I just wanted somewhere I could express my admiration for this man. He consistently makes the most beautiful, soulful music I have ever heard in my life. Long Live Jon Brion.
Absolutely wonderfully said. This is the same lesson I've learned a while ago now- a healthy life is a balanced life. A life where you genuinely put yourself in others shoes and experience it from different perspectives will always keep your mind and body happier.
If you've done this it is empathy and it is what the world is lacking. Tho trult hard to comprehend someone journey we all have an imagination and ca n imagine how one may feel proud of you
One just cannot help without relating. If we won't put ourselves in their shoes. .we are unable to have real compassion and to see the potential of others. See the best in others and watch the best come out
Jon, I always find your comments interesting. I always found you to be the most talented musical and creative student That I ever had. I enjoyed your beginning writing of musical notes, and your creative playing of all the instruments dubbed over on tape that you had me listen to in school. Keep it going. I will always be proud of you. Bob Fortino MJ Whalen Jr High school.
Siddharth Gautam- It's a deft pickup on your part, for sure. Most people think they'd have no problems if they were king, or beautiful, or filthy rich, etc. But, perspective is the ultimate goal. The varied views of the world are the key.
Fully agree with this. It's crushingly tragic that we didn't get to see the fully evolved picture, but at least we have a notion of the journey they were on together and it's massive credit to Jon that he was able to help Mac realise his vision so clearly.
This man helped write Floating by Mac Miller and I just want to know how he created such a lovely timbre and atmosphere. I feel like I will be chasing this sound my entire life.
Jellyfish: Spilt Milk. I only bought this CD because Jon Brion had a connection with it. Spilt Milk is utterly deliciously brilliant. Easily one of the best CDs in my collection. I am a Brit that adores Jon Brion. I ❤Jon Brion. Now I'm going to listen to his song 'Meaningless.'
This was cool... I make/write music and record at home where I am "my own master" as said here but I like acting... When I finally get jobs ha its "what would you like director sir/madam" a nice balance I hadn't thought of it like that...
Once upon a time Interviewers asked questions This is no longer the case Now they make statements, and ask for validation And nobody seems to have a problem with that
I see a lot of Jon Brion fans here. If you haven’t yet, make sure to check out Mac Miller’s post humous album “Circles”. Jon worked closely with him creating it , and then Mac left us , and Jon was tasked with finishing the album as Mac would have wanted it . Which is an insanely emotional and transcending obligation, and he did absolutely wonderful. My personal favorite off the album is “Woods” and I would tell anyone to start there if u are curious. The albums is great check it out. And RIP to the young Mac Miller, he was on the cusp of being loved by the whole world . The loss is a tragedy.
Echo Park / Silver Lake scene was legitimately homey & almost Laurel Canyon esque communal for a hot minute; then the money got f*cking weird and word on the Strip was if you wanted any faux Bohemian LA cred, you were at the Largo. Judd Apatow was drooling on a burger nervously while Amy Mann tried to pretend it wasn't happening and Beck _definitely_ pretended it wasn't happening. Jon needed a check but didn't know where to cash it. He's a genius but let's himself get stomped over again & again. He'll pass away and it'll be a less drinkey Nilsson thing where it's like cool; we didn't really give him enough cred while he was here but here's grey Aziz Ansari talking about how mind blowing he was at the goddamn Largo one night & gee, maybe shoulda said what's good um why don't you tour? Favorite composer, for film I think, but he's getting left in the dust with this what if Largo sh!t. Greenwood, Ross/Rez, Levi, Lapotin, Zimmer.
And highjacker. I don't get how your remaking songs on Spotify. Are you buying the copywrites? Something rotten in Denmark. Shady as fk lol. Hells he talking about anyways....I don't get swooned over anyone in "the business" if I saw a superstar on the street I'd walk right by. They are no better than anyone.
Yet this is the guy that left The Grays because he couldn’t deal with the fact that the producer preferred Jason Falkner’s songs and vocal style to his…. Give me a break, this guy is so full of shit!

I think Jon would agree with you :) sorry, I find him so incredibly pretentious it’s hard to watch his interviews but he is talented.

Pure knowledge and experience.
