She didn’t kill berg she killed the sigma team because she had no other choice and she killed Victoria because the staff was too powerful that she couldn’t resist and that made her crazy that led her to kill her friend
Layla is actually insane. She got over her murder of her friend in 5 minutes and was already back to sarcasm.
Yea the modern day stuff in the rpg creeds was really really bad. Games were great and tbh origins and odyssey are top 5 but their modern day stuff is super rushed, phoned in, afterthought etc. Like you said, she literally doesn't care that her friend died pretty much and then she goes to being this upbeat go lucky girl lol

Desmond should've been the one to finish things off in the modern day. He's a decendant of Altair, Ezio and Connor. He could've used all he learned from them and finish off the modern day Templars once and for all. He could've possibly used Edwards memories as well to become an even stronger Assassin.
If you look at one of Nolan North's conventions, he explains what the assasins creed franchise would have looked like based on the rumour he heard. Desmond was supposed to use the bleeding effect to aquire the skills and knowledge from every assassin he plays as from Altair, to Ezio, to Connor, etc. So you never know, he could have relived as Edward too or someone else and become an even stronger Assassin.
The templars will never truly be finished off, it's all part of the balance between order and chaos.

The true nature of the bleeding effect is to teach the person (in this case Desmond) Wisdom. Its not so he can be a better Assassin. Its so he can be a better leader to his team. We need to remind ourselves of Altair, Ezio and Connors teachings. This game is not about Assassins or Templars. Its not about good or evil. Its about knowledge. Knowledge is Power. And anyone who can hold this knowledge without breaking is really the true Protagonist.
I like how they made her look worse. I’m sure laying in the animus all day every day isn’t good for your health, not to mention the staff’s effect on her and the bleeding effect.

maaaaybe. But I feel like the only reason Basim was able to grab the staff after centuries and centuries underground was because the ISU Animus-Yggdrasil was keeping him alive, like, only barely. And in the mere seconds he was conscious before dying, he was able to grab the staff. Eivor is dead, I feel like dead is dead in AC, unless your consciousness is backed up somewhere in some ISU tech, but even then, you won’t get your physical body back.

With that dialogue alone it is clear that she was unable to handle the staff at that moment, which was clearly shown. She shouldn't have killed Victoria but it was the staff which corrupted her dna (they mentioned some term for it apparently, animus-leak or something. ) and as a result she couldn't control her own reasoning and emotions. So it IS understandable. She herself realizes and is sad about Victoria's death, but for this exact reason, and for many other reasons as well, she can't stop now. She can't just say, Ohh .. victoria my friend is dead so lets stop now and move on and let her death be in vain. Of course, its her own fault for killing her, but that's not because she wanted to kill her, but because the staff corrupted her brain, literally, at least that's how the story goes.
Hope soon we get a different modern day character to use. Layla just was never really interesting
I agree, but I also didn't find Desmond that interesting either. I do feel nostalgia for him, maybe because we had him over the course of many games. In the Unity/Syndicate era if felt like they just abandoned the modern day story. idk, just feels like the modern day story has never really hit home for me.

Edit: just watched the Valhalla part and thank the lord, finally some good dialogue and a team who isn't constantly saying no don't do that. But seriously, I hate that the staff is "corrupting" I just want to see someone in the present day use an artifact and be badass again like Desmond with the apple.

No idea if I’m alone but I don’t like Layla nor really care about her in any capacity. If anything the end of Odyssey made me think she’s down right crazy. Now unlike some I do enjoy the modern day stuff but it needs a better protagonist or she needs like an overhaul imo.

True, I feel like this prelude added some depth to the character. Not sure if I want her in the next game as well but if she's going to be there she's going to be a better character than the one in Origins/Odissey

Is this REALLY how the Odyssey story ended? I never made it to the end of the DLC's, the gameplay got too repetitive. I can't believe that the writing got so broken! Hoping the new writers for Val have attended a class in fiction.

the whole modern day story in odyssey is dumb. they make it look like a huge deal when layla experiences deimos' memories when torturing the artist. i mean beating up a poor artist is bad and all, but did they forget that layla was in the animus the whole time killing people over and over again?! as if punching an artist a few times is going to do more harm on her mentally that literally killing tons of people.

In my opinion, Eivor feels more enjoyable and better than Alexios and Kassandra. Unlike Odyssey where it’s basically wet dream Sparta, Valhalla has a character that not only has lots of cool and interesting traits, but a character that I probably won’t ever forget. I’m totally buying AC: Valhalla. Looks pretty awesome from what I’ve seen in other playthroughs!

If Desmond was alive I could see Layla being the antagonist who starts out initially helping but ends up losing her way
I honestly kinda liked Layla in Origins/Odyssey but I slowly started to dislike her in the DLC's. Her arc of being intrested in the assassin's but slowly becoming obsessed with them and wanting to live in the animus' world was genius but really needed to be written better. I felt like her character wasn't fleshed out enough to truly care about this change in her story arc due to her personality that never felt like she even had one.. After being rejected by the gods, I honestly wouldn't mind if Layla was a future villain in the modern story as I kinda liked how bloodthirsty she was becoming. Maybe what I said doesn't make sense, I just have a love hate relationship with Layla's character lol.
Edit: Actually.. she seems a lot more calm in Valhalla so I don't think they're going with that route of Layla being a villain but I really think they should've after that whole Victoria thing.

It's something to do with having two protagonists to choose from I reckon. You don't see much of it in Bayek because he is the sole character. Valhalla suffers from the same problem unfortunately except for a few acted cutscenes.

I got into the modern day story just to know what going on actually. For Layla modern day really enjoy her in origin, not so much in odyssey especially toward the end of it but got a bit of hope for this game.

Unpopular opinion, but I actually find Layla pretty interesting. I like the idea of a main character that you can't really trust. I might be wrong here, but I feel like they're setting her up to become a villain, or at least she's meant to fail.
After all, didn't they introduce Desmond's son in the comics? I wouldn't be against him eventually growing up into the next modern day protagonist and going against an evil/corrupted Layla.

The orange setting in Valhallas modern day reminds me of Blade Runner 2049
Layla’s story was actually interesting, mainly full of pain, mental psychology from the isu artefact, and her own body becoming so bad because of it

it's weird the beginning of ACV is similar to AC3 from the point of view that it's the game following the death of one of the main characters at the hand of the protagonist, only difference is Desmond was being controlled while Layla did it by accident under the influence of the staff
That's what Sean meant when he said they've dealt with stuff like that before. Also both games are the final game in a trilogy ending in North America with the main character performing a last ditch effort to save the world. I hope Layla follows in Desmond's footsteps and dies at the end.

So let me get this straight.
Did she really go insane for being taken out of the Animus, kill her best friend, argue with a God about the use of the staff, then after she panics, she fights the interlope dude and not only does she beat him, she straight up gloats to him about how powerful she is with the staff giving her immortality. Then she severs his spine. I don't know if he is dead or not but if he is, she ALSO lies to her team and says that he is alive and doesn't say anything about Victoria to the team.
Then she goes to the fuckin Animus like nothing happened like a heroin addict.

It could be, Edward didn’t search for Mary’s daughter so for all we know Rebecca could be her descendant. I don’t know, but her cheekbones, the way she walks and looks around, it reminds me a lot of Mary.
The begging of this protagonist was good and interesting at Origins, In Odyssey is horrible, but now is different. I would say is interesting and intriguing again.

They changed the face models and I assume to add performance capture but still they kept the absolutely crap actors direction. What's the point ? Scenes don't flow well and the writing is clumsy.

Tbh, I wanna try the last 3 games just to see the modern day. I never disliked them, but I'm also one who can't hate on something if I see it being pretty damn hated, my mind is weird.

Just because you disliked it, it doesn't mean I will too.
If they weren't able to get Rebecca's voice actress back, she was better off dead, you know, how they killed her off before this. Also, it sucks to see the modern day story becoming so contrived and convenient to get to the past gameplay when they use to complement each other.

I don't understand how Layla is like "I DON'T KILL, IT WAS DEIMOS WHO CORRUPTED ME" and then kills entire armies of people as Alexios. Doesn't make any sense to me. You're assassin's, did you think the hidden blades were just for show and tell?
i wish they would tell how layla ended up with shaun and rebecca after odessey...hoped fate of atlantis dlc would explain that but it didnt.
OK for some reason when she solved the puzzle the game reverted back to Alexis. I missed this clip.
Damn I forgot how terrible Layla and the ending was in Odyssey. Valhalla did a good job of ending her story though.
Does that mean we will get a conclusion of the modern day plot of Valhalla in the dlc since she and Desmond are currently working together to save the world and this is supposedly the end of her story??
@@eviedegrandpre5268 I doubt it will be much of a conclusion but I'm sure we'll see more of Basim in the modern day in the dlc's. Maybe a couple missions and we might we might see William Miles again.
