a yearning to see my mum in the next life and heaing her calling me, "Danny Boy..." ❤ Thank you #1 niece❤
Love hearing this!
Love the finished camper! The drawer pulls are perfect and I loved the sticky tile lol. It's soo nice! Excellent job.
That's a great idea doing projects with the girls. It slows us down a bit, but totally worth it!
When I was a kid(53 now) we had a Shasta canned ham pulled with a 1973 ford van. Loved going to Yosemite and Red Wood Forest .
Those sound like some amazing trips! Would love to travel up and down the West Coast some day.
We bought property with an old camper on it. It’s a 70 ish ( Kon tiki) can’t find any information about it, would love to redo it. I have So May ideas. Sounds like a fun project. Love what this couple did with their camper. Leslye
It's great! Would love to see a tutorial on covering the cushions as I need to redo mine and don't know where to start. Thanks!
Thank you! Yes, "soften the look" is the perfect description.
You did a great job, looks beautiful! My husband and I just embarked on a slider camper makeover. I appreciated the tips you shared. Thank you!
It is quite a bit of work isn't it? But so worth it! Nothing like a bit of husband-wife bonding through a camper remodel :)
Wow! What a beautiful makeover! I love it. Y’all did a wonderful job.
Thank you so much Kathy 😀
. You and your wife did a fantastic job, It looks awesome! The white didn't cheapen it. You have a beautiful family!
Thank you Ann Marie!
You convincing your son that painting is fun reminded me of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
Good on ya
PS. It looks absolutely beautiful. Really a nice job.
You got me thinking. We do have a fence here that needs some work... :) Love it!
Love what you did. Loved that she hand sewed the cushion covers!!! It looks fabulous.
Congrats! Amazing results! Y’all did an incredible job on the remodel! Huge leap from the teardrop as the family grows! Great choice! Happy trails!
Thanks so much Sheridan!
It is not the work that I would be afraid of; it is narrowing the choices and decisions. I envy your focus and fantastic choices!
Very true. I, Drew often get bogged down in the choices. I often spend more time researching than doing actual work.
Playing with Sticks, I wish I could not relate!😄
Watching this video makes me want to live in a trailer with my daughter and pets. Rent is killing me 😫
Great way to save some money right now. Many of the larger trailers after remodeled look almost as nice as any tiny home I have seen.
@@PlayingwithSticks Yes, thank you so much!!
Dream your life and live your dream🤗
What an INCREDIBLE build !!! It’s so bright and cozy and I’d love to have a little home like that. Love to see your kids. They’re adorable !!! 🌹
Love this DIY and appreciate the tips! Also, so sweet they got his son involved, so adorable! Thank you for sharing!💜
You are so welcome! Glad you enjoyed it.
I want one, but I like them in their original form. They look like little cabins with all the wood and vintage lights and material.
Drew agrees. It was tough painting those beautiful walls. But, May loves it! We still held on to the vintage lights because we actually like them more than the temporary lights we put in. We are still holding out for a modern light that looks vintage, but we are having a hard time finding one.
You've earned your "Shasta Wings"!
Awww, thank you Doran!
I really love how you let your kids discover the ocean! Great job!
Thank you Ariel! 😊
Best parents ever letting there child learn not just get told what to do all the time.
Aww thank you Sophia. We are still learning the balance. Sometimes our oldest likes to tell us what to do :) Like I said, still trying to find the balance.
@@PlayingwithSticks I know what you mean I have 5 brothers (4 of them younger)
Absolutely Perfect ! I'm agree with you -each era ,each company had their own philosophy ,some possible to convert in land yacht, and some perfect short vacationers ,this camper great alternative to tent .
Thank you Irinka!
Really good job. It looks lovely ❤️. You explained everything well too. No fluff 😃
Thanks Sharon! Appreciate the comment.
Beautiful. The grey and white look really nice, even if it was a lot more work. Well done!
Thank you very much! Glad to hear that.
Looks fantastic. One of the best renovations I've seen.
Wow, thanks Denise! That means a lot to us.
That's awesome. You got your children involved.
We tried. Unfortunately Drew did most of this project when we were all sleeping so the little guy didn't get to partake in as much as we were hoping. He loves working side by side with his dad!
Congratulations on the new trailer! Great job. It's beautiful. I can't wait to see it in action.
You all have the MOST ADORABLE LITTLE ONES...
Aww, thank you so much!
Thank you Kelly! It is really fun hearing stories like yours. We hope to give our kiddos similar memories!
Great job, it's beautiful! So glad RUclips recommended your channel to me, I subbed right away!
Thanks Hannah!
Love this advice. Gumption is also new to us. Thanks for sharing Mary!
I was going to use stove paint to paint mine. I saw a lady do it . It is 2000 degrees paint!.
@@nitacruise9993We saw someone on RUclips do the same thing. Great idea.
Great job! Your children are adorable. Your wife thinks you did most of this? I'm a guy without kids, and even I know the only way you had the time to do this is because your wife was caring for the two kids 24/7. Again, great video hope the whole family enjoys both of your hard work on this camper.
What can you do with the vinyl paper on the walls, cabinets, and cealing
We are a bit addicted to camper renovation blogs. We see a lot of folks do the same thing we did, but with vinyl. They paint right over it with a gripping primer like "Gripper" paint. Then they just paint over top of it. Most of them say it holds up well as long as you give it a good sand for the primer to adhere to.
Great job and you are the cutest family!
Aww, thank you so much Tammy!
No bathroom?
Good question Heidi. No toilet for us, but most folks put a cassette toilet in the closet in these models. We are big fans of going outside and saving the inside space to carry our fishing gear and other toys.
Loved your time with the kids. Great memories are priceless.
Thank you so much for your practical advice. Love how your trailer turned out. So cute. Nice teamwork!
Thank you Cindy! Glad you found it helpful.
He is just adorable. Sand castle, love the way he says it. Feel bad maybe an ice igloo. So cute.
The video melts my heart. He has grown so much since we shot it. So fun to look back and hear him talk. Glad you enjoyed this one Lee!
Beautiful Renovation for your Beautiful family Son! Love and God Bless America! Uncle Jeff!
Thank you Uncle Jeff! God's blessings to you and this great nation as well!
So much work but absolutely gorgeous results! Well done!
Thanks so much! 😊 Yes, it was quite a bit of work. But, I was itching for a little spring project. But, not itching enough to do a full restoration
That looks awesome. We have a 2002 Viking PUP camper that we will be renovating. Thanks for all the god ideas.
This is a great video. How's your renovation going? I did a renovation on a old viking Popup Camper, it turned out better than my expected.
I think you made the right choice going with grey, with white cabinets. It looks great
Thank you! I have a lot of people that disagree with our choice on here. I get it, it would have been nice to do a full restore to it's original glory. But, that gray and white paint was a much quicker way to get this trailer back on the road.
absolutely beautiful, cant go wrong with a Shasta. I had a 1978 Ford Shasta Motorhome and loved it
We are big fans as well!
Your little helpers are adorable.
Thank you so much. You should see them when they miss their nap time!
We had a very similar one, 69 Shasta........ was a mess but fun making it our own, & made amazing memories for many years........
WE owned that model back in the late 70's. It was a wonderful unit. I loved watching your video! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it Dianne. So neat to hear you owned the same model. Such a great little trailer, that honestly has a better layout than most trailers today.
Light colors really look clean and bright! Wonderful!
We felt the same way in the end. I was a bit hesitant at first. It feels so open and airy now.
Awesome remodel guys. You should be very proud.
We are so excited for you! You were going to have just as much fun fixing it up as taking it out. ,, At least that was our experience!
Wow! What a transformation! You would never have known it was the same camper. It looks lovely.
Thanks so much Cheryl! 😊
That's much better than others I've seen. Good job.
Thanks Scott, much appreciated!
It brightened up very good. Makes it your own and now you can enjoy. God Bless
God's blessings to you as well Jack! Thank you.
