What an amazing composer, he has created some of the most touching, human and memorable pieces of music and lyrics in movies.
Jon Brion has been one of the most influential composers for me. I love his work. It's so unique. Plus, he puts on a great live show.
Music of Eternal Sunshine saves me every winter.
In our book: Brion, Greenwood, Zimmer, Reznor/Ross are the Mt. Everest of modern movie composers circa 2021
It's so weird to me that studios edit movies before they even hear the music. The rhythm of a movie is so crucial to the rhythm of the music, not mention the feeling and tone.
Tarantino in a recent interview said, that he starts with listening to some old vinyls from his collection and THEN gets an idea of what kind of movie he should make with the songs he liked. I love this reversed idea, cause music is too crucial to be just the last step. It has to be deeper.
The music he did for ParaNorman is phenomenal, moves me to tears every time I hear it
He shares Dennis quaid's smile at the end there
Lol he does
He made a masterpiece of mac millers circles
Synecdoche New York is his best work
He is great there, yeah. My personal favorite is his work on Punch-Drunk Love, which I think is one of the greatest soundtracks ever composed.
Yesssssss
how can you tell me this isn´t a young Neil...young?
Love his music so much!
Anybody else love these interviews but also gets extreme anxiety expecting when the outro song will creep in?
Oh my gosh I’ve watched a bunch of these this month and this is so accurate haha. Sometimes I think I hear it and then I see that the video is just halfway finished so I was just imagining it haha. They should just add the rest of the seasons to Netflix already!!
This is exactly what happened to Thom Yorke when he was asked to compose music for the film Suspiria... wow, absolutely incredible.
I can tell that the director of "The Holiday" asked Hans Zimmer to do a Clair de Lune ripoff, which resulted in "Maestro". the two pieces are so damn similar.
Brill
The problem is that they use music by clasical composers that is probably going to be better than the music the film music composer makes, even though it may not fit perfectly.
